[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/ReynardSoarTableMid.png] The afternoon was pleasantly warm. Spring was well on it's way and the land was alive with new life. He had already seen a number of levretts poking their small heads above the sweet grasses before running off to their mothers burrows. Rabbit flesh was sweet and stringy, but he wasn't really here to hunt today. He was observing the bounty of his land. Most of the animals had a successful breeding year from what he could tell. His ever growing pack would feed well enough this year.
The tall, lean old male perched himself on the highest rock in the slipping meadow. it was a modest enough rock, but enough for him to get a vantage point. His orange-red fur ruffled in the breeze, his grey peppered maw was parted to increase his scent intake ratio. The hares, rabbits and jackalopes had already birthed their litters. He had seen a few fox families milling on the edges of the forests. Most of the does he had seen were great with calf. He gave a slight smirk at that thought, In a month it would be time for easy pickings on deer...
His great black wings were partially opened. They were still well preened, but he felt reluctant to attempt to use them very often. His blue eyes were mismatched....the one was bright, sky blue while the other was a milky blue with a scar across half his face. He was partially blind, flight was difficult for an old man like him. He could fly short distances at low altitudes after a season of practice, but landing was shaky. Teaching his children how to fly had been hard for him, but he had managed to get a few lessons to the little scamps before they began to out fly him. He had to hide his jealously, but it was not that hard once he saw the smiles on their faces as they soared.
Pups. He glanced up to the sky, as if his kids were circling him now. He let out a sigh. He loved being a father, and his children were growing up so fast it was hard to keep up. He wanted more. His thoughts wandered toward his mate, Satinka. She was a wonderful mother.....maybe he would breech the idea of more pups to her tonight. It was a bit of a risk, since the breeding season had already passed, however his inventory was proving that it would be a bountiful year. His pack could make it. He was not getting younger, he would be 10 years of age once the fall hit....he wasn't sure if he would be able to produce viable pups when the next breeding season came around.
He looked out toward the edge of the meadow and licked his black lips. It was hard to believe that almost a year ago he was in this very meadow catching flying fish for his love. The migration would be starting in a few months as well. Judging by the last one, he suspected that they were also doing well. Flight. Flight. Flight. He yearned for it. Catching the fish was a test of aerial prowess that he had been able to do at one point.
His mind was made up, he was going to fly high again. He was half blind, but he would do most of it he was certain, he just had to pay attention to how long he had been away from the ground. He stood on his long black legs and jumped off the rock. He ran through the wildflowers, flapping his great wings until he had enough momentum to take off. He took off and began to fly up in switch backs so as not to go too fast. He circled the meadow carefully, trying his darnedest to stay at the same elevation.
It didn't take long for the lack of depth perception to start taking it's effect. He was beginning to feel dizzy and light headed. He growled at his weakness and closed both his eyes for a few seconds. He was lucky that he had lived in this area for so long that he knew no trees would pop up to swat him out of the sky. However he felt his altitude changing, he needed to keep his eyes open. He opened them reluctantly and was startled to see how far up he was. Damn. He may have gone to high. He felt vertigo hit him and he tilted down towards the earth to attempt to relive it. The queasiness was rising in his belly, he needed to get down to the ground quickly or he was going to risk passing out.
The darkness was creeping in on him, he needed to slow down, he opened his wings as wide as he could and attempted to lower his back legs to create drag. He was still descending a little too quickly. The stars were clouding his already poor vision. Land. Land Land. He needed to land. Closer to the ground....the heat was rising up his neck and the sensation of weightlessness over came him.
Then he hit the grass.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,230,true] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=background,http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt87/Tye-Lily/Comissions/tinka3.jpg] [scrolly:h(171),w(420),sy] The Queen bent her wings and body so that she could turn and turn again, slowly descending towards the earth in lazy circles. Although she had enjoyed flying over the night skies and brushing her wings against the clouds interrupting their smooth journey, she also was getting hungry. Her own schedule had changed much over the past few months, with her pups being older she could sleep in later, or get out earlier, they were quite independent now, and she knew that their father had taught them the basics of flight and they had taken that knowledge and “ran” with it to add their own degree of finesse. It would seem Halcyon would be the most calm deliberate flyer, and while Blaisen was a rather aggressive flier it would also seem Loca was the most off when it came to balance and control. She had given Satinka more than one scare where she nearly dropped out of the sky, and for the first time Satinka knew why her own mother dreaded having her female pups learn to fly, it was a scary experience.
Thinking of her own children made her stomach turn slightly, she wanted more babies, more young mouths at her teats, and more beautiful memories with her mate. She knew very well that he was not getting any younger as the seasons came and went, and since that horrible attack she also knew it had taken years off her mate’s life. Where he might have led a longer, fuller life now he was blind in one eye and could hardly fly like he used to. Her muzzle turned into a sigh of sadness, as she could not bear the thought of losing her mate, her beloved lanky lover who cared for her so. Even when she had been at her worst, pregnant and hurt beyond belief he had gone into the last days of the fish migration and used his flight to bring her the savory fish she loved so much. Tears sprang forward into eyes as blue as the sky as she thought about how she had snapped at him, and she had never seen him so very sorry for anything he had done but in that moment. He had been a typical male in the regard that he had no idea which female to go to, she or Aurora but he also knew he was the father to both litters yet was nearly torn in two…just as her heart, and she was sure, Aurora’s.
When her feet touched the ground she stopped and stretched her back, swinging her long tail back and forth as if her very bones needed the stretch, which she believed in essence was true. She headed toward the meadow, and although it held so many unbelievable bad memories for her she also knew it would be the best place to grab a small, quick meal. With the coming of spring, and soon to be summer, most of the prey were producing fertile, lovely litters of young ones, and although she felt some guilt, her predatory nature and rumbling stomach quickly eliminated the problem for her. She moved slightly, her wings folded back against her back as she easily maneuvered the area in which many wolves, from keiyou, to lyxxus, and even her own pups had tumbled down. But she had lived here long enough to watch for the foot falls of others and to use them to her advantage, and she knew to pay attention, because lack of focus would have one landing at the bottom with a mouthful of dirt, or worse a broken wing, which to most keiyou was as close to death as it got without actually dying.
Her ears tilted back and forth for a moment as she heard sound, and watched as a set of black wings, and a lanky orange body took to the sky a ways in front of her and her eyes widened. She knew that her mate had more than once tried to experiment with flying especially around the younger pups but she had never actually seen him try by himself before and her heart began to thud within her chest, unknowing of how to respond. Because he did not have all of his sight she knew it might be a bad idea to yelp or bark and take his attention away from what he was doing but she was scared for him! Her life with Reynard had never been boring but she was not sure how many more scares she could take, and not that she would ever complain but with how stubborn he was she felt like his private nurse! Many a night and day she had made sure he stayed in the den with her, not only out of wanting him close but to make sure he did not do things like this too soon, and now here she watched as he went up and up and up!….All of a sudden her stomach fell to her paws as she saw that he had indeed went up too far, and without the proper sight to get acclimated his body would just not cooperate and she watched in horror as his body plummeted to earth.
She leapt forward, pushing her wings out as she left the ground and took to the sky to try to make it to him before he hit the grass, but she heard the sickening thud before she could even get close enough to buffer him. She flapped her wings to push herself higher to avoid scraping herself on the rocks, tangling grass and roots before flapping intensely to lower herself slowly by her mate. She let her tears fall silently down her face and berated herself for constantly crying when HE got hurt. Even any few injuries she had received, even birthing the pups had not been as hellish for her, thankfully for the gift of her ability to heal, but now that gift made her feel selfish, and stupid. Bird-brained even…”Reynard….! Reynard!” She put her nose softly into his shoulder and began nosing around gently to see if he had broken anything she could see right away. The landing looked hard but she couldn’t move him enough to see the proper damage…”I ought to just….” the sentence ended in an exasperated growl as she pushed her muzzle to his and began licking along the bottom of her maw. “You just won’t be happy until you leave me here alone will you my love? With only our pups as my daily reminder of the mate I have come to love more than myself?” She sniffed back air as she continued to be affectionate even at this moment, daring another healer or wolf to encroach on this moment..[/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/ReynardSoarTableMid.png] His head was swimming and he was uncomfortable. His old body was complaining loudly to his latest feat of stupidity. He felt himself coming back to the world of the living with a warm tongue at his face and maw. He opened his eyes and was greeted with a beautiful sight. However, guilt washed over him as he saw the concern in his mate's face. He groaned loudly and pushed himself up in a sphinx pose. He flapped his wings carefully, making sure not to hit Santika, as well as making sure nothing was broken.
The words his mate used to rouse him from consciousnesses were ringing in his ears. He really needed to consider his actions better. He had been single most of his adult life, it was hard to consider his mate and children when he made rash decisions. Of course, he wanted to be able to fly for his mate and pups, it was all so complicated. He needed to confide in his family more when he attempted to do things that could be potentially harmful to everyone. What would have happened if the fall had killed him? What would Tinka and the babies do? What would the pack do?
He looked around where he had landed. Luckily he hit a softer patch of new grass, his air brake had taken most of the momentum out of his decent before he had lost consciousness. His ears folded back in frustration and embarrassment, his darker side seemed to well up a little as his temper turned on himself. What was a keiyou that couldn't fly properly? How could he be a good father to his children if he couldn't even fly with them. How could he be seen as strong for his pack? He was acutely aware of his short comings, and it made him so aggravated. He looked up at Satinka, a pained expression on his face, "I won't ever be able to fly well again, will I?" The realization left bile in his throat. He looked away, glaring at the ground with his ears pinned on his head.
He was stewing in his dark mood. Her presence was at least keeping him from lashing out at the surrounding scenery. He swallowed hard, trying to push his temper out of mind. He sighed in resignation, then took a deep breath to try to clear all the emotions away. He finally had the courage to look up at his mate and attempt to sit up. "I'm sorry Tinka....I think I'm fine though." He winched as he said it, one of his back legs seemed to be sprained. He suspected it took the brunt of the landing. Better a sprained leg, than a broken neck.
He kept his head low, still ashamed that he seemed to always hurt his mate no matter what his intentions. He looked her over, taking in her form. She certainly was a sight to see. He was at least thankful that he could still see well enough to bask in her radiance. He was glad to be alive, even if he was a broken wolf. He lifted his chin up and licked her face gently, "I really need to stop making you cry...don't I?" He gave a half smile, trying to show her he was alright.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,230,true] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=background,http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt87/Tye-Lily/Comissions/tinka3.jpg] [scrolly:h(171),w(420),sy] Whenever she happened to be in the space with just her and Reynard alone she was ever thrilled with the warmth that always ran through her heart and head. It was as if she had swallowed water that warmed her from her muzzle all the way down to her toes. That was, if he would stop scaring her out of her wits with these several attempts at actions that were more than likely to end with him being injured. Each time she thought she had either lost him or was even closer to losing him she could hardly stand it, had they not have had pups she knew she would pine away and her heart would help follow him to the other world wherever that might be. But now that they had pups, and she had become acquainted with his other pups, adopted and not she could not see herself leaving them to get along without him let along her. Her mind was constantly whirring at this point of what she could say to him, what she could do for him that would convince him that not only did she need him but the pack needed him, his pups needed him…pups…perhaps…For the first time in her life Satinka may have acquired a devious look to her face as she stared at her mate.
Her eyes looked over him as he flapped his wings and said a small prayer of thanks that nothing on his wings seemed to be injured. She didn’t think he could take any more injuries to his wings, things were bad enough with the fact that he was coming to grips with the fact that even if he could fly there was no way he would be restored to his former glory. Even she felt as though he had been robbed by the sheer fact that Great Spirit couldn’t leave him to older age, no it had to rob him of his sight partially, and had robbed him of the ability to soar through the sky. She had never felt angry that much in her life but she could feel angry for him, angry for his situation, and angry that if his spirit were ever broken she would essentially be alone. Her heart was completely conflicted with what she should do or feel, happy that he was alright and conscious, angry that he was suffering, or saddened that she felt as though she would lose him sooner than she might have ever thought.
Her eyes met his with that painful expression within them, and she felt the smaller pieces of her heart break off, and her mind shifted with confusion. She wasn’t so sure he couldn’t fly again, but she knew he would be limited in just how he could fly. Perhaps if she or one of the pups flew with him and kept him aware of just how high he was going or what he was near…With a soft, and gentle, full of loving voice she spoke, “I don’t know my love…I am hesitant to say you can’t, I want you to and I know you want to..perhaps if someone flew with you it would be easier for you so that you don’t go too high, or if you need to land quickly they can assist you to avoid obstacles..” She had hoped she sounded hopeful but she knew he probably would feel even more hindered by the idea of having someone fly with him, almost like a babysitter…so quickly thinking…”I could fly with you my love, it would be a pleasure to have you in the air with me, we could spend time together alone, and so you wouldn’t feel…so dependent..”
Seeing his ears pinned back to his head she whimpered slightly and leaned forward to try to press her head against the side of his in some gesture of comfort. She nodded to his apology but her keen eyes and ears did catch sight of the sprained leg and she immediately stood and worked her way to the wounded leg. Her power to heal welled up within herself and there was no doubt she could easily see her mate whole and well again, the power pushing at the muscles and tendons in his leg, the warmth spreading from herself to him. Within a few long moments she exhaled and inhaled deeply opening her eyes, she knew it would still be taunt and tight but it would heal better with her nudging. When he licked her face she sighed into his fur and inhaled deeply, taking in his scent as if she was going to lose him tomorrow. She nipped and nibbled into his fur and breathed out deeply with a sigh of contentment to be around him, surrounded by him. “I would appreciate it yes…” She smiled, and even managed a small laugh before continuing to speak, “Reynard…I was thinking..you know Loca, and Halcyon and Blaisen, they are all growing up so fast…Angel, and Nocht and Altan, they are all almost ready for mates of their own..”
She looked down and idly scraped the earth with her paw, and her tail swished almost nervously. She knew that had they have wanted pups it was a little late to go at getting them now but Tinka could not help it. She felt as though fate and death were pressing down on her, her pups were growing faster than she could ever be comfortable with, and she wanted more from her mate than time would give her. She wanted as many reminders of him as she could get, and at the same time she wanted to feel wanted again not only by him but needed by the small muzzles of pups again. Her eyes finally raised themselves to his and she sheepishly said, “You are a wonderful father, I love seeing the way pups love you, come to you for advice, hang on your every word, they love you, and so do I…Rey…I want..more puppies…” She wouldn’t hide her face in shame for wanting more young ones…but her nerves were on edge as to whether her mate would agree with her or not…her tail twitched faster and even more nervously as she waited for his answer..[/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/ReynardSoarTableMid.png]It was hard not to feel like his pride would forever be bruised by his injuries. Yet despite how unhappy he was with his body, he knew that, if he could do it again he would do everything the same way. He lost his ability to see completely and fly easily, but it was the payment for keeping his boy alive. Keeping his family whole. Halcyon was alive because he took on the calagris instead of running like he would have when he was a cur. His children and family were everything. They were his life.
His mate's words sent another slap across his face. He would have to be aided in flight. A crutch, a babysitter. Independence in flight would not come ever again. As if predicting his mental response, Satinka quickly tacked on that she would like to volunteer for that job. It lightened his heart enough to get a true smile to his face. "I'd like nothing more than to fly with you again." She was perfect for him. She could pull him out of his dark places with just a touch. He sighed happily as she leaned into him. Her scent in itself was medication enough for him. However, it did not take long for her to start working on him.
He always felt bad when she had to heal him. He almost pouted this time, "Darling...you can't always heal me....you know my body almost better than your own at this point. " He gave an apologetic smile as one ear came up mimicking the look a sheepish pup might give his mother. "I think I'd learn better if nature healed me, it'd take longer and not be done quite as well." He did not want to discourage her healing practice, but at times he wondered if he was so foolhardy because he had an army of healers behind him.
He nuzzled with her, enjoying her little nips and touches. The topic of conversation changed though, so much so that both his ears shot up and he gave her a crooked smirk as he watched her falter out her flirting. Her touch and coddling had been enough to him excited for her without her advances. He was patient though, he waited to see how she took the conversation. When she started to compliment his way with being a father he stood, raising an eyebrow. His tail was going and he was panting everso slightly. When she finally said that she wanted more puppies he stepped forward, a wide grin on his dark, greying maw.
He opened his wings and enveloped her in them, nudging her as close to him as he could. He looked down into her pretty eyes, "I suppose that I change what I said before, about flying...I can see that flying with you might be more of a challenge than we need. But, I would love to have more puppies with you. That I can still do, even if I am half blind." His oily voice was thick with charm. He leaned in and nuzzled around her neck and face. He moved to nip at her nape, urging her to accept his advances. He lifted one wing slightly to allow her to maneuver if she wanted. Though he was having to restrain himself from pulling her around. She instigated it, he wanted her to control it. He would be happy to have a few moments when he wasn't in charge.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,230,true] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=background,http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt87/Tye-Lily/Comissions/tinka3.jpg] [scrolly:h(171),w(420),sy] Satinka in that moment could not have asked for a better mate, it would seem whatever she asked for he would give her if it was within his means. He had practically given his life so that they both did not have to deal with the loss of their eldest pup. From the very first time they had met and he had somewhat offered to protect her from a dragon, now of course no wolf was a match for the fire breathing animals, and she would never expect him to try to fight one off considering how her first mate had died but it was only further proof of what he would do. He had taken her under his wing, and provided her shelter, and a place within his pack long before he had taken her as his Queen. She knew she would be forever thankful for that, and in addition to her love for him it was that reason and more as to why she continuously tried to make sure all the pack members remained in good health, if she could help them she would. When there was a smile on his face once more and he commented on flying with her she in turn gave him one of her brightest smiles. Even if there was bad news to be delivered she would rather deliver it to him so she had a chance at trying to make him see the positives of it.
“Well isn’t a mate supposed to know her mate’s body that well?” She gave him an almost devious stare at that point and continued her ministrations against his pelt and fur before he continued, causing her to pause in what she was doing. “I think you would be just as fool hardy regardless of whether I healed you or nature healed you…but just as you say nature might not heal you as well…I don’t want you to lose the ability to run or jump as so many other things have been taken from you..” She turned her concerned blue eyes over to him, especially with what she had planned, if he continued these ridiculous spurts of experimentation he would be land bound…if not worse before their first set of pups had pups or their own or before their second litter was even born. She could not allow it if she could help it, and especially since it was one of his legs she could not have him not heal correctly, and be limping as well as unable to fly or hardly able to see. “Is it so wrong that the legion of healers we have love their alpha so much they would attempt anything to see him whole once more?”
The anticipation of waiting for his answer, and his breath panting so close to her was setting her nerves on edge. Although the official season was over she could not hide the desire she had for her mate. The way he breathed next to her, the way his tail was moving, just as her own as if he knew what she might say, he could dare to say he looked excited by her own admittance. Her mind was racing and her tongue slightly escaped her maw to allow more oxygen into her lungs, as she remembered she might have been holding her breath as she waited. Finally as though the sun was peeking through the clouds she saw the wide smile that appeared on his face and her own eyes and facial expressions lit up in a large smile. Yes, yes! He loved the idea as much as she did, he even wanted it! In those quick moments she could not help but to love him even more, knowing now that they must have been meant to be, how much more of a sign could one want, other than two mated wolves almost reading each other’s mind and finding that both of them wanted more pups?
When the ebony wings of his opened to envelope her into them she came more than willingly, folding her own down so that they did not interfere with the embrace. As close as she could get she pushed her face into his pelt, trying to memorize every orange and black highlight on his skin, the way his lanky muscles felt around her, even the way his wings seemed to wrap around her perfectly. In places her own white and silvery pelt meshed with his own creating a weird melding of colors as she saw them. She raised her head up to stare into his face as he spoke and she nodded, if they were going to have puppies or try for them his attempts at flight might..rather should be delayed for a longer time. But just as his reaction had showed he wanted more pups just like she did, and she made a soft whine of happiness into the air above them. “Reynard I am sure you could still do it even if you were completely blind…” A small smile, rather a smirk appeared on her face as she made her comment, and she knew that even if he did lose his sight she would never abandon him and she would have still wanted to try for more pups, it would just take a lot of awkward guiding and positioning.
His nuzzles and touches did not go unheeded though, the sounds that came from her muzzle were those of pure pleasure and she could hardly keep them contained as he touched her and moved with her. When he kept his wing opened and wide to allow her to move she did after all it was true, she had made the statement of wanting more pups and so this was now her time to try to make the process easier. She turned her body around fluidly, not so quickly that it could be deemed over -eager or easy but enough that he had a good view of her body as she did so. It would seem Satinka was still trying to be flirtatious and desirable as she moved for him. With one glance backward, she backed up against him, and pushed her tail to the side, lowering her wings out and down, so that they remained out of the way for him to be able to mount her without feathers going everywhere. Her tail swished to the side to allow access and her face had turned around to stare at him brazenly as she waited, the scent of desire and anticipation floating off her in waves that she could hardly contain. She had complied and taken control of the position and all but put herself on him to take control of the position, all he had to do now was the final movement. She took one last intake of breath as she stared up at him in anticipation, her upper body having been lowered ever so slightly to tease him. [/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/ReynardSoarTableMid.png]His mate certainly knew how to push all the right buttons to get him ready. Every movement of her fluffy body, every twitch of her tail and flash of that wicked smile made his desire for her surge. Her playful banter got a smile from his dark lips, oh yes he did know her body quite well, and was always glad to know it more. For them to be so on par about the want of puppies, as well as just the touch of each other was enough for him to know that she was perfect. She took care of him, their pups, their pack.
His eagerness was paused as she made one last note on his brash behavior in the past couple months. He met those beautiful concerned eyes and had to swallow back the guilt once more. He needed to be more careful, he was not in his prime anymore and there were all kinds of things in the dark that would take his life if given half a chance.
