She stood on the bank of the canal, pale brown fur beginning to change its form, going from fur to scales on her back half. Gold and blue-green colors tinged her ears and her paws. She felt her weight increase by at least 20 pounds, if not more. Her copper flecked, silver eyes gazed out upon the water as her transformation completed itself and she sat upon the banks for awhile longer before decided whether or not to get into the water. It was the reason she came here, right? So, why shouldn't she get in? She was a Cael, after all. She looked back at her scales and cursed them, the reason she had been caused so much pain in her life. Her scales were gold, tail fin blue green, and sail fin blue green. Usually, the gold scales would glitter like rocks, but only if there was some kind of light cast upon it. However, the day was overcast and rather dull, just like her scales were.
Tawny sighed and turned back to the water, angrily throwing herself at it and diving under. She swam aimlessly for minutes, allowing the water to calm her nerves and soothe her angers. She had been bored out of her mind lately. She was a Teacher for the Clan, but there were no pups for her to teach, so she had nothing to do but spend her down time in the water or wander about the lands over and over. She was a good hunter, a good fighter, and a somewhat good healer. She was able to teach these things to a pup, but, alas, there were none to teach them to. She eventually decided to emerge from the water and began paddling over to a tangle of roots in the middle of the canal, a tree being held up by them. She crawled onto them and laid down, deciding to gaze at the overcast sky.
Her mind drifted to her family as she once again attempted to remember a certain point in her life. She remembered training in the river with someone, her parents being two of them, but then something happened. It was something bad and dangerous, but she couldn't recollect what it was. She felt as if there had been another wolf there, another one of the family, but there was nothing that she could recall about him or her. She sighed, letting it get pushed to the back of her mind. It was beginning to give her a headache and it was annoying her to no end. Tawny hated getting headaches and this was not the greatest of days to get them.

Jade looked up at the cloudy sky and let out a sigh, it had been cloudy for a few days now and she wished the sun would make an appearance soon. Her frequent walks to the ocean had made her legs strong and she now had no trouble walking anywhere and was just as steady as other wolves on land. There had not been much to do lately and Jade was getting bored. Recently she had brought back up her past trying to remember before her devastating fall over the waterfall. But she had had no luck she recieved bits and peices of it, like what she thought must have been her parents and another cael which must have been her sibling. She tried to grasp the names but none came to her, everything had been a blur on that day and she had no luck with remembering. For all she knew her family must have thought her dead or else they would have come looking for her or her family could be dead now, there were many possibilities but Jade tried not to think of them.
She came to the canal and in no mood to swim she decided to find a way walking. She scanned the area and soon found a path of intwined mangrove roots which, if she was careful, could safely walk across. She trotted over to them and placed one of her paws lightly on it testing to see if it would hold her body weight. She smiled as she realized it was quite strong and she slowly started to walk along it. Her eyes glued to the roots and not aware of anything else around her.
She reached the middle of the root bridge in no time but one of her back paws slipped and dipped into the water, transforming only that foot turning it gold and sprouting fins from the back, muttering to herself she continued on, she wanted to succeed in walking and she would like to finish this without getting wet again. She didnt even notice the golden cael not a few metres away.

Tawny's ears pricked high when she heard a splash, like a small dip in the water. She turned her metallic eyes in time to see one of her packmates join her on the small island of roots. White fur...it was familiar to her, and she turned just right. She spotted a friend of hers and immediately kicked off from the roots, diving back into the water. She wormed around and wiggled through the roots under the water, emerging on the other side. She burst thought the surface and climbed up just behind the other female.
"Ah! Jade, I thought that was you!" She called out in her most happy voice, keeping her aquatic half in the water. She waited for a reply from the female, but knew it would come eventually. She had met Jade only once before and they were somewhat good friends. What was weird was the fact that there was a strange nagging in the back of her mind every time she was around her fellow cael. She didn't know what it was, though she never paid it any mind.

When another Cael appeared beside her Jade almost jumped out of her fur, slipping and falling clumsily into the water. Her tail transformed and she cursed herself for that clumsy landing. She put her front paws over the roots and let her tail float in the water. Then she turned to look at the other cael, recognising the golden scales immediately as Tawny.
"Hello Tawny, you startled me I thought I was the only one hear." She stirred her golden and green tail in the water. The cael in front of her looked familiar but she wasn't sure from where or when and she just assumed it must be from the last time they had met here.
She folded her side fins and then unfolded them, so terribly bored and she enjoyed seeing the ripples it made in the water, she looked back to Tawny, questions nagging in the back of her mind but none made any sense to her so she pushed them to the back and tried to think of something else.

Tawny smiled. "I'm sorry. I have a habit of sneaking up on people." She had fallen in the water and Tawny felt bad when she did, and her beautiful green tail transformed. She sighed, watching her scales glitter. She wished her scales were some other color besides gold, then it might have saved her the pain of her old pack when she was little.
As she watched Jade, something was tugging harder in the back of her mind, questions she didn't know how to ask or answer. She was confused and Jade had always seemed familiar, every time Tawny saw her in the camp or outside of it. She didn't know why she was like this, but she wanted to know so badly. There was nothing she could do though, because she had no idea what it was that she wanted to know, what she wanted to ask, what she wanted so badly to find out about.
She pushed it aside and brought herself up onto the roots, curling herself and her fish tail in a hole inside the roots. It acted as a hammock, comfortable to say the least. Her copper flecked, silver eyes met Jade's and she smiled at her again. "So...what brings you out here?" As curious as she was, she was definitely bored, and striking up small talk was the one way to keep her mind occupied.

"I'm not sure actually, i guess because there hasnt been much to do around here I had some spare time and decided to explore the territory some more." What had really brought her here? s]She had no idea but the answer would be revealed in time. But she couldn't help the fact or feeling that something had drawn her here. She watched as Tawny curled her golden tail around the roots of the tree and looked at her with copper-silver eyes. She tilted her head, her eyes were vaguely familiar.
She was terribly bored and wanted to do something, her belly growled for food and it seemed at the same moment she could see a flash of silver beneath her fins. She dropped off the roots and quick as a flash ducked under water. She did the move she had always done when hunting in the water ever since she was little. She had seen dolphins do it and had copied them with her own special touch. She watched from underwater as the silver flying fish broke the surface and glided above.
She paddled as fast as she could and broke the surface of the water. Even in the clouds her scales sparkled, she spread her gold fins and glided like the fish through the air grabbing them in her mouth, she did a spinning twist and hit the water once again. She resurfaced again the silver fish flopping in her mouth. She bit down killing them and placed one of the roots in front of Tawny while she curled herself around the roots and settled down to eat her own.

Tawny could only nod her agreement with her comrade, knowing that life was being rather slow as of late, and the members of the Clan didn't have much to do. She hoped Sunchaser would plan a festival soon or something, it would brighten things up and give the members something to celebrate, promotions and all that. She wondered, that as a Teacher, if something would happen to her. She doubted such, but was still somewhat hopeful.
She watched as Jade dove quickly underwater and reemerged with two silver fish, killing them quickly and tossing one at her. It hit the branch and she snapped it up in her jaws. She muttered her thanks and began eating, stripping the scales and meat away delicately with her white teeth. It tasted good and she appreciated it. Her fish-like tail curled happily and it wasn't long before she discarded the fish's bones back into the water.
Tawny took her paw and flattened her ears, wiping the back of her head with her paw, a habit she had accumulated since she was little.

Jade lifted her head from her fish and flicked her ears up, eyes confused as she looked at Tawny, dumbfounded. "What did you just do?" she asked desperately and at the same time memories were flooding back and she was submerged in flash backs. A sister with golden scales and copper flecked silver eyes. Her close friend, her sister, her playmate, her childhood. A stormy day and a fall with her family calling her name as she plummeted, her sisters the loudest. She blinked herself out of it as everything started to flow back but with the old memories, confusion with new followed.
She had thought her family had left her there, thinking she was dead and gone somewhere and never come back. Maybe this wasn't her sister? maybe it was just another golden cael. It couldnt be, it had always been her sisters habit of trying to smooth the already flat fur. She opened her mouth to speak her body trembling with excitement and fear. " S-sorry to yell, It-It's just that my sister always did that, but I lost her a long time ago, when I fell over a cliff, they probably think im dead though." she stuttered. Jade looked at Tawny once more and scanned her features, she didn't want to believe it but all her senses were telling her otherwise. This cael must be her sister, as realization dawned upon her, tears of hapiness and sadness flowed down her cheeks. "Tawny...It's me, Jade. Do you remember me?" she whispered still trembling, questions filling her mind faster than she could even think of them.

Tawny jumped, squeaking in surprise when Jade suddenly burst out in a question. She saw her expression was dumfounded and confused, as if searching for something in the recesses of her mind, then appeared to have found it. The golden cael was utterly befuddled as to why her friend had reacted like she had. All Tawny had done was wipe the back of her head in an attempt to flatten possibly already flattened fur, something she had accumulated as a habit as a pup. She did it most times subconsciously, without even realizing it, receiving strange looks from others and not being aware of what she had done. Jade's reaction had surprised her, not thinking she would react that way to something so simple.
Then, she spoke of her family, how she lost them by falling over a cliff when she was young, and how they thought she was dead. The part of her sister caught Tawny's attention, how what she had just done was something her sister had always done, but how she had lost her as well. The nagging in the back of the Teacher's mind became stronger, almost unbearably, and her face scrunched in pain because it hurt so much. She didn't understand what was going on, and it almost seemed as if something was trying to emerge from the back f her mind and present itself right in front of her eyes. However, it wouldn't come to her, even when she was asked if she remembered Jade.
Jade... Jade...
It sounded familiar and the nagging became worse in her head, but nothing would come to her head. "Of course I remember you, Jade..." She paused, trying not to confuse the female further. "You're in my pack and I met you once before. Did you think I had suddenly forgotten you since our last meeting?" She wondered if there was something missing. Jade was just her comrade, right? There couldn't be anymore to the story after just being comrades. There couldn't be. Perhaps some tiny, tiny thing would stop the tugging in her head and bring forth some truth as to what was happening.
((ooc: I forgot to mention that Jade is the only one who calls Tawny by her nickname, Tawn. That could be the final straw for breaking through Tawny's memory, perhaps?))

Jade's smile of hapiness faded and turned to a frown and tears started to pour down her face. She turned her aqua eyes on Tawny's silver flecked gold ones, "Y-y-you don't remember me? she stuttered. Her tears started to flow more as her own sister couldn't even remember her. Of course, she wouldn't, I'm dead in my families eyes, lost to the world. she turned her head away as she cried silently searching for something, anything to have Tawny remember her.
Then it clicked, maybe if she called her by her nickname she would remember. "Come on Tawn, think, it's me." she stopped her tears and looked up hoping to see recognition in Tawny's eyes instead of confusion.

The moment the shortening of her name came forth on her companion's lips, everything was hurled into place. All of the memories before that incident, before that storm. It all rushed back to her and she suddenly recalled all of the times she had played with the cael in front of her, how many times they had fought over a fish, how many times one would comfort the other, and how many times they would help each other out. Everything was there...including that dreaded day that had caused Tawny to forget everything before the storm hit. She remembered the dam breaking, the wind lashing, and the water sweeping her beloved sister down and off the edge of a waterfall.
She remembered how she had screamed so loud that she could be heard over the roaring storm, as she called out for her sister. She remembered how her parents rushed her away and out of the storm, and how she had fought so hard against them to just go after her sister. She remembered how she cried silently for days over the loss, as she had screamed Jade's name so loud she had lost her voice. Her heart beat frantically against her chest, fluttering against her ribcage like a trapped bird. For a moment, she didn't understand, didn't believe it, that this female was her sister. It didn't seem real, it seemed like a dream, one she had wanted to come true for years and years.
Immediately, the tears sprang from her eyes and the grin spread across her face as the realization dawned in her eyes. She squealed, "JADE!!!" She jumped at her companion, stopping to nuzzle her face. She cried hard, remembering everything that had happened. The storm had caused her to forget all of the things that she had as a child, and going to live with that pack of cael only made it worse, made her less likely to remember. Her golden tail curled about happily. "Jade, I thought we lost you! I...I t-thought you w-were d-dead..." She sobbed, closing her eyes and lowering her head. She was so glad...that her sister was alive.

Jade was taken by surprise when Tawny flew herself at her. Covering her in nuzzles and licks. "Oh Tawny, I missed you so much." by now they were both crying with tears of hapiness. She gave her sister a big lick on the cheek but lost her footing and fell into the water with a splash. She resurfaced again her chin dripping and her aqua eyes shining.
She had her sister back, there was nothing more she had wanted than to retrieve her memories and her sister back. And now right here she had all that and she couldnt be happier. She spread her golden fins happily and scooped up some water throwing it at Tawny then diving under water and swimming to the other side of the root then turning and jumping. She barreled into Tawny both flying into the water on the other side. She laughed, the laugh she had missed so dearly and had not heard herself laugh in forever and she loved it, swimming here in the water with her sister was like a rain of sunshine and gold, pure hapiness.

Tawny was so ecstatic for this to be occurring, to have finally gotten her sister back. It had been much too long since she last saw her and she had always wondered what it was in her life that she had been missing. There was a hole in her chest that needed to be filled, something that had been lost for ages. Here it was filled, whole again. She had been reunited with her long lost sister, and there was nothing she had ever wanted more.
She was surprised and flinched when she was splashed with water, then found Jade gone when she turned back around. She yelped in surprise when she was barreled into, taken into the water by her sister. She heard Jade laugh, something she was not used to, something she hadn't heard in a very long time. Tawny was not one anymore to play and goof around, but this was her sister. There was a childishness brought out in her that she couldn't hold back.
She watched Jade and flipped around, running her caudal fin through the water. It created a wave that she aimed towards the female. She grinned at her, laughing, "Just like old times, eh?" It was just like old times, which was a long time ago. She had missed this, the companionship of someone she could blindly trust with everything in her life.

Jade was splashed by a wave of water sent from Tawny's fin but quickly shook it off with another laugh. She slapped her emerald green and gold tail on the waters surface creating splashes and ripples. She gave a yawn, thinking had made her mind tired and her body had followed, especially since she hadn't slept the best in the past three days. And even with the cloud cover she suspected that it was past noon. She looked to the island and the sand that covered its banks and became more tired giving out another yawn. She turned with a flick of her ears and swam towards the island.
She reached its sandy and leafy banks and hauled herself up next to the tree. She collapsed and started to lick her green and white fur dry, waiting for her scales to change into legs and a normal wolf tail, relieving the weight from her body and allowing her to curl up and take a nap. Jade always found that she out of most cael looked the most like a lupus with unique markings and colours. With a green neck and an ocean blue stripe that continued down her back to her tail aswell as golden paws and and emerald green wolf tail with a golden tip. The base of her coat being a silvery white and eyes like the depths of the ocean turning aqua as they neared the center. She could pass as a lupus easily.
She looked to her sister how her colouring was so different from her own was strange indeed but very unique and if kept clean, sparkled under the sun as the hairs were tipped with gold and Tawny's gold tail was also something to talk about shiny and sparkly so different from her own that it was astonishing. But they loved each other like sisters should, despite their differences.

Tawny watched Jade yawn a few times then head in towards the island, obviously tired. Even though the pack hadn't been too active lately, she could clearly see that she was tired and hadn't been able to sleep too well. She smiled as she watched her curl up and clean herself, drying as her scales returned to their lupine form. She noticed her looking at her, then sort of curled up and closed her eyes.
Wanting to join, Tawny followed her onto the sands and gave herself a shake, allowing herself to dry enough to have her tail go away. She padded over to Jade and the tree, laying down beside her. She snuggled close and curled into a ball, resting her head near her sister's. She closed her copper flecked silver eyes and allowed herself to drift off into darkness, falling asleep in the humid, overcast afternoon with her sister by her side.
