He sat underneath a thick and pale colored Palm Tree. He yawned and as he pulled his head back, he hit the base and a Coconut came barreling down and smacked him in the head. His tail jutted out as he whimpered in pain.
"Dang it! Man that hurt.." he sighed, pawing at his sore atop his head. He stretched and got up. "Maybe a walk along the beach is all I need to relax and enjoy the evening." he smiled softly, even though his spear-like fangs awkwardly poked out from beneath his top jaw.
The sudden breeze made it appear his coat would fly away and he would become naked because of how bony and scrawny he was for a Yagi. With bounce in his step he strode, quiet proudly for once, across the beach. Ready for what he may find along the cool waters edge.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]Water, water! Everything was sparking transparent water for her. Tortoiseshell inhaled the wondrous orange air before diving down, down into the depths. It was dark and beautiful. She felt the striking feeling of water rushing through her silver green fur and scales as she used her huge tail to propel her forwards. Using her flippers she kept darting in different directions, scaring any oncoming fishes away.
Underwater is her true world. It is where she is truly free, belong. She could see sounds underwater in form of bubbles, and she liked it. She loved to see how sounds that were uttered form into transparent balls of bubbles. On ground, Tor can see things more clearly and smell things more sharply, making up for her lack in hearing area. But to her, it is that the huge flippers and long strong tail which makes up for her loss. She would gladly lose her sense of scent and sight to be more efficient underwater.
Her lungs were bursting. She realised that time had rushed when she had been darting around so she made a last speeding up to the surface. As her muzzle broke the surface, her silver nostrils flared, inhaling heavily. Her slender head was buzzing with adrenaline and she could also still feel the rush of water brushing over her fur as if she's still dashing through the navy water. It was then when she decided it was enough.
Sailing steadily towards the shore, Tortoiseshell spotted a wolf's body stiffening. When she got close enough, she saw that it was in pain; his face was frowning, paws touching his head. And an obvious lone coconut was lying next to him. All it took is logic.
She splashed out of the water onto the sandy shore with a powerful swish of her thick tail. Her silver eyes saw that the yagi was walking down the shore at the same time. It won't take long for him to notice her. She waited either for her fishy part to turn into furry legs or for the yagi to approach. Whichever comes first.

He was not alone. He whipped his head around quickly as his balance was lost and he fell face first into the sand. Damn those horns of his, throwing his balance off! When the yagi finally regained his composure he looked to see what appeared to be a normal wolf, until he saw what was crawling behind it's forepaws.
"What... is... that?" he mumbled to himself as he tried to be polite and awkwardly took a step or two towards the female as it appeared to him now as he got closer. She was very pretty and slim and...and what was her name? He shook the questions from his head and thought to himself again. Well, she's magnificent for... whatever she is anyway. He snorted half in laughter and half in annoyance to remove a pesky fly from his nostrils.
"So... what's your name?" he finally spoke to her directly now that they were face to face. Crow took notice to her small appendages sticking out of her scalp. These are her ears? He wondered, how could she even hear out of them. The Yagi looked at them inquisitively, almost wanting to touch them. But quickly averting his gaze he threw out a bright and friendly smile, curious to hear what her reply was in turn. [/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]The cael was staring at the young yagi, her tail quivering softly. There was a wonder behind her silver eyes; she hadn't seen a yagi properly, how they walked and looked at close up. Tortoiseshell spent almost all of her life underwater, and as far as she knew yagis tend to avoid water. Her interest was dampened when the yagi suddenly turned, got unbalanced and fell. Face first. She winced and realised that he smelt her and was coming towards her. Tortie saw the yagi judging her, and started to second guess what he was may thinking.
From his face, Tor could tell that he was wondering what she is, and what she was doing here. He suddenly made some weird face. She frowned; was he doing something like snorting? Or whatever. Then a fly flew away from his nose. She blinked in sort of a realisation or something.
Tortoiseshell felt warmth return to her hind parts and legs. With a single glance, she saw the familiar glisten of her silver scales transformed into the slightly damp clumps of metallic green fur. Then, looking back to the horned boy, she jerked suddenly when she came face to face with the beast. Then his mouth moved. She stared at it, eyes half closed and ears twitched uselessly. She knew he was creating various sounds with that mouth and tongue, but all she was seeing was the mouth flapping uselessly even though she could spot the fur under those moving jaws vibrate gently. The speaking mouth transformed into a smile and the cael smiled back.
She scrabbled to stand up, and started to bounce around the male, just getting her space back. Then she tried mindbreaking. It didn't work, no surprise. That is one of the downsides of her power. She did not understand why her power won't work with strangers, the wolves she needed to use it with the most. Powers work in funny ways. Anyway Tortoiseshell sat down and cocked her head, ears twitching. Lack of understanding settled upon her delicate features. Perhaps he would get it, but then perhaps not.

Did other wolves speak different languages? That didn't make sense.
But her small nubs for ears could prove hard to hear so he tried to say it again a bit louder, not too loud in case he were to startle her. When that proved difficult, instead of trying to communicate with spoken words, he dashed off and brought back a piece of driftwood and started to run around sticking it pressed firmly into the sandy dirt. His tail held high as he half laughed, finding this a bit fun.
When he was finished he took a look at he work of art, simple words that said "My name's Crow, who are you?" He shook his tail vigorously, the stick still clenched in his tough jaws. The biggest and goofiest grin on his face. [/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]She looked at him steadily when he attempted to communicate again. Tortoiseshell's silver eyes were steadfast on his face, watching him struggle. She knew that he would get it in the end. Most did. Only if they are both really determined and interested, or else it would falter. She had seen enough wolves not trying to recognise who is likely to try and who isn't. Those who are interested are likely to find another methods of communication, and those who aren't would continue speaking, increasing volumes (she knew because whenever this occurred other wolves around would start complaining).
Tor's silver face lightened up when the yagi dashed off to retrieve a piece of driftwood. Then scraped it in the sand. It wasn't very... readable. At least he was enjoying this. His excitement was infectious so Tor ended up bouncing around too, following the yagi, her jaws opening and pink tongue lolling out over her tiny teeth. Two wolves running in various directions, two tails wagging. He stopped, so did she. The cael peered up at the yagi, the driftwood still in his happy jaws. She snorted a bit before looking back to his handiwork.
She didn't really know many words. Most of those she knows are often linked to nature as it is easy to provide definitions. She recognised "Crow". Annoying starving black birds. She remembered them pecking on her pelt when she slept. That bearded cael shooed them short after. Crow is basically a name, name of the bird. And the only name in this scribble so... this yagi, Crow? To ensure it she walked hesitantly towards the name and nosed at it then to the yagi questioningly. Then she nodded eagerly, knew that she would be correct.
Then she darted off. Tortoiseshell knows this cove really well, especially the beach. She knew where animals tend to go and where she could find them. She disappeared only for a few minutes before coming back with an empty shell of a turtle. Tortoise... turtle... They are similar to her; the only difference is that one just lives in the sea and another on the ground. Similar to the caella and the lupuses here, eh? Anyway, this shell was a representation of her name: Tortoiseshell. That bearded cael showed her that.
Dropping the empty shell she looked at it, nosed at it before peering up to Crow, panting and her slightly curled tail wagging from behind her.

Whatever breed of lupine she was, she could not hear and was deaf. He had never known anyone even from his own pack back then that had anything of the sort. But the young yagi figured it was something more unique than a hindrance. He noted how she seemed to get his name mainly from a discomfort of something.
Well, he had had more that one misfortune of crossing paths with the bird Crow. They too usually flew in packs and that they were quite an annoyance. He shook his pelt trying to shake the memory away as well. But at least she seemed to understand him and what his name was. Then he closely watched as she ran off behind something and he wondered if he had scared her away for a moment or if she wanted to play.
However, before Crow had the chance to move, the other lupine was back before him and brought back an empty shell. Was this a gift? He thought carefully and understood. the she wolf was trying to tell him her name as well. But what did a shell have to do with it? What kind of shell was it, he thought carefully. Those one creatures... turtles? Nah, they didn't venture into water, but another kind did.
Tortoises did though. didn't they? He bent forward and sniffed it, wagging his tail high in the air and barked happily like a puppy. She brought the shell rather than pointing the actual creature out so her name had to be Tortoiseshell, right? Tortoiseshell, that was a nice name. And at the same time it hurt him a bit to know she had never really been able to hear it.[/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3] Tortoiseshell stood motionless (with an exception of her wagging tail and panting snout), intending to remain in that position until she spots a flicker of understanding on Crow's face. She twitched when the yagi made a sudden jerking movement, especially with his jaws. Bark. She perked up when she was sure that Crow recognised her namesake.
Tor could still remember that day when she was introduced to her name. The cael, her mentor searched the plains for a tortoise. It took a few days before he finally found a tortoise. Alive one not an empty shell like he wanted, but it'll do, he had motioned. He then indicated her name. For a long while she thought her name was just Tortoise. After some exhausting pestering by her mentor, she figured out that her name ends in 'shell'. Since that day, she hoped that she got it correctly. Sighing inwardly, Tor missed him; it only had been a such short time when he disappeared from the living.
She started to move freely, only stopped when she saw that Crow wasn't being happy like he was before. Tortoiseshell frowned and stepped towards the yagi and nosed him in the neck, whining curiously. Her wagging tail invited him to be happy again and perhaps have some fun.

Almost as if she cared about him. Is that what having a friend is like? He suddenly felt her wet muzzle against him and the Yagi was a bit surprised. Never really coming into contact with another lupine like him like this before gave him a strange warmth.
"This must be what it feels like to share friendship with someone." He muttered under his breath and sighed. Taking in the moment before jumping up to his feet and dropping his stick at her feet and nudged it towards her. I know it's not much but maybe we can do something with this? he tilted his head to one side and gave an inquisitive look towards the driftwood and then towards Tor.[/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]She glanced at Crow's warm coloured eyes while her nose still buried in his scruff. He moved slightly and she could feel his warm and intending breath on her ears; he was speaking, wasn't he? She retreated, watching Crow. He knew that she couldn't hear right? Then why was he making sounds? The fact that Crow wasn't looking at her gave her an idea that his sounds weren't for her. There are some thing Tortoiseshell needed to learn about hearing wolves, and how they talk to themselves. She hasn't seen that before.
Whatever he was doing, the yagi stopped and dropped the driftwood and motioned to it. Tortoiseshell looked at it then at Crow. Then, suddenly, she dropped into a crouch snatching the piece of broken wood and dragging it a few metres away before dropping it. She whipped around to face Crow again before sprinting towards him with tail tucked in between her legs, and ears flattened backwards. She swept past Crow, nipping him gently on the leg before spinning again.
This time she made a beeline for her namesake. Ducking her head once to toss it up in the air before dashing for the wood. Dropping the front part of her streamlined body just behind the wood, facing the young male, jaws fastening around the wood's body with her tail wagging madly. Her silver curious eyes were peering up at Crow, waiting for his reaction.
She intended to make her way to the sea with her object, and perhaps Crow would follow her. She wanted him to see her true world.

But before he thought he had grasped it, he fell forward and dropped to a roll as he splashed around in the water.
He stood up and shook the droplets from his forest green patchy pelt. Crow shivered as the sunset came. He panted and crouched again, ready to get it this time![/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]She giggle-snorted through a mouthful of the broken stick, watching Crow flipping around in the water. Tortoiseshell was just centimetres away from the advancing waves. All it took was a look skywards for Tor to know that the tide is coming in. She turned to the crouching Crow, her slender jaws still gripping the polished trunk of the branch firmly. Wagging her hindquarters, she took a step backwards, then another. Another. Until her hind paws touched the water.
The familiar rising of warm sensation was starting to overtake her furry legs. Fur turned into scales in a flipping movement but slower, starting at her hind toes, rising to her pale belly. Her forelegs were still in their ground form (they didn't touch the water). Her massive diamond ended tail dug itself into the thick wet sand as she moved her fore paws backwards to her home. Then she retreated rapidly, a race against her legs' transformation into flippers. Her tail soon splashed into the deeper part of the sea and there she stopped with stick still in her mouth (and floating). It wasn't that far from Crow.
Her eyes twinkled with amusement, waiting to see what the earthbound yagi was going to do. The giant fluke behind her smashed the rippling surface violently and the flippers underneath her wiggled a bit, keeping her afloat.

But where did the Tor go? He scanned the water to find where she had disappeared off to.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3] She made a short circle in the water, holding the floating driftwood before looking back to Crow. He approached her slowly, before leaping. The cael's interested eyes still glued on him, even when he disappeared for a moment before breaking surface. Tortoiseshell was amused when she saw a lost look on his face, and decided to pull some fun with the confused yagi.
She went underwater (with a slight difficulty with the floating wood), flattening her flippers so that they were level with the seabed and used her diamond fluke to propel her forwards to the lost yagi before yanking her head upwards. Grinning only a few inches away from the golden yagi, she disappeared underwater again, but this time she was circling the yagi, like a shark circling its prey. Rapidly in her many circles she nipped the yagi, not intending to harm him before sailing away towards the darker part of the ocean. But this time she wasn't at her maximum speed; she purposely slowed to allow the yagi to catch up with her. And Tor kept checking behind her; it felt like playing with a baby cael in water.

That little Tor was really good at this game! His pelt clumped together and his flailing limbs thrashed in the water.
He had to admit, he never really had a friend he could play with before. When he felt he was near her he thrusted his hind legs forward and up to propel him under the surface. Crow's vision blurred but he could see well enough to clamp his jaws around the other end of the piece of wood. He tugged gently then quickly to try and catch Tor off guard.
We maybe underwater... but I still think I have the upper hand in strength Tor! he thought to himself. As they slowly drifted to the bottom Crow could feel the squishy sand in between his toes.
The Young Yagi, not used to being surround by water, started to feel lightheaded. What was this feeling? He felt he couldn't hold his breath any longer. [/scrolly]
