From afar, you would never have noticed the lean Eremus slinking through the drying grasses. It rustled as if upset at the intrusion; there was no other sound or sight within range. Angular shoulders and protruding hips were just visible above the furred tips of foliage. An assertive shove of wind sent auburn seeds swirling about, forcing the flexible stems of the grass against the drying earth. Now, at last, we see the wolf in her entirety. Long, coarse fur, a color reminiscent of honeycomb speckled with the black rear ends of bees, is tossed around a thin frame. She is tall for an Eremus, though most of this height is derived from her slender limbs. Wide hooves blend in with the roots of the grass. A slender muzzle bends in toward a narrow chest against the wind; white-tipped ears and tail tucked away. As the gust passes she opens her hazelnut eyes. Hinotia is again enveloped in an endless world of silent feathers. The cold nibbles at her refined muzzle; The meak winter sun does little to counter the chill. A tiny imperfection in the ground catches a front hoof. The Eremus' spindly legs are easily tangled. She tastes the heady, metallic stench of blood. A small scrape has appeared just above the hoof; a bead of angry red bubbles through the abrasion. Hinotia gives an unconcerned lick at the scrape and settles down in the dry grass.

The wind rustling through her fur... it was nice. The plains were a strange place for a Lyxxus to travel, so Destiny kept low. Her scarlet color fur barely blended in with the yellow stalks of grass while she moved swiftly across the ground. It was slightly scary being out in the open. There was no cover other than the occasional tree here and there, and the small Lyxxus felt exposed. She looked behind herself to see the forest that she had just left. The trees there seemed to embrace her, promising to keep her safe and hidden from any dangers.
"Snap out of it," Destiny growled to herself, "There's nothing to be scared of out here. You can take care of yourself."
She quickened her pace, moving quickly and quietly across the plains. Her muzzle parted slighting, inhaling the scents all around her. She could taste the bland scent of the long stalks of grass, the sweet smell of the occasional prairie flower, and the smell of prey. Her mouth watered at the thought of catching a jackalope out here. Destiny peeped her head out of the ground cover, and looked in the direction of where she scented the jackalope. Her eyes narrowed, scanning the narrow horizon, until she spotted movement in the brush ahead. She scented the air again, and the taste of live jackalope flooded her senses.
Light on her feet, the Lyxxus made her way towards the brush where the jackalope lay hidden, careful not to stumble or trip across a random log or anything. It was a male; it's large horns extending towards the sky as it snuffled around the ground, probably looking for some flowers to eat. Destiny paused, holding her breath as the prey looked in her direction, eyes wide and ears perked. She shut her eyes closed, wishing that she could go invisible for just that moment. When she opened them again, the jackalope had turned around and begun his search for a plant to eat. Determination shining in her eyes, Destiny crept ever so slowly towards her future meal. The wind was on her side, blowing her scent away from the jackalope. Her heart thumped in her chest, her tail ready to balance herself for an easy pounce, and she tensed her muscles. The jackalope froze, seeming to know that it was in trouble...
And she lunged for it.
The jackalope let out a squeal of alarm and pain as Destiny's jaws clamped around it's neck. It thrashed in panic, trying to wrench itself from her jaws, and the Lyxxus bit down harder. She ducked as it's long sharp antlers came dangerously close to her eyes, and shook the piece of prey fiercely. The jackalope released a sharp exhale as it went limp in her jaws, and she gave a final bite around the neck to make sure it was dead. The warm scent of flesh and metallic scent of it's blood entered her mouth, and she dropped the catch.
She inhaled deeply, catching her breath, thankful that she didn't have to chase after the small prey. As she inhaled, she smelled something.... unfamiliar. Destiny's eyes widened and her muscles tensed as she recognized the scent of another wolf. She whipped around, scanning the vast prairie for the wolf, keeping low to the ground.
"Another creature isn't going to steal my kill from me," she growled, and rushed over to her catch, picking it up in her jaws.
There was a small prairie tree nearby and she hurried over it to. Destiny set the jackalope down and began digging a hole to bury the prey. It would hide the scent and the body itself from anything while she went to go look for that other wolf. As she placed the body in the hole, and covered it over with dirt, the Lyxxus wondered if it was a great idea to go in the direction of the wolf's scent. She was small, and for all she knew, it could be a huge wolf. However, her speed and agility made up for her size.
Destiny finished burying her kill, and scented the air again for the wolf. The smell was stronger, the wind blowing it's scent in her direction. She headed away from the tree and her beloved food and made her way into the long stalks of grass again. What was strange was that she smelled the faint metallic smell of blood. Was this wolf hurt?

The tang of blood invaded Hinotia's senses. This was not her own; the minuscule scrape on her ankle had already begun to dry. No, this blood reeked of the sickly sweet smell of prey. And then something else hit her. Something less sweet.
Outside of the band of wolves she was raised in, Hinotia had only ever seen another wolf once or twice. The concept, however foreign, held no fear for the Eremus; she was curious by nature. Thoughts of vicious rogues swirled like steam in her head. I blend in like a walking stick here, She thought. The wind may be working against me, but I can outrun him if he's bigger. She was not a small wolf by any means (She did, in fact, dwarf most of her family.) This height was almost entirely comprised of her limbs, making her lacking in brute strength. Still, these thoughts did not trouble her easy, deer-like gait as she moved in to investigate.
"Hello?" Hinotia's voice, weary from years of neglect, sounded hoarse and guttural. I hope he doesn't think I'm injured. Wouldn't want him to worry, now. The Eremus cleared her throat and repeated her greeting, which came out in a much more pleasant timbre. She caught a flash of electric red through the foliage. The wolf must be very close now.

"Hello?"
The Lyxxus paused where she was, muscles tensed and ready. Her plume of a tail swept slowly bath and forth across the grassy prairie ground. Her scarlet colored ears with black "burnt" tips were cocked forward, in tune with any noise around her. The voice sounded weary, and from the lightness of it, Destiny knew this was a she-wolf. Perhaps that would work in her favor, since she-wolves tended to be a bit more kind than male wolves. However, this time could be different.
The voice reminded Destiny of her long gone mother. Her mother's voice was not a precious thing to her, and only brought sad memories to her mind. Images flashed in front of her eyes of her nest-ridden mother, not even bothering to give desperately needed affection to her two pups. Blood roared in Destiny's ears, and her eyes started to well up in tears, but she blinked them away.
The voice called out again in a more cheerful manner, and the scarlet Lyxxus cleared her voice, as she stood up and padded towards the wolf.
She happened to catch a glimpse of her appearance. By the lengthy long stalks of legs, ending in hooves, Destiny could tell it was an Eremus. She had never met an Eremus, and her curiosity increased, but she kept back. Her whiskers quivered in anticipation and her tail tip flicked back and forth, blue cat-like eyes narrowing.
"Hey there," she called to the female Eremus, keeping the tone of her voice as friendly as possible. "I mean no harm. I'm just passing through... curious little me."
She stood still for a couple of moments, making sure to not come in close range with the Eremus. Destiny still wasn't sure if this she-wolf was dangerous or not, and didn't want to take any chances...

The radiantly red wolf stood before her. Curious, she said. Her species was unidentifiable to Hinotia. Stunning blue eyes smoldered against a pelt the color of blood. It was clear, though, that blood was not what this wolf was out for. She (the wolf was obviously a female) appeared curious, as she had stated. Well that makes two of us. I'm sorry if I interrupted your meal. As Hinotia studied the wolf further, she let her body language melt into a relaxed stance. They were about the same size, though Hinotia was just a bit taller. Her eyes really were beautiful, she thought. Blue as the eyes of a saint, with feline pupils. She found herself staring, and broke eye contact for fear of appearing threatening. She was anything but. The wolf was apparently a loner. Pack wolves, her mother had taught her, were hostile towards outsiders. They carried a collective scent in addition to their own. Hinotia had detected no scent markers, either. She was unsure of how to act around this new wolf. Could they be friends? Would the other wolf attack? Hinotia had lived in ignorance her whole life. Was that going to change?

Destiny shuffled awkwardly as the Eremus eyed her as if in thought. She cleared her throat, and stood up taller, trying the size of appearance. Her plume of a tail swished back and forth in a sweeping motion, making a light air current to keep herself cool out on the bare plains. The Lyxxus tilted her head slightly, and looked the other wolf up and down. She zoned out, and it took her a few moments to grasp reality again. Destiny had a tendency to zone out...
"Well that makes two of us. I'm sorry if I interrupted your meal."
The other she-wolf continued eyeing Destiny, but the way she relaxed herself made Destiny feel like the was in the presence of another friendly loner. "Oh no no," she stuttered, glancing down at her paws occasionally that shuffled the ground nervously. Grab ahold of yourself. You're acting like a pup who's never seen another living creature before. She exhaled sharply, and caught the Eremus's eyes. "You didn't interrupt anything. It's just that I tend to overreact if I smell another creature that I'm not familiar with, ya know? And then I might get all worked up... because I think they're going to hurt me... or still my prey, in this case. No no no, you didn't interrupt my meal, you're perfectly fine...."
Destiny forced a smile that broadened across her muzzle, hiding her inner shyness. Her embarrassment grew, as the she-wolf's eyes snapped away from her's. She realized that she had rambled on too long and probably scared the wolf a bit. The Lyxxus inhaled slowly and gulped down a breath of air, trying to dislodge the rock that seemed to be stuck in her throat. She then blinked quickly, her pupils turning into small slits while they adjusted to the sunlight.
Destiny smiled again, but it was different this time. She actually meant it. It was a way of asking for a silent friendship, a truce, between the two wolves. Her whiskers twitched a bit as she stumbled upon what to say.
"I... erm... yea... my name is Destiny."
She blinked, waiting for a harsh response from the other she-wolf. Wolves tended not to give their names away so quickly, and tended not to become so acquainted with one another. Some about this wolf was different though. By the way they were both relaxed in their body language, and the way they held eye contact for a few moments, Destiny knew that this wolf was not one of the vicious pack wolves. Those wolves would chase you out of their territory at the first scent of your pelt, and probably leave you with a few "beauty marks" to remember it by.
"Would you like a share of my fresh kill?"
Destiny's heart thumped inside her chest rapidly. What am I thinking?! First, I tell the random wolf my name, but now I'm offering her a share of my food?

OOC: I like Destiny's song Haha RP: This wolf was decidedly different, Hinotia thought. As she rambled on, the Eremus gave a small continuous nod reminiscent of a bobble-head shaken by the slightest vibration to its world. The wolf radiated an uneasy friendliness, though an instinctive suspicion still hardened her clear blue irises. "I... erm... yea... my name is Destiny." The name suited her, she thought. "I'm Hinotia." The she-wolf said in the only way she knew how: Without hostility, but also flat and distant. Her voice was stiff and creaky, and likely always would be. Hinotia doubted the odds of the Lyxxus and herself sticking together. This was, pathetic as it sounded, precisely what Hinotia was hoping for. The wolf was seven years old, and still living in the ignorance of puphood. Hinotia's stomach growled audibly. "Sh-share your food? With me?" Do loners do that? ... Is that something loners do? If you are a loner, of course... She felt she was making an even bigger fool of herself and stopped to wait for Destiny's reply. As odd as the Eremus was, she could tell that this wolf was different, too. She wondered of her origins. Was she pack-born? Or, like herself, was she a true loner? There was an obvious film of sadness draped over the Lyxxus. Why, though, would have to wait.

Creature Classification: Averra Size: 72 '', 130 lbs
The dry winter wind made the switch grass cover quiver and bend in response, adding a sense of serenity. However to the golden eyed bird that walked through it seemed determined to disrupt such a peaceful day. He was 6 feet tall, with bold black feathers that ruffled against the wind. Upon his head was a bright red crest of feathers, smoothed back against his head. His sharp eyes had detected movement from many yards away, he was curious and hungry. He could smell blood on the wind and was planning to go take it for himself.
His long, scaly legs carried his 130 pound body over the grass. The sharp blades of grass did little to deter his advance. He cooed a little in anticipation, his toothed beak clicking as if to prepare for the meal he would squander. Once he got closer he could see two wolves near the morsel of food. A tall-ish wolf and a small wolf with many tails. He hissed in frustration, he didn't want to work too hard for this meal, if at all.
He came closer and slowly the crest on his head raised, giving him an imperial look that dared the wolves to do anything about his presence there. He outweighed the two of them combined easily. One well placed kick from his clawed feet could serve bodily harm, or even cripple the smaller wolves. As he got closer he cawed out to them with a weird shrieking hiss. He lowered his head and gaped his razor beak as he stamped his powerful feet in an attempt to intimidate them off the kill. Sure it was only a jackalope, but any kill he didn't have to make for himself was a win. Then again....he could attempt to kill the wolves and eat them as well.

"Sh-share your food? With me? Is that something loners do? If you are a loner, of course..."
Destiny gulped in embarrassment, hanging her head. The she-wolf probably thought she was stupid, offering her food so easily like that. What had even influenced her to ask such a strange question? Maybe the loneliness was getting to her finally. Living alone almost all of her life was probably starting to change the Lyxxus completely. She twitched her whiskers and heaved a sigh. "Um, yea.. share my food," she muttered solemnly. "I'm not sure if loners do... but it just seemed like a question to ask at the time. I am a loner, yes."
She winced, waiting for the Eremus's reply, and her paws seemed to flex in anticipation. However, another scent drifted her way, and she froze. It was a scent she was not familiar with, but it's prey-like stench made her wonder what it was. The scarlet Lyxxus turned around and gasped in horror, as a humungous bird-like creature stood in front of her.
It had the beak of a bird, but it was tipped with small razor sharp teeth has it hissed at both Destiny and Hinotia. It's neck was thin and snake like, making the bird look taller than it probably was, and let it's gaze loom over the two she-wolves. The wings of this flightless bird were enormous, and were rested to the side's of the birds even bigger sized body. The creature let out a fearsome screech, and Destiny tilted her ears back to muffle the noise of the sound.
She could feel a growl rising in her throat, as the bird glanced towards her piece of prey. Destiny slowly took a few paces back, tails whipping back and forth, and shoulders hunched over in an aggressive position. This stupid bird wasn't about to steal the prey that she worked for, and it better not even try to touch her. The she-wolf knew that it was either fight or flight in this circumstance, and she glanced behind her at Hinotia. Her icy blue eyes read what she was thinking.
Fight.
But then a feeling of doubt crossed her mind. This bird was huge; she had never encountered anything like it before. Then again, she had never had to fight another creature bigger than her, other than the occasional rude wolf. Destiny didn't know what this creature was, what it would do to her, or even how strong or fast it was. Is it a good choice to fight this thing? If Hinotia decided to fight it with her, just to keep a piece of prey, it would still be two wolves against one big bird. However, they were both particularly small in size, and this creature seemed to loom over the both of them.
A clawed foot stamped right in front of Destiny, and she barked in anger, slashing out at it. Her pupils were narrow slits now, and they glinted with aggression. Her blood pumped through her veins, and she could feel the beating of her heart in her chest. A faint breeze blew across the plains, and Destiny slowly took one paw step towards the bird. Her muzzle parted in a snarl, revealing her large canines. Her three scarlet tails seemed to lash so quickly as if they fire.
"Bring it on, pest."

I'm sorry, I've made you feel awkward, haven't I? Hinotia apologized. She was just about to take her up on the offer when something- she wasn't quite sure what- appeared behind Destiny. Some sort of bird. Whatever it was, it towered over the two words. Hinotia made no sound, but slid up next to the Lyxxus. The beast's scaly, taloned foot lashed out. Destiny barked indignantly, but still seemed unsure of how to react to the much larger animal. Hinotia instinctively sized it up. It was easily bigger than the two she-wolves combined. Beak like a meat cleaver: sharp and intimidating. Deceivingly thin scaly legs with powerful-looking feet. Hinotia imagined those talons ripping through her muscle... Bring it on, pest. Destiny muttered. She looked ready to fight, but was that really the best decision? The lyxxus had her pride at stake, for sure; she was defending her kill. The two could conceal themselves in the grass, but the towering bird would likely be able to see over the foliage. There was no visible shelter. They would have to fight, she decided. Come on! She called to Destiny. Her muscles bunched as she sank back on her hips. Her deer-like hooves propelled her up to the bird's level, and she opened her jaws wide, aiming straight for the beast's neck.

The bird screamed at the defiance in the wolves. His voice reverberating across the plains. It was just one jackalope. Surely they valued their lives more than a kill? It would have been easy for them to run off. Hell, part of being a big scavenger was having the muscle and presence to chase something away, eat and run. Yes, he was confident in his skills to kill his own prey, but why waste precious energy?
Foolish. That's what these wolves were in his less developed mind. He had no way of understanding the strange growling speech they had, all he could gain from the body language and stances was that they were not backing down. Well. It was their funeral then.
Undeterred by the snarls of the pitifully small wolf, the giant carnivorous bird stepped forward. By stamping his powerful feet he indicated what he was capable of. He was a predator. He wanted the food set before him. He lifted his head a little higher, out of striking range.
The larger wolf, the one with hooves, was the first to act against his presence aggressively. He screeched in rage, turning his neck and body away from the jaws. He used his momentum to slap at the wolf with an over sized wing in an attempt to deflect the trajectory. He stepped forward again, hissing and snapping his jaws together in a mechanical sound to show that this was his last non-verbal warning: Step away from the food and no one gets hurt.

"Come on!"
Destiny icy blue eyes followed Hinotia as the lithe she-wolf basically flew towards the bird, her thin but powerful legs propelling her forward. There was no going back now; the wolves made their first move. The creature let out another screech in defiance and easily dodged Hinotia attack, then quickly lashed out with its outstretched wing. The lyxxus ignored its loud hissing and shrieks, and typically found it quite annoying. Her muscles rippled under her pelt as she propelled herself towards the bird...
Time slowed, and Destiny's thoughts wandered:
I'm not doing this for the small piece of prey... I'm doing this for another wolf. I value every life in this world, and if a life is threatened, that bothers me. I will not stand by and do nothing for something that threatens me and another creature. We don't even know each other, but that's beside the point. She willingly put her life at stake just for a piece of prey, and that's all that matters. I'm willing to help another wolf out, and maybe a future friend.
The shrieking of the raging bird brought her back to reality, and she sped underneath it's scaly legs. The pest probably thought she was puny compared to itself, but it was horribly wrong. Her speed was all that mattered in this circumstance, and she would use it to destroy the monster's weak spots. Her eyes flashed it's long legs as she sped underneath the enormous bird. Legs were really helpful for an animal to survive, and without them, that animal would be doomed to live a life without mobility, or die. Careful of its thrashing wings, Destiny spun around on the other side of the bird, and launched herself up in the air to land on its back. Her size worked for her in this situation, not weighing the bird down one bit. Her claws unsheathed and she grabbed onto the back of the creature, her claws piercing layers of feathers until it finally reached flesh.
Hold on for dear life.
The lyxxus waited for the bird to thrash around to try and throw her off, and her claws curled into the bird's back to grab ahold of it. If it tried to smother her by rolling over, she would just jump out of the way as quickly as she possibly could. Destiny had all the outcomes of this fight in her head already, and she would always be a second ahead of the bird.
"Pick on someone your own size!" Destiny growled, and snapped at the back of the bird's neck with her sharp canines.
