Reynard groaned uncomfortably as he shifted in his dark den. He hated behind confined to his den...he hated being weak and soar and bruised. He just wanted to get out and go for a walk without his mate, kids or pack mates raising a fit about him moving. To say he was stir crazy was an understatement. He couldn't sit still. He needed to get up and move.
Carefully he sat up, easing his aging body. Gingerly he set his right forepaw down, testing it. It had been broken, the shoulder of that leg dislocated. It still hurt, but now it was a dull, nagging pain instead of the paralyzing pain when it was first fixed. Opting to go easy, he set his left forepaw down and eased up onto all fours. He unfolded his stiff, left wing, which had also been broken in the fight. It was healed, but it would be a while before he could safely fly. He snorted at that thought. He might never be able to fly safely again. The right side of his face was ornamented with pink scars that raked across his eye, which was partially clouded. He was mostly blind in that eye now. Flying would be a challenge for the rest of his life.
His lion-thin tail flicked in agitation, his dark ears folded on is head. He hated the idea of being crippled, it was a bitter taste in mouth, it had made his mood sour. He needed some sun, maybe that would ease his depression and help him look on the sparkly side of life. He was alive, and mostly well. His family safe from a predator. His pack loyal and protective. It was those thoughts that he forced into his head. He had to remain strong, despite his age and injuries.
Quietly as he was able, he crept out of his den. He hoped everyone would be attending their own duties, so no one would be around to nanny him back into the den. The reddish-orange male moved out of the den toward some flat rocks that sat in the sun of the forest. It was a good sunbathing rock, one of the reasons he chose the den site for himself and family. He shook out his musty pelt, he needed a bath. He gingerly stepped up onto the rocks and stretched out his long, lanky limbs.

Careful, careful, Aur reminded herself. You're hurt, you cannot simply walk away.
Wincing, Aureia made light steps through the Children territory. She'd been here before, and loved the scenery. She could feel the dirty, cold blood smearing itself over her normally white coat. She didn't want to look, and she didn't need to. Halfway dragging herself, and halfway limping, she kept to the outskirts of the land.
But where was she to go? Her final destination was unknown, for she had not been in the lands enough to know which way to go, only where she was at the time.
All of it seemed to fade now as the pain started to increase. "Damn animal!" She cursed under her breath. Who knew white stag could be so dangerous? She took a deep breath, falling onto the crisp grass. No, I can't give up, not yet.
If you give up, you could be with Mikao, her own mind countered. No, no! He wouldn't want that! He'd want me to live, and to live a full and experienced life!
Stubbornly she dragged her heavy body closer into the lands. She wasn't sure if anyone would help, but she'd heard the Children were known for their magic healing abilities. Still, she was a loner, why would they help her?
The aching in her paws became unbearable, and she had to rest. She'd hardly been watching where she was going, as pathetic as it was. Warily she raised her head, only to see a den more than a few feet away. She didn't see anyone out, and then again her vision was becoming blurry. Her eyes fluttered, and suddenly the area twisted into someone she knew--"Mikao?" She asked, personally knowing it was too good to be true.

A leisure day would do her some good, give her a chance to rest her muscles for once. Besides, they still ached in certain areas when it came to the injuries she had received from Ebony some time ago. On the left side of her face, practically all the fur was missing, and there were numerous random scars dotted along her scarlet pelt, touching occasionally on the burnt coloration of her spine and head, but never the white of all four paws. The eyelashes on her left eye had grown back in full, but the scars still remained. Not that she minded anymore. She was proud of each mark on her pelt, knowing that it represented many things about her.
Moonrose yawned from where she laid at the edge of her den, staring blankly at the snow in front of her. There was not a very thick sheet of it within the forest, but there were still patches here and there. It was enough for those rowdy pups to play in. She smiled at the thought of them. Oh, how she loved to watch over them when their mother needed a moment to spare for herself. She could make no complaint about them. They were obnoxious and hyper, but so was she when she was little. They would grow good personalities when they got older, so she had no problem with them now. Not to mention the fact that they loved her to death, so things fit together well.
Movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention and she lifted her gaze to see Reynard, the pack's leader, walk past. Well, it was more along the lines that he limped past. She perked an eyebrow at his form, frowning. He was still injured, wasn't he? Then, what was he doing out of his den? Well, she was not his mother and she really had no right (in any sense for that matter) to tell him what to do. She sighed lightly, her breath revealed in a light puff of mist as she exhaled. It was not that cold out to her, for her winter coat grew in relatively quick, but she couldn't say that for everyone else. Winter affected each wolf differently, leaving her to wonder how Reynard was feeling with his wounds.
Perhaps I should at least check up on him. I haven't spoken within him one on one in a long while. Whether Reynard wanted the company or not, she was at least going to make sure he was feeling well enough to be out and about as he was. She stood up and arched her back to stretch out her muscles. She left her den and padded silently after the male as he disappeared into the forest. She did not announce her presence as she walked, feeling no need to. It was not as though she was intended on killing the male while he was weak. No, she just wanted to be sure that he was all right. After all, she was a Guardian, and it was her job to protect the pack, no matter who was in it.
Moonrose entered the clearing after he had taken to one of the sunbathing rocks, coughing a bit to announce herself as she made way to the front of Reynard. "Hello, Reynard. I heard of the accident. I hope you are well. You're son, too." For the moment, it was all she could say to start a conversation without being offensive. Silence enveloped her ears, before another presence was brought into existence. She turned her head, finding an unfamiliar female standing there, injured. Her eyes narrowed and she stood defiantly, acting as a type of block. "You are trespassing, stranger. Are you injured?" Her tone was monotonous, showing no concern for the stranger, but she was cautious.

It was the good kind of pain though, stretching out the cramps and getting blood flowing to the stiff joints. His thin tail flickered back and forth as he positioned himself. His dept perception was off, due to his wounded eye. His ears twitched at each little sound. He was a little paranoid in his weakened state. His cowardice from his youth was lifting it's head once more, self-preservation. But this time it was for the benefit of his family and pack, not just himself as it had been for so long.
He turned his head quickly at the sound of Moonrose's approach. He flinched in pain as his shoulder vehemently protested such fast movement. He grunted a little in discomfort. "I'm still alive, Moorose....I suppose that is better than nothing. My son is safe and the pack remains intact. " He gave a slight smirk at the irony. Mentally he was well, physically not so much. His olfactories picked up the scent of blood. Did he have another open wound? No. It wasn't his blood, his wounds, though tender, were at least healed up.
He followed the gaze of the lyxxus. A loner? This deep in the packlands. Damn. He needed to get out of the den and start his patrols again. He was slightly irked at the Guardians for allowing this to happen. Yet, the scars on Moonrose's head had been a reminder to him that they did fight for him. The territory was too large for every square inch to be monitored. This lupus, at least he assumed she was a lupus, may have just been lucky enough to slip by. Well, not so lucky it seemed. She was severely wounded.
He forced himself gingerly to his feet. He was quite a bit taller than Moonrose, his tail raised up to show his rank and he did his best to look as alpha as possible, despite his bruised body. "It is unwise to venture so far into a packs territory. However....you are wounded and we have the means to remedy that. " He wanted to be open to potential new members, however he wanted the thinly veiled threat to stand.

Her mind began to swim, making it impossible to focus on anything other than the faint reminder of her dearly beloved (and deceased) lover.
Her ears pricked at the sound of others. She was feeling a bit dizzy, possibly from the loss of blood. She couldn't really see them well, only scent them out. They were near here. She could sense their caution, and hear the slight aggression in their tone.
The male was right, it was unwise to come here. Though where else was she to go? She was about on her death bed, far from her home.
What home?
She lived anywhere she could stay. A loner, as she was, she hardly ever stayed in one spot. She feared if she did, her former pack would find her after all these years and give her the killing blow that they delivered to Mikao. "H-how," she began, ignoring their menacing tones, "how far am I?"
Despite her usual, the injuries to her right side and shoulders seemed to change her coldness into desperation. She couldn't seem to scare these two off, nor did she want to. After all, Reynard, if she caught his name correctly, said they would remedy her wounds. "The-the Children . . . . . They have healers?" she asked, her eyes fluttering again, seeing nothing but black. For once in her life, she thought she knew how the wolf of her old pack did, the blind one--before they were seen as a weakness and eliminated. She wondered if she would stay like this, even if the Children did have means to help.
Reluctantly, she attempted to stand. The pain ran up her legs, feeling as though she was on fire. She winced; could her legs be broken as well? She was able to take it for a moment. "I am Aureia. . . . . C-cael. I mean n-no h-h-harm to you, or your pack," she muttered breathlessly.
Her traitorous legs gave way, leaving her collapsed on the cold ground. Giving up, she lied in the same position, not even attempting to move. Her body was stinging from the cold, but there was nothing she could do. She knew she was dying. If she tried hard enough, she could almost hear the voice of him. Mikao . . .

Though she had sort of taken the morning to herself to allow some relaxation, she felt a slight irritation grab at her chest, reminding her that her duties were more important. Here this loner was intruding upon the pack's space. However, she felt some sort of pity for her, yet not quite that emotion, for she despised pity. The female was injured and she was clearly delirious, meaning there was a great chance she had not realized she had stumbled upon the territory. Regardless, the Lyxxus had a job to do and she was not about to show herself as a slacker to anyone, especially not to her leader. He was injured and she'd fight to make sure that did not happen again.
"You are exceedingly close to the pack camp. I suggest you remain where you are." Her voice was a borderline growl as she lowered her head and stalked a few feet away, providing herself as a block between the wolf and the camp. She was positive it was unnecessary, considering the stranger's state, but she was not taking any chances. There could be someone else with her, someone who wanted to make a fight out of this. Her sapphire eyes glinted in the light, keeping them trained on the bloodied form of the female. "Yes, there are healers here. Where did you come from?"
More and more she was beginning to doubt the threat that this harmless thing could be, but the scent and sight of blood always made her think differently, especially with the memories it brought up. Images of that massive pack tearing hers limb from limb flashed through her mind and she regretted for an instant how she greeted the injured female. She shook it off, knowing there was no time for any of that now and it was far too late to take it back. Aureia? A Cael? She had met a Cael once and she had been kind. From what she knew, Cael were truly harmless creatures, but that didn't mean much.
Moonrose watched the female collapse and blinked once, rising from her defensive position. Without looking at her leader, she spoke, "She is of no threat to us..." Her voice was gentle as she said it, not challenging him. She stared at the female laying on the ground and immediately thought of infection. She concentrated and lifted the body about an inch or two off the ground. Easy stuff compared to what she could do. The Guardian remained in her spot. "What are your wishes, Reynard? Surely we cannot leave her to die." Yes, they could, but that didn't mean that's what was going to happen.

A cael. It was hard for him not to be biased a against cael, but he would not let it show on his gray peppered face. Before he could form an answer to anything that was going on, she collapsed. His ears twitched as he looked at the Guardian next to him. Her questions were not answered either.
He was a bit surprised when the cael floated. He looked at Moonrose, he was trying to remember if she had any sort of power. he glanced between them, she seemed to calm about it, surely she knew what was going on. He didn't want to look foolish, so he kept his mouth shut on the matter. He cleared his throat and settled his bony hips back into a sitting position. "No....she isn't a threat. However she is in need..."
He glanced around the clearing. Surely one of the healers was near by. "We should take care of her. We can't leave her to die on our doorstep. Take her to one of the vacant dens on away from the rest of the pack. I'll call for a healer." He took a deep breath and pointed his nose to the sky, his howl was this:
"ATTENTION HEALERS. YOU ARE NEEDED AT THE DENS!"
He tried to convey both command and urgency to his howl, he only hoped that they didn't assume it was him that needed healing. He had had enough of that for the past few weeks.

She thought with such fierce temper it honestly surprised her. Satinka was high above the ground and valley beneath her, searching for the tell tale black wings that would lead her to her mate, who would be in for the yelling of a lifetime when she found him. He was not nearly well enough to be out and about, especially alone, what if one of his injuries acted up? Who would be there to heal him? Her mind was stretched in several different directions, between her pups, and Aurora’s two daughters most of the pack had their hands full, she knew other females were either pregnant and had given birth as well so they were not the only little ones, but the more little ones they had, the more eyes had to be around to watch them. She was thankful for Nocht and Moonrose who had more than risen to the occasion to watch them so she could continue caring for the pack’s welfare, particularly her mate. Her brown hawk wings stretched and flapped as she rode the currents glaring down from above.
She just couldn’t believe all that had been happening these past few months, first her heartbreak over Aurora having pups, becoming a mother herself, now an attack on her mate and son’s life, Satinka’s head spun with all the seemingly bad luck that she kept on having. Perhaps she had been right, wherever she went, trouble seemed to never be too far behind her, maybe if she left Reynard would live to be even older than he was now, he would live to see his children live to adulthood, because at the rate they were going, he might not be around to see what fine, strapping sons he would have, and what wonderful, willed daughters they would become. Her heart softened slightly at the thought of her pups, and how independent they were already, seemingly only needing her when they were injured, and in the mood for cuddling against the cold or darkness. Soon she would not be needed by them anymore then how needed she was by the rest of the pack, and her stomach lurched, perhaps she could talk to Reynard about another litter…when he was more healed. In her heart of hearts she wanted as much of him as she could have.
If the only way she could keep him close in the end was through his legacy then that is exactly what she would do. She knew Rey loved her, and he loved their children, while he might have felt stretched between all his offspring, Tinka felt as though only her pups needed and wanted her. She and Nocht had a tenuous relationship, she had practically adopted Moon, Angel while lovely and nice she was sure did not see her as a mother figure and Tinka was always one to need a purpose. Which would bring her thoughts back to why she was flying through the sky on a mission to find a missing patient. With winter, herbal healing was not as possible as using her powers, so she would suffer from exhaustion even as she made it possible for their wounds to be healed. Sky blue eyes darted back and forth as she searched, a deep frown creasing her pretty maw as she made silent threats and promises of what she would do to the burnt, black winged stubborn, sneaky mate she had when she found him.
Sure enough though his call would find her before she found him, and her position automatically went for a landing, she barrel rolled, and turned the position of her wings so that she would descent to the earth at a fast rate. It would be during her descent, that Moonrose’s bright, radiant pelt came into view next to Reynard and the body of another wolf who seemed to be laying in front of them. Curious, she continued to descend until she had to “pull up” figuratively speaking, straightening her body to stunt the speed slightly, and began flapping her wings furiously to bring her down to the earth in a gentle swoop instead of a crash landing. As soon as her ivory and silver paws touched the ground she was glaring at her mate, and took a breath to say just what he was going to do when she realized that he had called for healers, and not help……Curious she took a few cautious steps forward, her long tail lashing against the air behind her, the tuft of hair whishing back and forth.
She kept walking but stopped in front of Reynard her eyes glaring into his, regardless of him losing his sight in one eye he would be able to see the look in her eyes as she stared at him. In a silent moment between them she mentally screamed all the things she wanted to say to him, how worried she had been, how dare he defy her and go outside with his injuries, he could have gotten sick, and caught his death before she could help, the list went on and on. She snorted and huffed lightly before turning to Moonrose and smiling at her with all the love and compassion a mother could show a daughter whom she was proud of. Then she finally turned to the body of the wolf in front of her, heat still rose from her body, but she did not smell like pack. It did not matter much considering her mate had called for those who could heal, and so without wasting a moment, not wanting to see the smaller beauty die she called up the powers that were within to bring healing to her body.
The fractures, and sprains within her body would be seen as healed and new, and so they would begin to reform within the wolf’s body. For once it would be a good thing she was not conscious. Blood would begin to form and flow through her body in more of an abundance to cushion bruised muscles and various other injuries. Satinka continued with her duty to see the wolf before her as whole as she could make her before her vision began to cloud with black dots, and then the tunnel began, knowing that her own passing out would do no good for the situation she let the power recede and pushed herself with physical force until she sat back on her haunches heavily and took a deep breath, looking up at the sky for the long moments to come that it would take to regain her own sense of center and self.
[[Figured Moonrose really can’t move a cael to the dens, so Tinka to the rescue!]][/scrolly]

((Chess: Moonie has Telekinesis xD))
She nodded, sitting in mere silence for a few moments as her leader called out to any of the healers that were nearby. She hoped one would get here soon, because this female clearly needed one. The fiery colored Lyxxus put more focus into her thoughts and moved the female slowly beside her, watching her float a few inches off the ground as she led her towards the dens. While she did have control over most of her power, there were times when it would fail on her. Her best chance at the moment was to move slowly and carefully to the dens so that she could get the Cael there in order to rest. She couldn't really remember where any of the empty dens were, so she would have to scent them out carefully before stepping into one.
Moonrose felt herself stop at the ever growing presence of flapping wings. She turned her head just in time to watch Satinka, her adopted mother, land on the ground. The Guardian felt herself inwardly wince at the glare she gave her mate, and she had a feeling that Satinka was going to be nowhere near happy with her love. At the smile she was given, Moonrose returned it with the joy of a daughter. There were no words she could say to express her love for the female. She had done so much for her, particularly had saved her life when she returned after her attack with Ebony. She remembered that day clearly, because it was the first time she had met the beautiful Keiyou. She appreciated her with every inch of her being.
"Tinka, lovely as ever." She stated simply, moving aside to allow the female to see the Cael. She watched that familiar expression settle on the Keiyou, then saw as she healed the out cold Cael. This was something she wished she had: healing. Her power was useful for fighting, sure, but often times she wished she could heal rather than protect. However, she was proud of the fact that she was a capable fighter. She was able to protect her pack. Through training hard she had reached her physical capabilities. Through training hard she had reached the capabilities with her power. It was not yet mastered, but that would come with time as well.
Moonrose felt herself tense when Satinka rested on her haunches heavily and for a moment she feared the female would black out. Stepping closer, the Lyxxus nuzzled her shoulder. "Don't strain too much." She whispered, pulling her head back. Pausing a moment, she glanced between the out cold Cael and Reynard. "I can still take her to the dens if you wish." They could leave her where she was until she woke, but it wouldn't be hospitable. At least she wouldn't die, bleed out. That was the one thing the Guardian was afraid of. Not being able to save someone was the one thing she disliked most. She was no healer, but she could save people in her own way.

However, he flinched away from the look Satinka gave him. Why was she mad? We was literally yards away from their den. He could almost see it from where he was standing. He enjoyed sunning himself on these rocks over here.....he had to hide a pout. He carefully moved out of her way, gingerly stepping so as not to hurt his healing body. The amount of blood that was spilled from the female made him question if she was going to survive.
He wanted to thank his mate for coming to help, only then did he realize why he got that look she gave him. She thought he was calling for help for himself. In that past few weeks he had done that once or twice when an injury reopened, despite the loving attentions of his mate. Suddenly he felt guilty for making her worry. At the same time he became worried because he knew how much it took out of her to heal. His mate was overworking herself in his eyes, she needed a break.
He heard Moonrose greet Satinka and then he became aware once more that she had asked him a question. "Yes...to one of the empty dens. I can walk alongside if I need too." He didn't want to interrupt Tinka's concentration, but at the same time he didn't want her to pass out. He carefully walked p and nudged her wing, "Don't over do it, Tinka. I'm not sure if she is going to make it as it is....." His scared face took a grim look as he gazed at the mauled cael. It gave him a certain chill. He was in that bad of shape not long ago. He only survived because of his pack.....this wolf was a loner though....would she pull though this?

(OOC: Sorry for posting out of order, though I think Cy has a fine point. So I'll go ahead and wrap this up for Aur. Feel free to carry on afterword :D ..And sorry for low quality. I've never played a dying wolf before.)
Everything was still a blur. She could feel something tugging her back into consciousness. Still, though, it was peaceful here. The young cael could feel an even better side of life from behind the 'curtain.' She couldn't see it, as it was all darkness. She knew she wasn't dead yet, but was faced with a dilemma.
She could feel his presence around. Mikao's presence. It seemed to be beckoning her. But to where? She couldn't see anything. She could hear the others' voices. They were bringing her back, but she wasn't so sure she wanted to go back.
All she had in her life was one full of misery at best. Having lost her mate at a younger age, she had nothing to look forward to but a life alone. All she ever did was roam the lands, doing nothing but trying to survive. All those years she'd thought that Mikao wanted her to make it through; but what about now? He couldn't possibly blame her for dying, if she did, because it wasn't necessarily her fault.
This was her dilemma. Right now she had a choice. She could return to the living, perhaps horrified to what she might see, or allow the light, the only light she could see now, swallow her whole. What lied behind it? Aureia, she heard. In her minds eye she could make out Mikao's form. Whether she was hallucinating, or the Great Spirit was calling her away, she gave in. .
She was gone.

She and Nocht had always had a…tentative relationship since the first time they had met and even though it was on good terms now, things were still and most likely always would be on the fence. Moon however had come to her, in her most motherly of times to pour out her soul to her in many ways. The Queen would never forget that moment and everything that had followed. She trusted the warrior with the lives of her pups and even now she could hear their tiny voices crying out to be watched by Moon. She was amazed that the Guardian had time to play sitter to her pups and still do her duties for the pack but here she was, at her mate’s side watching out for any intruder. Although the female in front of her seemed like no threat whatsoever, sometimes it was better to be on the safer side of things than to be bitten when you turn your back.
“Thank you Moonrose, I see your strength has carried you here as always to make sure we are safe…” Her eyes were warm with pride for the younger female, and she could see, even with the scars on her body that she was developing in to quite the female. She would say nothing, knowing how she felt about the marks she had obtained in the line of duty for her pack but soon she would know that she was desirable regardless of those marks, Tinka was sure of it. Even when she felt as empty and hollow as some of the trees around herself, and her vision began to spot she heard Moon lean in and tell her not to strain, but Tinka had no choice. She was a healer, what kind of healer and mother would she be if she could not heal a wounded wolf in front of her. It mattered not if she were pack but that she was damaged, broken, and lying before her. Tinka’s resolve as a healer kicked in and she glared down at the ground, wondering just how much she had helped and wanting to push herself even further to bring life to this poor female. She listened as Moon offered to still take her to the dens and Tinka raised on her paws to walk there as well, she wouldn’t just leave the female to die, if she could just find the right herbs to mix with her powers…she just knew…she couldn’t let her die….Let alone did Tinka know that for some, death was a welcome release from the hell of living.
When her mate nudged her and told her not to over do it, as he was not sure she would make it…Satinka glared at him for a moment..”What good am I if I can’t save her?” If she were a lesser wolf she would have spat at him what good he would be if he couldn’t fly…but she was simply not that cruel, and she could never be, not to the one she loved with all her heart. She stubbornly stood there awaiting the action that would come when she reached out once more with her ability to heal, trying to at least bring her back enough so that she would know she wasn’t alone. But when she tried to visualize her being well and whole again, all she felt in return was a light going dimmer and dimmer. Her claws scratched into the ground as she mentally began to scream, ‘No! No! Don’t go…’ It didn’t matter that this female was a loner and had no one, in fact that made it worse. The muscles in her shoulders tightened, her wings pulled in tightly against herself, as though she could hold and comfort herself from the pain she knew was coming.
Soon enough the ribs of the female stopped moving, and death overcame her. Every animal knew the familiar scent of death, and it only became more permeating over time, but at first it was just a smell that lingered over the body, and when she saw that her body no longer moved with breath Satinka’s breath surged out from her own muzzle as though she had been holding it. “No….” Yet another loss, something that she could have prevented, something she should have prevented. In a flash reel across her eyes she saw every painful moment of her life up until the near loss of her mate, to now losing this female to death. As a healer, death was not always the inevitable, it was a foe to be fought, and most of the time she felt as though she had won, but not today. Today this poor smaller Cael had been ripped right out from under her and Tinka’s eyes clouded with pain.
As a last show of respect, and mourning for the defeat of her own powers, as well as the wolf in front of her’s bow to death she tilted her head back and howled long and hard against the sky. If nothing else, in this moment she would be remembered and respected. The sound of her voice would never be musical like a Cael’s but the howl was not altogether unpleasant, simply sad. Her ears pinned against her skull and her eyes closed for a long moment, even as the howl ended she kept her face tilted up to the sky before she opened her eyes to see the open sky in front of her. More than anything she wanted to run and fly away into the sky away from the body in front of her, but the time when she could run away and not deal with things ended when she became Reynard’s mate, and Queen to his pack, and the mother of his pups. She turned her head back down to look at the orange and black lanky male at her side, but she said nothing, taken over by silence at her own defeat.
[[Sorry its depressing, kind of a mood/muse thing..>.>]][/scrolly]

Your eyes As we said our goodbyes Can't get them out of my mind And I find I can't hide From your eyes The ones that took me by surprise The night you came into my life Where there's moonlight I see your eyes
