Nearia pranced along the wet marsh happily, her tail risen and waving happily. The muddy water caused her russet and black fur to stick together. Her monarch butterfly wings flapped lightly as though trying to fly. The wiry grass around her held many things, not just food, but predators as well. However, the Alchemist did not fear such things.
She stopped, antennae twitching when she turned around to gaze at her apprentice, Hawkwing, with deep blue eyes. Her ears flattened playfully. Even though the Sennyo was twenty-seven years of age, she was a playful as her apprentice, whom was nearly a year old. She wiggled her nose and made a funny face, sticking out her tongue a little bit.
"Come on, Hawkwing!" Nearia snapped cheerily, no hint of anger or irritation in her voice at all. "I need to teach you about herbs! That's my job, you know!" The butterfly-wolf grinned widely. "I might be nice, Hawkwing, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to discipline a young wolf like yourself."
Nearia stood there, waiting patiently for her apprentice to come to her. "Oh, be careful. There are a lot of snakes and stuff in this marsh." She hoped she hadn't scared her. After all, Hawkwing would need to know of these things and overcome them if she wanted to be a truly great Alchemist.

Hawkwing followed her mentor slowly, staring at her a little akwardly. The wiry grass stuck to her fur when she walked, making it difficult. The mud was over her white pelt, making her a weird-looking wolf, with a white body and brown legs. She walked a bit slowly, tired and hanging her head low.
Hawkwing had stopped for a second, and that's when the Sennyo turned to look at her. This was the most entergetic, playful time she had seen her trainer since they had met. Her splayed paw dug into the dirt and mud but stayed at the top, because the toes were far apart and webbed, like all wolves. It was quite a large web, though, that some wolves think she is part Cael.
When Hawkwing's mentor snapped playfully at her, she jerked back into life. "I need to teach you about herbs!" her trainer said. "I know you do!" Hawkwing yelled. She had to yell because they were quite afar from each other. Her brown wings camoflauged in the muddy water and mud. When he mentor said, "I might be nice, Hawkwing, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to discipline a young wolf like yourself," Hawkwing muttered, "Nagger." She didn't like when her mentor talked one hundred miles per hour.
She walked to her awaiting teacher. "I'm coming, I'm coming," she said. "Oh, be careful. There are a lot of snakes and stuff in this marsh," said her mentor. Hawkwing stared at her in disgust, and raised an eyebrow. "OK.." she said, jerking back to the world.
Hawkwing continued ahead of her mentor, feeling suddenly lively and fun.

Nearia blinked a few times when her apprentice went ahead of her, suddenly with a change of pace. She smiled, knowing the young pup had a long way to go, but was glad she loved life. It was hard to find a wolf her age who was as carefree as her. Though, Nearia was sure she could match that joyfulness to some extent.
She trailed after Hawkwing with an easy prance, trying not to strain her injured leg, and gazed around the marsh. Her antennae twitched again, sensing an oncoming storm. They were common this time of year and very dangerous in a place like this. Flash floods came whenever a storm did and the Alchemist was aware of this. She stopped, looking at her apprentice.
"Hawkwing! Don't stray too far! A storm is coming!" She shouted, walking over to a small pond. "Come here! I want to show you something!"
Nearia stared down into the pond before her, stretching her long legs out to grab a lily pad with a bright white flower on it. However, it was just beyond her reach and the way she was stretching made her look a little strange.

Hawkwing's change in pace made her spread her wings, filling like she was a pup that had just gotten out of it's whelping den. She stopped to take a drink of a clear pond, then continued.
The Myou's wings spread farther, and she lifted off the ground. While in mid-air, she looked at the beauty of the valley. She noticed some oncoming storm clouds, hauntingly black. She flew down into a tree, and perched there, her paws on a tangle of branches.
"Hawkwing! Don't stray too far! A storm is coming!" Hawkwing heard the Sennyo's call. "Come here! I want to show you something!"
"Coming!" Hawkwing replied. She flew there bracing herself for a rough landing. But that rough landing didn't come; she landed perfectly on a log beside Nearia. "Yes'm?" she asked.

Nearia waited for her apprentice to gather with her, still reaching out to grab the lily pad. She managed to do so with the very tips of her claws and pull it towards them. She used her teeth and snipped the beautiful white flower off of it, gently lifting and setting it at the Myou's feet. She lifted her head, antennae still twitching because of the ominous dark clouds heading in their direction.
"We can't stay long, but I'm assuming you don't know what a flower from a lily pad can do." She, once again, didn't wait for her to speak or respond; she just continued. "The flower from a lily pad has the power to heal headaches and fever. It's also a soothing agent used, when ground up, to be put in wounds. It stops them from hurting."
Nearia then leaned down and bit the flower in half, eating the one she had taken. She was curious to see her apprentice's reaction. "They also help with stomachaches. They'll keep you're belly full for awhile when you eat them. Go on," She nudged the flower closer. "Try it. It won't kill you, I promise."

The Myou saw the wolf, and saw where she was reaching. A large lilly pad lay. She saw her take the beautiful white flower in her teeth and putting it down by her paws. She looked up as her trainer did, seeing the black clouds heading dangerously near.
When the mentor asked her apprintce the question, Hawkwing attempted to reply, "No, I don't." Before she could speak, however, the Sennyo continued. "I knew it healed headaches," she said, and watched the Sennyo.
When Nearia put her head down and took a bite from it, Hawkwing was surprised. She heard the wolf saying something, and leaned closer to hear it. "Try it. It won't kill you, I promise." With these words, Hawkwing bit into the flower. It tasted quite sourish, but also a bit good.
Soon the storms were right overhead, and Hawkwing could hear the beat of rain as it came nearer. Then it hit. The water felt like bullets against her short fur, and it was coming fast, too. Like her mentor, she knew flash floods could easily happen. Her wings were outspread, taking some of the rain off of her like an unbrella. Frankly, that's what she was trying to do.

Nearia watched her apprentice make a slight face when she ate the flower, agreeing with the expression. It was a tad sour, but there was a very filling and sweet taste just behind it. The Sennyo's antennae curled high when the rains began beating down and chanting on the earth with a monotonous sound.
"GAH!!!" Nearia cried, turning and bolting into the nearby trees. Once she was under the dry branches, she curled close to the trunk. "Hawkwing, get out of there! Now!" She was seriously hoping the young wolf wouldn't complain and would actually listen to her for once. Not that she never had, she was just difficult sometimes.
Nearia was not afraid of the water, no, and there should not have been a reason for her to be. However, it didn't matter what kind of water it was, if it touched her wings in too high of a quantity, then her wings would be destroyed. She waited patiently for her apprentice, watching the dark skies warily before she spoke again. "We need to get to higher ground... This storm is not a good one. I can feel it..."

The rain pounded against the Myou like rocks. The howling of the wind drew it into her ears and face, making her close her eyes to go against it. Lightning flashed behind her, leaving sparks and blackend trees. Hawkwing's brown wings were folded across her back. She ran.
She pounced on the rocks, the first one, then the second. When she hit the third one her splayed paw gave away and fell into the now flooded river. Hawkwing's head went under the two-foot-deep water. She tried to grab a hold of something with her outstreatched paw. The bank was nearby, but was getting farther away the farther downstream she was sweapt. Soon the water was up to her muzzle.
"Nearia!" Hawkwing sputtered, water coming up to her nose, keeping it just barely above water. The water was hanging into her thick pelt, keeping her from swimming up. "Help!" she gasped. The water held her completly underwater. She forced her paws to try to bring her up. She did, for a quick gasp, then fell underwater again.
Hawkwing's mind was racing and her lungs were screaming for air. She hoped that the small Sennyo had heard her.

Nearia watched in utter horror as her apprentice was dragged under the water by the impending storm. She was frozen with fear, unsure of what to do. There was no way the Sennyo could haul her out of the water, she was much bigger and weighed a lot more. Not to mention the Alchemist's hind left leg was crippled. It was sure to impair her if she tried fishing the young wolf out.
But she certainly had to try.
Nearia leaped out from her hiding place, pelted with rain, and pranced over to where her apprentice had vanished. She was light on her feet, landing delicately on the rocks and using her sight to attempt to find the Myou. Her ears were useless with the noise and her smell was useless with the rain.
She called out, "Hawkwing! Hawking! Please, answer!" She spotted the white muzzle pop out from the water and cry out to her for help. Without hesitation, Nearia jumped in after her. She stuck her maw beneath the water and, taking a shot in the dark, grasped her scruff between her sharp teeth. She had to speak to her when she pulled her head up. "Swim, Hawkwing, swim!"
If she didn't, neither would make it out alive.

Suddenly, the Myou's eyes half-open, she spotted the Sennyo. The wolf said something, and Hawkwing heard her. Her long fur anchoring her down, the rain suddenly stopped to a small drizzle, but the wind was still hard and bringing them downstream. The water was emptying in a lake, but the worse was to come. A large, wide waterfall awaited them.
Hawkwing came to her senses again. Anger and tirdness swept through her, but the idea of Nearia dying gave her streagth. A very large rock stood between Hawkwing and Nearia and the waterfall. The wind was growing, harder and harder as if every second it grew angrier. Her paws were growing heavy and her lungs were screaming for air.
The waterfall came closer.
With her wings and paws outspread, she grabbed ahold of the rock and heaved her and Nearia up the boulder. She coughed like crazy. The wind nearly pushed the two back in the water. "Nearia, get on my back!" Hawkwing told the Sennyo. When she did, she took off.
She flew out of the storm, back into the heart of the camp. She could smell nothing but rain and wind, which were overflowing the camp's stream.

Nearia was slightly taken by surprise when the Myou threw her onto her back and flew off towards the camp, who's stream was beginning to overflow. The Sennyo knew not to worry, though. Sunchaser was bound to remove the pack members if it was needed. She doubted that, however. She leaned her muzzle up to her apprentice's ears and began speaking.
"Hawkwing, land on that mountainside over there, under those rocks, all right? Sunchaser will make sure the pack is safe. For now, we need to escape the storm and flying gives us a chance to be struck by lightning." Nearia told her. She was amazed at how strong her wings were, able to withstand such winds with ease. "I'm hopping off. I'll see you there."
Nearia leaped from Hawkwing's back without waiting for an answer, landing carefully in a tree. The branch snapped and she landed on the muddy ground, twisting her bad leg slightly. She cringed a little, but gave a quick sweep of the camp, making sure no one, especially the mothers and pups, was there. The camp was empty, meaning Sunchaser moved them to a safer location.
"Good..." She sighed. "I hope I won't have to fix any serious injuries." She turned around, running as fast as her legs would allow her and deftly climbed the mountainside while managing not to slip. She made it to the rocks where, hopefully, Hawkwing was waiting for her.

As Hawkwing landed in the camp, she saw Nearia looking around, still on her back. The Sennyo began speaking in her ears. When she spoke of the mounstainside, Hawkwing nodded.
When Nearia hopped off of her, she folded her long wings against her back and hopped into some tree branches. She jumped from tree to tree, like a squirrel. She had taken the Sennyo's advice not to fly, but when there were no more trees she would have to run or fly.
Hawkwing ran against the storm. The wind and drizzle were still pounding against her face. When she was passed the middle of the storm, she stopped for a second.
She flew up, searching the ground for other wolves. When she was running, she caught sight of a orange-colored speck. She flew in, soon reconizing it as a Sennyo. As she became closer, she relized it was Nearia.
The beating of wings and the blood in her ears were all Hawkwing heard. She flew beside the Sennyo, close to the ground. She landed on the ground, doing a roll on the ground but gained her feet quickly. She ran beside Nearia.

Nearia felt her heart want to jump out from her chest when her apprentice landed beside her. She sauntered beneath the rocks and out of the rain. She walked over to one rock and curled up beside it, keeping her head up to gaze over the land. She wanted to make sure she could get to any injured wolves that could be roaming about in a storm like this. This storm would pass, but it was best to stay out of it for now.
"No one is in the camp. Sunchaser moved them to higher ground. We'll wait here for the storm to pass." She told her apprentice. "Take a nap, Hawkwing. I'll keep watch for now."
She didn't wait for the Myou to say anything. She should listen to the Sennyo, for she gave an order, not a request. The wolf was too young to be sleep deprived. Nearia, however, could remain awake long enough for the storm to pass on. She would nap when they returned to the camp.

Whilst Hawkwing saw Nearia crawl beneath some rocks, she followed her. Why are we here? She wanted to ask. Soon the only precipitation that came in was the tiny trickle from a crack on what was their “roof”.
At what time her adviser told her to go to sleep, Hawkwing went to the back of the cavern and curled up. She put her head on her paws, and coiled her white tail in front of her face. She closed her eyes, and went into a light slumber.

Nearia watched Hawkwing fall asleep, slumbering happily. It wasn't too long after that when the storm stopped and passed on. The sky was clear blue again, not a cloud in sight. Leaving her apprentice be, the Sennyo climbed down the muddy mountainside and back into the marsh, where she proceeded to drink some of the water. She was thirsty, tired from having pulled the Myou from the swelling river.
She sighed, "What now?" She walked around the marsh idly, enjoying the scenery. "I wonder..." She leaned down and bit off some of the grass, swallowing it down with ease. It tasted good, clearing her headache. She discovered a new headache eraser. That was a good thing. The more plants for healing, the merrier. Besides, lily pad flowers were difficult to come across and they would get low in stock when winter came. She could collect tons of grass and keep it safe during winter.
Nearia smiled, "I like this place, a lot more than most I've ever been."
