She quickened a little bit now that she realised that Crow is slightly faster than he looks. She swam steadily, keeping looking backwards, until she stopped abruptly. Her head was dragged backwards suddenly. She spun around and saw Crow's teeth fastening around the end of the wood. She saw success on his determined face. He tugged softly. Tor's thick body swayed gently in the water as she thought: Wasn't as strong as he looks.
Smugness was just starting to creep up to overwhelm her faint sneer when Crow unexpectedly jerked the wood. It escaped her grip. She released a string of bubbles in mock annoyance. Her tail swung wildly, scraping the sea bed, sending up sea dust and particles. That was when she realised that they were, well Crow was too deep for his safety. She glimpsed the yagi's heavy paws digging the bed, then up to his face. Tortoiseshell didn't know how long it takes for a yagi to drown and she didn't want to find out today.
Jaws clamping on the wood again and started to tug it, indicating that she wanted to go up to the surface. The silvery cael hoped that Crow would notice her movements and follow her.

He nodded and began to throw his paws wildly upward. His weight was starting to prove too great for him as he slowly began to slip out of consciousness.
Is this it? The Yagi wondered. Am I going to die here? Where I just made a friend...
His muscles began to stiffen as he let go of the driftwood. Tons of air bubbles left his maw as he struggled to reach the surface. He was too young to die! He had to make it to the top of the water, he just had to! He knew that life was sometimes too short, but this... this was ridiculous![/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]She kept tugging, becoming more desperate with each strain. Then it felt lighter, much lighter. Even before her eyes went down, she knew that the yagi had lost his lifesaving grip and started to drown in the murky waters. Tortoiseshell could see panic in the intense-coloured eyes of the drowning beast. The terrifying sight sent fear into the cael. She had never witnessed the slow death in the water even though she had seen a few bodies of waterlogged wolves. She didn't want to see yagi die so a part of her mind screamed her to leave the scene.
But another part hissed at her, insisting that she has to save him. She went with this part as he was her new friend. A friend who genuinely cares about her. He did not get bored of her suddenly just because of the lack of communication. She didn't want him to die; Tor also cared about Crow.
She dove down and saw the wolf struggling to reach the surface, but at the same time he didn't really moved. A whine escaped her as she spotted a huge group of bubbles released from his lips. With her scaly fluke she dove down again, this time attempting to get under the yagi. It was difficult as his paws were touching the ground and was sinking. In the water Tortoiseshell isn't as small as her land form so squeezing under the wolf wouldn't be easy.
But then, her water form is much stronger; her tail could stun a shark, or even a small orca. Tortoiseshell's chest touched the bed and used her snout to make a small gap between the sand and the male and started to wiggle uselessly. He was heavier than she expected. Then she used her flippers to create another gap, and pushed herself through before using her tail to ensure that the closing gap to remain open. Tor attempted to rise. Now she knew how heavy a yagi is and also knew it was not probable for her to lift him by all herself. She moved roughly in the gap, bumping against the waist of Crow, hoping that the yagi would start to notice her and start to swim up properly with her helping.

Why was that? He forced his eyes to open again and noticed his new friend was also risking her own life to save him from drowning. With the last of his strength the pushed forward and upward until they were closer to the shallows and he could stand with the water below his chest.
Crow coughed and choked up some water and he shivered with his tail tucked between his legs. Man that was scary! And he looked quite pitiful at that moment. He shook his body and from his dripping wet maw he began to laugh a bit. He had to admit, he felt kind of silly almost drowning with his first experience in the deep end of the sea.
"Thanks..." he smiled softly, and even though he knew Tor couldn't hear him, he knew she understood his gratitude. To make sure he wasn't confusing her at all he nuzzled under her chin gently and panted with exhaustion. His tail wagging merrily once more. You really are a true friend... he tought to himself.[/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]She didn't dare to start moving too much, lest she loses her grip on Crow or gets herself injured. She only moved when she felt the weight on her back grew lighter, and that was when she started to lift him. Water can be either your best friend or your worst enemy. But luckily Tor knew how to work with it so she used its power to support her friend. She moved away from the worst currents, constantly moving towards the shore and especially the surface. It grew warmer as they ascended, the rippling sunlight was comforting on the rescuer's back, causing her scales to glitter. The warmth of the water was an indicator that the surface was close.
She left Crow's waist when she knew the water was shallow enough for him to touch the ground without any difficulty. She saw him cough, throwing up some water. Tortoiseshell's heart wrenched, this all happened because of her. She just wanted to show him her world and... Well, he almost died! Not realising it, she whined pitifully. It faded away when she saw Crow's face. It was full of gratitude. It stopped altogether when he rubbed his nose against her jaws. Well, he's alive because of her. Guess that makes up for leading him to danger.
The water around her rippled; she was shaking from both terror of the situation and fatigue. Despite that, she smiled at him merrily. She hasn't lost a friend.

The tired Yagi trudged towards the sandy shading trees nearby and laid down. I don't think I've ever been so tired in my life. he stretched out and turning onto his side, his tan belly reflected the afternoon rays.
Maybe I should invite Tor to join me? But how? His head down on his damp paws as Crow shook his tail and stuck his tongue out panting a bit. Now that he thought about it, it was getting a bit late. Where would he stay the night?[/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]She shuffled towards the orange tinted shore and swung her tail around, leaving the water to allow it to transform. She flung her head back as she lay on her back, flippers stretched out, tail twitching. Closing her eyes, Tortoiseshell allowed the sun rays lick her fur golden, giving her much needed warmth. Then her silver eyes opened, peering at the yagi. He was lying down too, but on his side.
Slowly her unusual flippers turned into familiar paws, fluke into bushy tail and slender legs. She flipped on her side, looking directly at Crow's eyes (it was slight tough as he had his head away from her). Maybe she could try her power on him, seeing if it would work with him. She inhaled and collected all of her wild energy to start the connection. She allowed her mind to become blank, blocking any entries of possible thoughts except for a thought; Tor kept thinking that she had to get in his mind. Her mind strained, until she felt the familiar spark of other's mind. It didn't feel like a familiar chamber where she could see and feel everything (the sensation she had experienced with close wolves), it was just a brush. Tor knew this meant she and Crow needed to get closer to feel the similar sensation of the open chamber.
But the cael did pick up something. Something like... a thought. Crow was wondering something. Tortoiseshell nudged Crow, tilting her head, interested in what he was thinking about.

He turned to see Tor really, really close to his face. His eyes widened a bit in shock. Her eyes are soo... clear. Like water droplets... he felt his heart speed up a bit in realization of the awkwardness of the situation.
Umber eyes met sliver orbs. And he felt as if they had this connection, though he couldn't quite put his finger on it, it felt like they could tell what each other felt. I wonder why she is soo close... he asked himself, feeling his face heat up a bit. Poor Crow was too confused to understand what was going on.[/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [bg=a5b8a3]She didn't notice how close she was to Crow so his confusion went unnoticed. She turned her head when she realised that Crow wasn't going to respond to her nudge and yawned. Tiny pearls of teeth sparkled gold under the setting sun before closing and Tortoiseshell blinked sleepily. She rolled back to her belly and stood up, poking Crow in the ribs with her small paw and pointed the flame sky with her nose, eyelids kept dropping tiredly.
She left the male slowly, almost hesitatingly, unsure if she should wait for him. Tortoiseshell's destination was the rocks, safe away from the rising tide. Those rocks would be shaded as well; Tor had slept in that area many times before.

His tail wagging furiously again he trotted after her. He too was tired and to have a friend to keep him warm through the chilly night sounded like a great idea. Considering he still couldn't understand the whole love thing, he shook that moment off for the time being.
Crow just knew he liked being around Tor, and he was sure she felt the same about him. I want us to stay friends forever! He nodded to himself as they made their way to the rocks above the rising tides.[/scrolly]
