It had been a while since Jerrad had actually gotten a full nights sleep. Every night, nightmares haunted him. He had been so tired during the day and it was really starting to take its toll, even though he tried his hardest to endure it. Tonight was just like any other.
The sound Lupus was walking through a forest. Everything around him looked beautiful. the darkness was silhouetted by the moonlight, casting a beautiful glow on everything. It was very calming as he gazed up to the twinkling stars. But at the same time, there was an underlying uneasiness about the place.
Jerrad continued to walk across the soft, lush grass. Voices and whispers echoed around him and he stopped, fur prickling anxiously. He looked around but found no source to the sounds. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a light. Turning to look, he found they were bands of white light, twisting and turning like dancers in the air. Something seemed to be eminating off them, like they were calling to him. Curiosity got the better of him. Carefully, he began to move towards them.
The dancing stripes continued to move, as if leading him. Jerrad was so mesmertized by their beauty that he followed blindly. He quickened his pace to try and catch up to them. "Hey, wait up." He cooed, wanting to know what they were. They suddenly turned around a corner and out of view. Jerrad followed them, whipping around the corner. But what he found was not the lights.
What stood before him stole the males breath. Before him was a giant cave. The blackness seemed hauntingly familiar, but at the same time, he couldn't remember why. He gazed curiously into the darkness, taking a few steps towards it. Why did it feel this place held a dark, familiar tone?
As soon as his paw his the darkness, an enormous feeling consumed him. It felt as if something was there. He felt anxiety and fear rushing through him, freezing his ever move as he stared into the darkness. Along with the binding feeling came an array of images.
A wolf that looked much like Jerrad came into view. He was in the cave, laughing and snickering as he tormented a poor young creature. The next second, he was snapped up in the jaws of its mother, screaming in agony and fear. "W-What is this?!" Jerrad felt fear rushing through him as his lungs tightened. He coldn't breathe. It took only moment to remember that the wolf was his brother.
Jerrad watched as the dragon tore at his brother, the blood splattered across the ground. He was so scared. Everything was happening too fast, zooming past him in mere moments. The shock left him gasping. His paws felt like they were glued to the ground, unable to make any movements. Though, he forced himself to gain some of his composure. Knowing his brother was about to die, Jer did the only thing he could. "N-No!" He leaped into the air towards the beast, closing his eyes tightly so he couldn't see it's fierce eyes. Though he wasn't expecting what happened.
What met his paws was not the dragon, or even a being at all. What he slammed his paws down onto was the hard stone ground. He quickly opened his eyes in confusion. All around him was darkness, nothingness. What happened?
"Jerrad."
The voice behind him sent a spike of chill up his spine. He held his breath, not wanting to turn. But he knew he had to. Jerrad slowly began to turn, eyes wide in shock. When his body turned fully, his mouth gaped open. His young brother stood before him. All across his body streaked blood, scars and wounds pulling harshly open. His body was distorted and disgusting. One of his eyes had been pulled out, leading to only a dark round socket. And through his only eye, his eyes held hate and anger as it looked at Jerrad.
Jerrad felt pain and regret rush through him as he gazed at his dead brother. The sheer distaste that was across his face made Jer's stomach turn. Kenai snarled, his stickly fur prickling in the heat of anger.
"Look how ugly you made me. I died that night, and it's all because of you." His voice was like venom to Jerrad's ears.
Jerrad's ears lowered in shame as he began to cower to the ground. "N-No! I'm sorry Kenai! I never knew the dragon would come! P-Please forgive me. I'm your brother!" He whimpered uselessly.
A low growl erupted from Kenai's mouth. His paws began to move forward, bringing him closer to Jerrad. A faint, dark chuckle came from him. "Heh... My brother," he stopped walking, lips pulling back in a devious snarl as blood streamed from his mouth. "A brother wouldn't have done that to his kin... You are no brother of mine!"

[/i] A screech of pure hate came from Kenai as he leaped for Jerrad. Jerrad's eyes flew open. "Kenai!!" He screamed, leaping instantly to his feet. His eyes looked in evey direction with panic. His body shook, his maw opening and closing in anxiety. Screeching echoes bounced off the sides of his den, the result of his sound element and his reeking shame and fear. He closed his eyes and clenched his teeth as the harsh sounds hit his ear drums, cowering back to the ground. Had he really been screaming that much in his sleep to make the sounds bounce directly back to his own ears? Unable to take all the sound any longer, he suddenly jumped up and took off out of his den. The further he got from the area, the more he ran, the more he felt like he was running away. The wind through his fur seemed to be whipping off all the feelings on him. Before long, Jerrad found his running to be much harder. He slowed down to a stop, heaving over as he gasped for air. He didn't realize how far he'd run; from the dens, all the way to the marshes. Jerrad shut his eyes tight, his fur still standing on end. "Kenai... I'm so sorry..." He began to whimper lightly, head hung low. He felt the sticky mud on his paws, but he didn't care. His mind whirled as he tried to get a grasp on reality.
