How could she lead without a properly clear head? Since Acelan’s arrival into the pack she had begun to feel emotions that she had never even heard discussed in her life, and it had all supposed to be a mere business arrangement. However his company had begun to mesh well into her daily life and a comfortable companionship had evolved between the pair and her mind often wandered to thoughts of his handsome body and charming manners during the day. She could no longer deny that she rather fancied the male and she began to imagine what his fur would feel like pressed up against her own, his rough tongue upon her cheek and his body heat ever so close…These heated thoughts brought a blush to her pale cheeks and she quickly glanced around to see if anyone had seen, luckily she was rather quite alone.
It was beginning to be simply too much, she needed other council to clear her head, a friend with whom to converse and relax and she knew just the wolf to answer the call. Moving up the shores of the rushing rapids she sat on a clear outcrop, the ground miraculously dry from the late afternoon sun that came pooling upon it through the thick forest canopy above. Raising her head she let out a strong call, more of an invitation, asking if her friend should like to meet her. She had not seen the wily lumen since the pack meeting and had not had the change to hold council with her in a while, yes, Evelyn was just the fellow female she needed to talk to. Keinvarii had been bearing the burden of her white lie to the pack for a while, but she had done it for their best interest and so far her decision had proved a wise one. No more trespassers had attempted to pierce the borders since his coming and her mind was at rest knowing there was another strong male to help Raynor regulate the pack’s defense.
Besides, his company had been a blessing from the Great Spirits for he had an uncanny ability to relax her after a long day patrolling through the territory, and she had to admit she was smitten with his fierce eyes. Acelan evoked an instinct older than time within her, and her step had an extra spring to it now, though she had not noticed this detail. A small smile of content rested upon her maw, she only wished she could convince the lumen of this given Acelan was a lupus. But had the pair not proven that their species could interact without qualms and fights? It had been done and differences could be breeched again, of this Keinvarii was certain. Perhaps she could confide her confusing feelings to the Lumen, she was sure that with many more years of experience Evelyn would know the proper course of action. Besides, when she and Acelan produced pups for the pack she wanted Evelyn as a godmother to the dears so that should anything happen to Keinvarii she knew the lumen would take good care of them.

The Lumen laid lazily on the branches of a massive tree, bathing in the patch of sunlight that was coming down upon her through the trees. Since the return of her beloved mate, Kainashi, she felt herself truly happy since moving from the Meadow to the Lake. It was a lovely place here, and she certainly felt it was best to have changed places for the better of the pack. To be honest, there would have been little to survive on with such a small pack and a tiny amount of food. She was glad to have moved, though it had pained her to leave the one place that she had found her most precious memories, especially in the Poppy Field.
Evelyn glanced up lazily with her crimson eyes as the call was put out to her and a wide grin moved to take over her muzzle happily. The Archduchess rolled to her feet and forced herself to go invisible for several purposes. Well, perhaps just one. She loved to surprise the wolves in this lovely pack and that included her very close friend and leader, Keinvarii. She padded silently through the grass and plants that dotted the forest floor, emerging through the bushes to find herself beside the river. The rapids rang loudly in her ears and she grinned when she spotted her friend near them, losing the invisibility that concealed her oh so well. The grin remained on her face as she leaped out towards her friend.
She greeted her beloved leader with a gently nuzzle to the shoulder and a lick to the cheek. "Stone, my beloved friend, what makes you bear such a content smile upon that pretty maw of yours?" Yes, the Lumen tended to notice things that most other did not happen to see. She rested her side against the Lupus and sat herself down upon the moist earth, awaiting an answer from one of the two she held so dear to her heart, something she rarely did with any living being.

In the trees above a woodpecker sat on a tree branch, carving holes in the flesh of the great structure as it continued its search for nourishment. The sound was oddly soothing to the Queen’s ears and she paused in her thoughts to allow the thick and humid scent of the forest to wash over her being; intense and aromatic it spoke of clean water and thick healthy foliage. This was her paradise, a large and mysterious forest populated by towering trees, thick and rich vegetation, wondrous creatures and dusted with the magical quality of the mists that rose from the deep waters of the crystaline lake. She was finding true happiness here and part of her believed that so in turn was the pack, she knew there was proper shelter here and an abundance of prey. The winter had been mild in this land, and the dense forest had protected them from any considerable cold. A sound alerted her to another’s presence and she glanced up to see Evelyn coming to join her side, immediately getting up with a friendly wag of her downy tail. The sight of her greatest friend always brought a smile to her maw and she stretched forward in a playful crouch, hindquarters raised as she barked a warm greeting. The nuzzle on her cheek and the solid feel of the Lumen’s pelt against her own was a grounder, she had missed the presence of her second and command, it was in this wolf that she placed the greatest level of her trust. Many would have scoffed had they learned that the lupus’ greatest friend and most trusted adviser was a lumen, by nature it was unlawful if not completely unnatural, but Keinvarii had not grown up being instructed about such matters, she knew very little about the hate or fear that could breed from one species to another. Perhaps this was a blessing as it allowed her to treat all with equal value and disregard for differences and it was on these foundations that the pack seemed to thrive. Part of her hoped that Magispar would understand, she knew not where the previous Alpha was, nor even if she lived, but Keinvarii did know she would try to keep her practices alive. Laughing kindheartedly she said, “It is just that things seem to have fallen into place so...nicely. I think the King and I may finally be connecting on a deeper level." That was certainly one way to put the matter, and the grin transformed into a light blush, that night had not been forgotten and part of her hoped there would be more. Her voracious hunger and periods of fatigue since then had evoked her curiosity, however when she had begun to very slowly gain weight in her mid section she had known like any mother instinctively did; she was pregnant. The weight gain was not terribly obvious, but still the Queen knew that the Alphas were now expecting and so she was going through most days with a content smile upon her maw. Already she was anticipating what she would call her pups, should she be gifted with a girl she would be name Aeslin, that much she had decided upon. It filled her with pride knowing that the pack would soon have heirs to continue on their legacy, and she sighed contently, turning to look into her friend’s eyes, “That and I am pregnant.” She held her breath, wondering how Evelyn would take her unexpected news.
