Erena on the other hand was well and truly pissed. “Why did you have to pick a canyon of all places to live, we passed a more than acceptable swampland back there..” Oteka rolled her eyes and continued on traveling through the canyon, her webbed toes making moving through sandier parts much smoother than harder rock surfaces. She could hear the constant complaints echoing in the back of her mind but Oteka did not care to even give them the importance of responding to them. She was exploring the area around her, taking in the new scents around herself while ignoring the constant chatter in her head. “You know you’ll never make it here, you were born to be near water..” As if the being in the back of her head knew everything Oteka chose that very moment to veer her path and begin heading towards the river.
“Oh would you please shut up!” She snarled outwardly seeing as there was no one around her to here her she figured it was just as good as screaming it mentally. Soon enough the smell of water entered into her bill and at the back of her throat she could already taste the water and was grateful for it. “See? Do you see I am right now? Its not too late to turn back…” Oteka was really beginning to wish she would run into another wolf, a bigger, meaner wolf, if only to goad the wolf into some kind of confrontation to shut the simple-minded being in her mind up. It would seem when she was happy Erena for the most part kept her inner bill closed and swam through the depths of her mind.
Upon seeing the river she sighed happily, even though she hated herself for it and began to move in close for a long drink, and suddenly there was silence in her head, beloved, cherished silence. Apparently being near the water was enough to please the creature into being quiet. “Praise the Spirit above..” She leaned down and placed the lower half of her bill into the water, sighing inwardly as the cool liquid went down her throat. After a few long swallows she backed up to the sandy bank and began to push up the soil with her bill. The few insects and other creatures that were un-earthed were quickly eaten, as angry as she was at how good they tasted she could not only survive on meat. Number one her body craved other dietary supplements and number two, meat had to be eaten in very small bites.
Oteka was rare in her moments of peace and quiet, she had always wondered why she couldn’t have a graceful, or beautiful second soul, someone that could understand her predatory behaviors. But no, the ‘Great Spirit’ had gifted her and merged with the soul of an ugly, stupid, scared little platypus. Oteka rolled her eyes as she sat on the sandy bank, her semi-short, stumpy beaver tail slapped the wet earth beneath her. The sound was comforting, even though she hated not having a fluffy, long tail like the other wolves she had seen.
She felt like a weird mutation on the myou species track and for a moment she closed her eyes and fell back into her memories. “Why remember all those sad times, when so many good ones can come, let’s go swimming..” That irritating, nasally voice grated on her very nerve endings, but she did not have a witty remark to come back with. Oteka lived within her memories, it fueled her anger and with anger she could torture the poor, poor being. She had no desire to enter the water and in fact stood up, shook off the sand and began to walk in the opposite direction. “But..but..we were so close..”
Oteka smiled to herself..”I told you, you were in for the ride to hell, you are going to wish you never came into this life attached to me..” Her voice was seething with cold, pure hate…

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks Would it hurt to rest for a moment? the raven soul complained, clearly irritated and in an extremely foul mood. Why the hell are you complaining? I’m the one doing all the walking, you ass.
Vereine sneered. He too, was in a foul mood but more from the second soul than his aching paws. Your body is my body, your mental and physical pain belong to me as well. So when you hurt, I hurt. Now go and take a damned break already. I need to become familiar with these lands, if not then I’ll look like a complete fool. And one of us has to keep up the reputation… You have all day to do that nonsense, so just lay down or something because it’s becoming a bloody pain. The two continued to banter but Vereine just gave up and didn’t even bother to reply anymore. He was still new to these lands and they remind quite foreign to him. If he were to quickly blend in with the pack, then he needed to know as much as possible; starting with the territory. Dupre quickly became annoyed at the fact that the wolf had decided to ignore him. In return, he started chanting the names of those from the wolf’s past pack, those who had made his life pure misery and a complete hell. Harsh whispers of those now living and dead, all engraved in his mind. A loud snarl escaped the male’s mouth, his expression far from the one he would speak to others with. ”Fine! Just shut the hell up and I’ll go find a spot to rest!” Vereine yelled, much louder than he intended. Shit. Ha, that’s right. You’re lucky no one heard that… or maybe someone did? ”You know what? Just piss off already.” the black mass replied, not really bothering to hold it in anymore. He was usually quite stubborn and wouldn’t let the raven win so easily, but today wasn’t the most brilliant of days and he truly was in quite the foul mood. Black paws continued to meet the ground, the contact between the two practically soundless. There was a slow and steady rhythm to it all as the wolf continued to walk at a lax pace. Knoxie dear, you aren’t stopping… the second soul pointed out, clearly not amused in the slightest. ”Yes, I know. If you were paying any attention, you would have noticed the scent of water…” Vereine responded, his eye narrowing. So you plan to rest by some splash of water? Ah, well at least that’ll get some water in you. the wolf simply just rolled his eyes. The two had calmed down but the tension was still there, and surely not leaving anytime soon. It really wasn’t uncommon for them to have random spats, they would quarrel all the time on just about anything be it what kind of prey to catch or where to sleep or even what season it was. Vereine let out a sigh at the thought. Being caught up in his thoughts, he hadn’t noticed the scent of another wolf until he had almost reached the water source. His gaze flickered left and right, trying to see if he could make out any sort of figure. It was quite the helpless attempt with his eyesight until he noticed a brown splotch not too far from him. As he continued to walk closer, he noticed the figure was walking away from the river. He wasn’t in the mood for a chat, especially since Dupre was quite testy today and would most likely cause him to snap in front of the other, but maybe a chat was a good idea. Vereine needed to get his mind off of the raven soul and make some progress with getting to know the members of his new pack. He kept his wings tucked to his sides, pressing them tightly against his body and then padded to the other, breaking his slow walking rhythm. He could hear the second soul snickering in the back of his thoughts, but decided to ignore it, trying not to let Dupre get on his nerves again. From the scent, he could make out that the other was female, causing a smug grin spread across his lips. He was in need of practice for his charm and persuasion, this was the perfect opportunity. When he was close enough, he lifted his head, opening his mouth to speak. ”Excuse me, Madam!” He picked up his pace a little, catching up to the other. You said we were going to rest, you ass… Ah, well that can wait until later. Not all the time, most of the time she did and she would continue if only to ease her own pain about her feelings of being lost, and ugly, and alone. Despite having joined the pack, she felt she would always feel alone. After all, who could ever share her feelings of insanity, of hatred? Even though she was moving away from the water, the scents trailing into her bill told her she might not be alone for long after all, wolves had to find drinks and baths didn’t they? Her natural brown coat was the only beautiful thing about herself, the soft yellow underbelly just looked like it ached to be touched and the top coat of brown and lighter highlights looked as though she spent hours grooming. Luckily for her it was one of the few attributes she was thankful for. Not that she ever said anything.
She muttered, “Nobody but maybe a bat myou who was blind could ever see beyond….this…” looking cross eyed down on her bill she closed her eyes painfully and shook her head. “Perhaps if you opened your heart instead of freezing it around your hatred someone could see…” She snarled and thought about bashing her head on a rock just to shut her up..but it just would give her a headache or a temporary reprieve, she wanted a permanent solution. It was during this inner conflict that Oteka heard someone call out to her..even calling her ‘Madam..’ She snorted, as if anyone could be that blind..
Never the less she turned her body around, his eyes blazing from the left over remarks from her other half. What they landed on was another story. She may not have had the best eye-sight but she could tell he was black in color, slightly slender in build, and he had what looked to be…and upon closer inspection wings. Her feet came together and she stood up straight. She was prepared to fight, and if the other wolf wanted to as well, (She could hope any way, though she doubted it by his calling her ‘Madam’) well she would be fine with that. Erena had already made a small sound and scuttled into the back of her mind in fear.
Satisfaction roiled through Oteka before she could stop herself, like a heady mixture or drug. She was nearly dizzy from the trembling silence within her mind, and then her own thoughts could once again take over. While her body language had given him an audience, she may not have looked particularly inviting, but that did not seem to deter him. She decided to see how far she could take this interaction, she could either be convinced to do something exciting and dangerous, pick a fight, or simply interact, she was not quite sure how the options would play out. “May I help you?” She was thinking of adding on something self depreciating or insulting but it might have just been too early for that.
A small voice piped up from the back of her mind, “Run! Just run before he eats or hurts us!” Her head shook no at once and she stared at the dark haired wolf waiting for him to tell her exactly what his intentions were. You see, Oteka was like a masochist, she loved pain and would do anything for it. However in that little masochist was a sadist as well. Within her mind were so many channels and thoughts of her deserving the pain, and not just that she deserved it but Erena too. Secondly since she was the one who derived pleasure in the torture of another she could be called a sadist as well.
The complications within her mind were treacherous and she found anyone that tried to step within her mind and motives usually fell through a pitfall and found more fear and anger then they could ever imagine. Even Erena had stated her mind was like a forest with strategically dug potholes that kept anyone from ever seeing the light at the end and her true motives. For now though, the overtly angry and sadistic female did not care about the torture of others, just herself. All of HER-self. She tilted her head, one ear flopped to the side as silence permeated the air around the two wolves. One brown and yellow, like the earth over a morning clouded sky, and one dark as the night that terrified prey and predator alike.
Oh yes, if she was going to pick one scary looking wolf to help her in her quest for Erena, he definitely looked the part. Unfortunately, he did not sound it, but everyone had their buttons didn’t they. Her eyes took on a most sinister look and her beaver tail, flapped the air a few times simply to the need to move some part of her body, and let’s face it, the beaver tail was not exactly threatening looking…
Oh yes..two wolves with bad eyesight staring each other down in the desert...>.< [/scrolly]

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks You still have a chance to back out of this. the voice inside of his head hissed. Vereine tried not to roll his eyes, what had gotten into the raven? Usually he’d be all for the whole ‘let’s go around being total liars and trying to ruin people’s lives!’ gig, but now, he wanted to leave? Dupre, what’s gotten into? You’re usually the one forcing me to go make social contact… Now you want to run away like a coward? My my, you really must be in an off mood today.
the wolf mused, mock horror clear in his tone. The other had decided to remain quite, mumbling in the background and speaking a string of profanities. Sometimes he would question as to what he had done to deserve such creature to become his second soul. He had met many myou, blessed with such kind hearted and loving second souls, living quite fine within a pack of their own, not having to worry about the other’s antics and getting them exiled, killed, or causing pure torture. Why had he been forced with such a cold hearted one? Maybe he wouldn’t have ended up like this, cruel and cold hearted as well, and maybe he wouldn’t have had to deal with the scrawny helpless body of his. Vereine had almost forgot about the other wolf he had approached, quickly erasing previous thoughts and starting off with a somewhat clear mind. As he got closer, the once splotchy brown figure had become more clear and he was able to make out other fine details. He quickly noticed the bill that had taken place of a typical wolf’s snout, automatically giving away the fact that she was of myou decent. He fought the urge to give the female a judgmental look, but couldn’t help but examine her. Beyond that bill of hers, a pelt that was of natural earth colors. As his eyes continued to scan over, he noticed the fur that covered her stomach was made of a striking yellow. It was quite the strange mix, but he knew he had seen an animal like that before, he simply just couldn’t place it. Brilliant, look what you’ve gotten us into, now. She’s bloody hideous, you moron. Couldn’t you have decided to have a chat with a more eye appealing wolf? the raven soul complained, acting nothing short of plain rude. Would it kill you to have some class? You say that as if you actually have some… Maybe because I actually do? Yeah, that’s what you think. He wasn’t the most flashy or beautiful wolf either, simply just one color and nothing more. The only difference within his whole appearance was that one eye that just so decided to be colored white. It wasn’t that lovely either, in Vereine’s opinion and made him stick out like a sore thumb. In a world full of flamboyantly colored wolves with majestic wings and bodies of magnificent sea creatures, he was stuck with bland old black. Even the female in front of him had something unique about herself while he on the other hand was possible the most un-unique looking wolf out there. Maybe if he had been more muscular it wouldn’t have mattered as much, but no! He couldn’t even have that! He was forced with a scrawny and twig like form that he probably would never be able to get rid of. Coming to an abrupt halt, he gave the female enough space to try and prove he meant no harm. He had far too much experience with first encounters and how they usually go wrong; though many females were so naïve and would open up to the first male they saw. How pathetic they were, in his eyes. Males on the other hand were territorial and would kill on the spot. Those were the ones he had to look out for. Now not all the females he had encountered were like he had described earlier, oh no, some of them were quite fierce and would kill without hesitation as well, but these ones were usually too fiery and were usually all bark and no bite. He especially hated these ones, but acted just as gentlemanly nonetheless. Quickly returning his attention to the strange looking myou and bowed, continuing with the gentlemanly act. ”I’m terribly sorry if I bothered you, but I’m quite new to these lands and was hoping to familiarize myself with the many members of the Styrrstdar Cadre. he said, his tone much kinder than the one he had used with Dupre and then added a warm smile just for show. Ha, “new” my ass. You’ve already met about five or six morons, that doesn’t sound very new to me. Last time I checked, she didn’t need to know that… And who’s to say she doesn’t? Well clearly she doesn’t recognize me, she would’ve said something else by now… Tch, fine. and with that, Dupre quickly silenced himself and watched as the events unraveled before him. word count ;; 838tags ;; oteka ! chess !ooc ;; I don’t even know anymore. xDmusical inspiration ;; I know I’m A Wolf – Young Heretics [/blockquote]

He's not moving away, if anything he is coming closer!! Back up, back up! If you get too close he could eat us alive..! Of course the creature was completely irrational, truly taken over by fear. Oteka could not contain herself and groaned out loud, just unable to take the comments any longer. If she could have screamed out loud without losing what dignity she had left, she would have. It was just that annoying.
Her shoulders rolled and fell, and her chest just seethed with the intake of air. If her physical appearance didn't scare him off, maybe her looking like a roiled up lunatic might just do the trick. She just for the millionth time in her life wished she had beautiful coat colors, or a longer tail, or even wings like he had, anything to detract from her self imposed ugliness. Her eyes stayed on his face, and she watched him as he looked her over. He did not nearly need to give her any looks, because the one she shot him was pure nastiness. She was not going to give him the luxury of grimacing or putting her down.
She had half turned to leave and leave him there looking at her odd behind when the voice in her head suddenly piped up again. Wait! He's just standing there, maybe you should see what he wants.. Why should it matter what he wants? He is sitting there looking at me like... she paused in her thoughts and then just stated the obvious: Like I am the weirdest, ugliest thing he has ever seen...The finished thought filled her with a depressing consternation. Her tail seemed to droop lower and she seemed to be glued to her place there a few feet from the water.
He had no idea how lucky he was. If he was going to stare and scrutinize she could do it right back, with no qualms about being rude. Even though she noted the drab darkness of his coat, she knew she would have killed him in a heartbeat to have that color instead of her mud and sun colored double coat. His one eye seemed off, and was a milky white in color, and that was the only aspect of him that made her smile. Maybe if he had a slight eyesight problem, maybe he didn't see how hideous she truly was. She doubted it though, by the way he stared he saw fine, at least out of one eye.
He was of small stature, so even if she wanted to pick a fight with for the sheer pleasure of tormenting Erena, he did not look like the fighting type and once again she was filled with disappointment. He could at least boast he had wings, even if he couldn't fly, they were impressive, much more than what she had. Not that she would ever tell him how lucky he was. She was just not that nice. Too full of bitterness to bend and do anything kind.
She tilted her bill up in disgust as he put on a smile for her and spoke with such nice words. If she could wrinkle up parts of her bill, she would have. But she chose the more honest approach: Note honesty, not niceness. Why don't we just cut the nice act hmm? Out of all the members of the Cadre there are more than a dozen attractive females and strong males. If you want to make friends or get to know other members so you can scrutinize them or laugh at them later find someone else. I may look like a freak-show but I don't need to hang around and have it be proved to me by having someone stare at me....
Before she could turn tail and run figuratively Erena's voice rang clear again..Why don't you give him a chance to speak again? Why do you always run people off when they try to make friends with you or get to know you? Maybe if you gave him a chance you'd see not everyone thinks of us, you the way you do...Her snort was audible. Give him a chance huh? You know, you may think you are so smart or so wise, but in your natural form you can get in the water and stay there. No one faults you for getting in the mud and water, and living there, its nature to you. Its NOT to me. Wolves are proud creatures, they have families, long, bushy tails, beautiful snouts. Here I am strung between the line of you and what I am supposed to be and you robbed it out of me! You think that by letting this winged black cloud hover around me that that's going to change things?! Fine. We'll just see how he responds to what I said, then you can just shut up because youll see I am right.
She turned her head back to him, setting her head at a lower angle so her bill looked longer, and she waited in that position to see just how the ebony male would take to her being so, ungracious to his offer of getting to know her. Even if she weren't naturally angry and paranoid, she doubted she would have fallen for the nice smile and cutesy words. There were just too many nice for the sake of ulterior motives types out there, and she couldn't help but think he just wanted to gain more information to tell others and ridicule her later with-her worst nightmare....

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks The look the female gave him made Dupre burst out laughing. I think she hates you, Knoxie! the raven laughed, still in a hysterical fit. The two rarely had females going about wanting to rip out their throat, except for the occasional angry mother who Vereine had knocked up, but other than that, the rejection was quite rare. Especially the fact that he’d barely spoken! The thought of it made the second soul’s laugh to echo louder. Vereine let his head tilt to the side slightly, quickly letting his gaze fall upon the other’s eyes. She clearly seemed not to want to be in his presence and being the gentleman Vereine should have been, he would have respected that and backed off. But oh no, he wasn’t that at all, he was someone who didn’t enjoy rejection and made it a point to win this one over. Usually he had no care for females, as long as it gave him some sort of gain, he would do anything but once that goal had been met, he would throw them off to the side and completely forget about them. This one didn’t seem all too important, but nonetheless he needed approval and acceptance from everyone if he were to make it in this pack. No one could please everybody, but Vereine could sure as hell try.
The male let his brow arch when the other was about to turn away. If she were to leave then yes, maybe he would have followed her, but it was a hot day and Dupre was about to push him off the edge of sanity, so maybe he wouldn’t try that hard. He debated what angle to play today; continue with the gentlemanly act, maybe put on the ‘I’m-pathetic-and-weak-give-me-sympathy’ act (which from what he had assessed within the few moments of their social contact, would not work), or just be himself and start acting like a complete ass. I knew you were desperate, but really? Her? Dupre scrutinized, clearly not approving of Vereine’s intentions. You know we need this. I don’t want to have a bad reputation this soon. Besides, look at it as a challenge. Clearly she hates us.
You Dupre interfered, before quieting again Okay fine, me, but maybe if I play my cards just right, then we can change that! the male replied, his tone mischievous and playful. He noticed the female was watching him and let a soft chuckle escape his mouth. He scanned the landscape behind her, trying to take in as much as possible. His original intent had been to familiarize himself with the territory more but this was a much better distraction. Vereine would surely enjoy toying with this one, but there was so much… negativity around her. But that’s what made it more fun, right? Sure, the feisty ones did tend to annoy him with their naïve determination, but just watching them tick was enough amusement for the wolf and raven soul. The sound of the female’s voice made his attention snap back to her. The words she spoke made him want to laugh. Cut the nice act? Bloody hell she’s onto us! Vereine thought. A smug grin spread across his lips at her words. If the lady wishes we end this little façade then who are we to deny her of that? from what Vereine could tell, Dupre was clearly planning something, but what it was exactly, he hadn’t the slightest clue. ”Pardon me, Madam. I wasn’t aware I had done anything to make you think that I thought of you as a ‘freak-show’. And excuse me for my rude staring, it’s just I have never seen a myou like you before. It’s surely astonishing to see a type of myou such as yourself, I couldn’t help but marvel at the rarity. He spoke, his voice still calm as if the other’s words had no effect on him but there was a hint of a joking manner etched into it as well. He inclined his head politely as if to offer his apology and hope it would be put into consideration. Well… I think you could have been a little ruder, don’t you think? You aren’t going to let her push you around are you? I’m not going to forbid it. My god, you sound like my mother… ‘I don’t forbid it!’ the male mocked, trying to mimic the second soul’s voice. And who even said she was pushing me around? And even if she was, it’s not like I couldn’t defend myself. he heard the raven scoff at the back of his thoughts. When the wolf lifted his head, he stared directly into the other’s eyes again. This one had cared about her appearance, how she looked, and what others had thought of her. It humored Vereine greatly because he too cared about these things, but for her to point it out so bluntly, it really did amuse him. Though, it wasn’t as if he was without flaws as well because god knows that he was full of them. He could hear Dupre go off again on how she wasn’t worth their time and another good ol’ string of profanities, but it all went ignored, because Vereine was determined as hell to win this one over in his favor. ”So please, would you reconsider on us getting to know each other better? he spoke, arching a brow. Oh yes, Vereine was extremely determined about this one. word count ;; 909tags ;; oteka ! chess !ooc ;; Dupre… the equivalent of Vereine’s mom. >:D musical inspiration ;; Trade Mistakes – Panic ! The red minerals within the canyon mingled with the dust and dirt around them and gave the appearance that the canyon walls had been bathed in blood at one time or another and had permanently dyed the rocks crimson. Even though the water was clear, the lack of light often made it look like dark liquid which ran through the mountainous cliffs. Her eyes crawled over the landscape and even in it’s weird beauty, it wasn’t somewhere she would have chosen naturally, and even though it hurt her mind like an ice pick through her brain she had other desires. She wanted to be in a natural forest, with lots of green trees and grasses, and lakes with mud to luxuriate in during the hottest time of the day.
Crying out mentally, WHY, WHY, WHY….Why can’t I escape these desires, these weird wants? Oteka could not simply fathom and accept that myous naturally shared the desires and wants of their second souls. It was beyond her that if she accepted these wants and needs that she could actually find some peace within herself. But along with being terribly stubborn she was full of bitter hate, more than any accepting, compassionate part of her, they were drowned out by the negative. If the other male was brave, and valued himself at all she figured he would do the smart thing and remove himself from her presence so she could continue her self loathing somewhere far, far away from him.
Had Oteka been privileged to the conversation going on within Vereine’s head, she probably would have bit his wings off and rubbed salty sand in the wounds thereafter. Because of the way Oteka felt about herself, pleasing a male, or making friends was never something she put that much stock in to. After all, her own siblings had pushed themselves away from her, and any males in her previous pack had all but turned their hearts cold, and their eyes turned through her as if she were invisible. Now here was this winged idiot standing there trying to play nice with her as if he truly cared.
Erena spoke once more, Maybe he isn’t pretending, maybe he genuinely wants to get to know you as a pack member. If you show him some nicer part of yourself maybe you can become nicer…at least to me..Oteka rolled her eyes, I don’t need to be nice to you simply because we share a soul. I don’t understand why you insist on making my life miserable. Making me want to go places and do things just for you, you are so selfish. I am selfish?! Who runs around in the heat until I become cranky and threatening just to get a drink of water. Who avoids the water and mud like they will poison you? You won’t even roll in the tall grasses to give me any peace, so who is the selfish one Oteka? Why can’t you learn with me and be at peace instead of being angry about something that is never going to change?
Oteka was in denial. She would never see her actions as wrong. They just couldn’t be. As many times as she had seen cruelty and meanness in the eyes of others she was completely justified in her torture of the smaller water creature. But because of the heat she might have contemplated going for a swim if only to be weightless for a long time and if Erena found some peace, maybe Oteka could gain some quiet time. Sometimes when pushed to the brink all you could do in the end was compromise and even she did not want to admit that it was what she had to do at times.
Her cool eyes stared down at him, he didn’t think he had done anything wrong? Well, she would just have to correct him when he stopped blabbering about this, that or the other thing. She snorted as he called her a marvel, what nonsense, there were plenty of other myous out there who had many more..appealing attributes to stare at. She could see from his posturing and continued speech that he seemed determined to win her over, or at least exasperate her until she gave in and said, ‘Sure, sure, let’s be best friends..’ She could feel Erena once more, you know, he has continuously dealt with your big mouth and bad attitude. I think you should at least try to give him a chance.
Now was her chance, but what to do, drive him away, or let him keep posturing and talking until he felt like he had gained enough ground to then run away, goal accomplished. Decisions, decisions. “What you had done is stare at me like you have never seen anyone different before. Hasn’t anyone ever taught you that staring at someone is completely rude and asinine?” There, that would take care of the first comment. “As far as being a rarity, don’t bother to blow smoke with me, not only do you not have the decency not to stare, you don’t even have the decency or manners to introduce yourself. Also, if you are so interested in getting to know me why don’t you ask my name while giving me yours? You may think you are slick as oil but you are floundering….Sir.” The last word was spat with so much venom if words could burn, he would be scarred with three letters across his chest, S…I…R…
“Reconsider it..Hmm should I reconsider it? What do I have to gain from getting to know a bird brained, clumsy winged, black supposed charmer?” Oh she was not above insulting someone to the point of making them go away. However something nagged at her mind that even her insults wouldn’t push him away. Her shoulders sagged, some would think in defeat, or maybe she was simply steeling herself for round number two. “Since you are obviously not intelligent enough or mannerly enough. Oteka.” With that being the only doorway she would give him, she turned and walked toward him, near head on. She looked like she might slam right into him, but at the last moment she walked to the water and began to take long, rather enjoyable laps of the clear, refreshing liquid. [/scrolly]

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks The world went into a blur for a split second and with that alone it sent up a shot of pain. His front leg started to shake slightly as it went weak but realizing what happened, Vereine caught himself and took a step back, forcing as much pressure onto his leg as possible. Really, Dupre? Out of all the times this could happen, you have to choose now?
Everything before him continued to flicker from a decent focus to splotches of colors that made no sense. Why do you blame this on me? It’s not my fault you’re so damn blind. Oh stop lying, I know you’ve figured out how to control this, one way or another… Dupre didn’t respond, not bothering to bicker with the other in his state. Vereine forced his eyes to stare at the ground, hoping it would help focus his vision. He’s quite use to the random blurs and the small pulsing behind his eye so he hasn’t entirely lost himself yet, but he’s still quite aggravated and the female’s snappy comments aren’t helping. Vereine wasn’t completely foreign to the concept of his faltering eyesight, it’s a mishap that’s been placed on him since birth, he was bound to get used to it at some point. His eyes flickered to the female for a brief seconded and then snapped back to the ground. He could feel the pain behind his eye start to dull slowly but the sensation hadn’t been completely erased. Thankfully, the back and forth of blur and focus also calmed but that too still had yet to be fully erased. Dupre continued to whisper things throughout the male wolf’s thoughts, mainly derogatory remarks about the female across from them. The strange thing was that it was actually helping, distracting Vereine from his current eye predicament and giving him a good laugh. Of course he held it in but it really did amuse him. See, you really do hate her. She’s just wasting your time, so now just get some damn water and get your ass out of here. the enthusiasm in the raven’s voice was pretty clear as well as his hatred. The words that came out of the female’s mouth made him laugh. He didn’t even bother anymore, clearly this one was the ‘no bullshit here’ type and he might as well comply. ” I take it you don’t like all the sugar coating, but don’t throw a bitch fit when someone decides to say something negative about your appearance so bluntly. Would you rather I have insulted you because I’ve got a friend going about somewhere and he sure as hell has got a lot of those insults ready.” another quick laugh escaped his mouth. ”And when I get to know someone, I usually ask if they would care to share anything about themself before jumping the gun and bombarding them questions. And it seems a little naïve to greet every person you see with a ‘What’s your name?’ don’t you think?” the last part was spoken in a childish tone as he tried to get the point across. Hearing the other refer to him as Sir amused him quite a lot and it just made him want to laugh even more but he kept his composer and let his expression turn into a more devious one. ’Bird brained, clumsy winged, black supposed charmer’, huh? Well, I wonder what would have given her the impression you were clumsy? It’s probably because you look bloody weak and don’t seem to have any balls… Dupre mused and if Vereine could, he would have ripped the birds head off and chewed the rest of him until they were nothing but a mesh of blood, flesh, guts and other sorts of gore. Not now, Dupre… We’re going to focus on the enemy now… You can trash about me later, just think of something we can use against her if she decides to fire back, which, she most likely will. he heard the second soul scoff and then quickly quiet himself. ”Oh, and tell me if I’m mistaken, but you were staring at me as well, were you not?” Vereine added. When the other had walked up to him, he held his stature and his expression remained the same. He was ready to remain like that if that was what she wanted but when she quickly turned away, the male let out a soft sigh and stared as she ventured over to the water. Oteka… sounds like an interesting name, I guess. Sounds pretty daft if you ask me, but then again, I wouldn’t want to name my offspring ‘Vereine’ either. Tch, says the raven named ‘Dupre’. He continued to let his tail wave back and forth along the ground as he debating following after her. She seemed interesting but he feared for his reputation as the ‘gentlemanly’ sort and wondered if this one would go about spreading the word of how much of an ass he actually was. Oh well, even if she had, he could have made something up to defend himself, maybe saying that she was just looking for attention or mentally unstable or just that she was an anti-social who tried to ruin his life? Either way, he would’ve probably thought of something a little more plausible when the time came, but for now he would try and think little of the consequences of his actions and just go with it. He walked over to the water, though staying a good foot or two away from it. Vereine’s eyes tried to focus on Oteka’s form but she still remained a smudged brown and yellow figure. Thankfully, the small pain had subsided, it was now only a matter of getting his eye to work normally again. It was bad enough being completely blind in one eye but now not being able to use the other was too much for Vereine’s liking. Instead he turned back to the water and watched that instead before glancing back at the female. ”Vereine.” he stated bluntly without much emotion in his voice. He wasn’t fond of saying his names to others, he wasn’t sure why, but he just rather not say it. But for social norms and manner’s sake, the wolf did so either way. Vereine could sense Dupre’s disapproval but ignored it nonetheless and waited for what the female would say next. word count ;; 1062tags ;; oteka ! chess !ooc ;; *Shot For Taking So Long* TTT___TTTmusical inspiration ;; The Walk – Imogen Heap [/blockquote]

Suddenly, the tension and thickness ceased, almost as if he had given in and let her win. Of course, Erena nagged at the back of her mind; he doesn’t seem the type to just randomly give in, not without purpose. Maybe now would be a good time to be on alert… Oteka simply snorted. Even though he doesn’t look like a fighter, there is not much I could do to defend us on land Erena. Maybe a claw mark here or there, and be lucky enough to take out an eye but you cannot seriously think I could do anything worth while unless we were in the water, and even then, I could only hope he would drown with those sad excuses for wings on his back. Back to the mission at hand, her eyes remained on the male before her, refusing to technically turn her back on anyone, weak as they may have seemed. She would not have long to wait to see what really lay on his mind.
She wondered if all different wolves were this way. Different breeds (because who could tell he was myou) hated on other different breeds, always looking for a weakness. She could tell he was physically weak, and so therefore probably worked extra hard to maintain a level of intellectual excellence to have other perceive him as useful. She could find a few uses for him, she thought with a devious smile. Push him off one of these cliffs and see if those weak wings would save him. Bitchy as always her eyes hardened to stone. She listened to his first monologue with something close to amusement, and bordering on rage fastened to her face. She was curious about him, it was not unusual for different wolves to wear many masks to survive but she wondered exactly why he was wasting his breath here. For that was what it was a waste of breath. “Who exactly threw a bitch fit here? All I said was cut the crap, calling me Madam and all that bull? If you chose to insult me or suck up really isn’t up to me, I’m not in your mind pulling the strings am I?” Indeed she was not within his brain or she would really have reason for that bitch fit he mentioned.
Even though her own eyesight was lacking she could see his expression change from outright blunt emotion, to the childish nature of his tone reflected on his face, and finally to the more devious and dark expression. Her own eyes seemed to darken to complete and utter black as she stared at him. Erena was in the back of her mind at this point, huddled into a small space of silence. It was in this eerie moment of silence the prey-like creature was terrified all bets and niceness were off and violence would ensue. To be frank, Oteka was not so sure violence was not on the way herself. But lucky for her, she happened to be near water so she would be at least slightly more adept at defending herself than on land and rock exclusively. “I may have been looking at you, but only to assess you as you were assessing me. That’s what you were doing right? Calling me a marvel? You had to assess my physical characteristics to name me a marvel, I was simply returning the utterly rude behavior on to you..”
She had remembered he had sighed in relief when she didn’t actively try to hit him, which simply confirmed her thoughts that he was not a fighter and therefore his importance was placed on his brain and faculties therein. Oteka actually had no intentions of getting to know any of the other pack members. The Cadre territory was big enough that she could wander for days without ever being questioned or run into anyone of consequence. For now she intended to keep it that way, frequenting places that no one else would go, and then she would not be subjected to their stares. Now she was immediately regretting coming here and damn sure did not care about this male’s reputation among the other petty, attractive idiots that happened to co-habitat this area. Oteka was at a loss of what to say next to him, now having his name. She rather liked the sound of it, even if she would never tell him. Some positive things she simply could not stomach and she was angry at the fact that not only did he have nice coloring and wings, but a pretty name as well. He was a male and he had more attractive features then she could ever hope for, life simply was not fair in her mind.
She stood there near the water, the wet dirt beneath her paws actually feeling so good, a small sound was made in her chest as she gently kneaded her claws within the wet soil. The liquid she had drank was still cool, all the way down her throat and into her stomach. She would never tell anyone but she would be happy to get in the water and feast on the salty greens beneath the water. Saliva built in her mouth and she quickly swallowed while turning her head to look at the other wolf…she muttered in a lower, less venomous voice, “You look like a storm cloud..” It was actually the first thing she had said that was not a complete insult, but it was not exactly a nice thing to say either. Oteka was not the best at nice civilized talk but she figured she could at least try….That’s the spirit, Erena was suddenly alive and well and very chatty, giving her topics to chat about that were nice. She completely ignored the small water creature, and creeped a little close to the water, she would reward the creature for it’s silence by allowing the water to gently wash up her paws and forelegs. Erena squealed in happiness and rolled over in her mind. It was as if she could feel the soft fur of the smaller platypus within her mind and suddenly, it was as if a breeze that wiped out the noise. A loud sigh escaped her and she turned around and looked at him. “Why did you really bother to say anything? Really?” [/scrolly]

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks The sun continued to beat down on Vereine’s coat and it caused him to shift his body constantly, trying to ignore it. He was never fond of warm areas so god knows why he chose to live in a pack that resided in the canyons, but now he started to regret it. He imagined feeling his coat getting heavier and heavier, as if it were trying to pull him down onto the earth. The curse of a black pelt, it’s nearly impossible to stay cool, especially during the hot and scorching summer. The water started to look more desirable now, his body aching for the cool liquid to wash over him and rid him of this annoyance. Just when he lifted his paw to take a step forward, a loud scream coursed through his brain, causing him to stop. Bloody hell, Dupre! What was that for?!
the wolf hissed, turning his head away from the female to make sure she couldn’t see him wince. Don’t you dare go over to that water, Knoxie. the raven squawked, its voice continuing to boom through Vereine’s head. What is wrong with you?! You were just begging to take a drink earlier, now you won’t even let me take a step before bursting out my eardrums. He waited for the second soul to respond but there was nothing but silence. Tch. He rolled his eyes and then turned back to the female, brows arched as he listened to her words. ”Yes, but a proper lady would have politely asked and instead you throw a fit and put yourself down.” another amused smile spread across his lips, ”And yes, because god knows what I would have done if you were running through my thoughts.” Vereine added, a hint of sarcasm in his tone. Quickly looking over her, once more, he noticed she had webbed paws. This added to his amusement as he thought of what hell it could possibly be, walking around on land with them. He had nearly forgotten about the sun’s rays that threatened to burn him to a crisp and let out an exasperated sigh. He knew if he dared take another step toward the other myou that lounged in the water, he would be rewarded with another ear piercing scream and decided it wouldn’t have been worth it. Dupre was in acting quite moody today and he had a feeling it had to do with meet this new… stranger. Vereine’s eyes locked with the female’s, not afraid to lose this staring contest they had going on. He laughed at the other’s logic. ”Ah, well then shall we call it even then? We were both staring at each other… sound quite reasonable? A little strange actually, but reasonable nonetheless.” He resisted laughing at his own words, because it really did sound a little strange. He wasn’t going to deny he was staring at her, because there would be no use in doing so. As long as she wasn’t denying anything either, he was quite satisfied. Vereine looked at the female, this time an expression of amusement and mock horror covering his face. A… storm cloud? His mouth opened slightly, trying to figure out something to say in response but nothing came to mind. It was certainly something he hadn’t heard before, and it was one of the kinder things he had been called, so he wasn’t exactly complaining, but it just sounded so strange. His mind worked quickly, figuring out what the other had looked like at first glance. ”And you look like a strange duck. he responded, trying not to laugh. ”With a beaver’s tail." Vereine added, his muzzle pointing in the direction of her tail. She probably looked next to nothing like a duck, maybe with the bill and webbed paws, but other than that the similarity was not so similar after all. And the beaver tail was off by a long shot as well, but it was the only thing he could think of. He’d traveled a lot and seen many species other than the wolf ones, and he was quite positive he had seen one similar to the other at least once, but the name just didn’t come to mind. He rested on his haunches, not bothering to keep up his guard. Usually, Dupre would have scolded him for acting so weak and not being cautious but the second soul was strangely quiet. Part of Vereine thought of it as a blessing, the raven had finally learned how to shut up, but the other part was slightly worried. What had he done to finally make Dupre silent? Hello? You still in there, Dupre? Or has the Great Spirit finally decided to be kind to me and kick you out of my head? There was still no reply and a quick sigh escaped his maw. He mentally shrugged it off, thinking it merely just a phase. The fellow myou’s question startled him, his eyes widening as he tried to register the question. Though, the look of shock had vanished as quickly as it had appeared, as Vereine put back on his emotionless mask. Why had he bothered? Because he was bored? Looking for company? Just for the hell of it? The male honestly had no clue. It could have been a combination of all the possibilities, but Vereine was never one to look for company, just for someone to screw around with. Was that it then? He was just looking for someone to make time go by? ”Oh, just felt like having a chat. His tone had very little emotion in it and he didn’t bother to add any other details. Saying something else may act as fuel to the fire, and he didn’t want this one to have another reason to put him on a ‘bad list’. Or maybe he did? He mentally sighed as he came to the realization of how indecisive he was today. word count ;; 992tags ;; oteka ! chess !ooc ;; I’m so.. sorry… x___xmusical inspiration ;; Orbit - She [/blockquote]

Erena was practically cooing at this point, being allowing to be near and practically in the water, while the male did not advance on them, to her it was a day in heaven. Oteka was confused by the male, but did not let any concern grace her abnormal features, her body being cooled by the lovely drink and splashes she had gotten in. Staring at landscape around her she began to roll her eyes and turn around from the water to look at him once again, the water still running through her legs up past her paws.
She looked indignant to his cooler exterior, her face not quite petulant but close. There was little chance she would ever get along with anyone but this little conversation had to be one of the longest she had ever been a part of, which she supposed meant something. Erena cackled in her mind, ‘You like him! That’s why you haven’t stormed off and been your usual angry self!’ Oteka mentally screamed into her mind, feeling her second soul screech and back up. ‘I have no such feelings for any creature walking this earth! How dare you even voice such an idiotic opinion. It’s more likely you like him because you find him sickening handsome and nice, well why don’t you just LET HIM EAT YOU!!’ She screamed the last part her eyes actually wincing with the effort as her head began to throb. Of course she couldn’t hand Erena over to the male, they were permanently attached and the very thought just killed a small part of her inside. She shook herself to disengage from the mental argument.
Her ears fell slightly to the side, “A proper lady? Who exactly are you looking at again? What part of me looks like a proper lady?” The very idea was absurd to her that he would even reference her to such names. It was almost worse than an insult because in her heart of hearts it was all she ever wanted to be called and be. “We could only get so lucky and you’d kill yourself..” Erena gasped and spoke, ‘That was horrible Oteka, why do you have to be so cruel!’ ‘Shut up Erena. For the love of anything you find holy please Shut. Up.’ She felt her toes twitch in the sand and water, and she knew if she entered into the water she could swim as fast as any wolf, except perhaps a natural water being like a Cael. However they weren’t going for a swim and thusly Oteka could be rather clumsy on land, not that she would give him the honor of watching such a display.
His constant stream of amused and laughter just made her watch to scratch out his eyes, for all the good it would have done. Her eyes however were jointly locked with his, she was not afraid to stare him down if that is what it took. However it seemed he was just as belligerent as she was, which meant both of them would fry, one in the sun and one in the water. Erena piped in again, ‘You know, you both could make the like ten step walk to that rock outcropping and enjoy this nonsense in the shade…’ Oteka’s eyes flitted for a moment to where she spoke before turning back to listen to him once more. “Why would it be strange to be looking at you? I can see why you were staring at me..” She didn’t just concede did she? Of course not. That would be weak.
She could see them coming to many stand stills as they continued this conversation/argument. It seemed as long as they kept communicating and occasionally insulting each other, it seemed things were going smoother for all that. Which was odd. Oteka did not usually find being insulting, and having to insult in return good company. Yet the male had not left yet, which was also…strange.
She watched the look of mock horror on his face at being called a storm cloud actually amused her, his facial reactions were amusing in general but especially this look and she turned to look at the shade again instead of showing him she was amused. A strange duck? Beaver’s tail…Erena huffed in disgust and began rattling off about what exactly was what and for once Oteka was not mad, the features that he called attention to where thanks to Erena, so technically he was insulting her and not Oteka. She smirked and snorted in mock disgust of him as they continued looking at each other. Oteka had purposely picked a pack in a land where Erena would be unhappy but she did not account for the adaptability of the creature, maybe because she did it because she did not have a choice regardless.
She was still waiting for an answer to his question, but instead of them both sitting in the sun with their semi and truly dark pelts absorbing the heat and dragging them both down into worse moods than they had started in she decided to change that. She began moving along the edge of the water toward the rock out cropping, getting out of the water until she could sit in the shadowed area, which although still hot was nowhere near as bad as the open sunny area. He could remain out there if he wanted to but she was intent on being smart for herself. When he gave such a short clipped answer to her she couldn’t help but make a comment, “What’s the matter bird got your tongue?” She was unsure of how close to the truth she was, naturally assuming him to be a keiyou of different coloring, not a myou. Maybe she would find out the truth but who could know?

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks Vereine started to paw at the ground, trying to be discreet but probably failing. He wasn’t himself in the slightest today, especially with all the fidgeting. Usually he had this collective composure, extremely lax and no sign of strange movements. All this shifting and moving about, it was slightly frightening to him. He couldn’t tell if it was the heat or Dupre equally strange behavior. The raven was known to have his fits and moody moments but to stop speaking entirely was entirely new for him. It couldn’t have possibly been the new stranger Vereine was chatting up, it was a normality for him to speak with others, it wasn’t like he was socially awkward. He stared down at his paw, watching as it moved as if it had his own mind. Taking a deep breath, he urged himself to stop with this fidgety nonsense and regain that original calm stance.
The water continued to look inviting and the male would kill right about now to be able to at least take a small drink. His eyes stared longingly at the clear liquid, mentally slapping himself for not taking Dupre up on the offer while he still had a chance. He continued to ponder over the silence of his ‘other half’, as Dupre liked to refer to himself as, and came to yet another dead end. He’s seen females play the ‘silent treatment’ card multiple times and his usual cold and unwavering heart had not showed even the smallest care, but now seeing as the devil himself was pulling such move baffled him senseless. Come on, Dupre. Let us talk about it like reasonable adults? Your childish antics will merely act as fuel to the fire.
The silence in Vereine’s head continued, a tinge of disappointment clear in his thoughts. Of course he was grateful for the silence and lack of rude and witty comments, but there was the feeling of hatred, jealousy, and anger running about the wolf’s mind. There was an abrupt stop in his train of thought. Jealousy? Is that it? Oh my bloody hell! You’re jealous aren’t you! Dupre, why on earth would you assume such a thing?! The mere thought made him want to giggle like a little childish pup and it sure made Vereine’s day at least twenty times better. There was no response but the shift of emotion in his mind was clear that Dupre could hear him loud and clear and in no way wanted to acknowledge it. Now his next question was what in the world made the second soul have these thoughts of jealousy. It couldn’t have possibly have come from him talking with the female, he was positive of it. He had chatted with many other females and not once had Dupre become jealous, what had made her any different? Oh shove it, I literally live in your thoughts, I know you fancy her. I fucking dare you to say otherwise. Dupre screamed, his voice booming through the male’s head. Dear god, Dupre. Honestly, what makes you think I fancy her? I haven’t even known her for more than a day, and you know just as well as I do that I simply don’t ‘fancy’ people. He retorted, not sounding very pleased but still letting the other know his indifference. The raven snorted and then fell back to his corner of silence, though with his emotions still running like a radio signal. Vereine mentally sighed before turning his attention back to the female. ”Hmm, there you go again, putting yourself down. A proper lady relies not on looks, but on manners. Personally, I think looking the part isn’t as important as acting the part.” A warm smile playing on his lips as he spoke the last part. His smile quickly turned into another laugh. ”Maybe we would, but at least you’d follow me down to the relentless pit of hell.” He could sense Dupre was just as amused by the others comment but quickly changed it back to that string of hate and negativity. He didn’t want to press on the matter with Dupre any further, he had figured out what had been bothering, now there was nothing left to know. Well, maybe the reason as to what caused this jealousy, but other than that, he felt there was no more need to deal with the raven. Vereine listened as the other continued to put herself down, making Vereine shake his head. ”You really must learn how to appreciate your looks, you’re awfully concerned with them. And I don’t see how I’m any different when it comes to being stared at, I mean look at this drab coat. And these god awful wings? I’m no prettier than say… that dirtied rock over there.” He replied, using his muzzle to act as a pointer again, gesturing to the random thing over to his right. He didn’t like pointing out his flaws to other people, he was quite positive next to no one was, but if it helped lessen the hate and tension between the two, then he was willing to comply. Vereine’s eyes followed the other as she moved along the water, moving to what appeared to be a source of shade and shelter from the heat. He contemplated on following after her, weighing the issues of who would cause more pain, the female or Dupre and his screeching. He tilted his head at her comment, then simply answered ”Ah, no, why do you say?” and with that he followed after her. The downside to this was that with every step he took, a strong wave of pain crashed into his thoughts. With the experience he had from Dupre’s temper tantrums, he had let it simply numb the back of his mind, though he could still feel ever surge. The thing was, he wouldn’t put up with Dupre’s shit for just anyone, no it had to be a hell of a good reason. With the sudden realization, he simply just wanted to kill himself, right there and then because, maybe the bastard was actually right. Maybe he really did fancy the strange female. word count ;; 1023tags ;; oteka ! chess !ooc ;; pardon any mistakes you may come across. Maybe if you can get close to him you’ll stop being so mean to me and everyone else. Obviously he doesn’t find you repulsive because he didn’t run screaming into the canyon did he?’ Oteka groaned outwardly this time wishing she could just slam her head into the rock to the point where she knew she would get peace and quiet. If Oteka passed out, Erena had no power to speak, at least where she could be heard any way. The petulant female contemplated the hard rock behind her, but if Vereine didn’t already think she was a lunatic she was fairly sure trying to smash her own brains in on the rocks would put and keep the thought within his head. However the contemplating of physical pain had shut Erena up, apparently if Oteka felt it, Erena felt it, and the little water dwelling creature did not want to feel what the rock felt like up close and personal. Satisfaction puffed her chest and put a mischievous smile on her bill.
Her eyes had been drawn to his inability to sit still, it was actually rather annoying considering Erena had already put her on edge by practically cackling the ‘Oteka and Vereine sitting in a tree song’ her nerves were just shot, and just as she was about to say anything about him acting like a nervous twit Erena made a loud noise in her head. Not a word, or a scream but almost like a pup’s growl only higher pitched. Her ears actually rang with the sound but it was tolerable and she still opened her bill only to have Erena speak again, ‘You know…he smells different, something has changed…why aren’t you picking up on these things? What is wrong with you? He could have changed his mind and be thinking of ways to drown you, or push you off a cliff..’ That was Erena for you, typically happy but entirely paranoid, the subtle shift in his smell and personality and seemingly actions had been noticed by Oteka but to be fair they were both at a disadvantage. He was more brittle and small boned with those, ungainly wings, and she had webbed paws and a bill, not the best offensive equipment ever.
‘Next time you have something to say Erena, could you do it in a normal way without the puppy shrieking growl? It has given me the beginning of a head ache. Also, do not concern yourself and your paranoia with me. His change is probably because it’s close to melting point out here and he is black, it’s hot enough for us and we are brown. Imagine it being even worse than it is now, with NO WATER.’ At this thought and reasoning Erena went to the back of her mind and settled down, Oteka had given in to more than one of her whims lately and Erena did not want to lose that no matter how paranoid she was. Erena was indignant and Oteka could feel it, but caring about it was another matter entirely. Oteka was a prime example that not all myous had a loving relationship with their second souls, some it was more a love hate relationship, but for Oteka it was more annoyance and hatred. She was never really sure when it would turn and if it would ever turn in to something better or less hateful.
She heard him talking again, and so once more she had to pull herself out of her own head and currently Erena land to listen to what he had to say so she could come up with an amicable insult. “Well no chance of me acting the part so why look it?” She snorted, although the sound came out more than a little weird since she did not really have a snout, and spoke again, “You know, for someone who looks like an oversized crow you sure do like giving advice to someone who looks like me. Trying to draw attention away from my looks doesn’t change what they are..” Her last sentence ended in a whisper, tapering off in indignance, but Erena was full of life again, ‘You see! You see! He’s being nice and not even mentioning your looks…something is going on here…I can just tell!’ She snorted in between Erena and his next comment. “What makes you think I’d follow you anywhere especially hell? Insulting someone wasn’t a sin..the last time I checked.”
Her eyes glittered with amusement at the whole insanity of this conversation. The sun, though still beating down was getting lower and lower in the sky and she had not realized just how long she had dallied here with Vereine. The name in her mind sounded smooth and low, a lower octave than she or Erena was capable of and while thinking that she quickly shrugged the thought away. Pfft, she’d drop dead before letting those thought anywhere close. Again she rolled her eyes at his comment, “Maybe I am concerned with them because everyone else is. You don’t see anyone lining up to be friends with me do you? You don’t see males fawning over themselves to be with me do you? Maybe I am so concerned with my looks and putting myself down because at least if I do it, I get the satisfaction of doing it first.” These comments were hard as steel because even as she said them they were like nails beating down on her mind and heart, but it was still the truth.
She nearly out rightly laughed as he compared himself to a dirty rock, apparently he was as near sighted as she was, and she was so angry that he was actually going to make her sat something nice she just wanted to choke the life out of him. “Well…if I were a different person, or listening to what others said they probably think black is a very attractive color, and I am sure many people are jealous of your wings, can you even fly with them or are they just for show?” She had cleverly worded it so that it was not necessarily she offering the compliment but what others may think, and she had sneakily put a question out there to him as well without sounding too terribly interested. “Besides the rock is muddy and almost red, you are completely black..shall we add color blind to your amazing attributes?” Okay so she was a bitch no one was debating that but in a way it was a back-handed compliment, at least in her warped mind.
“Well I say because in addition to looking like a puffy storm cloud, you sort of look like a crow..or whats that other thing called..raven or something? Same thing..” She indifferently shrugged as she watched him struggle to come closer to the rock out cropping to enjoy the shade. She wondered if he was physically disabled, or just that hot that he had to take things slowly. Either way she simply sat and waited, looking like the mischievous beacon of peace that she surely was. ‘Yeah right..’ Erena responded scoffing in her mind. ‘If he gets closer maybe you can preen his feathers for him…’ “DAMN IT!” She shouted out loud and then abruptly shut her trap, terrific, if Vereine had heard that he’d for surely think she was insane. But Erena was just too much to take making even the smallest interaction a hell bent, downright torture. She could have kicked herself because she knew…deep down she cared if the other male thought she was crazy, and that in itself was ludicrous. [/scrolly]

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks Vereine seated himself a decent amount away from the other, just remaining on the outskirts of the shade. He could sense Dupre’s continuing struggle. It made it harder and harder for the wolf to keep up his outward appearance, but it was clear that he was irritated within his thoughts. Of course, in the presence of this strange female, he would have to act as if nothing was wrong; he didn’t need her added on the long list of wolves who thought he was insane. Even if he tried to snap at the raven through his thoughts, it could possibly mean losing the current mask he had on. Vereine’s head continued to ache and at this point, he couldn’t really care if the female was going to attack him or not, he just needed to rest. He let his head fall against his paws and eyes close. At first glance he may have appeared to be some careless wolf who let his guard down, but if one looked more carefully, they’d actually realize he was quite tense and not at all relaxed.
This only made the raven grow more frustrated. What has gotten into you?! Sit up! Dupre screamed, breaking his silence once more. The wolf merely snickered and shifted his weight, trying to get comfortable. He didn’t have the slightest care what the female thought at this point, but he was curious to see what her reaction was to some random stranger lying down in front of her. And he lives! Decided to talk again, my dear? He thought, the last couple words like acid and full of hate. He was losing his patience and was debating on getting closer, just to piss the raven off even more. I don’t know what’s gotten into you! You’re acting so damn strange, so just get up and move! Likewise, and why should I move? It’s cool and shady and like you said earlier, we’re both ever so tired.
Dupre screamed even louder this time, making the other wince. His eyes were still closed, the darkness fully engulfing him. In all honesty, he really was extremely tired and Dupre’s little tantrums were no help on his mental state. If he could, he would’ve just sleep here and rest, but it came off as far too weak for his liking, and leaving himself defenseless like that was no good at all. Of course, he was just setting himself up by just lying where he was, but at least he was conscious and would have a chance. If he feel into a state of dormancy, who knows what would have happened. The second soul seemed pleased that Vereine still had some sense in him, but was still irritated by the fact that he wouldn’t move. Be grateful, you prick. the wolf sneered, sensing the ravens change in emotions. Vereine opened his black eye, staring at the other myou as she spoke. ”If you acted the part, maybe others wouldn’t care so much if you looked it. I doubt it will kill you if you tried.” He mumbled, sounding as if he wasn’t exactly paying attention to things anymore. The pain in his head was growing irritable and he was practically praying for it to stop. He couldn’t decide which one was worse, Dupre not being able to shut up or Dupre sending ice daggers through his thoughts. If Vereine wasn’t so tired, he would have laughed at the other’s comment. ”Hmm, oversized crow. And no, averting the attention won’t change a thing about your appearance, but it may not be as bad when no one seems to care about them anymore.” He closed his eye again, continuing to listen to her. ”Oh, so you think you’ll go to heaven then?” He commented, his tone being clearly sarcastic. The pain went on and on inside his head, still showing no sign of stopping. He tried to think of ways he’d manage to make the raven stop his antics, and unfortunately, none came to mind. Of course, leaving would be the easiest way, but of course, Vereine was extremely stubborn and wouldn’t even think about giving Dupre the satisfaction. The pain got stronger, showing that his second could still hear and understand his thoughts. A shallow hiss escaped the wolf’s maw, not even bothering to cover it up anymore. He was tenser than ever, almost to a point where he was going to break and just give in. He could see splotches of white now, his lids feeling a small pain to them. Bad idea. Open eyes. Bad idea. He repeated it over and over again, snapping his eyes open. Every time he would start to see that strange patterned white, he knew Dupre was seriously pissed. He sat up quickly, not even bothering to stretch as he usually did. Resting on his haunches, Vereine stared intently on the female, hoping to avert his attention and ignore the chaos inside his brain. ”No, I don’t see anyone lining up for your presence, maybe it’s that foul attitude of yours? he said, quickly noticing how rude the last part may have come off as. At this point, he didn’t really have a chance to regret it because now the pain started to ease and showed how pleased Dupre was. ”So you’re some masochistic, then? You enjoy putting yourself down? I mean, have people ever insulted your looks before? Or is it all just things that you think?" He added, sounding a little rushed and on edge. He wanted to just scream now, he must have looked like a complete lunatic by now, with all his fidgeting and strange behavior and the sudden changes in his tone. ”Black as an attractive color? I’ve met many wolves, and I imagine have as well, and I assure you, they do not think of black as an attractive color. It’s extremely boring, drab, and dull." he muttered, slightly displeased. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly at her comment concerning his wings. He spread them out, stretching them and giving her a better look. ”Oh no, just for show." Of course he wouldn’t tell her that the actually did work, but were completely god awful and could barely carry him. That’d be bluntly pointing out how weak he was, and if she hadn’t already, she would have. ”No. I’m not color blind. But it’s not the most attractive thing you’ve ever seen, am I correct?” now he didn’t sound as negative, starting to cool off. Dupre’s nagging pain had slowly ebbed away, clearly pleased with Vereine’s actions, but the warnings and signs were clear he wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. Now he felt slightly offended. A crow and a raven were not the same thing. He wouldn’t care so much if one were to mistake him for a crow myou, at least they didn’t call him one of those clumsy keiyou, but when one would say that a raven and crow where the same, it just didn’t please him in the slightest. ”Well I am a raven myou after all.” he would have gone on and on about the differences between the two, but decided to keep his mouth shut for a while. Explaining it would be pointless and would probably heighten his chances at being pinned the weirdo. The outbust from the other caught him off guard right away, and his eyes widen as a look of shock registered on his face. ”Pardon?" he asked, sounding a mix between curious, startled, and concerned. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,392,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/6nVp.png][scrolly:h(249),w(392),sy]It was too hot for these types of conversations in truth. The air around them, especially since they were near water made the air heavy with moisture and so thick it was actually close to unbearable to take it in to your lungs. Oteka was hating every minute of it while Erena was practically trilling within her mind about how the canyon made an excellent sauna this time of day. For once however it was not Erena panicking, it was Oteka, she knew she needed to run from Vereine before she made herself out to be a complete and utter lunatic, but she was fighting with her own pride not to be a complete coward and run away from him screaming in to the sunset, to the thought Erena found very funny, ‘Gives new meaning to going off into the sunset romantically..’ The fact that the stupid little creature was hell bent on there being romance between them just worked to piss Oteka off. ‘You know it’s not like that and all you are doing is making yourself look like a fool..’ Erena seemed to make a snorting noise before replying, ‘I am at least be honest with what I see going on out there and in here..’
She watched the black winged wolf of night find the smallest corner of shade farthest away from her and lay down, closing his eyes. Apparently she was not only that repulsive but that boring. For once Erena did not pipe up with an insult or a scolding for putting herself down and Oteka found herself…disappointed and confused as to why she felt the need to have the other female within her own head speak for her to gain comfort by abusing her. It almost felt as if Oteka needed Erena is some sick co-dependent way, as if from her birth Erena was the only creature who was always with her, if they were bound forever that way it was true she didn’t have a choice but there were plenty of times as a pup she had received comfort from the platypus female. This of course was before her hatred grew as her appearance began to scare off and separate her from her family and even potential mates.
She watched him in silence for a long moment as he lay there, although even though his eyes were closed and his body was laying down, she could still see his muscles tighten under his dark pelt and she frowned inwardly. ‘He doesn’t even want to share a space of shade with me, I am that unbearable..’ Again Erena was silent, and Oteka found her eyes becoming slightly teary at being ignored by the other female. ‘What is the matter Erena, you get you beaver tail caught somewhere? Why don’t you speak, you always have something comforting to say…’ She almost sounded whiny within her own head and she was now going to blame all these feelings, positive and negative on the fact that she had been out in the sun half the day with this winged idiot. She finally spoke, “The intelligence of another being in this canyon completely wear you out? I suppose if I were you I would limit myself to night time interactions and public meetings. Otherwise you might just burn all those lovely feathers off..”
“It just might kill me, YOU would never know, although I am in no doubt that you would be content if it did kill me, and that is enough incentive for me to never try. After all, I have not given you any satisfaction so far why should we start now in this little ratta-tat-tat we have going on?” Act like a lady, ha. That is exactly what she would do, she would start prancing around on light feet, and speaking so nicely to others, complimenting them and nearly begging for the friendship. Nope, that just was not Oteka and it never would be, not if she could possibly help it in any faction. She stared at him and snorted, or made some other noise low in her throat, “Well you will be sure to let me know when the world ends and people stop caring about the way they look. Only the ugly miscount looks in hopes that everyone else will too.” If she would have had a snout, or maw, or other wolf part to her face she would have scrunched it up at his assumption she herself assumed she was going to Heaven.
“None of those places exist, you do what you do in this life, you die, and you move on. There is no such place as heaven where everyone is beautiful, and at peace and just lives an eternity in perfection, and nor is there hell…unless you count where we are right now, which is close in my humble opinion.” Hey, truth was truth no matter which way you spun it. She heard his hiss of discomfort and knew in that moment it would be best for both of them if she left. He was obviously in some kind of pain due to the sun, or the heat, for she did not necessarily know he was a myou and suffering from the attack of a second soul, much like she suffered with Erena. She also knew, if she couldn’t keep herself calm and collected it was best they part before they both ended up with reputations for not only being an asshole and bitch, but crazy to boot. “I doubt it’s my attitude that seriously affects my fan base, but it might yours considering when your calm, cool, polite demeanor fades away you are an incredible ass..”
Erena chose this moment to come back with a vengeance, ‘You mean incredible piece OF ass…’ her eyes immediately closed and if she could have rolled them back in her head she would have if only to glare at the female within her mind. Because glare was all she could do, she was so flabbergasted by the female’s sudden appearance as well as her comment that for once she did not have anything to say..but the urge to leave was overwhelming..she needed to get to a cliff somewhere where she could throw herself off of it…She instead slowly opened her eyes to glare at Vereine, “Oh yes, that’s it, you nailed me, I am a complete, paranoid, delusional, masochistic female with an appearance complex.” She sighed and looked out from the shade in to the fading sunlight. “Did it ever occur to you that maybe I am like that because all my life people have done nothing but comment and run from my appearance?…I wasn’t always this mean..” She immediately regretted the last part of this statement and Erena gleefully bounced in her head, delighted with the little bit of personal information.
“There you go again putting yourself and your color down.” She spoke, mimicking him almost to a tee even his tone, slightly skewed by her bill..”You are worse than any female I have met, you just can’t take a compliment no matter which way it is delivered, you must be narcissistic always living off the praise and compliments of others, always denying it to get more….sounds like an addiction…” ‘Much like the one you seem to be developing…’ “I refuse to be baited in to complimenting you on how nice a pelt color black is, if you can’t accept it then fine. But I am sure more than one female has told you how nice it is….” ‘DAMN HIM! He can just go rot in hell..’ What did it matter how many females had told him anything? This was it, Erena had finally driven her insane. When he stated he was a myou, much like herself she just couldn’t take it…it broke whatever she had left. “I…I have to go..” She turned and sprung out from the shade, not knowing which direction to scramble too..and scramble she did, the hardened rocks made scratching noises as her claws and webbed fit tried to dig in for purchase as she ran away.
‘Myou…how is it fair that he can share his soul with another, and still pass for a wolf..and I..I share my soul and I look like this!’ She could feel tears underneath her eyes, and even felt them shatter and fall down her bill as she moved, eventually realizing she was going to her den in which she could drown her solace in soft grass and the glittering lights of the gems around herself. ‘I am a fucking lunatic, I am crazy and now he knows it…!’ It didn’t entirely matter to her if he thought she was crazy, at this point it was over dramatics in general brought on by his statement and her own insanely deep insecurities. If he thought she was crazy then he could just add it to the list of other flaws she seemed to have. Slipping her way up the stairs to the den area, she almost fell not once but many times, and by the time she reached the top her poor webbed paws were bruised and bleeding. Crawling in to her den she lay there, tears falling from her eyes as she began to loathe herself all over again….and Erena finally spoke, the first nice thing she had said in minutes…’I’m sorry Oteka..’ and with those words, her tears flowed even more freely, as did the blood from her paws…
