A pale brown wolf stood on the moist dirt of the Nanjiro Swamp, the darker patches down her spine making her look like a normal wolf. The only difference in this form were her eyes. The copper-flecked silver was a dead giveaway that she was not a normal wolf. Indeed, she appeared so, but there was a significant difference between her and others. A very, very big difference.
The moon was shining brightly upon the water she loved so much and, slowly, she allowed herself to transform. Her legs sluggishly vanished, turning into a beautiful golden-scaled tail, spine and dorsal fins tinged with blue-green. Her paws and ears became accented with the same shade as well. Though it should have been painful for the Cael to be on land, she, unlike the pack she had been abandoned by, had adjusted to land life, despite that she was not as useful on land as she was in water.
Tawny was this wolf's name, called such because of the color of her scales, unique to the wolves in her previous pack. It was the reason she was treated as an outcast all her life, the reason she left when she was two years of age. She found herself, a three year old female, in a place that belonged to someone else. She slid into the water, enjoying the feeling of the smooth liquid on her body.
She swam deeper and deeper into the territory, easily scaring off any alligators. She soon found a small mound of land and pulled herself onto it. She felt the need to do what she did every night: sing to the moon. A small smile graced her lips and she opened her mouth, expressing her voice to the silent white orb in the sky:
"Summer turns me upside down, Summer summer summer. It's like a merry-go-round. I see you under the midnight. All shackles and bows. How far will you take it? Well no one knows... Don't let me go. I got a hold on you tonight. Oh, oh it's magic. When I'm with you. Oh, oh it's magic. You know it's true. Got a hold on you. Twisted under sideways down. I know you're getting twisted. And you can't calm down. I see you under the midnight. Love darts in your eyes. How far can you take it? Till you realize There's magic in your eyes..."
Her voice faded, mind lingering on the song her mother sang to her every night until she left.
