The night was cool, crisp, and refreshing. Even though the night was cold though, there was a nice warm breeze making a very nice night indeed. The moon was high in the sky, full and white. Even the stars tonight were in abundance and brightly shining.
Surrow's nose was stuck to the ground, sniffing. He laid in the middle of a very large patch of tall thick beach grass. Sniff...Sniff.. He lifted his head up here and there, to look around above the grass, then back to sniffing. The grass beneath him was something he had never seen before. He did not usually hang around a beach.... at dark... but even when he was near lakes and rivers, there had never been this strange grass.
Surrow froze. Something brushed against the grass he was in. His eyes were widened and he waited for something to pounce at him. He was already making escape plans in his head.

She had no worries, and all was peaceful. It was a nice way to recover from past events. After all that had happened, it was going to be a miracle if she ever felt normal again.
Shaina clawed at the dirt in front of her. It was tough, and hard. Summer seemed to be making everything healthy, but Shaina soon found herself with a new prized rock in her jaws. She carried it a ways, before smelling yet another.
The male's scent was somewhat like hers, though she couldn't find out anything else. Tonight was a night for chances, and she was overwhelmed with curiosity. She crept slowly toward him, and got dangerously close. He seemed to be close to her height, and grass surrounded them both. He moved, and she shot back, her back hitting a patch of grass. Her eyes widened and she turned, expecting death anytime.

"I-I-Is anyone there?" He said worriedly. If it was a dragon, he would be cooked rat. Ever so slowly, he poked his head out to look around. He didn't see anything. He quickly put his head back into the grass. Sniff....female....sniff.....wolf....sniff.....and something else similar. It was not likely that she was a rat moyu like himself but was familiar, at least in the wolf way.
He slowly came out of the grass and looked around. "Er, I am Surrow." He then spotted the figure in the grass. "Uh, I am not going to hurt you miss."

She took a deep breath of sweet air, thinking it might be her last. What if it was Archer coming back to take her? That was a high possibility. She moved her legs backwards, but kept her eyes on the spot where she believed he was.
When she was a far enough distance away so she could run if needed, she stood taller and tried to see over the grassy patches. She couldn't see him yet.
"I-I-Is anyone there?" a male's voice called shakily. The surprise of the sudden call made Shaina jump, but she settled immediately. The voice wasn't Archer's after all. She took in another breath, but didn't speak. She still worried if the male would hurt her.
A crown shot up over the grass soon thereafter. Shaina gasped at what she saw. The male she had worried so much about, was a rat myou too! She crept closer very slowly, staying on the safety lines. The male slowly appeared out of the grass. She straightened herself slightly and looked at him. She hoped what he said was true. "I'm... Shaina." Shaina looked him over, they looked very much alike. She sniffed at him before stepping back. "Umm. Nice to meet you, Surrow."

Against all odds, guess what? She was a rat myou. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you or anything." He said, glancing at his paws then to Shaina. She was one of the first rat moyu that he had seen since his family. "Er... pleasure to meet you." He said, bowing his head while his rat tail curled around his back paws.
They were similar in many ways. Rat myou, near the same height and such. One of the only things that were quite different was she was more of a white or gray and he was brown. He awkwardly sat down on his tail which quickly flickered out from beneath him.

Surrow was a dark brown color, she was mouse-gray, and he was a few inches taller. As far as she could tell, he was older too. She was only two, and so he made her feel a little foolish at this point.
She was still overwhelmed by surprise. Surrow was the first rat myou she'd ever encountered, seeing as her mother was a myou hybrid and her father was a deer myou. There were so many things she wanted to say, to question, but she couldn't form the words. Instead, she said, "You-You didn't scare me. I was, uh, just curious as to who you w-were." She paused. "It's nice to meet you, too, Surrow." Not knowing what else to do, she bowed flawly back to him with respect, and sat down. Her own furless, pink, rat tail curled around her hind legs.
She pawed at the rock that she left at her feet silently. She would have to remember to take this rock back with her to her hiding spot, if she could find a place for it. It wasn't her fault she hoarded things, she was a rat, what did you expect? She eyed Surrow again thankfully. She was ever-so-glad that it wasn't Archer. She would have much preferred Surrow to that villain any day.

Curiosity killed the rat but satisfaction brought it back. The saying had suddenly popped into his mind. It was a saying that his pack would say when a pup would say that they were curious. He had been curious himself a many of times and always wondered if the saying that been true, or at least once true. Could a rat myou actually die from curiosity then be satisfied and come back to life? It sounded rather far fetched but he didn't know.
"I am from the pack Children of Hvítur Ári... I am a storyteller." He said, ever so slightly proudly. He was proud of being a storyteller and belonging to a pack. He loved to tell stories, though, he did not tell one a lot for there usually was no one to tell it to. But suppose these days, being in a pack, he will be telling stories a lot more.

She was beginning to enjoy Surrow's company; it made her feel as though she wasn't the only one in the world anymore and that there's hope for her and other rat myous out there. Shaina smiled at him after laying her head down on the grass. "I'm a loner, but I wasn't always one. I only became one after," Shaina cut off, remembering how her mother so heartlessly gave her away and started this whole horrible childhood in the first place. "After... things happened." Shaina shuddered and peered up at Surrow.
She admired the myou for being so proud at a time like this. For Shaina, it was a crisis. One that was never-ending. "It must be great to have a pack that would protect you with it's life, and to be a storyteller! Wow." Shaina wished she had a pack to go to for shelter and all of her needs. The one she had been born into broke away. Shaina had no idea what had happened to her parents or siblings. Shaina sighed in frustration.
If curiousity killed the cat, then Shaina would be alright. Too bad in this case it's the rat. But that was only an old saying that you children, right? Shaina decided to risk it. "Umm. Surrow? If you don't mind me asking, what was your family like?" She was very confused yet very curious because if there were other rat myous out there, then why hadn't she met any of them besides Surrow? Shaina watched him with eager eyes that seemed to glow in the moonlight.
OOC: I had to fix the table, it was driving me nuts. I don't know how to fade exactly, but I tried a little trick so it has that appearance. Is it any better?
