[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy]Nocht was surprised he had come this far already. What had initially begun as a small journey had turned into a bigger adventure than he had realised. He had been gone almost a week now, just wandering through the land. The salty scent of the sea had drawn him to the shore, the sea lapping up onto the sandy beaches. The fall weather meant it was still warmish during the day, but chilly at night. This didn't bother Nocht too much; he was used to the winter, and he was more than capable of finding himself somewhere to spend the night.
He had reached his destination now though, and the small lyxxus sat on the sandy beach, staring out as the water swirled and foamed around him. The fresh air left his head feeling cleared, and his eyes were soon closed, as he inhaled deeply. The sand was warm beneath his paw pads, but he didn't mind it too much. It was a nice change from the chaos going on in the valley. Aurora and Satinka had both had their pups now, and Reynard was... well, he was dealing with the fact that he had two litters. Nocht adored both sets of siblings, despite Satinka not letting him near, but he needed some time away, just to think.
He had told no one that he left. They didn't really need to know anyways, and they'd figure it out themselves. He was finally alright being able to leave, and didn't feel like he was tied down and obligated to stay. Nocht was sure Aurora would be okay... and if any harm came to her, he'd have some bones to pick with the person who did her harm. This also gave him plenty of time to analyze his own thoughts and his own situations. Nocht liked his life to be relatively drama free, but somehow reality hadn't gotten the memo. Putting aside the paternity challenge, Nocht had to grapple with his feelings for Moonrose. It wasn't until Kalylia had brought it up did he realise something there was... different. Maybe it was the way Moonrose looked at him, or the way his chest hurt when he thought about her being in harm's way... but something was definitely up there. He had no wish for romantic involvement, and the lyxxus was over four, quite a bit older than Nocht. But he still couldn't reconcile the ideas that now free floated around his brain about her.
But now, by the edge of the ocean, he was able to breathe deeply. For the first time in so long he felt free from responsibility. He sat there for a few hours, his thoughts vague, eyes closed, fur rustling in the breeze. He had no concept of time when he finally came too, completely calm now. He rose fluidly, his paws coming together neatly beneat his crimson frame. He followed along the beach, the tide rising a bit as he went. Soon the sandy shore was broken up by a rocky ediface and Nocht found himself climbing inside, into a series of caves. They would have been small for any other wolf, but Nocht, being a lyxxus found them quite roomy. The stale scent of pack hung vapid in the air, telling of happier times in the packlands. He couldn't recall which pack had lived here before.
He could see the old dens of wolves, a few bones here and there, but there was little in the way of anything else in the den. Until the smell hit him, of course. The floral smell was almost overpowering, and Nocht couldn't help following the sweet smell. It seemed to take over his brain, luring him in closer and closer. It was a scent he had never smelled before, even though the valley was littered with wild flowers every spring. Soon he was in a dead end though, but upon a closer inspection, he realised it was not dead at all. The rock walls were covered in a small plant, floor, sides, ceiling. Every inch of the section was covered. The plant was small and appeared to be fuzzy. Nocht lowered his nose to the ground, sniffing one of them. The sweet scent had come from this little plants. It was rich and sweet and reminded him of home.
He couldn't help but slowly remove one of the leaves from the plant before him. It smelled so wonderful, he was sure the taste would be just as pleasant. Nocht was not particularly well versed with herbs, but he was getting better. This was one plant he was completely unsure of though. He stepped backwards, avoiding the plant as he retreated with his single leaf. Once he was on the edge of where the plants met the cave floor, he sat down, setting down the leaf to examine it. He nosed it over, trying to see if it would do anything. A quick lick made his tongue begin to tingle, and he blinked a bit. With the hope that this might be some new plant he could use to heal, he picked it up gingerly once more and swallowed.
After that, Nocht could not remember the rest of what had happened that day. His body was numb, curled up in the little cave. He felt like he was floating, his mind devoid of worry or concern. At first, the feeling felt empty and frightening, but soon Nocht found himself enjoying the tingling pleasure of an empty mind. So he lay there, mouth half open, eyes closed, letting himself float through the rest of the day.

One week. Seven days. Who the hell leaves their pack for an entire week to travel this far? Only to come to a beach and sit there for several hours before actually doing anything. Sure, it was rather beautiful and the female had been there once before, but she just did not understand. She had followed the male out of pack territory, just to see where he was going, and so far she was rather positive that he had not caught on to her following him. After all, seven days had passed and she had not been confronted nor had he shown any signs of himself feeling watched. She had watched his every move, followed him step by step, but remained far enough away to make sure she wasn't discovered. Yes, the female was a warrior, but she certainly specialized in stealth. So...
Moonrose had successfully managed to stalk Nocht.
The crimson furred lyxxus was hidden within a small crevice in the shadows, blending in rather well with the darkness despite her vibrant coloring. She kept her eyes half lidded, knowing that they glowed whenever darkness surrounded her, and that kind of thing would give her away. Her sapphire orbs watched and began to close further and further as the hours passed by. He just sat there in the sand, eyes shut, wind ruffling his fur. The crevice she sat in blocked the breeze from her, preventing any chance of him catching her scent. This was good for her, as she would rather figure out what the hell he was doing before he turned to her and asked why she was following him. Considering recent events between them, and Kalylia especially, she was sure the situation would become awkward very quickly.
Moonrose sighed, having rested her head on his paws as another hour passed and there was still no movement from the male. Sure, there was the chance that he knew she was there and he was waiting for her to reveal herself, but she remained where she was, knowing that he would probably confront her if he actually knew she was there. As the hours flew by, however, the female ended up falling asleep. It was not easy to remain awake and watch someone when nothing was happening, when they weren't moving at all. Sleep came to her easily, especially since she had spent most of the nights remaining awake just to make sure he didn't get too far ahead of her or didn't discover her when she least expected it. For once, sleep came to the female, and it felt nice.
When she woke up, however, she saw that he was no longer there. Panicking for a moment, she scrambled to her feet and lost her balance, tumbling down into the sand. "Oof!" She landed in the sand with a dull thud, feeling almost no pain. However, panic took over her again and she attempted to stand normally, whirling around in circles to see if there was anyone else on the beach, Nocht especially. She did not want him to know she was there. Although, she came to a standstill when she realized that she was alone and she calmed down, turning to face the water. The sun had just dipped below the horizon and horror struck her chest. Had she really been out for that long? Though, she couldn't really remember when she had fallen asleep, and she did not see Nocht anywhere. She hoped he hadn't gotten himself hurt.
Sighing, the Guardian padded around along the beach until she caught a whiff of the male. Thankfully, the scent was still rather fresh, but at least an hour or two old, meaning he was possibly still somewhere close by. She hesitantly moved onward, following his smell intently. She was rather sure she had it memorized within her head right now, just as she had just about everyone else's scents memorized in the same way. Satinka's was stuck within her olfactories, as well as Aurora's, Reynard's, Yueh's. More than that as well, like her enemies. Ebony and Draugur mostly, but there was the pack that had attacked and killed her own. She was wary of them, knowing there was a great chance they were still out there and that they could encounter her at any time. Parcifal too, the little pup she befriended and practically raised when she was with her old pack, but she remembered that he was dead just like the others.
The smell led into a series of caves, which, if one was not following some type of trail through them, they would easily get lost within the caverns. This was good, though. Most caverns and caves were dead ends, meaning that Nocht was most likely still within them. The deeper she went into the cave, the more she seemed to lose his scent as a flowery one overpowered it. Soon, his scent was completely gone and the smell of the flowers were much too strong. Her heart sped up slightly, knowing that she could no longer smell her friend. However, she kept her mind calm and allowed herself to think for a moment. The scent of the flowers and the scent of her friend were heading in the same direction, so following the flowery smell would most likely be the best decision.
Moonrose's body was set back into motion and she attempted to just follow the flowers, but she did not need to step too far when her sapphire eyes caught sight of her friends bloody red pelt within one of the smaller caves. He was lying on the ground, motionless, and the first thing that came to her mind was that he had been injured. She bounded over, colliding with one of the walls as she entered the area he was in, then stood over him. There were little flowers everywhere, and they reeked of a powerful, floral scent that she knew she would not be able to get out of her nose for awhile. She lowered her muzzle and gently nudged the underside of his head, releasing a low whine. "Nocht! Nocht, are you all right?" Hesitantly, she swiped her tongue on his cheek a few times. "Nocht, c'mon. Get up."

[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy]Perhaps if Nocht had not been so caught up in his own thoughts he would have realised he was being followed. It was not like him to not notice things; being silent meant he had a lot of time to look around and observe his surroundings. But he was so occupied in his life, so busy sorting things out, reconciling his feelings, he hardly realised what was around him. Perhaps it was a good thing though, for he wouldn't have been able to deal with Moonrose being there. At least not before those hours on the beach. Those silent hours had defogged his mind and allowed him to think clearly.
Which was why it was so ironic that now, as he lay there, his mind was blank and cloudy. How could it be both? He felt like a cloud of fog hang over him, his thoughts swirled around... and yet there was no substance to them. They were snippets of his own thoughts, his own feelings. It was a strange but wonderful feeling. Even with his eyes closed he could see shapes swirling around in his vision. It was like a kaleidoscope and he couldn't help but make little happy noises as it happened.
But soon this floating, blissful feeling was interrupted. Words were forming around him, and Nocht wasn't sure if they were real or not. Moon was with him? He could recognise that voice anywhere. Maybe he was just imagining her. He didn't open his eyes though, rolling a bit onto his side as he felt the dampness of her tongue on his cheek. The feeling tickled, and he couldn't help but giggle.
"Ohh that tickles," he murmured, the floating feeling back as he wriggled about a little bit. He wasn't sure if Moonrose was actually there, or if he was just imaging her there. How could she be here anyways? The valley was far away, and as such, she wouldn't have just come to check up on him. She must be dream Moon, he decided, his eyes opening up slightly. She stood there before him, she felt real, but Nocht knew better. He was imagining it; the same thing that made him float made Moonrose come.
"Dream Moon," he said, his words drawn out and spoken with a happy tone. He lifted a paw to touch her muzzle, his eyes finding it hard to focus on her face. "Why are you in my dreams Moonie?" Apparently terms of affection were being thrown around. He moved his head only slightly, grasping another leaf from the plants on the ground in his mouth and quickly swallowing it. Whatever dreams these plants gave him, he enjoyed them. He would be content to just lie here for a few days and eat the plants.
"Mmm, are you floating too, Moonie?"

Moonrose's ears attentively pricked when he moved slightly onto his side, not to mention the strange little noises he had made moments before. Her ears went back slightly to rest upon her head, worry filling her stomach. Something was definitely off about him and she knew immediately that it was more than likely something to do with these small flowers surrounding them. The scent was strong enough, too floral for her taste. She preferred more open smells, like fields and being high up upon mountains and the sky when she could get close enough to it. Flowers just told her she was on the ground, something she did not like too often. She loved to run, loved to feel free and, from what she had heard of those who could fly, there was nothing more free than being able to fly. Besides, she liked the sky.
She perked an eyebrow. Dream Moon? What the hell was that? Her mind drifted from them when his paw touched her muzzle, as though he were using his paws to see, as if something had blurred his vision just enough that he needed the guidance of touch. She felt her skin heat up at the contact, remembering everything Satinka had said to her, making her realize that she was truly feeling something stronger than just friendship for Nocht. As of right now, all he was was her friend. She blinked a few times, listening to him talk. Dreams? Did he think he was dreaming? She did a take for a moment, wondering if she was dreaming too. She wondered if she was really still in her hiding crevice, tucked away and asleep. Was she dreaming right now? She shook her head slightly, no, it wasn't possible.
"Nocht... This isn't a dream. I'm real. I'm right here!" She said lightly to him, raising her voice in the slightest. She felt as though she was being ignored when he reached over and ate another one of the small flowers with a small movement. She stared, helplessly at that, and wondered what it was that he was doing. Obviously, she was now convinced of this, that the flowers were causing this whole thing. His actions and his words. She wasn't surprised, the same thing had happened that night with the berries. Even just a little bit of the fermented fruit had caused them all to lose their senses and go into a state where they did things they would not normally do. She wondered what had caused them to eat the berries in the first place. That was a mystery to her.
Floating? Moonrose looked at the ground. Nope, her feet were still planted firmly upon it. She then looked at him, raising a brow. "Nocht, are you all right? No, I'm not floating. I'm standing right here on the ground..." She suddenly remembered him eating the flower bud, then extended a paw and poked him in the belly a few times, watching the fur ripple as the loose fat jiggled. She lowered her maw once more and sniffed at his own, upon which she smelled traces of the flowers. She sighed, allowing her ears to droop. "Nocht, you...dork. Why did you eat those flowers? Now, you're acting all weird!" She jumped to his other side and nudged his neck, trying to push him up. "Get up, you lump! Let's go already! I need to get you away from these things!"

NOCHT |
[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy]Normally observant Nocht was not so observant right now. Moonrose was clearly displeased and uneasy about what was going on, and yet Nocht had no idea. Even if he had been fully there, her emotions would have confused him. Nocht had never been good at interpreting or reacting appropriately to emotions; it was not his forte. He worked hard to try and understand them, but even still the effort was hardly worth nothing. When he lifted his paw to feel her though, she felt real, corporal... she was in front of him, yet some part of Nocht's brain refused to recognise it. For him, Moon was far away, perhaps lounging about in the valley. There was little that could convince him that she was, in fact with him in the cave.
Even her voice, reassuring him that she was in fact real, was not enough. Nocht's face wrinkled up into an awkward looking smile, and he began to giggle, a hiccup interupting every so often. It was as if her words had been the funniest things he'd ever heard, gauging by his reaction. "Silly Moonie, don't worry, you won't trick me. I know you're just allllll up here," he pointed to his head with a paw as he rolled onto his back. This way he could stare up at her, his paws flopping onto his chest and abdomen. "Moonie, I am soooo fine right now," he purred in response to her question, his eyes half closing. "Mmm, you should really try this sometime. I guess this is what it'd feel like to be a keiyou. Floating all the time... I wonder if Satinka floats... or Reynard... don't you ever wish sometimes you had wings? Flying must be so nice. I wonder if they ever run into birds though... you know, like we run into other animals on the ground? I mean, you're up there, flying around, and going pretty fast. Then all of a sudden there's this gull, and it's going all 'Hey I'm a gull' and you're just like 'Dude, no way' and then it flies into you and... there would just be feathers everywhere. That would be messy..." He barely paused to breathe as he spoke, his eyes open, staring up at Moon's. Only after his mouth closed did his eyes close too.
Even her pokes to his belly caused little stirring from the lyxxus, and her next words made a small smile slip onto his lips. "Mmm, they're wonderful," he said, one of his paws flopping sideways. "You should really try one, Moonie. Oh wait. You can't. 'Cause you're not real! If you were real, you wouldn't be here. You'd be in the valley, taking care of Aurora and Satinka's babies. Auntie Moonie, best pupsitter ever. Y'know, you would be a good mother. Then we'd have lots of puppies. They're pretty cute," he yawned, feeling a nudge and frowned. "No Moonie, I'm so comfy right now. You come here, we can snuggle. I like snuggling and you look so waaarm," his body moved, trying to grab onto any piece of skin to pull her down with him.

Her ears drooped in disappointment, for she had a feeling in the pit of her stomach that she would not be able to convince him that she was real and that he was not dreaming. However, just as stubborn as he could be, she could be just as stubborn and even more so to a much higher degree. At this point, she was rather hellbent to get him to realize that she was actually there and that he was only sedated or something by these flowers, but that would not be easy. From the looks of her companion and the smell of these flower, they were probably like the berries had been. Addictive. She remembered how she could not stop herself from eating a berry when she saw it and, now that she really thought about her actions that night, the more she felt embarrassed about them.
Moonrose perked an eyebrow when he pointed to his head and said she was all up there. She was...in his head? Wow, he was really delusional. She sighed, listening to his calmed rant about flying and floating. She rolled her sapphire eyes as she sat down, knowing damn well that she would not be able to get him to move any time soon. For now, she would just have to wait until the effects of the flower wore off to get him out or try to coax him out and then wait for the effects of the flower to wear off. The part of the gull and the colliding made her snicker some, as she found it rather funny. She silence herself though, watching him fall silent, then closing his eyes. As she stared, a small smile etched onto her maw and she realized how...cute he was like that. She shook her head, pulling herself out of it.
She hung her muzzle this time, sighing at him and his ways. Not real her fuzzy butt. As far as she was concerned she was there and she was real, there was no changing that fact. Her attention was suddenly seized when he spoke of Satinka and Aurora, and about her babysitting their pups. Best pupsitter ever? She doubted that. As good as she was with pups, she could not shake the fact that she did not really want any of her own. Mostly because she was afraid to have them. "No, I don't think I'll ever have pups..." She stated, then muttered more to herself, "You're enough to have to look after..." The thought of that made her laugh some as she watched him carefully. Then, the next few moments seemed to move in slow motion for her.
Just kidding.
The next thing the poor female was aware of was herself laying one the ground beside Nocht, whom had said he liked snuggling and she looked so warm. She laid there for a moment, before rolling onto her stomach and pressing her side against him unintentionally, staring down at him sternly. 'What am I going to do with you...?' She thought. For a moment, an idea passed through her head, but she wanted to disregard it. However, it could have been something to at least snap him out of his reverie for just a few minutes, at least long enough for her to talk some sense into him...if that were possible. She bared her teeth and extended her neck, biting down hard on his ear and pulling at it repeatedly. "Quit fooling around, Nocht..." Her voice was muffled. "That's really enough of this nonsense..."

NOCHT |
[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy]It was kind of pathetic that the only time Nocht really spoke was when he was being influenced by some sort of substance. Even when he did speak when he was normal, it was very broken up, and never ever about his feelings. He had a hard time connecting to his feelings, or other's feelings; everything was so foreign for him when it came to emotions. Perhaps it was due to his own neglect as a pup from his mother and father, but Nocht just really had no way to understand and grasp feelings, and the reactions and reasons behind them. Even his own baffled him at times.
So it was nice for Nocht to finally, blissfully, just blabber on about gulls, and stupid things. Of all the wolves he would have preferred to do this for, Moonrose was the first and last wolf. First, because she was his friend, and he felt comfortable around her, last because he was confused about her emotions with him. Kalylia had brought up some questions he was not sure how to answer. Moon's voice brought him out of reverie, and his eyes struggled to focus on her red face. She didn't think she'd have pups? His lips struggled to form a surprise look, which in turn just let his jaw flack open. "But can't you just imagine little Moonie's prancing around in the flowers, singing merrily and wagging their little puppy tails?" the more he thought about it, the more he could visualize little red furballs prancing around, with random splotches of black and... wait what. Where did the black come from. His brow furrowed but his mind shifted as he grabbed Moon and held her tight, snuggling his face into her warm fur.
She seemed to lay there stiff for a few moments, but Nocht was too busy "snuggling" (smooshing his face into her shoulder) to notice. She rolled though and Nocht almost rolled with her, but flopped back down on his side, leg across his back. Suddenly though her teeth were bared, and she bit on his ear. Had he not been under the influence of elder sprouts, the bite would have caused pain. But the novocain like substance dulled the pain, making it tickle. He began to giggle uncontrollably, snorting and guffawing, his noises drowning out her voice to him. He began to roll haphazardly across the cave for, wiggling his bum (in attempts to wiggle his tails). "Ooooooh Moonie that tickles!" he finally mustered out, rolling back towards her and staring at her with huge eyes.
"Imma poke you," he said suddenly, moving his nose to poke her in the belly, in an attempt to tickle her back.

Her ears flattened and lifted uneasily at the topic of pups. She had memories of her mother, such a beautiful wolf she had been. Her mother had had golden fur and these gorgeous amethyst eyes. Her mother had been so pretty, yet she had gotten her father's crimson fur and sapphire eyes. Not that those weren't pretty, she just rather would have looked like her mother. As for the white on her left foreleg, no one was quite too sure where that had come from. It had been a mystery to her family and to her pack, so they could only assume it was a gift from the Great Spirit of sorts. Though, the female could not see how a white leg was a gift. What was a gift was her natural ability to fight, as well as her clear thinking mind. Another gift she had received from the Great Spirit, though only recently, was her power of Telekinesis, the ability to move things with her mind.
As he spoke, for a moment she could imagine a few little puppies that looked relatively like her running about in a field, yipping out in joy as they chased flying insects. She could picture their little bush tails wagging back and forth in pure happiness. She could see them climbing all over her in their attempt to push her over for a little wrestling match, but her having to pretend to fall over even when they didn't have the strength to. Such thoughts made her smile, and she was lost in them for a second. Reality came back to her quickly and she shook her head, returning her gaze to Nocht. 'Yes, I can imagine them, I can see them...' "No, Nocht. I can't imagine little me's running around in a field and singing." She was only unwilling to admit this because of her fear on the subject.
She yelped slightly when he seemed to grasp onto her for dear life, burying his face into her shoulder. She froze, every muscle in her body refusing to work in those moments. She felt her skin heat up greatly, burning her fur and even stinging her eyes a little bit. She was unaware of what to do at this point, for she did not do well in situations like this, especially with how she was feeling about the male at this point. Sure, she knew exactly how she felt, but she did not like those feelings nor did she know what to do about them. Satinka had told her facing them was one of her options, but, as bold as she could be, she was too scared to even think about doing such a thing. Perhaps it was Nocht's reaction she did not want to receive. No, she wanted answers and she wanted a reaction, she just did not want a negative one.
Sighing, she found a way to push him off and, after having bitten his ear, watching in utter amazement as he poked her stomach with his nose. It did not do much to her at all, it just felt like a prodding in her side. Of course, that's pretty much what it was, but she was usually ticklish. Her muscles were taught at the moment, perhaps the reason she could feel nothing akin to tickleshness. His awkward tail wiggle made her chuckle though and she shifted away slightly, out of reach of his nose. Gently, she nuzzled his forehead. "What am I going to do with you...?"
