After joining the Clan, a certain Cael felt there was a lack for her usefulness. There were no pups for her to teach as she was named a Teacher. She wished not only to share her knowledge, but her voice as well. Other wolves loved her singing and she was more than happy to teach them how to do so. She appeared as any normal wolf when without her tail. Pale brown fur with a darker hue crossing her spine. The only giveaway was her eyes: silver with copper flecks. Her voice was, too, but only when she sang.
Tawny padded along the gnarled roots of a mangrove tree, feeling sluggish with her land legs. She snorted, gazing at all of the water around her, and decided she was better off swimming through the swamp. She remained there on the tree and allowed herself to transform, a gold scaled tail replaced her legs, the pectoral fin colored with blue-green. There was a spiny fin traveling down the majority of her spine, also the same color. The same shade of ocean tinted her paws and ears.
She simply fell from the branch and splashed into the water, twirling her body so that she could skim the bottom, swirling dirt from the swamp bed. It followed her as she paddled along. Her scales glittered when she emerged from the water, immediately noticing the lateness of the day and the mist floating from the cool liquid. She spotted a small island in front of her, a single mangrove tree and some rocks scattered about it.
Tawny pulled herself out of the water and, without changing back to her lupine form, dragged herself painfully over to the rocks. She slid onto one, the coldness of them soothing her now sore scales. She laid down and stared up at the moon through the mist, wondering if she was ever to make any friends in this place.

Jade was hunting, if she was to be Beta she would need to perfect her skills in every rank, and at the moment she was practicing her hunting. She was hunting for fish as the sun set and mist surrounded the swamp. She could see silvery winged fish surrounding her, but they were to fast, she would have to pick up her speed. She dove under the water, it was quite deep here, and pick up her speed her emerald scales glittering her golden winged fins flattenning with her speed. The fish jumped out of the water soaring for a bit before falling back in. She paddled her up and flew out of the water after then, like a mermaid spinning in mid air her golden wing-like fins spread apart as she caught three silver fish by thier tails. She landed back into the water with a splash.
Jade slowed herself down and rose to the surface, her eyes glimmering with pride in her graceful catch. She flicked water from her green ears and scanned her surroundings with her deep ocean blue eyes the turquoise around the rim shimmering. She could see an island ahead with a few rocks and a single mangrove tree, aswell as something gold laying sprawled across the rocks. She scented the clan and could see the long golden fish tail of the cael. She wanted to call out a greeting but her mouth was full. She glided gracefully along the surface of the water, nearing the female.
When she reached the shore Jade dropped the three fish and floated there her paws on the land and her tail still in the water swaying back and forth. She used her usual greeting when she didnt know the name or rank of the wolf she was talking to "Greetings, I am Jade one of the newest members of the Clan and if I may ask what your name is Goldy" her tone was playful and a gentle smile spread across her white muzzle, the bit of jade green on the tip of her nose looked like she had been splashed with paint. The blue stripe down her back was darker than it would have been when dry, she loved how the stripe changed colours it added to her personality. She looked back again to the gold and grey she-wolf waiting for her reply.

Tawny was enjoying the peace of the nighttime by herself, basking in the starlight and moonlight. Her scales were unusually bright in the luminescence and that left her open for an attack, but she was a fast and strong swimmer. She was confident that she would be able to escape any enemy that might happen to come across her. She was prepared at that point to sing, unhinging her jaw slightly and opening her mouth to do so.
It was then that she caught another scent, one of the Clan, and she knew she had no need to be worried. She closed her mouth, deciding against singing, as she rarely did in front of others unless they asked, and was entirely aware of the female pulling herself partially onto the island Tawny resided. The wolf spoke to her and she was about to turn and reply, but her anger got the better of her when she was called Goldy, the one nickname she resented with a fiery passion, as it was one assigned to her by her old pack. It was an insult to her oddly colored tail.
Her lips curled back in a snarl and, before she was able to stop herself, she leaped off the rock and took a swipe at the Cael, knocking her back into the water. Her fur was bristling as she waited for the wolf to resurface, an angry expression on her face. "Do NOT call me that. I am Tawny, a Teacher for the Clan. Get it right the second time and I won't attack you again."

Jade's eyes widened in shock as the Cael swiped her with her forepaw with such force that she was blown back into the water. She stayed under for a bit, wondering what she had done to make the cael react like that. When she figured out it was the nickname she had called her she resurfaced and spoke with an understanding tone. "I am so sorry dear Tawny, I didnt mean to offend you, I should have asked your name first beofre calling you that and that is my fault, forgive me please." she nodded, her tone soothing trying to calm down her clanmate down so that she would explode again. "If you will let me out of the water I do wish to get to know you better and maybe you, me. Im sure we could be good friends." Jade smiled and started to drag herslef out of the water, her emerald coloured scales with golden wings shimmering in the moonlight. Her tail was quite odd because it related to no water animal anyone had ever seen, hence she had been teased by passing caels for such an odd looking tail.

Tawny scrutinized the wolf before her, finding no malice and true apology on her face. Though she was angry, the Teacher allowed her expression to turn to one that was neutral. She didn't like showing her emotions too often, but she certainly could not help but be furious whenever someone called her that. It was a long time insult to her odd colored scales, for it was one of the reasons she left her family behind.
"I'm sorry, Jade..." She murmured, watching her get out of the water. "I just hate being called that. I forgive you."
Tawny turned around and slithered back tot he rock she had been sitting on earlier. She continued to bask in the moonlight, debating whether or not she should get to know Jade, as she had suggested. Tawny was not one for making friends, especially after what she had gone through before she came here. She sighed, closing her eyes.

Jade finally finished pulling herself out of the water and layed up against a rock, spreading and folding her strange golden fins, her emerald scales sparkled in the moonlight. She looked to Tawny "I truly am sorry, i never meant it to offend you. I do love your golden tail, and Im guessing that is why you dont like being called Goldy, others made fun of your tail." her tone was understanding and her voice smooth and melodic. I was always made fun of because of my tail, they never knew where it came from its strange but I love it, I like being different." she said her tone growing happier. Jade folded all her golden fins making her tail look sleek and sparkling the gold mere folds of colour until she unfolded them again, doing this helped with speed in the water or dragging herself out of the water.
Jade looked to Tawny noticing her closing her eyes, her golden scales glowing. She guessed she must have been thinking, and noting that she was a new member, wolves like this usually spent a bit of time remembering their past, so thats what she guessed she was thinking about. But soon she was lost in her own memories of the past, but quickly shook it off "Everything will be alright, its time to start again and start a new life, if you live in the past you will never be able to look to the future and see what a great life you'll have" She opened her deep blue eyes gazing into the distance, then staring at the water and the way the moon was reflected in it. She took the end of her tail and unfolded her golden fins and placed it in the water, stirring the reflection as the golden fins floated on the surface.

So, she was taunted too? It must have been by other wolves, not by those of her kind. Tawny noticed the color of her tail was just like the color of her mother's, her father's being blue. Yet, here the Teacher was, a freak among Cael. Or so she was told. Goldy was a long-hated nickname to the young wolf and she absolutely would not stand to be called it anymore. She figured it was about time she stood up for herself.
She opened her copper-flecked, silver eyes and turned to look at her. "I'm debating why I'm even bothering to tell you this." Her tone was slightly bitter, for she was not necessarily one to make friends. Perhaps, however, she could make an exception this time. "I used to live in a pack that was purely Cael. I was a freak and an outcast because of my strange coloring. I'm assuming other species made fun of you because of the species you are, but I was made fun of...because I didn't even look anything like my parents. My mother had green scales, my father had blue scales, and they both had gray fur. It was like that in the entire pack, except for me. Gold scales and brown fur. I was a weakness to them... They just abandoned me one day..."
Her voice trailed off and she refused to say anymore, even to what Jade had said last. Something about letting go of the past. That would be difficult for Tawny. She was treated an outcast all her life and she feared rejection again. That was the main reason she wasn't able to make friends so easily. She was awkward around them and it usually ended in disaster.
