[scrolly:h(230),w(410),sy] It was mid-day, and the Yagi was growing uncomfortable with the sun beating down on his dark brown back. The sky was blue and cloudless, to his disadvantage, and he scowled up at it, as if the weather was somehow against him: This wouldn't surprise him. Lawson's creepy orange eyes scanned the jungle located close by, yet not close enough for the trees to offer any shade. Figures. "These are pack lands; I can smell it." he growled out to no one in particular. I know, that is why I lead you here. You are going to join. The silken voice inside his head whispered. Lawson laughed, a crazy, enraged sound, not too loud, more of a low rumble. "Are you out of your mind? The mafia lives here. I respect them, for they are the only smart pack around, but join them? Never. Packs are only trouble and a waste of time." The large wolf snarled, bitter memories surfacing, particularly the reason for the large scar over his right eye.
Indeed, but this one may be of help to you... The voice drawled, a constant companion, neither welcome nor unwelcome. Lawson's eyes scanned the jungle: He wasn't afraid of the pack that lived here, or of the jungle itself. More of the wolves: He wanted no attachments or responsibilities, and lived by the motto: "Each wolf for himself."
"But would they accept me in their ranks? Or believe my lies? These wolfs are not so gullible as others." he mused. You'll have to tell the truth, then. The voice answered calmly. Lawson stopped in his tracks: Tell the truth? It was something so unfamiliar and bizarre, he chuckled. "Alright, I'll tell the truth. Let's just see where that leads us, old friend." He entered the jungle and stood beside a large tree for a moment, waiting and watching, as he knew others were surely doing at this very moment.

What joy, what fun! The fire lupus was enjoying himself so much that he was even ignoring the visit of his most dastardly specter. And so he slunk through the shadows in a dance, cackling quietly to himself as his companion bellowed in anger. Quit that and listen to me you fool! How dare you ignore me damn it, this will lead to your death, mark my words! Grinning wildly Scorch ran, talking out loud, "Consider them marked Old Geezer, consider yourself marked for it won't be long before I figure out how to get rid of your rotting and useless carcass!"
The specter had to glide rapidly to keep up and as he went white and plump maggots fell from between his rotting flesh, rolling like helpless pups on the jungle floor. In the day and in such a fine mood not even the ghost could create fear and so Scorch ran, making his way to the borders to do a quick exterior patrol. "Old Geezer? Ha, how do you like that, turns out I will have to name you after all." A murderous glare was all that he received as the hollow eyes seemed to glow with pure hatred. Grinning Scorch threw the specter a wink and kept on running. As he glanced over he noticed the Old Geezer had deemed it prudent to leave.
And that is when he spotted the Yagi, just inside he boundaries of the Mafia territory. What was this he mused, a lam to the slaughter or a fly to the web? Either way it mattered not for Scorch was already making his way over through the shadows. In a wisp he appeared silent as death in front of the large wolf, a predatory look upon his eyes. "What do we have here? A trespasser? A potential meal? Or a wolf wanting to join the marveled ranks of the repudiated Mafia? Speak now stranger, or forever rest in peace..." He smiled maliciously, curious to see what this wolf had to bring. "And know that you are addressing Scorch, Enforcer for the Mafia so speak wisely." He had been given the pleasure of accepting new members, and he could now see that leadership of the pack was in his grasp.

[scrolly:h(230),w(410),sy] Lawson turned to face the new wolf, his bright orange eyes narrowing slightly, his saber teeth sticking out, noting that he himself was a little taller than him, and a lot with his horns. Pleased with this slight advantage, he smiled inside. However, he also noted with miscontent that this new wolf was a Lupuse by the looks of it, and it was rather hard to compete with that. Ah well, he thought sadly to himself, some other time... His voice spoke up to him, angry: Lawson, behave! We need this! Lawson ignored the voice, not really bothered by what he thought or not, but he smiled pleasantly anyways to the wolf in front of him, a fighter of some sort by the looks of it. Most likely captain of the guard here or whatever it was called, he didn't really care much anyways.
"Good afternoon, Scorch the enforcer." he greeted the other wolf, not being able to hide the hint of mockery when he said the title. " I am... Lawson, and I wish to join the mafia." The Yagi hesitated when he said his name, but he trusted his instincts not to lie this time. Besides, he had a certain respect for mafia wolves, and this one seemed smart enough. " I know the Mafia's, ah, tendencies, shall I say, and I am sure you'll most likely want to put me through some tests, am I correct?" he asked, though Lawson was fairly certain he knew the answer already.
He remained standing, though not aggressive, and waited for this Scorch's wolf's answer. If truth be told, Lawson wanted to be in a pack, but it didn't matter that much if he wasn't accepted: Being on his own suited him fine.[/scrolly]

In Scorch's experience Yagi's were usually a stubborn species that were difficult to manipulate due to their inherent trait of sticking to their opinions no matter the cost. This trait would be a marvelous asset if he could convince Lawson to see things his way. Not to mention their physical strength made a good asset to have when silencing opposing forces. In a strong voice he spoke, "Tendencies you say? The Mafia will admit only those that can come to turn with being true to their animal nature and conquer it. You appear to have strength and size by appearance alone, but we demand more from our members. Do you have enough gumption to do what is commanded of you without regard of the nature of the demands?"
Scorch gave Lawson a hard stare, watching for the slightest of hesitations. Drawling out suggestively he said, "You know what Yagi, I am going to be very straight forward with you. You don't want to join this Mafia, it is a pile of rubble slowly being crushed by rather terrible governing. Trust me Yagi, nothing awaits you in the Old Mafia but frailty and failure." A harsh bite had entered his words as he was no longer taking over the pack for the sheer fun of it, but to save the mafia name and start a new rule under which members could prosper and in turn brig the Mafia to greater heights then before.
"I shall no longer stand by and watch our great Don destroy such a reputated pack, you have no loyalties to anyone here Lawson and I am going to offer you an interesting proposition. With the aid of the best wolves in this area I shall disrupt this dangerous spiral into oblivion and over turn the Don's rule. Under my rule it shall become the glorious and dark being it was meant to be. The alphas are too soft and grow old, but the new reign will be comprised of only the most strong and competent wolves, those opposing will be disposed of. To this end I need wolves that will banish such opposition and stand by me to rule." A cold grin spread across his maw as a single white canine appeared.
"Make no mistake Lawson, join me in this conquest and live in power, feared by inferior wolves and reign in the new era of darkness." He paused and added casually, "Or join the old mafia and be cast off into nothing with the weak. Either way it is your choice, chose now and chose wisely." He narrowed his eyes dangerously, daring this wolf to embrace his true animal side.

[scrolly:h(230),w(410),sy] The male thought over the other wolf's words carefully: Killing was no problem to him, it was more the taking orders part. He was a vain sort of wolf, and considered himself better than most, and being ordered around like a pup didn't suit his needs. However, a glint of interest shone in his orange eyes when the Lupuse mentioned taking over the Mafia. Lawson looked at him, trying to peer beneath the other wolf's dominant facade and spot a hint of humor, or mockery, or worse yet, fear. However, the Yagi was quite certain that this wolf spoke the truth, and if there ever was a wolf to almost single-handedly take down the mafia and restore it to it's glorious reputation, than it was he standing before him.
Lawson narrowed his eyes, and aimlessly twirled his large, pointed black horns around, a filter of light catching the gruesome scar on his eye: Perhaps it had been too long since he'd felt the taste of blood and death, the thrill of power and force. Yes, Lawson, it is time to rise from the ashes of your previous self, and become better, newer, colder wolf... With this new Mafia, you can be more than you ever would be! Have power to do as you please, with no consequences. Crush those that call you a liar or a crazed lunatic, and rise, rise, rise... His inner commentator was strong as it hissed words of advice into his head, and faded, the words echoing eerily through the Yagi's head.
But what if it fails... He thought to himself, and Lawson suddenly smiled, an eery, creepy sort of smile that only the wolves most devious and ill can pull off quite so well, as an idea entered his twisted mind: " I have no qualms about killing, as long as I have my bit of fun first. It's the being ordered around, you see, that grates on my nerves a little, Mafia Enforcer." He stepped forward casually, oozing slyness and false charm. " If I do join your revolt, I wish to have a, ah, small amount of power, under your rule, of course... Power to kill, to do as I please, and to dispose of those who annoy or irritate me. You look like a smart sort of Lupuse, determined to get what you want, and to crush what you don't. These are most admirable qualities, but how, may I ask, will they suit my cause?"
He sighed dramatically, a sly gleam in his eyes: Lawson had a funny sort of feeling that this wolf somehow might need his aid in his endeavor, and truthfully, the cunning wolf was curious: Curious enough to join him. " You see, I have made a bit of enemies along the way, and although they don't worry me, having the power to destroy them if they do become so foolish enough to attack me does..." Finally he turned to face the other wolf, staring into his eyes, a grin on his dark brown maw, his two large saber teeth sticking out: " What I want is this, Lupuse: If I join you, I want to have my own rules and codes, and although will serve you and the new and prosperous Mafia quite well and to the best of my abilities, I will not be a servant to be ordered around at will. Do you understand what I mean, Enforcer? Give me power, and I'll give you my undying loyalty to you and your cause."
Lawson grinned now, quite liking the ways of this new wolf he had met, and quite looking forward to shedding blood and terror. He stepped even closer, eye to eye with the other. His voice was strong, but not dominant, more sly,, and his eyes rolled around a few times for the fun of it: "Savvy?"[/scrolly]

Scorch stared coldly at the Yagi before him, no hint of amusement on his face. He cared not about whether Lawson felt qualms about being ordered about, were he to join he would need to follow or be left behind with the others. It was true Scorch might have use for the Yagi, but he could ultimately be replaced as well. The smooth talk that the male employed vaguely reminded him of himself, though he would not have been one to complain as opposed to rearrange things to his liking after letting others believe him to be trust worthy.
Without humour he replied, "No matter what mafia you join you will be subserviant and give respect to your Alpha." A light growl crept into his voice, it was time to set things straight. "However, under my reign you will be guaranteed the opportunity to possess a higher degree of power then you will ever hope to have should you follow the old reign. I care not what you do with your business, as long as it does not hinder the pack or its shift to higher power. You will have the power I deem acceptable until you prove to me you deserve more."
Scorch relinquished his harsh tone of voice, returning to the deadly smooth wolf he had become. "Serve me well Lawson and you will be handsomely rewarded, on that respect you have my word. Go against my command and suffer the consequences, you tread on dangerous water, the bottom is deep and murky. I am giving you a life line to the surface, take it for otherwise you will drown with the rest. Consider this my final word on the matter. No more bargaining, I have put out what I will offer, and it far surpasses that offered by the old Alpha."
A frosted grin appeared on his face, despite the wolf's rash comments at least he had enough gumption to voice such demands. With a bit of training he could shape out to be worth the effort as long as Scorch kept a watchful eye on him. "Despite your bold mannerisms you appear to have promise Lawson. I hope I shall not be disapointed in my choice. As for your smooth talk, you may leave that for others for I shall not welcome a individual that cannot talk frank to this opposing force. I expect brutal honesty from my followers, and I will also give it. You have shown some of this honesty in voicing your own demands, to this end I am pleased, Savvy?"
ooc; After replying feel free to join in Play to Kill thread in the sink hole. It is where the mutineers shall meet, nom nom. This is proving to be interesting indeed.

[scrolly:h(230),w(410),sy] Lawson listened closely, and grinned as the other wolf replayed his words: Yes, this will most certainly do for me... He thought to himself, and nodded his head, careful not to hit the other wolf with his large horns. "That suits me fine, Scorch, you'll find I can be honest when it suits my needs, and from now on, those of the Mafia and their new Alpha, yourself. That is all I wanted to know, and therefore I will pledge my loyalty to this new Mafia you speak of and yourself as the Alpha. For the present moment, before this grand scheme takes place, what exactly will my role be with the old, crumbling Mafia, should any wolf ask why I am here?" He asked, prepared to play his part in this new venture of his.
"As for killing and honesty and brute force and such, you'll soon see I am not lacking in either brains nor brawn. Since I have grown to respect you and your plot in our short meeting, I will gladly kill for the Mafia's new Alpha, yourself of course. Is that satisfactory?" He grinned at the Lupuse, orange eyes filled with excitement, slyness and danger. The Yagi was prepared for this, and being under this Lupuse's reign wouldn't be so bad, since it still gave him the power he wanted, and the chance to prove himself.
The new Mafia will rise, and you and I with it... The voice exclaimed gleefully in his head, and Lawson grinned respectfully at his new Alpha.[/scrolly]

Scorch nodded his head, satisfied with the way things were turning out, he could not have planned this any better and with the aid of his few select trusted followers the pack was in for some big changes. "Very well then, welcome to the Mutineers Lawson. Time is short and the moment to strike draws near, so be ready. You will know when it is time to meet, the cries will call you. Know that if you do not show up I will have to assume you have deserted us, on that note you had best be a rather tenacious runner for I do not take to deserters kindly."
A glorious smile of malice spread across his face, turning him into an imperial rogue. It was to fulfill the destiny he had been chosen for and nothing and certainly no one would stand in the lupus' way. "You may consider yourself an associate for the time being, but you may also look forward to better in the near future. Until then do consider what you would be best suited for and try to stay out of trouble. I believe this concludes our business sir and may your day be as black hearted as the spirit that guides our mission."
He gave the Yagi a brief nod and turned to meld into the shadows, fading from view and back into the darkness that was a soothing balm to his youthful energy. He was young, but he had lived through more then most elders would ever see, and so he would use every skill he had been taught until the pack reclaimed its glorious title once again.
