She dipped under and above the surface, taking small, short breaths before corkscrewing underwater. At last the Cael surfaced, took in a deep breath, and hauled herself onto land. She lay on her side, chest heaving, heart beating fast against her ribcage. The chilling water brought her so much joy. Morgance began to gnaw on a jackalope she had killed earlier, tearing at the tender meat. She wondered what it was like to hunt in a pack. She'd never done it before, not successfully. In retrospect, the Cael never really had friends. She gulped down what was in her mouth and huffed. She never thought about it, but it was true. That was one huge blow to her ego. A song began to float from her lips, filling the lonely void in her heart. Morgance sang a song, one she was notorious for drawing in wolves with. But she didn't see any around here, and it was one of her favorites, so she sang a bit louder. Crescendos filled the air and her falsetto fluttered gracefully like tiny birds dancing in courtship. She smiled as the last notes of the song ended in piano dynamic. [/scrolly]

She stopped prancing through the grasses like a little puppy, and halted her chase after the butterfly. Snarling, she opened her eyes to the icy tundra. Ultraviolet eyes rolled in her skull. Not again… The lupus stood up and trotted over as a light harmony tickled her ear fur. She smirked; something to distract herself. She stood up grunting, and lifted her muzzle to the air. It was a few moments before she opened her maw, making sure she caught the notes and rhythm. Out of her mouth came a harmony so sweet and flowing, that it was something matching a skilled Cael’s voice. It matched the melody well, and decided to follow its origins. Her voice rose and fell with each crescendo, equaling the tones. She padded slowly in the music’s direction, and only when she walked up a hill and the melody ceased did she realize what it was. Tilting her head, her gaze softened pitifully. Aww… a lonely little Cael. What’s she doing where the water is frozen? Her paws led her forward as she came upon the edge of the water, from around the rear of the fish-wolf. Sitting silently, she barked a loud warning. What are you doing so far out here, alone, fish-mutt? Her voice was deep and demanding, and a smirk played on her lips if she happened to startle her.

"I've never heard that one before, you're a very clever girl." She smirked, tempted to break the top of the water and swim away before things got any worse. "If you must know, I have no pack to reside with." Her eyes were glazed over, but she had her gaze locked on the unfamiliar wolf. It wasn't as if she hadn't encountered insults before. She shoved the jackalope skeleton away from her and got to her feet, turning around. "So, darling," the Cael smiled faintly. "It is an absolute pleasure to meet you." Her eyes still hid the tiny slice of fear she always had when meeting new wolves, but she could swim in the ice cold water and this new wolf could not. This Lupus did have a lovely voice, Morgance would never deny beautiful music, but she was rude. And that made her like all of the others. Morgance didn't get her hopes up for making a new friend. He fur bristled slightly along her spine; this wolf’s friendliness started to scare her. Narrowing her gaze a silence hung between them. She watched the fish-wolf hide the skeleton, she glared suspiciously. Maybe this would be some wolf she could make an ally, so she would try to be kind to the mutt. It’s a pleasure to meet you too, miss Sardine. If you don’t mind, can I call you that? I have yet to smell a wolf so… fishy. May I ask what you are doing so far out here? She softened her gaze consciously and lay down in front of her, trying not to seem threatening.

"I'm also known as Fishface, Wingless Winged Fish, and, perhaps Morgance, but the latter is so rarely used, I suppose I'll respond to anything." She shuffled back a bit, trying to keep a polite distance. This rude thing couldn't possibly trust her, could she? She chuckled softly at the thought, and glanced up at the wolf with a smile. "I am here on account of my never-ending search for a pack, but I may reconsider this location due to it's evidential lack of respect." She winced, hoping the wolf wouldn't think she was referring to her. Though of course she was. Morgance shifted her weight once more before settling again, waiting for a defensive or witty response. Her fur bristled at the snotty comment of respect. Oh Nova respected wolves; she didn’t trust them. Her violet gazed burned into the fish’s copper ones. I forgot to mention; I am not from here. I’m merely looking for a pack as well. Call me UV; those are the only two letter you can call me by. Seeing as you’re to tense to speak I shall go. Nova stood sharply; her gaze piercing the cael’s own. She nodded respectfully before turning and starting off. If this wolf needed a friend she would stay and try to find common ground. If not, good riddance.

Nov turned around smirking, and headed back towards the lupine. She sat in front of Morgance, head held high, before speaking again; her voice rumbled from her open maw. You never did but your tenseness and uncomfortableness say otherwise. And you need not to know my full name, because I believe we won’t cross paths again. Call me UV, for that is the jist of it. Now that we are acquainted, how about we go for a swim? Smiling coldly the lupus leapt into the freezing water, cracking the ice, and the coldness seeped through her fur, stiffening her muscles. Diving under, she refreshed her head and paddled back to shore, laying on the icy stones.

She felt any chance of making an ally grow slimmer by the word she spoke. The Cael slid into the water after her, relishing the chance to regain her tail and feel the cold tighten her skin. Her muscles were still warm from swimming earlier and the meat she had just eaten, but she felt them slowly tense. At last she glided back onto the rocks, a fair distance away from Nova. "So, er, UV," she said softly, not looking her in the eye now. "Tell me about yourself." After that sentence, she glanced up, a noble grin playing at the corners of her lips.[/scrolly]

Where I came from doesn’t exist, where I battled was lost, whom I have crossed paths wit has disappeared. That’s all there is to tell. Nova truly had no story. Living alone she learned to use her words carefully, and to get what she wanted. She was finding this wolf a drab boring, speaking so many useless words. The lupus huffed; such a waste. She continued to lock her gaze on the cael, watching every slow-stroked movement. Finding weaknesses was one of her best traits. She also hoped that her lack of words didn’t bother Sardine; actually, she didn’t care. There was no hope of crossing paths if Morgance was going to stay here. So what was the point?

"All whom I have crossed paths with chased me off," she muttered under her breath. The Cael glanced back up at the other female, intrigued by her bluntness. At least she wasn't vicious. Out of politeness, she told her, "You may leave, if that is what you wish. I am in no place to keep you where you do not wish to be." Morgance turned herself and slid into the cold water, letting it numb her toes and her nose. She swam away, not wanting to be a nuisance to the wolf that had stumbled upon her. It seemed that this wolf did not favor Cael, like most others. She stopped at one point and rested on the bed of the water, a bit tired from swimming earlier, but quickly returned to swimming. Another failed attempt at making an ally. [/scrolly]
