Sunchaser could not wait till spring. This was her third day being apart of the Children and she was so happy to have found a pack. She had met a few wolves and hoped to meet some more as the time went off. She always enjoyed spring more the winter, probably because she could get more food in the spring. Of course she was gaining her weight and strength back as each day went on and each good meal. It seemed she was a better hunter when she had a warm place to sleep and had enjoyed a few good birds as well as some deer. Right now she was chopping on a jackalope that had wandered right into her den looking for warmth. It had pretty much fallen into her jaws.
She nibbled on the still warm creature as she looked outside her little den, seeing wolves move around and wondering if she should go out and say hello. As she had food she was comfortable and didn't want to move. Tearing at the jackalope she continued to watch those outside her den. She really did need to start introducing herself more. However she was scared that she wouldn't be accepted by the other alpha of the pack or the ones she hadn't met. She sighed softly, and tore up the rest of the meat, moving what she didn't eat to the side of her den for later. Standing up she moved out of her den and stretched her back, growling softly as she stretched.
Brown bodice moved forward, wings extended before closing to her body. She looked around, wondering who she should talk to first. She was very shy being used to only herself, she didn't know how to introduce herself first. So because she didn't know what to do she sat down in the cold with her head lowered as she tried to get up the courage to say hello. All of the wolves she had met so far where very nice, and she hoped everyone in the pack was nice. [style=][/style]

The earthen walls kept them safe and warm against the elements. Reynard rolled to his belly and yawned. He glanced over his sleeping family, glad that they were all happy and healthy. He stretched his large black wings, easing them open to get blood flowing again. Slowly and quietly, he stood, though his popping a creaking joints seemed to echo. He winced a little, hoping he didn't disturb the rest. He was healed finally from the calagris encounter, so he had started more of his duties again, patrolling the territory and the like. He was now mostly blind in his right eye, the great scar across his face had damaged him in more than just sight. His wings had healed, but he didn't know if he would ever be able to use them again.
His stomach growled, so he put his worries aside to go satiate his hunger. He stepped out into the sun light and shook out his pelt. With a great yawn he finished his wake up procedure. He blinked in the sun and headed toward the more common area of the pack dens. His long legs carried him over the fresh snow. He sniffed around for one of the food caches that had been created specifically for winter. In his younger days he had caches like this hidden all over the pack lands. He would have to reinstate that habit again, just in case.
He pawed at the partially frozen ground, churning the soil and revealing a half eaten bird. He pulled it out carefully and cleaned off the dirt and ice from the flesh and feathers. He didn't care it was cold, he just needed breakfast. He picked it up once cleaned, recovered the hole and walked toward one of his favorite sunbathing rocks to enjoy his meal. As he ate, he watched the comings and goings of the pack in the morning. His eyes moved toward an unfamiliar kieyou. He raised a brow and gestured with his head for her to come over and join him.

Sunchaser saw a male come out of the den and go to one of the food caches. She chuckled to herself for she was still getting used to how this pack worked. Well she was getting used to how any pack worked. She took her time to look over the male, noting the scars and thew newly healed wings. Sun had seen calagris attacks before and she knew that, that is what happened when things went wrong. But at least things did not turn fatal.
As she watched him he looked at her and motioned her over. Her body jumped a bit with surprise as he motioned to her. Nodding her head slightly she moved forward threw the snow, taking each step delicately for she did not want to get colder then she already was. Her body trembled slightly for she had heard descriptions of the high chief and knew that this was him.
After moving near him she sat down, her tail wagging slightly with excitement for meeting him. She looked at him with her blue eyes wondering why he had chosen to say hello. She truthfully just figured it was because she was new and hadn't met him yet. This was only her third day in the pack after all. Finally getting up the courage to speak she smiled at him."Hello."

His hind legs were out to the side a little as he chewed upon his meal. He waited for the keiyou female to come up to him to take a seat. He stopped gnawing, licked his black lips and peered curiously up at her. He didn't get up, showing how confident he was that she would not harm him, despite being unfamiliar with her. He looked her over briefly with his good eye before speaking, "I can't say I know who you are. But I assume one of my Guardian's allowed you into the pack?"
He glanced over his own body, then looked at her with a sly smile "Sorry I'm not getting up, but it takes a while these days. What's your name?" He also wanted the name of the wolf that let her into the pack. He was not angry, he just wanted to see who had listened to him when he said that the Guardians could bring wolves into the pack. He had been out of commission for some months, so he had been unable to patrol for loners while den-ridden.
He decided to introduce himself as well, she seemed to know who he was already, but he figured being polite never really hurt. "I'm Reynard, the High Chief and leader of the Children. I'm glad to see that even in this bitter winter we are able to bring fresh young blood into the pack." His oily voice may have made that statement seem suggestive, however he was genuinely happy that there was still recruitment going on even if he was not in charge of it at the moment.

The female smiled softly at the male who didnt move. She had no intention of harming, heck she was glad to meet him. "Conerion meet me on the outskirts of the pack and called Yueh who let me in as a Guardian." Yes she was proud that she was a Guardian even if only for the last couple of days. When he spoke agian her tail countinued to wag as her wings settled better on her back. "I am Sunchaser." She grinned feeling like a pup as she looked at him.
Her ears cocked as she listened to him . "I am glad to have met you Reynard. I was wondering when i would have a chance to talk to you face to face. At least to say hello. " She shifted slightly in the snow, before laying down next to the male. Even if she had a alpha personality she did not want to test her new alpha by being higher then him. She did not know how strict he was with the alpha rules so she figured if she was at least his height it wouldnt be as if she was looking down on him.
She looked around before turning her attention back on him. "How big was the Calagris?" She figured that the creature was gone but she was curious to know about it. Hopefully the male wouldn't be to upset with her for asking about the attack. Sunchaser just had a natural curiousity and sometimes it got her into a whole lot of trouble. Her last encounter with a Calagris was when she was a loner. No others had been around her and she had escaped just barely. That was pretty much cause of the fact she slept in trees usually. At least she did before she came to this place. Now she slept in her Den. But if she had not been in the tree and mostly awake she would not be here.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/ReynardSoarTableMid.png]The male gave her a good long looking over as she explained dutifully how she had come to be in his ranks. He was glad to hear the Conerion and Yueh were keeping the membership flowing in the pack. He had since promoted Conerion for his valiant fighting against the great beast that almost took Reynard and his young son out of the world. He bent his head and continued eating, crunching a few small bones as they came.
He swallowed and looked back at her, "A guardian eh? I trust Yueh and Con explained your duties? I would advise you find a partner in patrols once you start tracking the borders. We have had...problems with loners and rouges as of late. As well as roving predators. Safety in numbers, you understand." He chuckled a little at the irony, maybe he should start taking a guard with him as he began to get back out there in the territory, reaffirming his status. He did not say anything against her laying near him. He could tell, however by how she held herself that she may have had some leadership roles in the past.
"It's good to meet you, Sunchaser. Tell me about your past...you hold yourself more confidently than most wolves. Have you lead before?" He wasn't threatened, just curious more than anything. He wanted to make sure that his pack had strong leaders. He and Yueh were getting old, Conerion was not far behind them. He had been considering the future of his pack a lot more lately, especially since he had become bedridden. His children would need a strong foundation to stand on if they wanted to keep their hold on the Valley for many generations to come.
He took a few more moments to chew on his mostly frozen breakfast. On occasion his gums or tongue would get nicked by a icy shard of bone, but he ignored any discomforts. Lately he had more to worry about than a bleeding gum. He could not help but chuckle when she decided to bring up the savage beast that almost rendered the pack leaderless. "Ah....it's hard to say. He must have been at least 600 pounds. He his like a rock-slide and had the temper of a rutting moose. As far as I could tell he was young and headstrong and had it out for my kids." He shifted to one of his hips to lay in a more lounging position rather than sphinx.
He pawed his breakfast as he pondered any other details about the animal, "A shame you were not hear a few weeks ago, we had calargis meat last up until then. He may have done a number on me, but at least he helped my pack through the first part of the winter. " It was a bittersweet revelation, but at least he was alive now and his pack was thriving despite it being in the middle of the winter.
