Tawny kneaded at the sand beneath her feet, her brown fur soaking in the warm rays of the sun. Her copper flecked, silver eyes gazed out at the ocean before she decided to step into it for a swim. She was in full lupine form at that point, but was standing just barely out of the tide's reach. The day was pleasant, warm and sunny. Absolutely perfect for swimming, as well as singing. However, she would definitely make sure no one was around before she began singing. She did not like to sing in front of others unless it was completely necessary, like singing to pups. She had done it before to teach them how to sing, but she was also aware that she had to teach them how to fight and hunt.
She stepped delicately into the water and allowed herself to change form. Her hind half transformed from lupine to fish, winding long behind her. Her gold scales showed themselves, the tail fin lingering between green and blue, the same shade on her paws, ears, and sharp spiny fin along the top of her tail. She was a powerful swimmer and, with one bound, she was in the water. Tawny beat her tail hard and swam around with the numerous fish, avoiding sharp corals and rocks and such. The water soothed her, made her feel better than she had been feeling lately. She hated feeling bored and having nothing to do.
Tawny sighed inwardly and made way to a rock the protruded out of the water. She pulled herself up onto it, resting the tip of her fish tail in the water, but the rest of herself on the porous stone. She was bored for a reason. There were no pups in her pack to teach and she had no true relationships with any, except for Jade, her long lost sister. She had only discovered this recently, and it was the only interesting thing that had happened lately. There was nothing else for her to do. She often considered leaving the pack, as there was nothing there for her, but she loved Jade too much to do so. She had lost her sister once and she would not lose her again.
She flattened her ears and lifted her head back, allowing her beautiful voice to float out of her throat. She sang a sad song, one that came from her heart about her loneliness and her sadness. She was lonely indeed, as her sister was the beta and she was merely a teacher. She did not get to see her sister often. Her voice drifted among the rocks:
Guess there are times when we all need to share a little pain And ironing out the rough spots Is the hardest part when memories remain And it's times like these when we all need to hear the radio `Cause from the lips of some old singer We can share the troubles we already know
Turn them on, turn them on Turn on those sad songs When all hope is gone Why don't you tune in and turn them on
They reach into your room Just feel their gentle touch When all hope is gone Sad songs say so much
If someone else is suffering enough to write it down When every single word makes sense Then it's easier to have those songs around The kick inside is in the line that finally gets to you and it feels so good to hurt so bad And suffer just enough to sing the blues
Sad songs, they say Sad songs, they say Sad songs, they say Sad songs, they say so much
She continued the song, allowing it to flow from her throat with ease. Her voice was beautiful and, when in lupine form, it was the only way any other wolf could identify her as a cael. The song went on and she repeated the lyrics, subconsciously hoping no one else was around to hear. She did not like singing in front of others, embarrassed of her talent.

It had been a long while since Jerrad had gotten a good amount of sleep. Night after night, nightmares of losing his brother over and over again haunted his dreams. Last night had been no exception. As soon as he awoke from the dream, trembling and fur standing on end, he had taken off out of his den and into a sporadic direction. He wanted to get away from it, run from his mistakes. After a while he found he was venturing away from the packlands. Before he knew it, his paws were dashing onto the beach, throwing up sand behind him. Without thinking he had plunged into the water, paddling madly until he felt surface under his paws again. The burst of adrenaline left him gasping for air and his legs trembled as he pulled himself onto the sandy surface of the island. He lie there, eyes shut tight in pain as he relived his nightmares once again.
He finally gained his composure and felt his breaths even out. He groaned low, slowly standing on his shaky legs. He turned around to gaze back across the water. His eyes were red from the sleep deprovation, and it was really starting to take its toll. He lowered his head in shame as he thought to himself. "Where is a hero when you need one?" He sighed and stood stood there idly.
"... Turn them on, turn them on Turn on those sad songs When all hope is gone Why don't you tune in and turn them on"
The song fell on his eardrums and he instaly snapped his head upward. The voice was amazing, beautiful. To him it seemed like it was calling to him. It sounded so sweet, so endearing. Jerrad couldn't help himself as he slowly began to move in it's direction. "Is it the voice of an angel?" Had an angel come to take away his pain? To be his savior? Oh, how he prayed so.
As he got closer the sweet, sad song only grew more emotional. He found himself in a trance as he stepped back onto the beach on the other side of the island. He gazed out across the water, deep ocean eyes darting to find it's source. Was she a Goddess of the water? And then, he saw her.
Her pelt was shimmering from the waterdroplets, the scales on her tail glittering brightly. The voice coming from her maw made Jerrad's jaw drop. She sounded so amazing... Was she the angel he was hoping for? He shook his head as hope flared up inside him. He opened his maw to speak, but thought it'd be rude to inturrupt her song. So he sighed softly and sat down, tentively swaying back and forth to her rythmic tone.
"Brother, is she an angel? She sure sounds like one... Please, give me some way out..." He prayed silently, eyes fililng with worry and regret. Her song was so sad. Maybe he could cheer her up too... And she could in turn return the favor. He hoped that she could help him. Who would be able to save him? He closed his eyes and fell into a trance to her beautiful music.

Tawny's song came to an end, the sweet notes finally seizing in the back of her throat. All grew quiet once more, minus the light blowing breeze and water rolling up onto the sandy shore. She gave a small smile to herself and opened her eyes slightly, which had fallen closed at some point during the course of her song. She wasn't sure what the song had meant to her, but it was something she always sang whenever she was feeling down. She had learned it from her mother.
A light sigh left her mouth and she knew she felt lighter than she had been before. She was down about not being able to do anything for her pack, as there were no pups for her to teach and she felt relatively useless to the Clan. It was a rather saddening thing to her, but she didn't think about it much, unless she had spare time, which was almost all the time lately. The thought of leaving the pack crossed her mind again and she seriously debated it, but she did not want to be alone if she did.
Tawny's ears twitched when she finally noticed the other wolf's presence. She turned her head just slightly to see a male, obviously a Lupus, standing on the beach of the island not too far away. His eyes were closed, as though he had gotten lost in something. It didn't take too long before she realized he had been there when she sang, so it must have been that he had gotten himself lost in. For a moment, she was completely embarrassed, almost never having sung in front of others, but the other was almost glad that he had been there to hear it, and enjoy it as well.
Silently, she slipped into the water, leaving a small splash behind her, and moved her tail so that it propelled her through the water towards the male. When she was close enough, she surfaced quietly, allowing only her head to be seen. She sniffed lightly at the male and, despite being several feet away, she could smell the Clan on him. She was relieved he was one of her pack, that way she wouldn't have to fight a stranger.
Tawny moved away some and swam to a rock that was close to shore. She rested her paws on the stone and smiled at the male, deciding to voice herself. "Hello, stranger. Did you enjoy my song?" She was being kind to him for the sole purpose that he was in her pack. Her copper flecked, silver eyes glanced over him quickly. He was definitely a Lupus, there was no mistaking. Even though the Cael species did not do well with Lupus for some reason, Tawny had always made an exception for any kind of wolf, no matter what type of species he or she was.

He loved being one around nature. No pack and no responsibilities, he liked the idea of traveling around unknown areas. This beach was only one of the few he had yet to scour for treasures and the like. He was sniffing around when he lifted his head up quickly and nearly fell backwards on his hind legs, not just one... but two wolves were nearby. He was debating turning the other way, but nothing was back there. Maybe he could just continue along the beach line and be left alone.
The scent of their clan was clear a day and being he wasn't in their clan, he was hoping they weren't hostile to strangers. He was just passing along and considering he had not seen or come across any others lately, the male found it alright to cross and continue the way he had originally planned regardless of the other two.
"I wonder what it's like... to be needed, to be in a family. Or a pack..." he mumbled to himself. His long bushy tail swerved from side to side as his forest green splattered tan pelt almost rustled in the ocean breeze. With his gaze straight ahead, his umber eyes burning with a passion to try new things, Crow strode proudly even if he was in enemy territory now. [/scrolly]

Jerrad stayed silent, her sweet melody lulling him to a subconcious state. Her voice relaxed him, made him let go of his thoughts. It felt so nice to finally let it go. His tense body finally eased and relaxed and he gave a sigh of relief. He hadn't felt this good in a long time. He hoped that it would last forever.
Though, as soon as her last notes came, the sensation was gone. He felt the weight fall back on his shoulders and his fur prickled as his muscles tensed back up. It was only temporary relief. He groaned, shaking his head as he finally opened his deep blue orbs. It seems like she had noticed him, moving away from the rock she lie on and moving closer.
Jerrad sucked in a breath as he stood back up, coughing to regain his composure. He looked at her. Because she was in the water, he could not detect her clan scents. She spoke to him and he opened his maw to reply. "Hello." He found himself unable to speak more at the moment. He fell silent, glanced sideways at the ocean as the sun beat down on his pelt. He bit his lip and shifting his weight from paw to paw anxiously. "Well come on, say something." He finally became still as he looked up at her with his red eyes. They held a gentle touch as he looked at her, but at the same time the underlying look from before had yet to leave.
"You have a beautiful voice..." He spoke softly. It was the honest truth. He had never heard a voice so amazing, that made him feel like he could get away from it all. He swallowed hard, as if trying to swallow his emotions. "Calm down, Jer. It'll be ok." He imagined the voice of his brother in his head and he breathed slowly, cherishing the memories.

Tawny could only smile at the way the male appeared startled. She hadn't meant to do so, but it had become a subconscious habit of hers to sneak up on and spook others. She had done it to Jade multiple times. She let a small laughed come out of her throat, light and hearty. She hoped to make him feel more at ease, not uncomfortable with the atmosphere. "No need to shy, my friend. I won't bite. We are in the same pack, after all, if I'm not mistaken by the Clan scent laying on you."
She pulled herself off the rock and onto the sandy beach, dragging her tail out of the water and showing off her bright gold scales. They glittered in the moon that was now high in the sky. She shook herself off, waiting for herself to dry so she could change back into her lupine form. It didn't take long for her scales and fur to dry. Slowly, her fish tail transformed back into her lupine legs, and she appeared as a plain brown wolf. Her silver eyes flecked with copper were still the same. She turned around and paced over to him, sitting in front of him with a smile at the compliment he had given her.
She felt her skin boil at the compliment. She had never real sang in front of others and she had not received a compliment on it before. "Thank you. I don't usually sing in front of others... I don't like to, for I'm embarrassed of my voice." She really had no reason to be. She was a cael after all, and all cael had beautiful voices. She had just never shared hers before. It came to her attention that she did not know the male and that she had not introduced herself. "My name is Tawny. I'm a Teacher in the Clan. Though...there are no pups in the Clan for me to teach. I've been wandering about with nothing to do." It was her reason for singing in the open.
Something of interest caught Tawny's attention and she turned her head to look at the opposing bank, finding a male Yagi there. By the looks of it, he was rather small for a Yagi, which more than likely meant he was very young. He was out all alone and there was no reason for him to be. The sight of a lonely wolf made her sad. She glanced at the Lupus beside her. "Looks like we might have company." She looked back at the Yagi. "What is such a young wolf doing out all alone?" Tawny watched the Yagi walk along the beach carefully with her eyes. It almost seemed as though he wanted to ignore the two Clan members.

So much for being invisible to everybody. He decided he might as well approach them since they seemed pretty friendly at this point. I mean, why would they bother if they weren't even interested in the slightest?
His horns were dull and flat looking under the moon's rays, showing that they were probably not taken care of well. The Young Yagi gave his best warm smile and sat down hear them, forming somewhat of a triangular shape. He cleared his throat and glanced at the other wolf who seemed to be in a bit of a trance.
What had caused the other lupine to become at ease. Where they mates? It didn't seem like it. Besides the fact that he had only heard of wolves having mates and the definition, he wasn't quite sure he knew how mates were supposed to act together anyway. [/scrolly]
