The deep grass rustled in the wind. In all honestly the plains looked empty. Nothing made a sound. Too quiet. Prey animals felt the silent tension and glanced around nervously. Their little bodies dreading the day that a hunter would sink their claws into them. One bird braver than the others wandered too close to a patch of golden, dry grass, pecking and scratching at the ground for bugs. Ah, it was a little hunter. Still there was no mistaking what was to be played out here. The little bird did not realize that two golden eyes were watching it from the patch of grass.
In a blink of movement the lion myou sprang from the blades a mighty snarl on his determined face. Too late, a bird, was still a bird and Chasen was left to watch his prey fly away. A sneer fell on his face and he shook his mane. It was winter and it was more fluff like a real lions mane. Still the male was a wolf with lions colorings. Which in the plains was perfect he blended into the tall grass with ease if he stayed still.
'Use your elements to your advantage and you will succeed sixty-five percent of the time,' Chasen thought of his old master after that he had to ask his master why the low number which the old wolf simply responded, 'Because the older you get the higher the percent goes up. . . . Well unless you don't take the paths we do Chasen, then the number goes up and then goes back down. Your path though I feel you will be just like me one day. . . .'
Chasen snorted at the fond memory. Memories that made him stronger though it looked like he was still in the sixty fix percent chance of it working. What a waste. All the training in the world and he was still a loner, still not even a sparring partner, or any wolf to speak of really. He thought of all the wolves he had met and that was a slim number. The most awkward situation was seeing a Yagi a wolf MUCH larger than himself, in all aspects really. A perfect chance to test his skills. . . . Which he promptly lost and then was chased away. Seemed he had a long way to go before he could be called a master. He still was limping slightly from the yagi's bite on his back left paw. Still when a wolf lost he either learned or he died. Luckily for him he learned a bit of the yagi's fighting style. Throwing their weight around, he'd have to practice jumping and using speed to his advantage. If it was possible to do such. He wasn't a small wolf by standards. His size and strength greatly hindered his speed. He'd have to work on making himself faster if he was to succeed at winning a battle. . . . His stomach rumbled and for finding food.
The hungry part cause the lion to stir in it's mental cage. Wanting to take over the hunting part. Chasen inwardly told it to hush. He was looking and if he needed help he'd ask for it. It was a mental battle between the two souls sometimes all the time. He'd snarl at him to shut it and the lion would snarl back. Two predators sharing the same body was a hassle, at least one soul didn't really want to eat the other, well not really. The lion threatened and the wolf was the voice of reason and the lion would shut up. Chasen sighed and stopped to sniff the ground. In his internal conversation he'd ended up in a small clearing in the grasslands, a pool of water underneath a tree. This seemed like a good time as any to stop and take a drink.
Relaxing in the shade he bent down and lapped up the cool water. The only thing that would make this better was either a fight to calm the lion or for a stupid animal to fall over dead. One of the two would be fine. And hey if the other died while in a fight that would draw weaker animals to the scene and then Chasen could pick them off. Or maybe he'd get away from killing an opponent and spar and then they'd both go hunting. . . . He must have been getting light headed from lack of good food cause none of his thoughts after that made much sense.
