General
OOC Name: soar
Name: Ajax
Alias: Ajax, Jax
Species: Mortui
Gender: Male
Age: Undead – a few decades, give or take.
Pack: Loner
Rank: n/a
Physical
Height: 40 inches tall
Weight: 85 lbs
Appearance:BUILD. Ajax was widely respected and admired for both his wits and appearance. This mortui was originally a handsome wolf with his body rippling with strong, healthy muscles and refined looks. He was a power on paws and therefore he was feared. He moved like a warrior; strength and purpose were clear in his proud gait.
But now Ajax has been reduced from a worthy warrior to an undead wolf. He is decently sized but noticeably lighter for his height. This is due to the loss of his flesh and muscles and the decomposing organs inside his corpse. The fact that he hasn’t eaten or drank since the day he started to rot also contributes to his body weight. The lack of nutrients and water being consumed are painfully clear as his fur appears dull and lifeless (probably also because he’s biologically dead) and the skin appears to have lost its elasticity. The other symptom of his ill health is how starved he looks; the bones, especially the rib cage, are jutting out against his thin skin and, in some areas, penetrating through the weak flesh. Nothing about his body is strong or healthy enough to stay together. Even the fine layer of skin and fur is peeling away, revealing the horrendous red muscles wasting away underneath. This is evident throughout his corpse, especially on the areas around his paws, along his muzzle and spine and around his multiple scars.
There are some areas where the hidden skeleton of his that are being exposed. Like his brother, Thanatos, Ajax’s spine has revealed itself, ripping through the flesh of the spinal area. The skin is ripped open, showing the wide bloody and blackening gap where, in the middle, the spine is being revealed. Along the chest part of his underside, flesh has rotted away and has ribs protruding out, exposed to the world. One of his toes on his hind right paw has decided to rot as well, showing the sickly yellow bones and the left hind ankle has also decomposed to disclose another bone. The most horrifying of all was his left cheek; the flesh has decayed away leaving the gaping hole in his face and revealing his yellowing teeth. This gives his face an appearance of a permanent lopsided smirk.
Surrounding these exposed skeleton are layers of blackening flesh constantly dropping off his body. Some areas the soft tissue exposure is small but in some it is in a quite large amount. An example of this is the spine; the decaying flesh spread just until below his shoulders instead of just decomposing around the bones.
His face was broad and proud, but now it is thin and sunken. The two eyes seem too big for his face but they also are gaunt. The irises are deep vibrant red, the only thing that does look alive out of Ajax’s whole appearance. The pupils are often tiny, giving him a deranged look and very black in colour. His nose is grey and leathery to touch but it is far too cold to be considered alive.
COAT. Ajax’s coat is falling apart, revealing body parts that are supposed to be kept hidden inside but that has been described above. But all of the remaining hairs, they are short but were rough to touch but now they are mostly made up with matted hairs. They are found knotted into clumps here and there on his body giving him a scruffy look. This is because this wolf can’t be bothered to keep himself clean and tidy as every time he sweeps his tongue against his coat it would fall off on his tongue. That and the fact he finds it pointless to groom himself if he’s already biologically dead.
His original silver coat has darkened into the mixture of stale light grey and yellow and it reeks of corpse and filth. His markings originally were rich purple but now they have dulled in colour and sheen. A solid purple line streaks over his back, following the spine to the tip of his full tail. There the line spread upwards the tail giving it a look as if it has been dipped in a purple ink. Then the streak goes under the tail before it runs along the belly to the start of the chest. On both of his flanks there are smaller strips that creep upwards away from the main line, each one lying exactly above his rib bones. On his face there are purple marking rimming his gaunt eyes before spreading away from the two ends similar to a mime clown’s but vertically instead of horizontally. Finally there are purple socks around his paws which extend as far as his elbow. But on both sides of his legs the socks appear to be ‘V’ shaped; on the front and back the sock streaks are taller than on the sides.
OTHER. The mortui now moves with a limp due to his bony toe and weakened muscles. There is no enthusiasm or pride in his step anymore; he figured that he is cursed and sees no reason to have a positive outlook in life. His voice is harsh and scratchy as if it hurts by just speaking. It came from not using his voice for a such long time and it is distorted by the internal decomposition and the lack of use.
Other: Ajax in his decaying form
Mental
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Personality:SADISTIC. Ajax finds pleasure in inflicting others pain and suffering, especially terror. Some would say it is because he could not feel any pain himself and seeing it in others helps him remember how and what the pain was for him. But sadly that assumption is untrue, or at least that’s what Ajax would say, and he would be more than happy to admit that he’s just plainly cruel. But there is always something lingering behind his eyes whenever he says this.
EFFICIENT MANIPULATOR. He knows how to twist others’ minds to his liking, after all he had decades practicing this skill. He does this through lying, faking, seducing (this may not work now due to his terrifying appearance) and various other ways.
OBSESSIVE. This undead wolf usually is found worrying about his horrifying attributes and his lost past. He kept wondering if he hadn’t attacked his undead brother and didn’t have Thanatos infecting him would he still be like this? That was one of many questions that are usually buzzing around his fragile mind. He is also obsessed with death and dying. He is also obsessed with pain, sensations and nervous system; so often he is seen gnawing on his body parts (the skeletal toe occurred because of him gnawing and peeling off the living flesh) and playing with his nerves. None of this affected him much because of the fact he is immune to pain.
SUICIDAL. With his unhealthy obsession with dying, he feels compelled that he is a freak of nature, a harbinger of ill-luck and death. This forces guilt into him and the only way to escape this, to him, is to die. To get rid of the mortui pests from the healthy world is his second (killing Thanatos and avenge his family’s death is his first) goal. So many he had tried to destroy himself but only resulted in another patch of his skin being peeled off.
MENTALLY UNSTABLE. Having his own brain rotting away little by little surely would have some consequences. Memories have decayed away and this causes him to have some momentarily memory lapses when he forgets who he is and where he is. This drives him insane and immensely frightens him. He feels so constricted by this and sometimes the stresses of this burst out of him and cause him to have some disturbing episodes.
UNSATISFIED. After missing out enjoying life he had before decaying (due to his intense hatred of Thanatos and a strong desire for revenge) Ajax feels unsatisfied and is seeking anything that may fill the gaping hole inside him. So far he hasn’t found anything so precious, so... filling. He fears that he would die unsatisfied, but at the same time he yearns to die to escape this discomfort.
EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE. Due to his poor mental health he is constantly frightened and get overly defensive (in an attempt to disguise his terror) sometimes which leads him being violent. Whenever he gets violent it is never a small matter; he would keep attacking a wolf, not stopping until his mind becomes clear again. He would tear and break whatever he happens to get hold on every time. Also it is hard to deflect this mortui’s attacks unless you’re really quick as attacking him in a defensive manner wouldn’t work since he is immune to pain. This means he is capable of being very deadly and is not a wolf to play around with.
SUPERSTITIOUS. His parents’ fear of curses began to influence him ever since Thanatos became a mortui. At the beginning Ajax wondered if it was just a bad luck that his brother became a monster until all of his family died. After that tragedy he was starting to adopt his parents’ attitudes but when he started to rot after attacking his brother his belief finally caught hold of him and became unshakeable. Ajax worries that something he had done in either this or past life had damned him to this living hell. And he also worries that whatever path he is going to take will lead him to something much worse.
INDEPENDENT. Now that his parents and sister are dead and his brother a traitor he has no one to trust or rely on. He has decided being independent would be a great idea as he wouldn’t have to expect something from someone, or having someone surprising him in an unpleasant way like his brother did. He is weak, physically and mentally and he does need to have some help but he refuses everything out of fear of being let down again.
OTHER. Overall Ajax is a mortui that is frightened of destiny and fate but he puts on a brave façade. But at the same on the inside he struggles with his current life, and so often attempts to sway others to lead a hellish life so that he doesn’t feel as alone and he enjoys luring others into trusting him so it is kinda for both security and amusement.
History:CHILDHOOD. Ajax’s parents were very nurturing to him and his sister but they were nervous of their other son, Thanatos. They were uncertain what they should think of Thanatos because of his lack of power; Ajax and his sister developed their powers when they were around one year old. Ajax had an earth element and with it he could summon small plants and vines to do his bidding; even at the young age he had most control over his element. But his brother was powerless and was weak to Ajax’s eyes and, so often he had ridiculed him and taunted him with his nature power. Their sister, a little sweet Aina was uncertain how she should behave toward his weak brother because she was terrified of him at first due him being unnatural. But she, with her water element, soon copied Ajax and how he bullied him. Her way was splashing him in the face, especially in the eyes and laugh with her brother at Thanatos’ discomfort. She had admired Ajax and for many times she had looked up at him with her doe eyes and ears perked up, eager for his next speech.Other: Ajax is Thanatos's brother.
The siblings’ parents did notice this but decided to do nothing about it. As far as they knew this taunting might encourage Thanatos’ power to emerge through constricted fury or something. But with every month the parent lupuses’ hope waned. One day their futile hope disappeared completely when their two children, Ajax and Aina found their brother lying half drowned in a pond somewhere near a rushing river. Ajax can remember the day he ran home screaming that he and his sister found their lost brother lying for the dead, half submerged under the water. It had felt like a split second until when the siblings and their parents were at the tragic scene with everyone shaking. Ajax was the worst out of them all; he remembered how he had bullied his brother and began to thought there was no chance for him to make up to him. There they found their white brother waterlogged and choking for air. The powerful scent of a corpse rolled off him but they ignored it at the time; assuming that he must had rolled on something dead before plunging in the river.
Hurriedly they brought him back to their home and their mother rushed to clear the airway and when Thanatos woke up the small family drew back so suddenly. His eyes were angry red and upon seeing the eyes his mother fled the den. Ajax remembered his mother telling him that his granduncle was just like Thanatos; damned to a cursed life. She was terrified for his son as she had absolutely no idea what this disease was even though her uncle had it. She knew it was incurable so she decided not to take a risk of him infecting her other pups so she along with her mate thought it would be best to keep them apart. The parents’ fear had infected their remaining children, especially Ajax. He soon thought how he should leave his brother to drown so that this family wouldn’t have to end up separated just like this.
His father disappeared constantly to teach Thanatos the life necessities and this frightened his other son. What if Thanatos infects his daddy? What if daddy never comes back? What if...? What if...? He remembered one day he saw his father came home bloodied and ruffled. He remembered asking him what was wrong and how he didn’t respond. All he knew then was how scared his parents were of their odd son. His worries were only relieved when his father came back to tell his children that Thanatos had disappeared.
ADULTHOOD. After Thanatos’ disappearance, the family was clearly much more relaxed with the horrifying wolf gone. His mother was much more at peace and his father was happy again. Aina was able to go out more and talk to strangers more casually. Ajax noted this change within the family and grew to hate his brother for the unnecessary suffering he had caused for his family for months. But his intense hatred was soon forgotten as he sank into the lovely life with his family. This was the best period of his long life. Until Aina suddenly died. She was the favourite of the family due to her coy nature. Her sudden loss was like a stab to the heart for Ajax. Their mother was quick to fault Thanatos for this unfortunate luck and was furious with herself for giving birth to a demon. Ajax and his father were helpless as they watched the mother spiralled to insanity. Soon she started to claim that she can see her trotting around with her short muzzle up in the air. Shortly after the claim the mother lupus vanished only to have her body found some time later by her mate at the foot of a cliff. He assumed that she must’ve seen her lost daughter wandering somewhere in front of her and she was at the cliff edge at the time.
Ajax’s father was old at the time and his organs weren’t strong enough to support him for a long time so he died less than a year after the death of his mate. This mortui, then lupus, was extremely devastated as he was very close to his family and to lose them all within a year was a huge blow. Soon he found his power dwindling away slowly and he thought it was because of grief so he didn’t take much notice to it. When his grief cleared the gaping home was filled with white hot anger he started to place the blame on his vanished brother for the deaths. It was then when he made a vow to track his cursed brother down and make him suffer equal to how he had suffered.
It had taken him ages to find the right direction, literally years, but when he began he did not stop. Soon he did not feel thirsty or hungry anymore and his body became less dependent on food and water but Ajax did not notice this change. He didn’t notice that his power hadn’t come back either. He didn’t even notice that his response to pain had lessened. All he was interested and focused on was to find Thanatos and to torture him. Without his knowledge Ajax was becoming into just like his brother. If he knew he would kill himself there and then when dying was easier.
One day some time later the white lupus found his brother’s fresh tracks and soon caught up to him. He remembered seeing his surprised face when he spotted him. Ajax could see that there were many questions upon his brother’s face; he would want to know what happened to his family, how they were and what had provoked Ajax into this crazed rage. Ajax had spat at him: “Your family all died! Died! All because of your... your... goddamned curse! I am here to avenge their deaths!” before lunging for his neck. Unfortunately for him his footing had been lost thanks to a random puddle of mud. After regaining his lost footing he leapt at him once again but missed his neck. The two brothers fought there and then. Thinking he had lost the element of surprise and vowed to return to end it all Ajax decided to leave the fight abruptly.
After some time of limping away he saw a piece of Thanatos’ decaying flesh embedded around his claws and with a shriek of terror he flung it away. His brother was certainly looking worse with his skin falling off. He remembered thinking that it must have hurt when he realised that he did not feel any pain of the new wounds. Nervous because of this he had checked all over his body when he found some darkening red patches all over his body and they had no fur or skin. Ajax, terrified, began to realise that Thanatos must have infected him either in the fight or sometime in their childhood. With this the new mortui flung his head back and wailed his lungs out up to the heavens. Ajax is cursed, just like Thanatos and this is his living nightmare
