Nepara panted as she continued to run across the swamp, exploring all the hidden caverns and hiding places. She curved her body around a stray branch on a dying mangrove tree. It snapped under her weight as she plunged into the channels thrashing waters. "Eeep!" she struggled to free herself but her body was paralyzed and stuck coiled around the branch, keeping her from swimming properly to get to shore as the waters continued to gag and suffocate her tangled body.
"Someone! Anyone! Help! Please!" The distressed eremus cried out as the current carried her farther. She felt a thud as the branch caught onto a pair of nearby stones. She had some time now. But only so much before the branch would collapse into two and send her flying more.
"Ngh!" she hopelessly reached towards the shore closest but was still too far off to reach on her own. She heard a slight cracking as the branch started to give in. "Come on!" she coughed as the water pelted her from her exposed side. She flipped her blonde hair from her face to try and get a better view of the shore.
She smiled as her paws scraped at muddy earth, only to freeze with the sound of a snap. She frantically threw her paws towards land, hoping she could reach land before being sent on another water ride.

Revontulet padded through the swamp, giving a look of disgust as mud surrounded him. As a showman, he always liked to be clean and well kept, but the damp dirt that continued to cling to his legs prevented him from doing such. He hadn’t ventured into the Swamp lands before, but he figured he would have to eventually. With a flick of his tail, he continued on his way, examining all the life around him. There was a hidden beauty to the swamp, something that many took for granted. But not Revon, oh of course not. The magician had an eye for things that were unique and had great potential, and the Nanjiro Swamp was just that. Perhaps one day someone else will notice its subtle beauty as well and go and show the rest of the world all the wonder it has to offer. Maybe it’ll be him, the great Magician, Revontulet. The sennyo let out a laugh at the very notion. No, he was a traveler, an entertainer. The Swamp was not his place, not in his mind.
A waterway came into view, and Revon let out a loud huff. His paws were already dirtied, covered in soil and mud, there was no need to cause his body to grow damp with water. Jumping on a nearby log, he smiled in triumph, not only pleased to find an easier way to get through the Canal, but with its ability to hold sturdy as well. Balancing on the long, he gracefully carried on, making his way from one log to the next. Though, what caught his attention was the cries of another. What the hell? With furrowed brows, he followed from where the distant sounds were coming from. Picking up the pace, he rushed down the canal on whatever he could land himself on other than the water. Eventually, a figure came into view, and the pleas for help became loud and clear. Shit! Jumping over to the sturdy land that made up the shore of the swamp, he finally managed to meet the struggling wolf and before the stranger had the chance to slip away, he bent down to close his jaw around the other’s paw, pulling himself back more inland and dragging the distressed along with him.

It started to elongate but she focused all her strength on it to keep it from stretching out. She sighed as she was soon on dry ground again. "Thanks stranger, I dunno what I would've done had you not come along and saved me..." she blushed a bit, grateful that someone had helped her. She figured no one could hear her cries.
Now for the awkward moments, she laid there, her body still tightly wrapped around the branch as she sighed and giggled a bit. "You think you could help me?" The eremus tried to relax her muscles in hopes of coming looser and easier to pull away from the branch. She looked back up at her savior and felt the need for an introduction.
"I'm Nepara by the way, and whom do I have the pleasure of meeting?"
Her body slowly began to take it's natural shape again as the feeling came back to her limbs. Relieved, Nepara stretched and cracked her joints to help easy any other stiffness. The air was thick as the only other sounds were the chipping of baby birds and the rushing waters that had nearly swept her away.

When the senny saw that the stranger had managed get on solid land, he let go of her paw, taking several steps back to look over who he had just saved. Female, he observed. And eremus, judging by the hooves that replaced usual wolf paws. Her white pelt made a striking contrast to his vivid and colored one. When she offered her thanks, Revontulet simply inclined his head in acceptance. At the moment he could think of little words, and continued to eye the female before him. He didn’t save others often, hell, he doesn’t remember the last time he actually saved someone. Allowing the eremus to recollect herself, he turned away, noticing a fallen down tree covered in a thin layer moss several meters from the two and decided to take refuge on it. Lying down, he took the moment to collect himself as well. Keeping his head lifted and his eyes trained on the female, he kept silent for the time being.
When she asked for his help once more, Revon simply stayed where he was. Unmoving, brow arched, skeptical, and ridiculously curious he eyed the female. Edging closer to the eremus, he used his nose to push lightly at her limbs, and attempted to help the wolf untangle herself. Doing all he could, his brow furrowed as he took a step back, head tilted and watching her. Usually he’d keep up the chatter, refusing to stay silent but now... He wasn’t sure what he wanted to do right now. Part of him wanted to just walk away, carry on, and forget the little incident. But another part of him urged for him to stay. The eremus before him sparked interest and intrigue. Perhaps he’d stick around for awhile and see what she was like. There was no way he wanted to let her go, this strange... ability of hers. He hadn't seen anything like it before. Not in his trope of traveling gypsies or encounters with strange loners. No, he was going to stay around for sure, and he was going to learn more about her.
It wasn’t like he had anywhere to be, no job to do or show to perform. Before his thoughts could trail off any further, the stranger decided to speak up again. I'm Nepara by the way, and whom do I have the pleasure of meeting? Revon tilted his head, as if pondering how to answer the question. There was no harm in trying to make friends, right? Perhaps he’d take a stab at trying to win over this one... ”The Magician.” He answered with a flick of his tail, and a gentle flap of his wings. Revontulet kept his voice calm and collected, as if he wasn’t phased by the earlier happenings and the odd way the female was wrapped and entangled around the branch. He didn't want her to think of him as weak or a lightweight, so he kept his features slightly smug, if not emotionless. Turning his head, he looked up, staring into the air. After a moment of thinking and focusing, a butterfly materialized into view. The odd shimmer it gave off and it's colorful and translucent form something that was Revontulet's 'signature'. If Nepara had this ability of hers, who was he to deny her of the presence of his own.
Manipulating the strange illusion, the butterfly drifted down toward the two, coming toward the female. Aiming for her nose, just as it was about to land, the butterfly had fallen apart. What was once a flying creature had now turned into translucent dust. The moment the particles made contact with the earth, it disappeared, leaving no sign of its existence. Awaiting the Nepara’s response and reaction, he lowered his head to his paws, licking at them in attempts to get them clean, a devious smirk growing on his lips. If there was anything the magician hated most, it was being outperformed.

She had never met a wolf with such skill. And she thought this whole time the great spirits had only gifted her with an unusual talent. When it simply disappeared in front of her like that she squealed with joy as she finally got to her feet, able to control her proportions. Well... almost all of them. Her tail began to wag back and forth, it shifted left to right on the ground as it dragged heavy and lengthy behind her.
"Oops! I wish I lived longer like you sennyo did." she spun around to nip an itch on her large tail as it shrank suddenly to a stub. She sighed "Then I could easily have spare time to master this silly power of mine..." Giggling she noted how vibrant his pelt was compared to hers.
"The magician huh? Fancy title ya got!" she noted as she stood proudly beside him now. "I think maybe I should have a fancy name too! Like... uh... the extendo or something... eh maybe I should just stick with Nepara..."
"Man, how come I get stuck with a plain coat and you get such a dazzling one? Am I cursed? Not to mention I feel like I'm the last of my kind left..." she made her way back towards the stream as she laid down in front of it, peering into the cool liquid. "Have you seen many on your travels? Surely you have seen others like me... you do know what I am... right?" she got up and spun around to face him again, a hurt look in her eyes. She searched for belonging, though when left with nothing of your own kind but yourself, that made things pretty distant.

Revontulet’s ears perked up at the female’s reaction. Lifting his head to look back at her, he watched the way her limbs and appendages changes size. She was an odd being indeed, something that piqued his interest greatly. Revon would have to learn more about this ability of hers, whatever it was. The sennyo felt triumphant as he saw Nepara stare in awe, enjoying the sight of admiration. He always liked it when his little tricks brought a sense of happiness and joy to others. When he was much younger, still discovering who is was and the world as a whole, he felt useless, without purpose. The last in the small traveling show to discover their ability and power, young Revon spent the longest time feeling alone. But the moment he had discovered his true potential and what joy he could bring to others, he finally had a reason. It was something he would never grow tired of. But the words the eremus spoke next pulled at his heart. I wish I lived longer than you sennyo did, then I could easily have spare time to master this silly power of mine. No, too much time was awful. There were too many opportunities for heartbreak and pain. His time with Kylma taught him that.
Pushing the thoughts of his past and former lover aside, Revontulet turned his attention back to Nepara. With a mischievous smile, he got up, jumping off the fallen tree he took refuge on, and walked closer toward the female, examining her whilst still listening to her words. ”Ha! Fancy title? It is simply more than that, Madame. It is a name and lifestyle that defines.” Revon replied, circling her as he spoke. ”Though, why you would want to rid yourself of a beautiful name such as Nepara and hide it with another is simply beyond me.” he added. Flattery and comments of endearment, something he learned to use often as a showman. After walking around her in a complete circle once, he stopped to look at her face to face once more. Stormy grey eyes looked into striking blue ones. A smirk spread across his lips when he noted the contrast and difference in their pelts. ”But how could one not want a pelt such as yours? The purity it resembles, how it must make many and wolf melt in awe.” Of course Revon wasn’t a flirt, he had sworn off the thought of true love and romance the moment he moved on from Kylma. He had nothing against one night stands though, the sennyo knew that his type weren’t the monogamous sort, but he wasn’t looking for a hook up. Not with this one, at least. He just had a knack for saying things to make others feel better, to feel special and maybe even wanted.
When she inquired about her species and whether or not she was the last of her kind made his heart sink a little. He knew the feeling, the one that follows you constantly and screams at you words that make you feel so lost and alone. ”Why of course I have. I’ve traveled near and far, through many lands and many homes. Eremus, they call you, correct?” He replied. In all honesty, he never had an actual conversation with one of eremus blood before, though he stole quick glances in the many audiences he performed in front of. They weren’t incredibly common, he was aware of that, but he knew there were others. Though, their exact location was far beyond him.

She blushed a bit as she batted him with her tail that now elongated to normal size. "And if you feel that way about other names, why don't you use your real name? Certainly your parents didn't name you the magician when you were born?" she wondered, then again, who was to say they didn't? Maybe that was a weird thing sennyo's liked to do.
Her face lit up again at the mention of his travels and how he had seen other like her. She hoped he could help her find one of her own someday. She also wanted to see a kukkien. Now that she thought about it... "Hey, I don't suppose you have seen kukkien then too huh? I would love to see another eremus or kukkien... even if they.. weren't... real... it must be nice to imagine things and others see exactly what you imagine and how you imagined it. Were you born with your power like me?" more questions came as the perky little eremus cocked her head to one side in hopes he might have the answer she was looking for.
She sat now by the channel as she watched the birds cross above them and the soft murmur of the rushing water soothing her. She sighed contently, this was what life was about. Being able to relax and not worry about what was to happen tomorrow or what happened yesterday. Just living in the time now. She laid down again as she folded her paws over each other and rested her head on them. Allowing her mind and eyes to flutter around a complete stranger. She felt she could trust him enough. He seemed nice. "Don't let the past keep you from tomorrow but do not let tomorrow scare to forget today..." she smiled softly as she gazed over to him.

Revontulet let out a soft chuckle when he noticed the other blush at his words. Still got it. He mused, trying to not let his smugness get the best of him. The magician arched a delicate brow at the female’s response, not expecting on such as hers. He had an array of answers to choose from, though which one fit best he could not decide. I don’t use my real name because it is not the mask I put on myself day after day. He thought, a mental snicker following. Still, he remained silent for a moment, staring off into the distance absent mindedly. She had yet to gain his trust, and to let her see behind the act was something Revon had no intention of allowing. Very few ever had the chance to witness Revontulet for who he was, and if the eremus intended on befriending him, it would take time for her to be one of those few.
”Because a magician never reveals his secrets. And my name is exactly such; a secret.” He answered, that same devious smirk from before spreading across his lips again. He watched as her face lit up at the mention of his travels and wanderings, glad that his words brought her comfort and hope. The sennyo barked out a laugh when Nepara inquired about kukkien, something he didn’t really expect. When others would question Revontulet, never would they ask about the short-lived yet beautiful species. Odd and strange this eremus was. He would have to keep her around for some time. ”Kukkien? Of course I have! What a gorgeous and wonderful lot they are. The life the grows and adorns their pelts, if only I could be half as lovely as they are.” Revon replied, another soft chuckle following.
The Magician tilted his head when he thought the female was suggesting that he perhaps create an illusion of a kukkien and eremus. Was this what she really wanted? Were you born with your power like me? His thoughts were cut off at her inquiry about his talent. Born with, blessed with, cursed with, only the Great Spirit knows. Revon suppressed the snicker at his thoughts. He never really thought of his gift as a curse, but rather a true blessing. But who knew, maybe there were others that thought of his power as something to be deemed witchcraft or of negative reasoning. ”Who said anything about a power? What if I was simply magnificent enough that the gods decided to smile upon me and make me into a new and different being, thus giving me this natural ability?” Revon teased, eyes glinting with amusement and mischief.
Following her to the edge where the land met the water, he sat down beside her, letting his gaze wander and take in the sight of nature before him. Revontulet tried not to scoff at the words she spoke, and decided to take a different route. ”Ah yes, never have there been words spoken any truer.” And suddenly, near the other side of the canal, a figure shimmered in the light. Translucent and of a green and soft violet hue, the illusion of a young female kukkien danced upon the waters, a trail of pale, clear dust following after her as she pranced about in mid air, barely above the surface of the water. Soon, just as the butterfly from earlier, the illusion disappeared and drifted apart as if like the leaves the blew and drifted in the air. He put on a small pained smile, as he watched the image fade away, not being able to help but grow reminded about his past lover once more.

Turning in a complete circle as she took in all the hidden beauty the swamp held. While facing away from him, she spoke calmly. "Ya know, the swamp really is a diamond in the rough. Only true artists can perceive it as it's natural form." She looked back and winked at the sennyo, only flirting back with him. She too having no sexual interest for him. They could possible make great friends.
"I had this great idea in mind, and I think a great magician is exactly what I need to help me get started..." she implied. The sennyo definitely held a special talent that he had years of experience over, whither the gods gifted him with or or he was blessed. "Ability then, I agree that to receive such gifts from above must mean a sign of something... maybe a responsibility to others to make them happy when they feel down. You follow me?" Nepara was just leading up to the final act of her idea.
The kukkien were indeed a price of beauty. To become so beautiful they were but fragments of time, lucky to live over 3 or 4 which neapra realized she was and could be dead now if she were kukkien born. How many kukkiens could this sennyo be then? "It must be hard to have so many a friend you outlive... I guess living long like that is not always a pleasure... but to think we could at least imprint on individuals today with the feeling to belong and the feeling to perform freely and openly..." She spun around to face him.
"A pack like no other, a pack that could progress through the swamp and bring life energy to wolves from outside. A pack full of blessed wolves either born into it or given upon age." Her eyes widened a bit as she panted with excitement. How would the magician feel about this idea?

Revontulet let out a soft chuckle when he noticed the other blush at his words. Still got it. Revontulet tilted his head as he noticed the eremus get up from the corner of his eye. He turned his head slightly, ears tuned in to listen to the words she spoke but his eyes were trained elsewhere, watching the ground and earth beneath him. ”The ability to see beauty in things society deems unworthy is not what makes a true artist. It’s what makes a being without ignorance the owner of an open mind, and with an open mind comes the true artist. The mindset is what you need.” He countered, his tone slightly somber. A scoff erupted from his maw, a smirk on his face as he heard the female’s words. Was she implying they work together? In all honesty, it sounded like she was just going to use him, and once she got whatever she wanted, he’d be left to fend for his own. He didn’t mind the idea of being abandoned, he had grown so used to living on his own. Though, the thought of being used only for the needs of others... it didn’t exactly rub him the right way.
Revontulet decided to brush her comment aside, only thinking that she was young and still had yet to understand the meaning of proper word choice. You follow me? The Magician gave an absent minded nod as he turned back out to the water. The words that Nepara spoke next caused him to tense. Foolish child, you have no understanding on what it’s like to be alive like I have. ‘Losing friends’ is nothing compared to the loss I have felt. He thought, his mental tone acid and ice cold. Still turned away from the eremus, he refrained from snapping back, a rude retort on the tip of his tongue. No. Control yourself, Revon. the senny scolded followed by a deep intake of air as if to calm himself down. If only his brother could see him now, the younger Zarki most likely ready to scoff and laugh in his face. What has he become? Has old age really taken quite the toll on his temper? Perhaps he was just in a foul mood from having to race down the Swamp’s Canal to save someone.
The sennyo barked out another laugh at Nepara’s words. She continued to talk about a pack with wolves of talent, and a swamp to call home. How childish and naive she seemed in the eyes of the aged soul. Maybe this was what he needed, someone with far too much innocence. Who was he to judge anyway? Often the Magician was a wolf full of joy and constant chatter, perhaps once his nerves calmed down and his temperament back to its normal state, he would have another listen at her words, but for now... For now it seemed like a silly dream. ”You speak with good morals, but Madame, perhaps a pack of that kind isn’t quite right yet. To sustain a pack such as the one you idolize would take many, many wolves with talent and abilities, and also a stable foundation.” Revon said, an apologetic smile on his lips. He hated to crush the dreams of others, for he was always taught to bring hope. ”But I’ll tell you what, once you find many others to join you, I will follow you down this path and help bring your dream to life.” Of course Revontulet wasn’t sure if he really would. He was a showman, a performer. Constantly traveling and without a permanent home. Was a pack really the proper place for a wolf such as him to belong to?

She had to admit, she was beginning to get the hang of this ability she had been given. She let his words sink in before continuing on with the conversation.
Not right yet? When would it be the right time? They were only going to grow older and weaker as the years grew on. So why not start while you were young? Nepara sighed with his realization that he maybe right. But his next words brought light back to her face. He would help her? That made her smile again.
"You know, if we make a pack... I will make it so we all can go and move as we please! It will be mondo cool!" Nepara told him with confidence. "As for other wolves, I know quite a few loners wandering around that have nothing better they are doing with their time. Maybe they would want to join our adventure to seek out a pack that is truly worth every glancing eye?" She stood again, too excited to sit still anymore, her tail wagging with excitment.

Watching as her eyes lit up, perhaps false hope wasn’t such a good idea to Revontulet anymore. But then again, rather false hope than no hope at all. To have someone reassure him when he was younger would have meant the world to him. He loved his brother and sisters, he really did, but he felt that they only really cared for him after the magician discovered his talent. For what seemed like forever to the younger version of himself, he was constantly looked down upon, degraded, and made a fool of. Yes, a sense of hope, even if it was false, wouldn’t have been so bad after all. Revon let his gaze flicker to the young eremus, watching her from the corner of his eye, and listening to her words. To have the pack move around from one place to another? Not entirely orthodox and something that didn’t seem like such a good idea to him. But she was young and lacked experience, and to see her life and dreams of a pack crash and burn into the ground... the very thought pulled at the magician’s heart. Perhaps he would stay and stick around when she had this pack of hers... help guide and offer advice and council. Though his life consisted of being a showman and performer, he had years and years of experience on him, and with that experience came some wisdom.
”Well I’d love to meet these loners you speak of. I’m sure if they are enough company for you, they must be quite the enjoyable lot.” Revontulet commented, offering a small smile as if to help lift her spirits. The idea of meeting other wolves was something the sennyo welcomed greatly. He longed to be social and have company, and loved to meet new people. Perhaps he could do a small act, maybe a short story? Oh how he yearned for the practice and chance to perform. The notion reminded him that he would have to seek out a pack to entertain soon, for he feared he was getting rusty. Large crowds always did him good and it never hurt to have many stroke his ego every now and then. As he noticed Nepara get up again and wag her tail in excitement, Revontulet lowered his head to his paws, more the the lax side of life currently. He lacked the joy and eagerness the eremus had currently, but one couldn’t blame him. Revon was simply having one of his lazy days, and was still slightly worn out from his minor saving earlier.
