Image or Description: Pelt: The Allumos are a species adapted to life in wintery, snowy areas; and this has caused an adaptation of sorts. While this adaptation does not help outside of the snowy dens of the arctic, it is highly useful there. They have enormous, thick coats, in some cases the fur layer is one or two inches thick. This coat is normally snow-white or a light gray, or otherwise a pale, natural color. The four main colors are white, gray, pale russet or pale tan; and black is a very rare color. All cubs are born black, and as they age their coats white, gray, or brown, and by the age of three their coat is as thick, long, and fully-colored; and this change is rather funny to see when the wolves aren’t fully-adult coated but randomly patched with black and their adult colors. On highly rare occasions they are all black, but these wolves are normally weak physically due to some strange black-coat and weak-body gene combo.
They have un-natural colors on their body markings, of course, and they are always found to have their eye colors on their ear tips, and at night—like lyxxus eyes—these marking glow faintly. They normally have the same color—though paler—on their back, paws, or in a pattern/design on their body.
Build: These wolves are born for a life of mountain-climbing, and this has given them a very long-legged, wiry build to keep them trimmed and powerful enough to climb and jump on the arduous mountain ranges they call home. They have thin shoulders, long legs, and an overall slim but tall body, which gives them an advantage of squeezing into tight spaces. Of course, this thinner build is not good in a fight against something like a Lumen or Yagi, who are built for fighting.
They have naturally bobbed tails, and this is a permanent thing, the longest tail one could have would be six inches at most, though this is not common.
Another thing is rather amazing. Due to their rocky life, they have evolved to have every advantage on the slopes—instead of having dew claw, it seems to have migrated down and into a slight-elevated fifth toe, though nothing like a thumb, it has uses—they can grasp things in their front paws, normally rocks or cliffs, and move them, though it requires lots of practice and hasn’t fully evolved.
Sound & Movement: These wolves can be heard from miles away, their howls normally deep and gravelly tones in males, and regular tones in females; and in speech this is the same way, the males’ tones heavy and deeper than females’.
The Allumo move with distinct speed and agility, especially on slopes, and can be rather speedy and are great as scouts. They normally fall into this position in packs, or as hunters, due to their speed and fifth toe.
Name: Allumo // Allumos
Size: 30—36 inches; 70—80 lbs
Lifespan: Normally 15—20 years, though some live to 30
Pelt: Normally white, light to medium gray, pale russet or pale tan coats, which take three years to fully grow in. Pups are jet black at birth. They have their eye colors on their ears, and on a design on their back/paws/body.
Eyes: Normally their eyes are any shades of yellow, green, blue, orange, or purple; this color is displayed on their coats on a pattern and on their ear tips.
Strengths: +Speed +Agility & Climbing +Fifth toe
Blurb: These wolves are very reclusive and tended not to interact much with others, preferring the tundra’s expansive land to the north and its mountains, and most packs lived outside of the Wonderwhy lands, though a few did tend to live near enough Yagi that, of this species hybrids, are the most common. They have alienated themselves from others, and their weakening bloodlines are a problem. However, they are the only population of their species, making it difficult for them to strengthen themselves and their heritage, making the once un-heard of hybrids grudgingly accepted, though they have only allowed Yagi x Allumos hybrids.
Moving on, these species are built for the tundra with enormous and snow-shoe-like paws, a bobbed tail for extra speed, long limbs and a sense of proprioception in the extreme; all contributing to their grace and speed in the tundra. Thick coats that are hydrophobic, meaning that snow and ice cannot form on their pelts, and keep in the heat protect them in even the coldest of whiteouts. They have poor eyesight, however, and make up for this with their sense of smell and hearing; it is possible this poor eyesight is due to generations of getting the ice-sun reflection in their eyes.
Lore: The Allumos are white, with pelts that tend to gently glow at night (but nothing special), and are sometimes considered by travelers as arctic ghosts. Since these wolves are reclusive they have virtually never heard of any species but Yagi, and are reluctant to inter-breed because of this. Legends are told of the Great Spirit, and most packs are highly religious, even offering sacrificial animals from the tundra, and deformed pups (only in the most religious of groups, though this practice has mostly been stamped out and the pups are killed or left to live, depending on the deformity.
The stories of traveling wolves with wings, tails, and strange structures that are sometimes called “butterfly wings,” along with multi-tailed wolves, and wolves who control elements, are often told and recently pairs and cubs and even entire packs have left their homes to go south, to see if these rumors are true, and if they are, to see if it is possible to survive in their ecosystems…
Could this highly adaptive species change again?
