He'd seen her rush off this way. Quickly Kainashi attempted to follow Evelyn's trail. After his late arrival to the pack meeting, he had seen her rush off. He knew she was probably frustrated, and angry with him.
Plus with as much time as he has already had by her side, he thought he knew her pretty well. It would be wise for him to pursue her, to get to the bottom of his dramatic reappearance. On the other hand, following her might not end well, but what else was he to do?
He took a deep breath and took off in the direction for which he thought her scent led. He went down a rocky slope slowly, placing his footing with caution before trotting to where he suspected her to be hiding. He wondered if she was indeed in the area, or if his nose was failing him. Besides, she could have simply cloaked herself from his sight. He refused to do this though, he would have to face this head-on. No hiding. Especially not from his mate, no matter how scary she could be. "Ev?" he called out to her. "Please come out, where ever you are."
He looked around again. He sighed and sat on his haunches, admiring the scenery. Although it was the middle of Winter, he could still find beauty in the area. He could tell, though, that with the tough weather comes consequences--less game. That didn't mean much to the Lumen, but winter also meant less plant-life, which was Kain's main source of food.
By day he was growing thinner. He didn't want to prey on the animals' life forces. He would have to eventually, but only if it became the last option. "Evelyn?" he asked again, feeling his limbs going cold.

What had happened? She barely remembered the last few moments. Kainashi had shown up and he had spoken her name. For a moment, she believed that everything was okay and that he had every recollection of what had happened in the last several months. For just one instance, she felt secure and overjoyed to have her mate back. To have the love of her life, the one and only male she would ever give her heart to, back in her loving embrace. However, the expression on his face said miles to her, miles that could never be spoken at any other time.
He didn't remember.
Evelyn had run away from the meeting, barreling down part of the cliff in order to escape what she had not been a part of for so long. To have him suddenly reintroduced as he had been, there were things that shocked her too greatly. Her heart pounded painfully in her chest as she remained hidden behind the rock, afraid to reveal herself even as he called for her. Her mind screamed at her in so many different ways, to hide and to go to him. It reminded her of her first meeting, the first time she had seen a Lumen in so many years. She thought he was there to kill her as her pack had failed to do all those decades ago. She remembered being so afraid to reveal herself to him, despite her ultimate bravado on an everyday basis.
From her hiding place, she saw him sit on his haunches and gaze out at the scenery. She felt herself stand up and step out of her hiding place, flinching slightly when he called her name again. She realized her markings mimicked his, yet in the color of the poppies of their old home. She had done that in his remembrance, as her memory of him. Of his markings and his love for those poppies. Their times there together, too. There were those as well, and she hadn't forgotten one of them. She stared at him a moment before padding silently to his side, sitting beside him yet not touching. Her harsh crimson gaze stared straight ahead, not wanting to look at him.
"...Do you really only remember me? Nothing else?"
Her voice was tentative and gentle. She wasn't mad at him, just scared and frustrated. This had happened last time. He had shown up with no memory of anything that had happened in the last several months. He didn't remember her last time, even, but he did this time, so it was progress. She wondered what else he knew and she hoped everything would come back quickly. The last thing she wanted was to lose her mate again, and especially to the dark void that occupied his mind. She wanted him to remember, she wanted him to be normal again. Everything. That's what she wanted out of him. Selfish as it sounded, she needed it.

She could be sprinting off somewhere in the opposite direction, undetected by his senses. He looked at the ground, allowing a low depressed whimper escape his maw.
His blue-tipped ears flicked as he heard paw-steps coming up to him. He didn't turn around, knowing exactly who it was. He could feel her growing closer to him. He trusted her with his life, as she seemed to hold his existence in her paw.
He inclined his head as she sat, her rough line-of-sight not resting on him. She spoke, still resisting his gaze. He felt somewhat ashamed, thinking that this was connected to him; what had he done to her?
Her stance seemed to tell stories. They had hard times, good times, and time when they couldn't stand to see each other. Right now was one of those mixed feelings. He loved Evelyn, and her coming to face him meant there was hope, but why did she not look at him?
He took a moment to collect his thoughts. What all did he know? He knew he didn't possibly know everything there was to know about himself, and might never, but he also knew that he wished to know these things.
He wanted for things to go back to normal. Then again, what was normal? He realized what he considered normal now, might not be so normal to her--or what used to be to him.
"I cannot say that I know everything there is to know. But I do know that you are my mate, and the love of my life. I remember joining the Alliance for the sole purpose of us. I remember being my ranking, and Faye. I remember Magispar," he broke off, only to attempt to meet her gaze, "and I remember how we met. I remember how frightened we both were to meet one another, and then how we seemed to click once we'd come out of hiding." He smiled.
"I remembered your Poppy-like scent, and how it brings me peace. How cute you look when you're frustrated . . And now, how distraught you seem now that I have found my way back." His gaze turned hardened as he stared at her pink-tipped appendages. He wasn't sure how they were to ever continue. It was time to assess the damage he had done unknowingly. But it's just like they say, 'Forget Me Not.'
