Darkness was soon obliterated by the sunlight that filtered between the trees. It seemed it was determined to wake up the wolf called Sunchaser. She sighed softly, shaking her pelt of the snow that had fallen into her den during the middle of the night. She had made this den on the outskirts of the Heimili Forest. It was her first night in this den that she had created for herself, and she was rather proud at how she had made a good home for herself. She wiggled against the warm walls, looking out at the sun that streamed in, wondering why it had to be morning already.
She sighed, realizing there was no way she would get back to sleep. Grumbling softly to herself she got up out of the den and looked around at the beautiful scenery. She smiled to herself before taking a big sniff of the air, searching for signs of a meal. The scents of many wolves reached her, however she also had the scent of a synesinger. She rose a brow, turning south towards the scent and smiling, if only she could catch it before it saw her. She trotted, following the scent as it got stronger and stronger. Soon she knew she would see the bird.
Her body halted as she heard the sound of the bird in the snow. She looked around the corner of the tree and saw the bird in the clearing. Smart bird, stay in the open and you can see all the enemies that would come at you. Well all except the ones from the air. Looking around her she saw a good tree that she could get to and then fly to her prey. Smiling t herself she launched onto the tree branch, being careful to not make any noise. Soon she was at the correct tree to glide and catch the creature. She watched it from the branch, waiting for her opportune moment.
After a few minutes of waiting the creature turned away from her spot, giving her, her chance. With a smirk she pounced onto the creature. No sound escaped the bird for she knew what these things could do. She snapped its neck as soon as she touched it. Her body puffed up with pride, her first catch in a long time. Finally a meal she could have and not beg off another wolf. She looked around. She would have to patrol the boarders latter but right now she could eat the bird and then perhaps find someone to do the patrol with so that she could learn what exactly a guardian did.

It was not often that Aurora went out of her cozy den, anyone who ever spent time with her knew that. Especially when it was a day such as this, cold and slightly windy.
However, Aurora's grouchy stomach just couldn't seem to be quiet. Aurora rolled onto her belly, staring outside the entrance of her den. She could hear the soft whimpers of her daughters, cuddled to her side. Her blue eyes looked lovingly down at the pair, one about like her mother and the other nearly the opposite, save for the blue eyes and white patch on her beautiful forehead.
Reluctantly Aurora easily slid onto all fours, attempting to leave her pups snoozing. Hopefully they would still be sleeping by the time she returned, though she would recruit her son Nocht to watch them in her absence. Nocht was about the only one who could watch them, seeing as Moonrose was probably off on patrols and son Altan was no where to be found, plus he hadn't really communicated with his mother since her return. Satinka, Aurora's adopted daughter, wouldn't be okay to watch them since there was still a veil of tension between them, and the fact that she had her own pups to watch. Sighing, she padded to the opening of her den, on the lookout for Nocht. Usually he brought a meal to them, but there was no sign of him as of late.
"Mommy?" Alla asked.
Aurora turned to see the fluffy red fur, and black markings of her daughter. The pup's golden eyes stared deeply into her own, causing her to smile. Alla reminded her of herself at that age, curious and stubborn. "Yes, Dear?" Aurora replied softly.
"Where are you going?" Alla barked, trotting after her mother and nuzzling into her red fur.
"Hunting, but Nocht will be around soon," Aurora said frankly.
"I want to come with you, though!" Alla exclaimed, wrapping her paws around her mother's legs. "And I'm not letting go."
Aurora sighed, affectionately licking her daughter's red ear. "It's cold out there, even snowed last night."
"I'm a big girl, Mommy. I can take it!" Alla reassured.
Aurora chuckled before gingerly picking Alla up by the scruff in her jaws, and heading out quickly. She knew the area was heavily guarded, as the patrols should be heading out now. Besides, one cry and the whole pack could be here. The pack knew of the pups, as did the father--Reynard. The pack leader could definitely have the pack out here on a search of the Children's territory in a matter of moments. So she didn't need to worry too much.
"Snow," Alla mumbled as she stared at the ground. "Shhh!" Aurora attempted to hush her around the fur in her jaws. Alla stayed quiet, knowing it was time to learn and, more importantly, to eat.
It didn't take too long for Aurora to catch the scent of a buck in the near distance. Quietly she hunkered closer to the ground, yet still avoiding the sting of the snow just inches below her. Creeping closer to the oblivious animal, she sat Alla on the smooth ground, her messy fur contrasting the white snow. After giving Alla a strict 'Be quiet and pay attention' look, she began sprinting after the animal.
Once she caught it, she quickly tightened her grip around it's neck before waving Alla over. "Woah!" Alla exclaimed as she examined it. "What is it?"
Aurora smirked. "It's a buck, a male deer. See the antlers?" She said, pointing them out to her daughter. The pup nodded, cuddling up into her mother's fur as she waited for her share. Soon after, the screech of a bird filled the crisp air, causing Aurora to jump. Taking Alla by the scruff again, she followed the sound. Minutes later after arriving, she could only bask in the silence. She scanned the horizon for the noisy bird, before her eyes finally come across a lone Keiyou. Aurora had never seen this female, so she kept her distance, although the wolf smelt faintly like the Children. "Hello," she called out.
Thanks to Who, for the table!

Sunchaser smiled to herself and started to consume her meal. After a moment she heard a sound from her left and turned as a voice said hello. Her head snapped up and her ears perked. It took a lot to not growl at the wolf but she managed to not do that. She looked at the female, dropping her food and taking in the smell of the wolf. She smelled what she now knew was Children smell and smiled slightly.
"Hello. From your scent I take it your part of this pack no?" She smiled as she also smelled the scent of dead buck on the female. Now how did she miss that smell when she was hunting? She grumbled mentally but was still happy for the kill that she had made. Her tail wagged slowly as she also smelled milk and the scent of puppies. Her whole demeanor perked up as she picked up those smells. "Do you have puppies?" Yes she always enjoyed puppies. She wished one day to have her own. As she thought this once more a pang went through her body. Shaking herself she ignored it and grabbed the bird, bringing it to the female. She was a neat eater even if she was a hungry one and if the female had pups she would need all the food she could get.
Sunchaser tilted her head at the female, as a bit of cool breeze drifted past the wolves. Little did she ask about the puppies that she saw one. If she was younger she would probably bounce with excitement but instead her tail just wagged more. "Hello. I am Sunchaser, I'm new to the pack." She smiled at the pup before turning back to the mother. Yes she was happy and giddy. While she was new to the pack she also hoped maybe she could find a mate here so that one day soon she could have her own pups.

Through the thin blanket of snow that covered the valley, a bundle of white, bright green and yellow skipped along, humming a little tune to herself. The pup was young, but healthy, and although she had the white, fluffy wings of a Keiyou, her bright colors bespoke of a Lupus heritage. Bright, sunny yellow fur stood out like a flaming beacon in the pup"s snowy surroundings, and the spring grass green that adorned her tail and paws only added to the flowery effect: It was why her parents had named her Daffodil, but her three slightly older brothers always called her Dill for short.
Her bright, curious green eyes would remind other wolves of another, older she-wolf, Kasmira, her mother who was busy sleeping in their cozy den. As a hybrid, Dill needed less sleep that regular wolves, and so was usually up before her mother on most occasions. Then, if she was lucky, the curious pup could escape the den unnoticed for a while, until either her mother or father had to come looking for her. The two and a half month old pup didn't mean to cause her parents worry, but there was so much out there to explore!
And so it was with a happy heart that the colorful wolf bounded along, leaving a small trail of paw prints behind her as she went. It was cold, but she was well protected against the snow, and it wasn't too windy or snowing. She suddenly sat down in wonder, looking up at the sky as a large flock of birds flew overhead, cawing and calling to her to join them, or so it seemed to the little pup. She barked up at them excitedly, running after them to catch up as she fluttered her dove white wings: But to no use.
She slumped for a moment, defeated, until the sound of other wolf voices reached her little ears: She scampered over to the trio, and slid to a stop, grinning. She noticed another pup like her, with wings too, but less colorful. She smiled shyly at her, before piping out: "Hello! There's snow! Isn't that great? My name's Daffodil, but you can call me Dill." she giggled. She had overheard the female Keiyou's last comment, and nodded happily: "Oh, welcome! Oh wow, you have wings like me... Except bigger. Do you like snow?" The question was directed at all the wolves. "'Cause I do. I just love it!" she hopped about a little to demonstrate her apparent joy.
The hybrid was very easily distracted as a pup, something that would mellow out when she grew older. She admired the older wolf's wings, glancing back at her own much smaller ones, and frowning a little. [/scrolly]

Aurora watched as the wolf began to fulfill her hunger, but stopped after Aurora announced herself. The wolf was obviously surprised, or frightened one. Her maw lit up with a smile as she watched the tense wolf as she seemed to lighten up a bit. The wolf dropped her lunch, though.
Aurora gently lowered Alla to the ground, as the pup hunkered down behind her mother cowardly. Like mother like daughter, Aurora thought adoringly. It was true; Alla was nearly a remake of her mother when it came to personality, excluding her curiosity. Aurora never really was a curious one, too afraid to go out on her own and get into trouble. Oh the irony of her past! Though the only reason Aurora left then was to find Raigho, and did indeed get into trouble. Getting lost is not the best thing, but it is what happened.
Aurora chuckled at the she-wolf's question. Was it not obvious by now that she was from the Children? She'd been part of the pack for years now, starting at a Sitter of the former High Chief's mate, Siren. Siren was a Cael who lost her memory, due to the former High Chief himself (Draugur). It was a heart-wrenching fact, but it was unchangeable. That was when Aurora had met Raigho, and gotten pregnant. This was also when Rai left, leaving Aurora to care for her pups alone. Aurora's rank updated to a Healer, as she soon found out that she had been gifted by the Great Spirit. She sighed at all the bittersweet memories, now rather happy with the outcome. "Yes, I am," she informed the female.
Her next question really took her by surprise. It was obvious that the she-wolf was ill-informed, for she didn't yet know of Alla and Naomi. Around the pack, it was a pretty big deal. Not only were they pups of the pack, but they were Reynard's pups. Most importantly, they were not Reynard's intention at all. In fact, he didn't even know they existed until they were born. Aurora looked down at the small pup behind her. "Yes I do. This little girl is Alla. Her sister Naomi is in the den asleep," Aurora paused to let that soak in, "and seeing as you have probably not heard, these pups are fathered by none other than our High Chief, Reynard."
As somehow sensing the female was in pain, Aurora shot forward. Quickly she examined the female, looking her all over. She didn't seem to be in any pain, but something must have harmed her. Aurora cocked her head. "Are you injured? I am one of the pack's Healers." Alla shyly ran over to her mother, taking her place behind her once again.
The female brought the bird over to her. "Oh, no, thank you. We just had a pretty hefty meal, but thanks again!" Aurora smiled at her once again. Sunchaser turned to Alla, who tried to edge further out of the wolf's sight. "Alla, Dear. She is not going to hurt you," Aurora comforted.
"But those w-wings," Alla murmured.
"You have wings too, actually, you have two pairs of them," Aurora reminded her. "Yours will grow to be just as big as hers one day."
Cautiously Alla padded over to her mother's side, taking in full view of the Keiyou. "H-hi. I'm A-Alla." The sound of the other pup caused both Aurora and Alla to jump, surprised by the rather colorful one.
"Welcome, Dill," Aurora said with a gentle smile. There was something familiar about the pup, though she couldn't quite put her mind on it at the moment. Alla turned to see the bright pup. "I'm Alla." Aurora looked down at Alla's pairs of wings, and then to Dill's wings. She was right. Aurora had never truly paid it much mind before, but now that it was pointed out, it was different. Aurora nodded, and Alla said, "Yes! The snow is beautiful!" Excitedly, the young pup pawed the cold snow, watching the way it seemed to sparkle.
Thanks to Who, for the table!

While it might be obvious to others who was in the children, Sun had just joined yesterday. When she said yes to being in the children she perked up, her tail twitching slightly with happiness. She turned her attention to the little puppy that was hiding being the mom pretty much. She smiled softly as she saw the beautiful pup. However the mention that the two had already eaten made her gobble up her meal. It was a good bird and she was glad that she was able to enjoy it without sharing. While she would share because it was in her nature, she also knew she needed to get her strength back up so that she could defend her new family.
She folded her wings as she heared Alla speak. She smiled and laid down in the snow, opening her wings and laying them down as well. "Would you like to see them Alla?" Before she could think much more she heard the sound of another pup coming and turned in time to see her skid to a stop. She chuckled softly as she started to speak. She was shocked at how fast she spoke but Sun took it all in stride. "Yes i do like snow. I'm Sunchaser." She chuckled once more as she heard the other pup respond to Dill to.
Seems both of the pups liked her wings. She kept them out on the snow, but making sure they rested just above it so as not to get them wet. The female was growing happier by the moment. She always enjoyed pups and it seemed Dill had a lot of energy. While it might tire her out eventually she was rather glad to meet such a energetic bundle of fluff. Though its how she though of most pups truthfully. All bundles of Fluff.

Oh what nice wolves! I must tell mum about them later. Daffodil thought happily to herself, and approached the much larger wings, admiring them. Her Da had a pair just like them, just different colors and a little bigger. "Wow, very pretty. My Da has some wings too, but not my mum. She says it's because she's a lu..." She thought for a moment to remember the odd word, then brightened: "A lupus, I think. And Da was a Keiyee... No, no, a Keiyou! Yes, a Keiyou, that was it. I don't know why mum can't have wings, then we could all fly together. But I can't fly right now anyways..." she rambled for a while.
"Hi Alla. Neato, you have two pairs of wings. I guess then you can fly twice as fast! " she giggled, it made sense in her mind. She smiled in glee to see that her new friend enjoyed the snow, as well as her new, well, older friends too. "Snow is fun, but I can't wait for spring too, because then mum says there'll be flowers EVERYWHERE!" The hybrid was rather excited about this fact. She made tiny pawprints in the snow as she restlessly pawed around. "Sunchaser. That's a neat name too. Do other wolves call you Sunny?" she asked innocently. They all seemed really nice, so Sunny just seemed to fit in the little pup's mind.[/scrolly]
