It was dawn. The morning sun shone through the thick cloud cover of the grey sky, illuminating a winter wonderland. A new thick, fresh blanket of snow covered the flat ground of the prairie. Untouched and perfect, sparkling in the suns ever weakening rays. It looked like that of a dream, thick snow lay on the branches of the few trees that dotted the flat piece of land, under one of those trees lay the sleeping form of Avani. Her sapphire wings, covered with a thin layer of frost, sparkled, and her flowers, well they looked almost unreal. She opened her eyes, a blue the colour of the arabian night sky what a gorgeous blue it was, matching the colour of her wings. Slowly lifting her head with a yawn and taking note of the frost that covered her flowers and wings began to beat them to warm them up.
Little did she know that the branch above her was heavy with snow and the quick beating of her wings was just enough for it to slide off the branch, hitting her right in the head. Startled she jumped to her feet until she realized what had happened and quickly shook the snow off, glancing around hoping no one had seen that embarassing display before sitting back down again debating whether or not to even try and hunt in such deep snow when there was probably nothing to find.

T H E . M A G I C I A N Cold, why was it always so cold now? Winter was a finicky mistress, she was. So lovely and full of beauty yet so cruel and cold-hearted. The sennyo squeezed his eyes shut, feigning off the light he could sense creeping up against the horizon. Revontulet was never the early bird, always trying to stay asleep as long as possible. More sleep was something he always welcomed. Though, hopefully with the sun beginning to come out, it would mean a small break from the impossible cold of the night. He curled up more, letting his back press up against the trunk of the tree he used for his temporary shelter. He had no intention on getting up soon, it was still to early in his opinion. The dawn was not a time for gallivanting about, but a time for rest and relaxation. Revon pawed at his noes, still keeping his dark gray eyes shut, and attempted to get the snow from when he had his face buried into the ground. He shifted his body once more, in search of a more comfortable position, grumbling and complaining as he did so. Rolling over, Revon went colliding into the trunk of the tree, a loud thud reaching his ears and a sense of pain running through his head. Before he knew it, he was met with a large pile of snow the cold mush greeting his face. The icy pain caused a loud string of profanities to escape his mouth. The sennyo got to his feet, unwillingly, clearly crossed with the little mishap. Snow, winter, the cold. Revontulet let out a scoff before stretching, the chilly air causing his muscles to protest and his entire body to want to curl back under the tree. Another string of vulgar language before he set off, contemplating if he’d have a good chance on getting something to eat today. There didn’t seem to be any snow drifting toward the earth today, that would have meant the tracks would be visible and easier to track... But he was still tired, and with all his traveling from last night and the day before, perhaps a day of relaxation would have been better. Maybe he could put a show today and set food as his payment, find a pack to perform for... No, the lands he stumbled upon didn’t belong to a pack, and there wouldn’t be any more walking for a while. If he found a traveling family, he could entertain them and tag along if they were willing, yes that sounded like a decent plan. But if not, then what? Revontulet let out an irritated groan and continued to walk through the snow covered lands. The wind continued to run through his fur, brushing over Revon and bringing an icy chill. What the winds also brought though, was a scent. Nothing incredibly strong, but still, it was the faintest scent of another, and it put a grin on the sennyo’s face. Finding the direction of which the scent came from, he picked up the pace, hoping whoever he would encounter was kind enough to let a lowly showman tag along on their journey. He knew he was a loner, a wolf without a pack, but it wasn’t all too fun to be lonely. He needed someone to talk to, someone who would engage in conversation with him. A story and magic tricks in trade for company seemed like a fair deal, right? Revon let out a soft chuckle, realizing there would need to be more than illusions to compensate for his loud mouth and inability to keep quiet. Eventually, the scent was strong and obvious who ever he was following was incredibly close. Peering around trees, his eyes fell upon the view of another wolf. One who’s beauty was without question. The female’s wings made him think Sennyo, like himself, but the plants and wildlife that adorned her body made him think otherwise. Watching as she shook snow off her pelt, Revon couldn’t help but laugh as he had realized she must have had the same trouble as he did when waking up. Letting his laughter subside, he padded up to her, stopping a couple meters away. ”You alright, love?” Revon asked, a gentle smile on his lips and his eyes, though dark and stormy gray, showed amusement and joy. ”Don’t worry, same thing happened to me too.” He added, giving a quick wink after glancing over at the tree behind her. Hopefully she wouldn’t mind his company because Revon just wasn’t quite ready to start talking to himself yet. word count ;; 784 ! tags ;; avani ! ooc notes ;; first post with new character , always the worst. sorry. OOC: Sorry if I'm interrupting
Cresent shivered as she walked through the snow, it wasn't snowing, but it was freezing to the Lyxxi. She just hated the snow, why it even had to exist, it was beyond her. She just wanted to sprout wings, fly to the clouds, and destroy all possibility of snow. But being up so high would be cold too, it wouldn't be worth it, she decided. So, she decided to help any other wolves that would be coming through here by 'dusting' a walkway with her tails through the snow.
She started to wonder why she even went here in the first place if it was covered in snow. Cresent grumbled, she just wanted to get to a warmer place, but no, apparently she can't be nice and warm, Cresent just had to be cold during the winter months. She decided to stop and started growling at the snow, then started attacking it with her claws until she dug a small crater in the snow and dirt.
She smiled and sat down on the crater, at least it was a bit warmer, she thought. She then started to look around and saw an oddly colored wolf talking to another wolf, they both looked like they had little wings on them, and she thought back to another wolf like that she had met before. She laughed to herself and got out of the crater. I'll be back in the little crater to make the trip back to the valley soon, she thought happily, and ran to the wolves.
Cresent stopped next to a wolf that looked like she had fauna on her fur, she couldn't help but look at the black wolf's flowers. "You have a VERY beautiful pelt, how did you get the flowers to stay on?" She asked. Then Cresent looked at her wings, they looked really long and skinny, she wondered if the wolf could fly or even hover with the wings. "Excuse me, but can you fly with those wings?" She decided to ask. Then she went on to the other wolf, and looked at him.
He had a very oddly colored pelt, with shades of blue and yellow and even a bit of purple. She smiled at this and looked up at his antennae, they looked so odd, Cresent just didn't think that a wolf should even have antennae, but she had to admit, it was a bit unique. She then realized that she must have scared the heck out of the wolves, they probably didn't expect her to randomly appear and comment on their appearance.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to intrude or startle you." She gently nodded her head to mimic a bow. "I'm Cresent, and you two are?" They looked like such nice wolves, perhaps she could befriend them, maybe if they weren't part of a pack, they could come along and join her in the valley, then they could be around each other more, like friends should. Cresent shook her head, she was getting ahead of herself. She just hoped that they weren't hostile, looks can be deceiving.

As Avani sat there a chilly breeze started up chilling her to her bones despite her long thick fur. And the snow just made it worse for now she was wet and cold. But with the wind came two scents one stronger then the other but both really fresh. Supressing a shiver, she focused on locating the two scents but it wasnt long before she heard the voice of a male behind her. Turning her head she saw him, a sennyo, and a handsome one at that with shades of blue and purple and yellow, with some very pretty dusky blue looking wings. His eyes were a shocking silvery grey, she had never seen eyes like those before. Returning his kind smile she gave him a nod inviting him to join her, she was a bit lonely aswell and some company never hurt.
Suddenly another voice sounded nearby, this one of a female and much louder, flattening her ears at the sudden noise she searched for the form of the female, she wasnt hard to find even though she was small her brown toned pelt stood out of the white scene. Questions and compliments seemed to burst from her mouth, and as much as she disliked compliments about her beauty she gave the female a friendly smile and decided to invite her over aswell. It had been awhile since she had been with more than a single wolf at a time as she found it very hard to communicate. She decided it would be best if she wrote her name in the snow to show that she couldnt speak and who she was. Placing a single black paw down she drew out A-V-A-N-I in the snow before looking back at the two giving them each a nod, but more interested in the name of the handsome sennyo who stood before her.

T H E . M A G I C I A N Before he knew it, another scent was filling the air. Revontulet turned his head, trying to spot the new stranger, and scanned the area surrounding him. Suddenly, a small golden brown wolf came into view. His brow arched as she began to speak, her words directed at the other female with the flower coated pelt. Revon bit back a laugh when she asked if the other could fly. That was one way to greet a stranger, inquiring about their wings and appearance. When the small wolf turned to him, he averted his attention to the other. Hopefully she wouldn’t comment on his appearance, it felt so strange to him. Usually the comments he got were because he was ‘far too colorful’ or that his eyes were ‘those of an old soul’s.’ To be scrutinized wasn’t something the sennyo looked forward to, but should the russet colored wolf insult his appearance, he had a few retorts he wasn’t afraid to spurt out. I'm Cresent, and you two are? He turned back to the one who referred to herself as Cresent. When he looked at her more carefully, he noticed four tails right behind her. Lyxxus then, yes? He had encountered a few while on travels, their tails providing much amusement. Revontulet waited for the other female to state her name, as he was more curious to learn about her rather than learn what he already knew about himself. Waiting for her reply, Revon continued to look over her and study her appearance. She sure was quite the sight, though her pelt was black, the flowers scattered over her created a striking contrast, and her wings matched her appearance well. What he was most mesmerized with though where her eyes. Such a strange and unique blue, he had yet to meet anyone with a shade like hers. His head tilted and his eyes questioned when she put out her paw, creating lines in the snow... Spelling out something. ”Avani?” He said, making sure he had read the letters right. He let her name linger on his tongue, and enjoyed the way it sounded. But why did she need to write it in the ground? Could she not speak? Or perhaps she just was not fond of talking... Such a strange opposite. Revon was a wolf who’s mouth could run for days on end, his voice constantly being heard by many others. To meet someone who was practically mute, it was a change of pace for the sennyo. So perhaps he could befriend her a different way then. Giving a determined look at the snow, he began to create lines as well. Inscribing his title in the snow, he set the words so they would appear upside-down to him, but the proper way to the female and the lyxxus beside her. The Magician. When he finished, he gave a majestic bow, as if he set himself in the presence of royalty. When he had risen, he gave both a quick smile. Revontulet closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on the butterfly he had first conjured up so long ago. Back then, it had taken much energy to produce something so alive yet still so small. Now, after over a century of practice, it came to him easily. When he opened his eyes, the pale gray butterfly began to form in mid air. As much as he enjoyed showing off, he let the illusion seem like such, the fluttering creature set to be mildly translucent and with a faint shimmer. The small gray butterfly settled down on top of the snow, resting right next to Avani’s name. And just as quickly as it had appeared, it dispersed into the world, without a trace of evidence showing it had even existed. Revontulet gave a curt nod, and awaited their reaction. It wasn’t a proper show, but it didn’t hurt anyone to show a small party trick for his given title. word count ;; 674 ! tags ;; avani ! cresent ! ooc notes ;; awful post is awful. also, is black easier to read? musical inspiration ;; don't panic - coldplay ! |

Cresent smiled at the flower-covered wolf when she spelled out her name in the snow. 'Avani', well, that's a very pretty name, Cresent thought. She wondered Avani could speak, if Cresent herself had to choose between speaking or writing out words in the snow, she'd choose speaking, hands down. She then contemplated if the wolf could hear, she thought that maybe the wolf had never learned, she couldn't hear to have been able to learn in the first place.
She laughed at her own thoughts, it was complicated, but maybe it was true. She decided to try speaking to Avani to test this. "So, are you part of a pack?" Cresent smiled and said this as smoothly as possible so if Avani could hear, so her words would be loud and clear. Her attention then turned to the oddly colored wolf, who also wrote his name in the snow. 'The Magician?' She thought. Well, that's a very odd name, but its a name none the less...
Cresent smiled at The Magician, and suddenly something caught her eye. It was...a butterfly? What would a butterfly be doing in the cold? Her eyes followed it to Avani's name on the snow, then, it suddenly vanished? Cresent really didn't know how to take this, so she just started freaking out. She yelled at almost the top of her lungs, "What the heck is a butterfly doing here outside in winter?! Where did it vanish to?! Why was it shimmering?!" She stopped. The Magician, he must have done this!
Cresent laughed at the little butterfly trick and smiled at him, "Oh I get it! That's why you have that name, you can make butterflies appear!" She chuckled a bit and patted the wolf on the head, job well done to you sir, she thought. Maybe if this wolf could make butterflies randomly appear, she could do something in return to impress him! Cresent wondered what could impress such a wolf, perhaps something with her tails?
She smiled and moved her tails around, and curved them so her four tails formed the simple shape of a butterfly. "I bet you can't do this, Magician!" She said triumphantly. She knew he couldn't, unless he could make three more of his own tails magically appear, and be able to control their movements with ease. Cresent patted The Magician on the head and sat down. "So, how did you get these magic powers to create little butterflies in the first place? And can you make anything else?"

Post by Torment on Dec 31, 2011 19:16:00 GMT -5
((OOC: Sorry for the super late reply >.< Is it too late to join?))
As soon as winter arrived, Torment began walking.
It was a lesson he learned quickly upon arriving in this land. Jaunt had told him once of the harsh winters in the north, and how the snow and ice had a way of creeping through even thick fur, leaving wolves frozen solid. However, in Torment's experience, snow was something that never stuck to the ground, when it came at all, and cold was but a passing feeling.
Then the first snow had come, and with it the deep, painful bite of the wind as it raked beneath his feathers and tore at his fur, howling insults into his ears as he tried to fly through the dizzying white gale.
After about ten minutes, he had dropped to the ground and proceeded on paw.
It wasn't all too bad, walking. He slipped every now and again, and the thick snow felt strange on the pads of his paws. Every so often, he'd pause and lick away the snow, relishing the warmth of his tongue on his freezing appendages.
All in all, he decided, he was not designed to live in the snow.
Once the weather cleared up a bit, he planned on leaving this land. There were plenty of places that didn't get snow, and he was determined to get to them as quickly as was lupinely possible.
Just as he was about to jump into the sky, he noticed a group of wolves not too far away. Curiosity quickly got the better of him, and he folded his wings again. He arrived at the group just in time to see a small grey butterfly appear and vanish, and a lyxxus then bend her tails to mimic the little creature.
This part was always the hardest for him. There was always a moment of indecision. On the one hand, it was good to meet new wolves. There was always something new to learn, and plenty of chances for friendship. On the other hand they could be cruel to outsiders, just the sort who he had encountered plenty of times before. In the end, he sat down, scratching his ear as he waited for somebody to notice him.

Avani gave the sennyo a happy nod when he pronounced her name correctly then watched quizzickly as he too started to write in the snow. As she watched she heard Cresent ask if she had a pack, still looking down at the ground she shook her head to tell her no she would have payed more attention to the talkative female but she was way more interested in what the male was writing in the snow. When he was done she read the words The Magician.
A bit confused she looked up at him her head slightly tilted. It was then that a movement caught her eye. Looking a up she saw a butterfly appear, it was a beautiful butterfly, but it was slightly transparent and the way it shimmered proved that it wasnt really there. It floated down from the sky and landed upon her name flapping its wings once before disappearing into thin air. Looking back at the male with a joyful smile, she now knew what he meant. He was The Magician who had created this wonderful illusion.
Once again the lyxxus females voice sounded triumphantly beside her as she turned to look to see her four tails also curled into the shape of a butterfly, then began to ask how the male created such illusions. Though she was just as curious shed rather he not reveal his secret as it was more magical that way. She was also finding the little brown lyxxus a bit annoying but it was not like her to push someone away or be rude. Deciding just to go with it for she had nothing she could "say", as she awaited The Magician's answer.

T H E . M A G I C I A N Revontulet’s brow arched when the lyxxus went into a bit of a frenzy, going on about the butterfly. She was quite loud, and incredibly talkative. Quite like himself, but... he was different in a sense. Well, he was a hell of a lot more different than the smaller wolf in many ways, but he was a different sort of loud and talkative. Revon pushed it to the back of his thoughts, ignoring it for the time being. When he noticed the other female shake her head ‘no’ in response to Cresent’s question, he turned to her, his head tilting and studied her. So she was alone in the world as well? Wandering around the lands of the vast beyond without a pack? He tried to force back the memories of Kylma, his past lover. The memories threatened to push at the seams, fighting to break through from where he buried them so long ago. It took a lot for those memories to surface, perhaps one day he’d be able to ignore them every time he saw a pretty face. Revon mentally laughed at that, a pretty face. It didn’t entirely go against his new moral codes, to never fall in love again. Nothing went against flirting and fooling around, a one night stand, as it were. Though he had a feeling that Avani wasn’t the sort to ‘fool around’. Oh I get it! That's why you have that name, you can make butterflies appear! Revontulet gave a mock look of horror at the lyxxus, acting as if he was insulted by her words. ”Make butterflies appear? You mock me, madam! I can do more than that!” He said, still playing the drama queen card. He gave her another look when she patted him on the head. No one ever patted him on the head before... it was a bit odd. Huh, awkward much? He shrugged it off, and watched as Cresent performed her own little party trick. Watching as her tails copied the figure of a butterfly, he laughed as she inquired that he could perform no such thing. Now Revon was never one to change his own appearance, he felt it just wasn’t something he liked, but it would harm anyone if he tried to add a couple other tails, would it? Though, physical modifications were tricky at times, he had years and years of practice. Closing his eyes, and concentrating on what he wanted, he sought out to give himself his own tails like the lyxxus had. Imagining his own pelt color and the form of his tail, he visualized every little detail, from the size all the way down to the movements. When he opened his eyes, three other tails had found themselves alongside his own, the real one. Turning his head, he watched them as all four swished in unison. ” a lot more impressive than butterflies, don’t you think?” he said, turning back to the two females, and suddenly, the false tails vanished, as the butterfly had. ”A magician, never reveals his secrets.” he said in response to Cresent’s question then gave a wink, going back to his more mischievous and flirtatious side. It was true, because then it wouldn’t have been much a secret, now would it? And not only were his tricks kept under lock and key, his history as well. Only very few knew that story, and within those few were his family and Kylma. Secrets buried with the dead. Except some of them may not have been dead, as he and his brother, Dev’on had been reunited. And once more, another scent filled the air. He turned his head in the direction from which it came from, and spotted another winged wolf, though this one more obviously keiyou descent. Revontulet had vast experience when it came to figuring out species, it didn’t take very long to figure the new stranger’s bloodlines. Though, Avani caused him a bit of trouble, he would have to ask her eventually as his curiosity would most likely get the better of him soon enough. Taking a step in the other male’s direction, he called out to him. ”Are you alright over there, Sir?” Revontulet was a bit curious as to why the stranger hadn’t joined them. Perhaps he was a bit shy? Or maybe anti-social? Either way, he wouldn’t have it. There was nothing worst than being alone in the world, and in Revon’s eyes, the other male seemed to be in need of dire company. word count ;; 803 ! tags ;; avani ! cresent ! torment ! ooc notes ;; bah , *flicks Revon's head* musical inspiration ;; video games - lana del rey ! |

Cresent sighed and noticed something out of the corner of her eye, it was...another wolf? The wolf had wings and was scratching his ear with his hind leg. Cresent smiled and started to walk to the wolf. She stopped, what if the wolf didn't want to approach her, or perhaps he didn't want to meet The Magician or Avani ether. She lowered her head and moved back a little to the place she was originally and sat back down.
She frowned at The Magician when he accused her of mocking, she quickly started apologizing, "Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to seem like I was mocking you, who would mock such an amazing wolf like yourself, I mean, you can make butterflies out of thin air! That on its own is pretty amazing if you ask me..." She trailed off when the oddly colored wolf started concentrating.
Cresent's jaw dropped to the point if she was surprised anymore, her muzzle would have fallen clean off of her face. The wolf...somehow made more tails appear on him! "Okay, now that's just unfair!" She shouted, this wolf was just amazing, he was like an actual personified version of the Great Spirit, Cresent was truly shocked.
"How...what.....uhh....." Cresent stumbled with her words, she was just confused now, it was like something insane happened and she had no real idea how. "Umm....yes, much more impressive than butterflies..." She was wide-eyed and wondered what to do now.
Cresent looked at Avani, and her dragonfly wings. She then looked to The Magician and looked at the butterfly wings, then to the wolf that seemed to be anti-social, and well, he had wings. "So, Magician, would it be possible to make some sort of weird illusion to make it look like I have wings? Its just that everyone here has wings, I feel left out,"She said. Its just that there were three other wolves here and she was the only one without wings, sure she had extra tails, but the Magician could easily make those appear on himself. Cresent just wanted to know what it would look like if she had wings, she just wondered.
