[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy]Nocht was still amazed that Altan had returned. From what he had heard life outside the valley was interesting. He had only been out once, that one fateful time he went to the cove to find the elder sprouts. He still had a huge stash of the plant in his cave, buried under the earth and well hidden. It was of the utmost importance no one find them. Moonrose knew about them, but they had not spoken of them since that night, and Nocht was happy to leave the whole experience behind him.
He moved easily through the terrain, leading Altan to where he hoped he would find Reynard, mostly. He doubted his brother wanted a reunion this early with Aurora, but if she was there it couldn't be helped. As he moved through the lands he let out a few short howls, trying to get Reynard's attention. He knew his adoptive father would be more than thrilled to see Altan. He had been gone so long... missed so much, but even though they were not related by blood he knew the keiyou loved his lyxxus brother.
"I'm sure Reynard will be along soon. Are you hungry at all?" Nocht had grown quite a bit as well since Altan had been gone. Conversation was still strained, but he was becoming more comfortable at talking around other wolves, at least those who he knew and cared for. Strangers he found hard still, but he was moving along. Helpful coaching from Moonrose ensured steady progression as well, and the elder sprouts drained his inhibitions.
[[ Sorry it's short. Gonna try to get this moving. xD ]]

The sight of the pack's lands alone had been a welcoming one to the returning lyxxus, but to once again be walking around his home was a rather joyous feeling, perhaps the fact that he had just seen his brother again and would shortly be reunited with Reynard too was the main cause of that happiness, but Altan really didn't care. It was simply good to be back.
Having been born here, Altan certainly knew the lands well, though he couldn't help but steal glances at the familiar sights. He had no trouble following Nocht, and of course if not for the fact that the other lyxxus had a better idea of where to find Reynard, Altan wouldn't actually need his guidance at all. That thought had of course presented itself briefly to Altan, though he held his tongue. Perhaps if some stranger, a new member in the time Altan had been gone, had greeted him at the borders the sentence would have been spoken far sooner, twisted perhaps to announce that he knew more about the territory of the Children than them.
"I'm sure Reynard will be along soon. Are you hungry at all?" The slight difference was noticeable to him, which was of course was also surprising in itself; Altan had actually paid attention to someone? This was his brother though, and he'd probably have needed to be completely ignorant not to notice that he was speaking more. "No, I'm alright thanks." He perhaps could have done with something to eat, a proper rest after his travels but Altan was ignoring that for now, he'd see Reynard first.

He would never be at one-hundred percent due to his age, but the pain and bruises from the calagris had all been healed. The cold, on the other hand, made his aging joints ache a little, but nothing he couldn't handle. His pelt was not as shiny as it used to be, but it was still healthy enough. His wings, though well groomed, were not of use to him. The only true reminder of his almost deadly encounter, was the clawed scar over his right eye. What once was a beautiful blue eye, was clouded white, almost completely blind. It would only be a matter of time before it just gave up trying to work. He only had one good eye now, and he had not dared to risk flight.
His black ears flickered as he head a familiar howl. His son, Nocht. A small smile creased his gray-peppered, black maw. It didn't sound like he was too far away, be began walking, his long legs carrying his lean body toward the howls. It didn't take long to find the lyxxus. As he came over a slight hill, he saw not one but two lyxxus males. Both her recognized instantly. A happy laugh escaped his red-orange chest as he called to them, "My, my who do we have here?" He stepped carefully down the hill and moved to meet his sons.
He bent his neck down to nuzzle a greeting to Nocht and Altan in turn. His white tipped tail whipped back and forth happily. It was uplifting to see both of the brothers together. "Altan, good to have you back...now both my eldest sons are here. Makes an old wolf glad to see the future of the pack together again." It did seem to lift a burden off of him. The near death encounter had made him realize that he was not much longer for the world. Halcyon and Blaise were not old enough to take over the pack for at least two years. And Yueh was even older than Reynard.
He looked at both of them, "When did you guys meet up? Are you hungry? Let's head back to the dens to catch up." Forever the doting father, he did not care how old his boys were, he would still try to care for them. Nocht had been a great help the last couple months in the pack, Reynard wanted to make sure he felt appreciated and needed.

[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy]Nocht didn't find it particularly disconcerting that the clearing seemed to be empty. The pups were growing older and as such Tinka and Rora were not confined to their dens. They were probably out adventuring and teaching the pups now. There was probably some food around here as well, and when Altan said he wasn't hungry Nocht shrugged a little bit and waited. He was trying to be friendly and brotherly, but it was fairly intermittent. Soon though a familiar face appeared from over a hill and Nocht's lips twitched in the formation of a small smile. Reynard was here, and though he was older, greyer and more beat up, he was still the only wolf he would ever call dad.
He headed down to greet them and even though the smile could not manifest itself properly on the lyxxus' face, his twin tails wagging couldn't hide his delight. He rose, moving forward to greet Reynard, nuzzling him back in greeting and letting his father focus most of his attention on Altan. It was he who had just returned, not Nocht. The pride swelled in his chest when Reynard spoke of his two eldest sons. He had been worried when Reynard had his own children that he would be disregarded as his son, but even with this, his father still held them in high esteem and loved them truly. It spoke measures about Reynard's own character, and Nocht knew that he would do anything for the aging keiyou.
What Reynard spoke next though was bit of a surprise. The future of the pack? He had to take a look at Altan to see how his brother registered this. Surely Reynard was just being friendly. He had two of his own sons now, and though they were just pups, they had the rightful claim of the pack, did they not? He said nothing though; if anyone was to voice a concern or question it would be Altan.
Again, Reynard was speaking and so Nocht took the backseat. Altan was far more comfortable being sociable than Nocht, so it was only natural for him to speak first. Nocht nodded though at the suggestion, looking to Altan for his next move.

Fortunately that first matter of importance would happen very shortly with the familiar form of Reynard coming into view. The wide grin spread immediately across his features, eager to see the keiyou's response to his return, in that cheerful mood he luckily didn't consider the fact that with actual pups of his own, Altan and Nocht didn't matter as much; it would have apparently been a ridiculous thought with Reynard clearly as happy to see the pair of them.
Now although not the most observant of wolves, Altan probably would have needed to be blind to notice the change in Reynard's physical state. The smile dropped and his tails came to a halt as he caught sight of his father's scarred eye. Age naturally took its toll on some wolves, not that Altan had ever once considered Reynard to be old, this mark however was clearly one that had been inflicted somehow upon him. Why hadn't Nocht mentioned that?
"My, my who do we have here?" Altan greeted him in return, though some of that joy had certainly faded now replaced by concern. "Altan, good to have you back...now both my eldest sons are here. Makes an old wolf glad to see the future of the pack together again." Discussing what Reynard had meant by the future of the pack comment wasn't really a topic for that moment, not that Altan had actually picked up on the oddity of it just yet, instead still wondering what had happened. A brief greeting was sounded first though; "Good to be back."
Then his gaze shifted back to his brother as the questioning started. "You mentioned pups, the new allies but not this?" He wasn't really angry with Nocht though, simply shocked. He didn't wait for any kind of response though, looking back to Reynard again. "What happened? Are you alright?" Well he was certainly moving around ok and seemed happy enough but it still seemed like the right question to ask all the same.
"When did you guys meet up? Are you hungry? Let's head back to the dens to catch up." There was that question again though right now it held less importance than when Nocht had asked it. "Not long ago, I've only just gotten back." He responded, answering the first question before the rest. "And alright then. I'm ok, food can wait."

Sure they were not truly his blood sons, but they had been two of the three reasons that he took over the pack in the first place. Becoming a god father and a father near to the same time had made him reevaluate his life style as well as the state of the pack. They gave him the courage he needed to step into the paw prints that Draugur had left behind.
He took a step back and looked at both of them, "Let me take a look at you boys...you guys grew up so fast, it's hard to think that you were once so small and helpless." He gave them a good hearted grin, he found it odd that he was being so nostalgic, but it was not every day that all three of his eldest children where around at the same time. With five new little ones running around, it was all about putting things in perspective.
When Altan looked at him with concern, his grin fell only slightly. He gave a half-hearted chuckle at it, "We had a bit of a run in with a rouge calagris a few months back. Nothing that your ol' man and the pack couldn't take care of. " He just sugar coated the whole thing. It had been dangerous and he had almost lost his life, but no need to worry Altan about the past, if he wanted details he could ask Nocht. It was time to catch up and get reacquainted.
He maneuvered his long legs so he came between the brothers flank to flank. He opened his wings as if he were putting arms around the their shoulders to usher them toward the den site. "Did Nocht tell you that you have little brothers and sisters now?" He was a proud father, but he at least hoped that Altan would not hold it against him that he had not only impregnated his own mate, but also the boy's mother. "Tell me about your travels, too!" He began walking, gently whisking them along with his great wings.

This was another day like the rest. The pups were once again restless, and would do nearly anything to get out of the cozy den. Aurora, however, was a cautious/worried mother that would rather them stay within her sight in the safety of the den. But you cannot keep pups locked away like that. If there's someway to get away, they will. It helped that Aurora had hardly any other distractions, so she was able to keep a closer eye on her young daughters. They were over half a year old now. She attempted to stay with them as long as possible, seeing as soon they would no longer need her. How the time seemed to fly!
She also knew that soon she would have to make plans to visit Reynard and Satinka. It had been long enough that this dispute over Rey had went on, and it was time to end. Besides, not having her adopted daughter beside her every step of the way made her feel incomplete. They were a mated pair now. It was only appropriate for her to think of Reynard as a son, rather than a lover. She shuddered at the thought, thinking of it like that. Satinka was her adopted daughter, and was mated with Rey. That doesn't technically make Rey her son, but close enough to be disturbing. She pushed the annoying thought aside. She had hoped to rear her pups alongside Tinka's, though time was quickly running out. Would she even accept her apology? The lyxxus sighed heavily before focusing on her daughter Alla again.
Alla was a lively one, that was sure. Always very curious and stubborn. Her dark red pelt reminded Aurora of Nocht slightly. Though not only her pelt was like Nocht---Alla's stubborn but loving personality seemed to mirror his as well. Naomi, the more calm and innocent of the two, was back with the dens. Aurora had decided to allow Naomi to stay with the sitter, because it was hard to handle them both at once. Plus Naomi was the smaller pup, and Aurora constantly worried about her. What if she was to get injured, and Aurora couldn't call on the Great Spirit to help her in healing?
Aurora shook her head as she walked. How did I ever get stuck with all this drama in my life, she wondered silently. "Mama! Mama! What's this?" Alla asked, pointing a paw at a brightly colored animal that Aurora had never seen before. The thing looked tense, nearly ready to strike at her curious pup. Fortunately, Aurora was old enough to know that bright colors in nature didn't equal goodness. "Oh! Back away from that Alla, you'll get hurt!" The mother quickly ushered the pup onward, glad the animal hadn't struck just yet.
Aurora stopped and took a break beside one of the sunbathing rocks. The sun was shining through the leaves of the trees, and although it's rays weren't directly on her, she felt herself getting warmer on the cold Winter day. "What's wrong, Mom?" the pup asked, coming to a halt beside her. "Nothing, just resting for a few moments . ." Aurora gently nudged the pup closer to her, snuggling into her warm fur.
OOC: Promised I'd post. . . but sorry for the low quality! >.< Gotta start somewhere, though, right?
Thanks to Who, for the table!
