Cayden's bright yellow eyes caught on The synesinger resting on a low branch. Its plump figure nearly swallowed by shadows. His muscles rolled beneath his grey-gold coat as he judged the distance. The bird wasn't too far away, just a few months ago he'd of been able to make the jump with ease. But now his lithe form was weighted down with water. Ever since he had left his desert home his thin and lithesome shape and seemingly sucked in water and given him the form more common to all but the Eremus. His musculature legs were use to gracefully propelling a much lighter, much more slender body. They could not push this form through the air toward the sleeping bird. At least not yet, not until his ungainly legs were use to his heavier build. With a disappointed shake of his head he moved on down the path.
His split hooves dug into the jungles damp regolith as he trotted beneath the tall trees, occasionally dodging the barren limbs that lay forlornly in the dark soil. The constant barrage of rotting foliage and sweet flowers had him longing for the deserts biting sands and glaring sun, but that place was gone. This was his home for now.

[scrolly:h(180),w(398),sy] Scorch was indeed prowling about aimlessly before he caught sight of a member. Finally he though, another wolf with whom to gather information from, perhaps this one would be high ranking? He crept silently through the dense foliage, well used to moving without noise in such a territory as his blood red and black fur undulated over his muscles. He paused to observe the Eremus and manipulated himself into the shadows, covering his large bulk. He could not hold this power for long though...and he quickly reappeared. Why did the wolf not kill the bird? Scowling in light annoyance Scroch caught himself on fire before launching a flame ball at he bird, striking it dead on sight. He could occasionally pull this move off, and this was one of those times. He moved on as the bird's dying screaches echoed briefly at his back.
The other wolf movements did not suggest anyone of great importance, and the large male almost turned away in annoyance. He could not destroy fellow pack mates even if he was pathetically bored. However, this meant little as Scorch was always bored unless causing a chaotic event. Thinking it through he decided that at least talking to this fellow would be better then doing nothing, so he materialized from the shadows, rising up to his full height and staring unabashedly at the other wolf with his ocean eyes. Climbing up onto a protruding root gave him the opportunity to look down and feel superior, something that gave him a small flick of pleasure.
His muscles were relaxed, and even so their form were clearly defined through his fur and he dug his claws in lightly to the bark before saying, "Hello fellow Mafia member, my name is Scorch and I simply seek to make some acquaintances amongst this reputed pack." His deep voice rang out clearly, and he gave a small smile to put the other male more at ease. Who knows, he could have use of him in the future. The voices that had begun to plague his mind once again spoke up, taunting him. You'll never reach power poor useless fool, we know what it takes and we know you don't have it. Shut up, Scorch yelled silently in his head as they gleefull mocking voices pulled at his nerves. But we can show you, yes, we will help you rise. Trust us, we know... Scorch could almost make out the demented faces of the souls that tortured him, their rotting flesh falling off their hide before they vanished. He could not control these voices, and they came randomly, merciless in their taunting. Blinking he cleared his mind. [/scrolly]

Cayden paused as his large ears fixed on the muffled sounds behind him. Judging them to be no more than loose leaf debris he was about to start forward again when the bird’s agonized shriek split the air. His reflexive system, honed by years of avoiding a sister’s pranks kicked in and he leapt to the side attempting to spin around and face the death cry’s origin. However his muscle memory, not use to the extra weight, failed him. He had not cleared enough air and his hooves caught on a tree’s treacherous roots sending him to the jungle’s floor. He staggered to his feet as the dark wolf ascended a less malicious root.
Cayden’s gaze caught on the other wolf’s blue eyes. They reminded him of the wide open sky stretching across the hot sands. Relaxing Cayden listened as the wolf’s voice resonated in the air around him. “Hello fellow Mafia member, my name is Scorch and I simply seek to make some acquaintances amongst this reputed pack.” Cayden met Scorch’s smile with one of his own. Pack, his tail picked up a slight wave at the thought. Pack was good, safe, reliable… Right? A moment of doubt caused his tail to waver, but it was gone in a flash. This wolf was pack. He could trust pack.
"Hello. My name’s Cayden. It is nice to meet you." He added an extra wriggle to his tail. "I haven’t seen many others around here yet.”[/color] On the last sentence he subconsciously cast a glance at the surrounding trees as if expecting more to materialize before again latching onto Scorch’s gaze. His smile widened. Pack was supposed to be trusted, and this wolf seemed nice.

[scrolly:h(180),w(398),sy] Scorch glanced at Cayden's hooves, the sight appearing rather odd the the lupus. However he held no disdain for the oddity for there were more interesting matters on which to focus his attention. Like the bright almost gem yellow of the Eremus' eyes; an interesting attribute. The other wolf seemed a little awkward and Scorch figured he could out fight him if needed. Though there was no denying Cayden would be a formidable ally to have once this matter of balance was resolved. Therefor he relaxed and sauntered down from his roots approaching the other wolf with a roll of his shoulders.
In his drolling deep voice he replied casually, "No, there doesn't seem to be an over whelming sense of friendliness here." He stared sideways at the Eremus before adding, "But is that not to be expected from a pack such as this? I myself prefer a trifle more activity, but the location is rather nice, is it not? Not to mention the freedom to do mostly as I please is convenient, to say the least." True, Scorch was indeed enjoying the ease in which he could move from pack to pack instilling some form of discord, but he was markedly restless with the lack of movement within his own home area. Of course being a new comer what else could he possibly be expecting? Not to mention he had found a rather appealing female interest, of which he was already plotting his seduction.
Flexing lightly he continued on, "I take it you are new here as well? What has brought you to this cut throat territory?" It was high time Scorch built some allies to call upon when he decided to move up and this new acquaintance may not be a bad place to start. It did not appear other members had gotten to him yet and Scorch chuckled lightly at the thought, earning some trust would not be overly difficult. [/scrolly]

As Scorch sauntered off the root Cayden pushed down another stirring of unease. How could he allow a flicker of mistrust? This was a packmate! A packmate who was being very nice. With his mental berating done he pushed down any of his worries as far as they would go. He wouldn't allow himself to do anything so rude as distrust this packmate. It would be unforgivable.
Cayden refocused on Scorch as the lupus spoke. Cayden's yellow-bright eyes met scorch's gaze as he caught on one particular phrase. ...a pack such as this... Was there something wrong with pack? Maybe packmates weren't to be trusted... He refocused on the blue gaze. But this was a wolf he could trust. That had already been decided. He'd figure out the pack issue later.
When Scorch asked him about home he gladly shoved his inner monologue aside, to be reviewed later. "I headed out from my home in the desert along with my sister, but we decided to go seperate ways." Cayden welcomed this distraction from his train of thought and ignored the "cut throat" comment. It was something to decipher later. "It wasn't much. I just wandered for awhile before settling here." He added belatedly. "It does worry me some. I'm not use to having to deal with the added weight of water retention." Remembering his earlier stumble he let out a frustrated sigh. It really was messing up his movements.

ooc; so here is a big sorry for taking so long with the posting reply. [atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,false][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd415/Somatra1/sback.jpg]
[scrolly:h(197),w(410),sy] Scorch's conniving mind was going a mile a minute as he listened to Cayden talk. Seperate ways was not an entirely unusual thing to see amongst siblings, but it could leave a small crack of vulnerability. Yes, this wolf would be a perfect sort to befriend. A smile spread across the male's face, teeth gleaming from under his maw. "Hum, from the desert to the jungle, that is quite a climate adjustment..." He deliberately paused before adding with a hard glint in his eyes, "No need to worry, I've got your back as need be, I am rather good at disposing of the...trash." He gave a wink of mischief to finalize his offer.
He paced lazily to the left of the male, his gaze unwavering as he thought over his decision to enter the mafia. "You may say I'm here because there is no other pack that can meet my particular...needs. I simply cannot comply to the demands and rules required from other packs. Yes, this one offers a satisfying combination of freedom and duty. At least this is what I've heard. After all, I am rather new as it were as well. What do you hope to accomplish here?" His keen mind was on alert for any signs pointing to whether or not he could trust this new acquaintance and he was trying to prod the other male for any knowledge. [/scrolly]
