It was a terribly hot day. In the blue skies was the bright sun, burning and sending viciously hot waves down to the earth below. The humidity was also quite an issue. A blue and emerald wolf walked along the rough terrain. He had been walking for at least a week, at had yet to get tired. The harsh training his father had put him through before made his stamina go through the rough. He could go days without stopping, able to live off little scraps of food. He could thank the hardships of being a loner for that.
Jaye could feel the sun on his back, and it was bothering him terribly. The heat brought up unwanted memories to his head, of watching the fire burn away at his family's flesh. He shuddered as he began to move faster. "Dammit... Where's some water when you need it?" The burn on his back was beginning to hurt and he could almost swear that his back was on fire, as the haunting memories left him a slight schitzophernic. He felt his panic rising, but tried his best to keep it at bay. The humidity made it all the worse, nearly making him choke on his own breath.
He moved faster, tasting salt in the air. Yes, he was by the ocean! Anxiously dashing across the hot sand, he went for the water. His mind was already beginning to whirl and make him dizzy at the thoughts of fire. Without second thoughts, he plunged into the water.
The water was like relief as it submerged him. The bottom half of his body instantly shifted to their fish form. He liked the water so much better, where fire could not exist. He felt his muscles relax as the thoughts quickly vanished from his head. In the water, he was the master. Twisting his tail, he moved through the water. To him, being in water made him feel like he could temporarily get away. Just, forget everything in his past.
It was a long while before he finally decided to come up. He came up onto an island a bit off the cove, pulling his whole body onto the sands. At least now the sun was on the other side of the cove, providing shade to the beach of Talyn Island. It was as if as soon as he escaped the water, everything came back in full view. The pain, the sorrow. It was almost overwhelming.
Once he had his body out of the water he lied down in the soft sand. His silver gaze returned to the ocean, gazing across on a horizon that seemed to go on forever. He could not hold back the feelings he felt inside him as his ears lowered and he set his head on his paws. Even though he usually put on a tough-guy act, not everyone was made of steel. He sighed longingly.
"I miss you both so much..."

Jade was hanging around the cove once again trying to sort out her priorities, her sister and the rest of the travelling group would be leaving soon and they needed to know whether or not she was in or if she was going to stay with her Alphess in the Clan. But for now she needed a break from her own thoughts, it was terribly hot and her skin felt dry. She had been walking along the shoreline sticking clear of the water but now she couldn't take it anymore, with a playful yip she ran towards the water but stopped half way with her tail only half transformed and her back legs still present. She noticed a blue and green form moving quickly towards the water in what seemed like a panicked state.
He soon disappeared under the lapping sea waves, and with that she walked back into the water the rest of her back half changing and headed to the place where the male had disappeared. She reached the place only to find that he was no longer there she resurfaced and looked around only to see him dragging himself onto the islands sand. She quickened her speed heading to the place where he lay, but stopped midway then turned and headed off again, this time under the water. She had changed her course so as not to come up behind him and scare him. She now would be in front of him so he would most likely see her before she announced herself.
When she got close enough so that he could hear her she called out. "Hello my name is Jade, and who might you be?" She reached the sandbar and hauled half of her onto it leaving her odd tail in the water shielding it from his eyes so that, just incase he was judgmental, he wouldn't see it.

Jaye had closed his eyes to savor the images of his mother and brother in his head. It made him homesick, until he saw the licking flames surrounding them. "N-No... Lookout..." He whispered desperately. Though he wasn't dreaming, he couldn't help but be consumed in his fear. He seemed unable to open his eyes; until he heard a voice.
The memories instantly clicked off. His eyes flew open, his entire domeinor changing in an instant, as he jumped to his paws. She had unintentional startled him by jerking back to reality. Though, he refused to let it show across on his face. His back end had dried enough to change back. It was a female that held the voice, and his fur rose a little. Ever since his past, he hadn't much liked female wolves. To him they were only devious temptresses that would cut your heart out when they had the chance. Just as one had done to him. Looking at Jade suspiciously, he went back over her words.
He stood up tall to show his size. He was on the larger side of the scale for his species, yet to see another Cael as big or bigger than him. Silence fell between the two as he thought in his head. "She seems friendly... But that's how she started out too..." His ears and tail twitched to the thought of her. Narrowing his eyes, he tried to block her from his mind. He hated thinking about her. When he did, he could only recall the sorrow and pain he felt as he watched her refuse his forgiveness and walk away with that male. She had broken down his walls while they were together, only to prove that his father was right when he had said to trust no one but himself. After then he had built more walls, with a much stronger force.
A few more moments past. He never let his guard down, but decided that there was no harm in introducing himself. Sighing, the blue and green cael finally opened his maw. "Jaye." He muttered with his heavy Russian accent. He wasn't much a talker anyways, especially to new wolves. It's not like he was going to let the female in, anyways. He wouldn't let her have the chance to hurt him. He never gave anyone the chance. The other times he had decided to let someone else in he ended up feeling like he was dying inside, and he did not want to make the same mistake again. Now that he thought about it, who was to say he wasn't already dead inside.

"Well Jaye, what brings you here? She watched as his green and blue tail disappeared to be replaced with legs and a normal tail. He was something to look at alright his chest and muzzle a snowy white with green markings over his eyes. His back was a gorgeous shade of blue -blue being her favourite colour- with his paws and ear tips of the same colour as his tail. But also noticed a large burn on his back aswell as smaller ones on his muzzle. She started to feel a bit concerned as she cared about others deeply no matter who they were.
"Not to be prying but are you alright, you seem look hurt, are you ok? she slid further on the beach to get a closer look at his burns. She flattened her gold fins so that it would look more normal then pulled herself onto the sand in front of him as she awaited his answer.
OOC: Lost my muse midway sorry about that

Jaye stayed where he was, his silver gaze watching her every move. The more he looked at her the more he felt his heart sink. She was almost just like Taya. His mind reeled backwards as he tried to keep himself from assuming she was just like her. Every wolf was different, right? But to a wolf who had learned to trust no one, the thought was hard to swallow.
He noticed he had been lost in thought and shook his head, returning his attention back to Jade. His tail flickered anxiously at her question. "Traveling," he murmured in response to her question. Well, it was the honest truth. He had been venturing until the unpleasant memories took hold of him again. He shuffled his paws uncomfortably, but kept his mind calm. It was cool enough now that he wouldn't be bothered again by what had happened earlier. His eyes were filled with a distant look, almost like he was only half there. He had taken his years to build an emotional barrier to keep his pain and sadness off his expression.
When she started to get closer, his fur rose again and he growled low to her as he lifted his tail defensively. He did not like others getting close to him so quickly. He also didn't like wolves inquiring about himself. He narrowed his gaze, staring right into her own. "Keep your distance. I'm fine." He fought hard to keep his tone calm.
He wasn't fine. He hadn't been 'fine' since that day with the fire. Ever since then, each day seemed like a new, harder task. And with each day, he found it harder and harder to move on. He was slowly nearing his breaking point. He didn't want to explain to her how he had gotten the wounds; she shouldn't care anyways. They were caused by his own mistakes, so why should she put her nose in business that wasn't her own? Jaye had given up on the kindness from others and often put himself in a situation where he wasn't much liked because of his sensitivity. He didn't know anything better. To him, the world was full of darkness. Through his rash thinking, he hadn't even noticed her odd tail. His eyes were focused on hers.
In the back of his head, a faint voice chiped in. "Not everyone is like that." He had heard the voice many times, only to cast it aside and block it out. His body stayed tense and stiff, ears twitching. With everything he'd been through, he thought he had to right to be cautious around every new encounter.
