Verboten’s eyes peered off into the distance, her eyes sad and dark with emotions. Her red pelt was thick, full, and winter-style, keeping her warmth in. The shade had darkened a bit with the emergence of her full winter coat, and she glanced down in distaste. It looked like blood, dried blood. Her face turned away and Verboten shook her head, rolling her eyes up to the heavens. Apparently she was the toy the Great Spirit turned to when it was bored.
Suddenly, with an almost frightening clarity, as she thought of the Great Spirit, the Voice returned. Its tone was irritating, as if the appearance of it wasn’t bad enough.
So, you escaped the ordeal unscathed? its acid tone sarcastic.
From none of your help, it seems. You got me into that mess, and I had to nearly die to get out of it, you sick bastard. What is your problem? Are you that entity everyone believes controls the universe, or some figment of my imagination? Her questions received no response, and the Voice was quiet.
I’m whoever you want me to be, It responded, the Voice seeming to turn to dust and ash, flying away with a sharp gust of wind. Verboten sighed, once again the Voice was there, and always it seemed, would it haunt her steps. Her reddish-brown face turned as she observed the terrain beneath her feet and before her. She was at the edge of something, and she thought back to the Empire and her ‘vacation.’ Needing some time to herself, she’d snuck off; they had not paid much attention to her small self leaving anyway, so Verboten had decided a nice, cool and rocky climate to up her muscles and stamina would be a good vacationing spot, especially since the views were spectacular. Of course, the fear of heights sort of conflicted with that desire, and she’d spent the first day and a half hyperventilating at the edge of an ice-cliff, and then in her makeshift den. Verboten had passed out once or twice.
She’d returned not long after to discover a sad sight—while she was gone, the Empire had dispersed, the winds, snow, and herd scents eliminating the once only partially stale pack scent. Her scent had been washed from the muddy terrain like her pelt was washed by herself every morning. Dejectedly, she had returned to the south, seeing if a good pack resided here. A few loners had pointed her in the direction of the pack called ‘The Children of Hitter Airy’ or some such thing, and she’d decided to check them out. A pack could always easily be left, and so Verboten yawned as she searched the land. It was dotted with trees, but mostly made of brown and gold grasses, the stalks of flowers dead from the winter, and the bare trees providing no shelter from the elements.
Verboten sighed, rising to her well-worn paws, than trotted up to gently sloping hill, crunching lightly through the grasses on a mission. Her trespassing was normally allowed when she told them of her wish to join.
“Hello? Hello there?” She called her ears forward in an attempt to catch every sound. A murder of crows startled up, screeching up and outward on midnight black wings, there raucous screams echoing in her ears.

Cresent sighed as she gently walked through the meadow, almost glad to be back in these pack lands. Even though it was still winter, she liked the familiar surroundings. Thankfully she knew that the cold season was nearing an end, it must be, it had been snowing for so long now, it must stop sooner or later.
The Lyxxus sighed and kept walking through the odd meadow, it felt as it she was slipping from the land form, perhaps it was named properly for this, she didn't know. Her ears perked up when she heard someone say something, was there someone else here? Her curiosity peaking, Cresent crouched down a bit and snuck around the area until she had found a bright orange wolf, another lyxxus.
Cresent smiled with glee, maybe this was another wolf in the Children's pack! She knew that there must be more than the few she had already met, and of course, she wanted to meet more. She stopped crouching and went up to her full height and walked to the wolf. "Hello there, I'm Cresent, are you a part of this pack?" She said, clearly and confidently.
But then her paranoia started kicking in, what if this wolf wasn't part of the Children, what if she was a spy? Cresent tried not to show any signs of suspicion, but needed to know more. "What's your name?" She gently walked in a circle around the female lyxxus, and stopped at her tails. "Ah, so you're four? Ha, you're my age!"
She jumped in glee about this, she could definitely make friends with this wolf, of course, if she wasn't hostile. "Oh my, well you seem tired, don't you? Where did you travel from...? No matter, you need to rest, lie down or something and maybe I can get a healer or nurse...or someone to help, I'm not too qualified for these matters."
Cresent chucked to herself and continued. "You see, I'm a sitter in this pack, so I get to watch over the little ones that are born! Its a pretty exciting job, watching those cute balls of fur running around..." She sighed in contentment, happy about the new wolf she had just met, but still a bit on edge with the hostile theory. She decided to let her guard down just a little, this wolf was a lyxxus after all, and the species wasn't very well known for strength of all things.
"So, if you happen to not be part of the Children, were you planning to join?"

A rather slim, golden-brown and orange wolf bounded from the stand of the trees, walking around Verboten with enthusiasm. Another lyxxus, she noted by the four tails, a year younger then herself and female. A smile was on the other wolf’s face as she gushed and babbled, and Verboten caught the questions to answer. A young, bouncy, pretty wolf; she called herself Crescent and asked about Verboten’s self. About to reply, the wolf continued and she shut her reddish-brown maw for a moment, waiting for her turn.
“Rather talkative, aren’t we?” She chuckled, a smile on her face. Another lyxxus she could handle. “That’s okay, madam. My name’s Verboten, and I’m afraid am I’m not part of ‘this’ pack. Quite the opposite. I come from up north, from the Empire—have you heard of that?—rather large pack, full of Yagi and on the tundra. They dissolved, though, while I was away; and I heard of the pack here… Hitter Airy or some such name. For the life of me I can’t get my tongue around it. ’Specially since the loners are missing a tooth or two, and slur it a bit. I’m also afraid, madam, that I’m not your age at all. Actually I’m five, but the tails are going to split soon,” Verboten confided with a cursory glance at the four swaying red objects. “I’m fine, miss, really. I’ve lived through the winter on bones ‘gifted’ from those green and brown Yagi’s, that’s sort of why I left. To see my options. And to be honest, this place seems interesting, but I know nothing other than the fact that here is a pack called some exotic name.” Verboten answered all her questions simply, with at least conflicting and confusing life detail as possible. She wasn’t going to say the things from her birthplace, and her whole life history. She was answering the questions given to her. And now she had some questions of her own.
“So, Crescent is it? What kind of pack is this? Are lyxxi like us not highly regarded, or mostly them? I smell the wind and sky and feathers, so I assume there to be Keiyou here. I scent wolf and feline mixed, so there is other lyxxi…” With a chuckle, Verboten concluded:
“I’ve got quite the nose, hmm?” Verboten’s face broke into a smile, kind and welcoming. “Perhaps you could take me to your Alpha, hmm?”
((ooc ; would you mind waiting, Cresent, until Reynard or Yueh reply...? Not trying to push, but I hope this’ll turn into a joining thread. :3))

Winter still had a vice grip in the east and the High Chief was feeling it more and more everyday. He still had not gained control of flight since his ordeal. His blind eye shone a cloudy blue, as his bright blue good eye scanned the terrain. He at least had the rest of his body back to normal. Well as normal as the nine year-old male could be given his age.
The reddish-orange male high stepped through the snow, his long black legs keeping him free from the frozen precipitation. His thin-white tipped tail whipped behind him casually. He was heading to the meadow to try his paw at flying again. Maybe this time he would not crash. The scar across his face was the only evidence now that he and his family had been attacked by the calagris. He came over a slight mound of snow and saw other orange creatures not to far away. he recognized the stripped lyxxus. But the plain patterned one was unfamiliar and his hackles rose. Cresent was not a guardian, she should not be allowing strangers into his pack land.
He partially opened his wings to help his balance as he moved to intercept, he scanned the situation, there didn't seem to be any aggression in the two wolves before him. He stood tall and lifted his tail to assert his dominance. "Is there a problem, Cresent?" He moved to stand by his pack member. "Who are you and why have you ventured so far into my pack unattended by my guardians?" He valued his Sitters highly, they took care of his children when his mate was unable to. To have a loner so close to one of his sitters made him uncomfortable.
He towered over the stranger and examined her very carefully. He wasn't being aggressive, but he was at least making sure the loner knew his status and his concerns. It was in this very meadow that he had been attacked and mortally wounded. His pack had been having run-ins with unsavory rogues more often. Perhaps she wanted to join, he would not deny her entrance to his pack, he just wanted answers. He glanced back at Cresent, waiting for her to explain things.

The Lyxxus smiled at the other and listened to her little tale, frowning a bit when she heard that she talked a lot. Well, it was sort of true, she guessed. "Ah, well nice to meet you 'formally' Verboten. Can I call you Verbo?" She smiled and began on new questions. "The Empire? Well no, I haven't heard of that. If its cold, I'll try to avoid it. I wasn't build very well for those kinds of climates, couldn't imagine living there, nevertheless having a pack in such a place."
She laughed up a storm when Verboten had said the pack name was 'Hitter Airy', well at least she was close. "No, no, its Hvítur Ári. Say it with me now, Hvítur Ári. Got it? Okay!" She nodded and continued with her replies, noticing she was indeed the talkative type. "Yagi?" She tried the word out, unfamiliar to her tongue. "Hmm, I haven't heard of such a species, it's only been a while since I arrived in these, well, not so new lands."
Cresent sighed and revisited her ordeal from her younger years. She shook her head, no time for that, there is a visitor of some sort here, no need to go into your little world, what's done is done. "Well, I haven't noticed any wolves who disregard our species, so I think that's a pretty good sign!" She exclaimed, knowing that there must be bigger stronger wolves than herself, who would more than likely take advantage of such a naturally small species.
"And yes, you do have quite the nose there!" When Cresent finished speaking *finally*, she was startled when the alpha appeared next to her, and nearly jerked away before she realized it was him. "Oh, umm, well there seems to be no problem at the moment, I was just walking along and I saw this wolf just there," She motioned to where the other Lyxxus stood. "Her name is Verboten, she's quite the kind gal actually, she hasn't shown any hostility towards me, so that's pretty good. She said she came from a pack called the Empire, up north from here."
"If I can just take a wild guess here, she told me that the Empire dissolved, perhaps she seeks refuge here?" She smiled at Verboten, hoping that her theory upon her arrival was correct. She then noticed briefly, when Reynard walked up to Verbo, that he had a scar of some sort across his face.
Cresent was shocked, who would try to attack the alpha? "Oh my goodness, how did you get that scar? Who attacked you?! Is there any way I could help..?" She was truly worried, hoping that he would fine regardless. "Do you have any other injuries?"
