More or less that was the chant that kept her sane during the day. At night she was more than content to curl up in her stone den, covered in furs, although she had spent most of her first night back trying to break them out of their stiffness. Now that she had been back about a week, she had added to the pile, if only for her own comfort. Even meat she brought into the prey cache for the pack was fur less. She was like the pelt bandit of the Children. Sneakily she would arrive back at her den and drag the dry pelt onto her pile, and relished the thought of sleeping in such warmth. Unfortunately, as soon as she stepped outside of her den the cold enveloped her and she shuddered slightly. Her first experience back alone, had been her first bath, in the cold. She had placed a paw in a shallow part of the river that hadn’t iced over and swallowed her scream of terror. Not only was it water, her fabled enemy, but it was freezing, but Kaly could not deal with the dirt and grime she had acquired in her trek home from the beach.
So begrudgingly she had bathed herself, and even scrubbed fluffier parts of herself against some of the rocks to get the hard to get dirt off of herself. She quickly streaked back to her den to dry, and clean herself before she was completely puffed out again. In the middle of her drying she had closed her eyes and pulled her new, second tail around to cover her face. Right now the last thing she wanted to see was anyone coming close to her den, especially that winged bird feather for brains Bri. It had just so happened that on her trek back she had hit her birthday, she knew no one to celebrate it with her, and the one person whom she had wanted to share it with had left her to find her own way. She had suffered the pain of her tail splitting and the complete uncomfortable feeling of now controlling two tails all alone. She had also missed her parents alone, and for this maybe it was best that she be alone, she had been in a bad mood that day, remembering better times with her family, which were always cut short by the horrible ways that her parents had died.
Perhaps it was even worse for Kaly, because she had had no pack to call on or to support her, she had simply had her parents, and then when they had died she had been thrust out into the world, and then she had pushed her way into the Children, if only for a place to live. Now she knew of only two people who slightly cared about her, well…now she could scratch that into one person. “Damn him, that golden idiot! I hate him…!” She sniffled a little bit, but refused to cry over him, she simply refused. ‘You don’t really hate him, you love him…’ Her inner mind spoke, if only to torture her…”Even if I did that doesn’t mean anything, he left ME, not the other way around! Now he has either completely left the territory, OR he is avoiding me, I don’t know which is worse..Not like I’d waste my time to find him…” ‘You know very well you would go find him if you weren’t afraid of him rejecting you..’ “SHUT UP!”
Her eyes opened wide as she was surprised by her own outburst…at herself no less…She simply figured if she did not have Bri to screech at, and Coneiron wasn’t around of course she would be screaming at herself…there was no one else. Kaly simply refused to admit that she was lonely, she did not want to be a part of this pack, but without a pack most wolves die, and as a lyxxus she had to work three times as hard to survive on her own as any other wolf. She had no powers…besides her own insanity. Why couldn’t she have been gifted with a useful power, one that would let her pick up things heavier and throw them, or blend in with things? How crappy was this…? Suddenly, behind her closed eyes she saw what looked to be a flame, and it was coming closer. For a second she wanted to run, believing that what she saw was real, when she realized in her stupor of waiting to dry she had gone off into a more mental, trance like state. Within this state, she watched as a wolf, stepped through the flame, a rose entangled around it’s leg….’That must be Moonrose, she is the only one with scars like that…’ her inner voice was calmer now as she watched the scene before her. Another flame seemed to come closer to Moon, and then push further away, it was almost as if the two flames were dancing…Kaly didn’t quite understand this scene before her eyes.
She became distressed as the flame of Moon came closer and closer, and suddenly her mind spoke, ‘Fire can provide warmth, or burns, it all depends on how much you feed it…’ With that the image faded away and Kaly was left to open her eyes, now completely dry but also completely freaked out. It seemed she could not close her eyes without seeing something weird pertaining to everyone else around her. Moonrose’s name stayed within her mind as she stepped out of the cave dwelling she called home, and pushed herself under the brush that protected her home. It gently combed her pelt and she went on the hunt, for what she was not entirely sure of. She just had that feeling in the pit of her stomach Moon would be in her sphere of being, at least today, why else would she have seen that stupid ‘vision’…She rolled her eyes and idly kicked at a pile of snow in temper. Perhaps this time, she wouldn’t need to say anything harsh to Moon, maybe they would meet and things would be different. Moon, having her own situation with Nocht, might understand her issue with Bri…well that is if Moon had dealt with her own issues with Nocht while she had been away….She shook her head, thoughts, these thoughts would drive her to the point of madness! |

The only sound that she managed to pick up in her own massive ears were the sound of her own white feet crunching down the snow as she padded through it, remaining left of the border as she had been for the last hour or so. Though her crimson pelt was not helping her with any sort of camouflage or even much warmth for that matter, she was still up for patrolling all day. Activity in this sort of weather was important, lest someone waste away by sitting in their den all day long all winter. Hunting for yourself and training and patrolling would be especially important this season, for winter left packs vulnerable. With little food to feed the pack, strength would dwindle. Keeping the heart of the pack strong was more important to her than to keep herself fed. Granted, that was an important thing as well, but she needed to be sure that everyone else was safe and well-fed, even with low supplies.
Moonrose had eaten when she had awoken from her nightmares once more. Yet again, they had not ceased to exist within her mind. For some reason, no matter the amount of meditating she did, the nightmares would not leave her be. At least, for now, she did not kick and scream in the middle of her den, waking up every living creature withing a ten mile radius of her. She suffered silently in her own bed of moss and down feathers, alone. Well, she was warm when she slept, providing some comfort. Her bed was made of dry moss, many down feathers that she had collected over a period of time, grasses, leaves, and even a few pelts of some animals that she had caught. Her bed was well made, and it kept her from freezing at night when she slept alone in her den. There was no one else in there to share it with, allowing her plenty of space, but it certainly was lonely.
The Lyxxus sighed, becoming bored with her patrol for the day. Granted, it was only near noon and she hadn't even traveled across half the territory yet, but there was really not that much to look at. Nothing except the numerous plants that would be hibernating until spring, the bushy pine trees and underbrush, and the snow that draped its chilling blanket across the lands. As pretty as it was when the sun hit it just right, causing it to glitter like precious stones, there was nothing happening. It was simply a still picture for her to look at, for she knew that not many animals (especially certain pack members) would not be rousing from their beds anytime soon to come and gaze upon the scenery. It was cold, there was little food for any animal, and most were miserable. That much she understood.
"I'm not going to be seeing much action today... I suppose a walk will do." She spoke to herself, turning away from the border and padding onwards towards the Slipping Meadow. If there was a view to see from any other place that was more beautiful, she did not care to know about it. She loved gazing upon the Valley from the Meadow, because it captured a perfect picture, if anything. However, the Meadow held many dear memories to the heavily scarred Lyxxus. It was where she had returned from the Mafia lands with Brightness with the injuries that she had obtained from Ebony, the Yagi-Myou Hybrid loner. It was beneath one of the trees that Satinka had laid her down, worked on her injuries the best she could before she went to find Reynard. It was also where Satinka and Nocht seemed to be ready to rip one another apart of either of them neared her.
The thought made her laugh. She was under the influence of many things that day, all sorts of herbs and chemicals rushing through her brain to keep herself from hurting. The pain, though, had to be one of the only things she remembered so clearly. Her multiple cracked ribs, the fur torn off her face, her eye swollen shut. Since that day of being found by Satinka, and healed by her and Aurora, she had not spoken of it at all. She wished she could somehow tell a story of it to someone, like pups. Maybe one day she would be able to tell the story of how she got her scars to some pups who needed scaring, so they would not wander from their dens at night. She would not tell such things to Satinka's or Aurora's pups just yet. They were too young and she probably would not mention it until they asked.
As Moonrose entered the Slipping Meadow, she spotted a figure kicking angrily at an innocent pile of snow. She recognized the wolf as Kalylia, the fiery little female who had made all the wrong assumptions and accusations about her and Nocht that day in the cave. As it stood now, the Guardian could no longer deny her feelings for the male. She had come to accept that there was a great chance she loved him deeply, and it was Kalylia who had made her think about it. Thinking about it made her take it to Satinka, which led to Satinka changing the way she thought of herself. It wasn't appearance that made someone beautiful. However, as she watched the small female, she couldn't help but feel a slight pang of envy. Even though she took pride in her scars, sometimes she wished she did not have them, but they proved to her opponents that she was a worthy fighter and could hold her own.
There was something else she noticed about the female in front of her. An extra tail. She knew Kalylia had been close to her second birthday because of her size, but she hadn't been aware she was that close nor had she known that she had become two years of age. Silently, Moonrose padded through the snow a ways until she was a few feet behind her. Using her Telekinesis, she lifted the snow from around her and held it above her packmate. Shaking it slightly, she allowed fresh snowflakes to fall from her pile around Kalylia, making it seem as though it was snowing. The sun was high in the air, though, with few clouds scattered about the sky. "The second tail marks something special." She said, blinking her sapphire eyes once. "How have you been, Kalylia?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,502,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i369/mo_avalon/WonderWhy/kalybg.png]Kaly would most likely be in a temper like this for days at a time, in fact with this whole thing about Bri, it could go on for months. Pity any wolf to get in her path, of course she knew she would probably have to move to an un-occupied territory to avoid other wolves, and even then it was not completely avoidable. She thought about seeking Nocht out just to torment him, he would give her a good run for her money if not attempt to kill her, and she didn’t think that would so much be a bad thing right about now. More snow went under her paws and thrown up behind her, making clouds of snow rise and fall with each kick of her paws. It was freezing, but she had no choice, she couldn’t go back to her den, for fear of being..well tormented by more visions of what was to come, and she couldn’t just stay here beating up on snow that had no feeling of pain, it wasn’t as enjoyable as fighting something that could fight back. Even the dark couldn’t hide the sunrise colored lyxxus from other’s views which was another reason she just had a feeling she would run into someone…probably a pack member, but maybe she would get lucky and it would be an intruder and she would get to kill them, or at least attempt it.
Okay so she was still pissy about being named a hunter…it was irksome to say the least and she still had a chip on her shoulder about it. But on the lighter side, with being a hunter she was more free to travel and do what she wanted then if she were weighed down by the responsibilities of being a Guardian, so she supposed it was a fair trade off. Of course..her first bit of traveling had been a disaster but who was to say all her journeys would be this way? Next time she would just not take Bri….’As though you aren’t going to speak to him again. Pfft.’ She kicked up another mound of snow…”He’s the one avoiding me, who the hell knows if he even is in the Children’s territory anymore! He could have turned tail and went back to the beach to be with that idiot Crow!” ‘You’ve smelled traces of him around, you know very well he is still here, the Cove is too close to the Mafia territory for him to be there any length of time…’ She snorted and rolled her eyes at her inner thoughts, and how conflicting they were with her own. Her eyes were seemingly black for even in clear daylight her eyes were hard to peg, such a dark midnight blue they were…
She turned for a moment and was able to see the view of the slipping meadow all around her, and her mind went back to the day she had met Bri, and how he had been hurt, and how spunky she was….granted she was always spunky around Bri but he also brought out a nice side of her…..Snorting she spoke out loud….”Well I’ll never make that mistake ever again…” She sighed and lay down on a pile of snow she had collected, sinking down slightly. Her large ears folded against her skull as she sulked angrily and once again became imprisoned by her own thoughts until..snow began to fall. She almost sighed and said, it would be her luck until she realized it was only snowing on her…her mouth opened slightly as she took a step to the right, and then to the left only to be followed by snow….She was just about to open her mouth to snap when she whirled around to hear a voice. She had looked into the sky and seen no clouds, no snow clouds, only the sun bearing down on her and making the stationary snow around her glitter with it’s shine. Now in front of her stood Moonrose. She swallowed for a long moment, yet another ‘vision’ come true…although she was still confused about her being a flame..and what the quote had meant…
She stared at the female in front of her….something special….something special her ass. Although she did not come right out and say that…She looked at Moonrose full on in the sunlight. She examined her from head to toe, looking at her scars where she could actually see them. In the cave it had been dark and though she could hear the female and sense her presence now she could see her. The scars did not so much scare her as they slightly changed her opinion of Moonrose, she actually respected her. She was indeed a warrior and she had marks to show for it, as Coneiron has…well had…Her friend had changed immensely during her time away. It would seem Moon had too, before she had come at her trying to get a rabbit, screaming, cursing and flinging aggravation and irritation every which way at her. Kaly now watched the female in front of her, with four tales, and lighter eyes seemed to have gained a sense of calmness and maturity while she herself was going through trials that would turn her into a more mature adult as well. She sniffed for a long moment and then shook out her multi-colored pelt and sneezed in front of her. “Something special indeed, it has brought about sheer and total hell into my life..” As always Kalylia was never afraid to tell it just how she saw it, and right now she was seeing everything through a particular nasty shade of…well negativity did not necessarily have a color but that’s about where she was…
She thought about the number of answers she could have given Moonrose in response to how she had been. Truly she could have came up with fifty explanations, complaints, insults or a numerous amount of other things, but she was tired. She was tired of being chased off, and always on the run with practically everyone, even her own pack mates. It wasn’t like she was well liked by the alpha, and she had called his mate fat…well not aloud but still. She sighed and sat back on her haunches, the two tails coming to curl around the front of her, bushy, rather large tails they were, and she was still getting used to trying to move them without looking stupid and clumsy….”I’ve been better, my whole world is just…falling apart. Not that there was that much there to begin with but the little I acquired is just in the dirt…rather snow now..” It would seem everyone around her had a cool power, Moon could lift things with…or without her body, Bri could fly, and was large and strong, the Queen could heal…and what could Kaly do? Let’s just not go there..Sighing she lifted her head and let some of the snow hit her face before she let her head fall down and looked at the rather red female, “What about you? Maybe you can tell me what has been happening since I’ve been gone..” She didn’t want to tell Moon just yet where she had been or what had been happening…she knew she had probably seen Bri..but she couldn’t bring herself past the lump in her throat to ask about him…but her eyes saddened for a long moment as she thought about it… |

Snowfall was something rather beautiful to her, and it was something she could lift and make fall herself without much effort at all. It was a very pretty thing, snow. Granted, it could cause problems and suffering, not to mention death in some cases, but it certainly was a thing to behold. Besides, just like wind and rain, snow was important to everything around them. The plants needed some time to sleep around here, and winter was the time to do it. There were other disadvantages to snow, though, especially to her species. There was not much at all that they could do to hide in it, not only making hunting difficult, but hiding as well. Winter was not the greatest friend to a Lyxxus.
Her sapphire eyes twinkled with amusement when she whirled around, seemingly ready to snap at the falling snow that the Guardian created around her. Despite how ruffled she had been the last time they had met, Moonrose still saw her as a very young girl who still had a lot to learn. She had no doubt in her mind that she could fight or defend herself, but she seriously did not believe that she had the proper training to control such moves. An untrained warrior was reckless, and open to a lot of attacks. There were holes in their defenses, leaving them vulnerable. The only thing they could really succeed in doing would be to run out of the enemy's grasp or get into a place where the enemy could not get to them. This was how she saw most hunters: capable, but improperly trained for a real fight.
Moonrose lifted an eyebrow curiously at her. Hell? She knew what that was like, she had been there and back many times. The slaughter of her family and pack, her fight with Ebony, and even now the road that she attempted to pick her way down with Nocht. None of it was easy, but it really was not supposed to be. Trials in life were something meant to make one stronger and better, to help them learn from the mistakes that you make. It was all she could do not to smile slightly from the things that the smaller female was telling her, because she could bring up memories of her own with each word that came out. To be honest, though, she had not brought the attention upon herself. She had asked the Hunter how she was, and had not said a thing about herself. She did not want to, unless it would help the other in any way at all.
"It gets less painful and easier to control with age. Your tails, that is." It was the only comment she could offer her at the moment. After all, she had yet to get an answer from her about how she had been. The Guardian had worried for her well being when she had finally started meditating, calming herself and knowing the things around her. It was only then that she had noticed the female's absence and had concerned herself over her well-being. She didn't particularly want to say that to her, for she did not know how she would react, especially considering the conclusion to their last meeting. That had not gone very well to begin with, and ended on an even worse note at that. She made a mental note to make sure that it did not happen again, for it wasn't something she wanted.
"Well, Coneiron gained Eternal Youth, I've gained Telekinesis, and Aurora and Satinka had pups. Reynard has been recently injured protecting his son from a Calagris, but he is well from what I hear. I don't believe there is much to worry about. Dragur has not been seen. Things are calm, for now." Worry was not necessarily something she was bothered with. She knew her leader was getting old, but she knew he would pull through no matter what. He had a pack, a mate, and many pups to look after. "I have certainly been well lately, but I still go through trials myself. I am still trying to sort through myself when it comes to Nocht." She sat herself down, arching her back slightly to stretch it. She moved the snow away from Kalylia and let it drop to the ground.
Moonrose grew silent for a moment, allowing herself to stare at the Hunter for a few seconds. She speculated and studied her, thinking. Her thoughts sorted themselves soon enough. "You are young, Kalylia, and I will tell you that life is not easy. The trials you go through are not meant to be easy, for that's why they are trials. They are meant to better you and teach you, which is why you ought to tackle them head on. I've been through Hell more than once myself, trust me, especially with my family." Though she had not intended for that to be an example, she did not allow her tone nor her facial expression reveal it. Only a slight shimmer of pain went through her eyes, there one second and gone in the next. She sort of hoped she did not notice it.
"Meditation helps, you know. To sit there in the silence and just be. Listen to the things around you and know them. It's very interesting too." She smiled a bit, chuckling lightly. She became somewhat serious once more, yet gave herself a kind demeanor, intending to make friends with her this time. "What ails you?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,502,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i369/mo_avalon/WonderWhy/kalybg.png]Kaly was beginning to feel as though she hated everything, and every one. The snow was cold, and hardly something she as a lyxxus enjoyed. She needed grasses like those of the prairie to even hope of some hiding ability, and because her body was small and less likely to keep warm the snows on the ground and the freezes at night made living less than desirable. But at the same time she could not live near the ocean, her down deep fear of water would have made that a less than desirable choice of places to live. She had once upon a time thought to take up residence within the jungle, but Bri had told her on several occasions what lay in wait their for herself. As much as Kaly thought she could take on anything, with the oncoming of her second birthday, and her situation with Bri she was painfully aware that she was not invincible. Surely she would still try to do all she could but she supposed now she was aware of her own limitations, and though she was miserable she was not miserable enough to wish for death…
‘Although it would show that bastard Bri if I died. Wouldn’t that just be the ultimate pay back. Leave me at the beach and then I come back here only to freeze to death..’ She was almost evilly content within her own mind when she realized there was another body here with her, and with the other body came questions and commentary. Her eyes looked at Moonrose for a long moment, seemingly sizing her up and inwardly questioning what she wanted with Kaly. She thought on this, especially with their last meeting, not only had she riled Moonrose completely up to the point of a nasty emotional state, but she knew she had also come very close to tumbling with Nocht. Which now that she thought about it would not be a bad thing to do again….A sheer grinch-like look appeared on her features as she thought of all the horrible things she could do without maiming him completely, she was rather sure she could get away with it too, all things considered. Ah but she was speaking of the love interest of the female in front of her, so she quickly pushed the thought to the back of her mind and once again tried to focus and concentrate on the conversation.
When Moon did smile she nearly snarled at her, here she was in her own personal hell and the female was smiling at her?! She didn’t seem to be smiling the last time they met..! But for once instead of letting her mouth send her into another possible fight, she simply sighed and curled her tails tighter, although the motion looked awkward and inept, she tried for as much smoothness as she could, hating the idea that she was not in control of this situation. She heard her speak of controlling her tails, and nodded slightly, just taking that small amount of information in, with age, everything happened with age, there were things happening to her now that had nothing to do with age! Her toes twitched in the snow, scraping it gently. When she began to speak about her friend, about Coneiron she lifted her eyes and listened carefully, eternal youth…a power from the great spirit, and even Moon had apparently been gifted from the great spirit, with a rather neat ability if we were all being honest. Kaly just put her ears down when she thought of what was happening to her. It wasn’t cool, or even useful.
The news about the alpha and the pups and all that was completely useless to her. In a sense she would have been happy with Reynard had he made her a guardian, and had she not have came here and found Bri. All those things made her less than happy to even care about what happened, and the fact that two of his apparent lovers had puppies was of inconsequential importance so she simply nodded. Moon didn’t look worried so it couldn’t have been that bad. There the two females stood against each other, Moon looked like a soldier in every sense of the word, battered and scarred, but bright like a river of blood, and Kaly looked like a burst of sunrise, for once in one second she knew she would have traded looks with Moonrose in a second. As many insults as she may have hurled, Kaly knew it wasn’t entirely jealous which drove her but she did want the experiences Moon had had, and she wanted the rank, her look was impressive while Kaly’s was feminine and girly, much to her displeasure. She listened to the older female tell her about trials, and as much as her mind groaned in displeasure she knew it was true, it was simply that no one wanted to hear it from someone else if they had to. She was watching the female’s face as she spoke though, and she did catch a glimmer of something, a hitch when she spoke about family, but Kaly let it go and looked away, she had her own sob story about family, and it would do no good to go into the past especially since you can’t ever go back and change it.
To the question of what ailed her Kaly snorted slightly and kicked up more dirt, her tails unfurling and almost smacking her in the face. She groaned and proceeded to practically flop in the snow in front of her in irritation. If it could, the snow would sizzle with her temper right now, and she glared at the white, cold fluffy surface. Meditation, ha! There was no way Kaly was sitting anywhere in silence with her eyes closed, every time she did that this stupid power, curse thing happened. Oh no she would not be giving in to this…insane thing that was happening to her. She didn’t bother to look Moon in the face as she took a deep breath and began to speak rather quickly, “I’m going crazy. Every time I close my eyes or get relaxed, I see things, then they freaking happen. It happens all the time, I’m losing my mind, and meditation is not going to help me. You get a cool power, Coneiron gets to be in prime condition forever and I get to go crazy! What irony is that! Then there is this whole Bri thing…I can’t believe he tried to cuddle me, AND THEN HE LEFT ME!!!” Her tone had built up over the explanation to the end where it was screeching muffled by the snow she had slammed her face in to. “I mean isn’t it enough that I told you about your situation? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME! I don’t need to care about anyone so why the hell does he bother me so much! If I ever see him again I’ll claw his eyes out!” She was exasperated by the time it was all said and released and she lay there, a small sunburst of sunlight, laying in the snow in front of Moon, having completely divulged what ailed her and now she sat there breathing heavily, and inhaling snow flakes as she waited for the other’s reaction in silence. |

The growing irritation was beginning to flow off the Hunter's shoulder, and Moonrose could feel her tension rising. She knew that the wolf was fiery and did not take much crap from anyone nor anything, but she was not aware that she could be bothered by something this much. When they had first met, the circumstances and everything had been so much different, so that might have been the reasoning for it. However, she did have to wonder what was bothering her so much. Underneath that strong facade, something had dug its way deep down into her skin and was clearly beginning to irritate her. She could see it from where she stood and for moments, there was nothing more that she wanted to do than to comfort her, but even she knew the dangers of that.
Especially after last time.
Moonrose's sapphire orbs watched her face twitch and curl into a very strange smile, one that sent an unpleasant shudder down her spine. The dark, nearly black furs of her back rippled in displeasure. She could not fathom what waltzed through the smaller female's head, but she had a feeling that it was probably not pleasant to the beholder. When she had smiled, she saw a flicker of something on Kalylia, almost as though she wanted to snarl. In some sense, she supposed that smiling must not have been the greatest thing ever to do, especially since she seemed to be having a bad day. She couldn't blame her. When she had been two, growing up had sucked, and her life only really went to hell the day she turned three. As soon as the thoughts entered her mind, she shoved them away and returned to focusing on her companion. She could not think of herself, and she refused to think of that day.
She sighed slightly, trying to recover from her low, "Having a power isn't all that great. It's awful at first, really... Trying to learn how to control it and exhausting yourself to a near coma over and over until you get it right... It's not fun. For weeks, I wished I'd never gotten the power." She believed for a moment, that with what she was going through, Kalylia probably felt useless and weak compared to those the Guardian had just spoken of. She had to admit that she had originally been jealous of those who had powers, like Satinka. Healing was a beautiful gift and she envied those who had it. Nocht had mimicry, so she was jealous of that. When she had gotten her own power, though, it had nearly killed her and she hated having it for quite some time. She was glad the very beginning was long over, but she knew there was more to come.
Moonrose's ears pricked attentively when she began to speak. In an instant, she knew that this would turn into a type of rant that she could not stop until it was over, and she would not interrupt her. She listened quietly, sitting there with her four tails curled neatly around her snowy white paws. She trailed every movement Kalylia made, watching as she threw herself into the snow and screamed about Brightness. Hm? Brightness? What did he have to do with this? Ah, cuddling. It did not take much for her to put the pieces together, like a puzzle meant for very young children, and she nearly smiled in amusement. She knew the Hunter was smart, but she could not really understand how she could have bypassed something so simple that was practically sitting right on her nose.
The Guardian felt the silence envelope them and she stared attentively at her, thinking about what to do. The thing that she did want to do was risky and she knew she'd risk possibly losing an ear if she tried it. However, she had nearly lost half of her face one time, so an ear would not be much to lose, at least not compared to the things that really mattered to her. Nocht mattered, Satinka mattered, Aurora mattered, their pups mattered, and Kalylia mattered. Whether the Hunter would listen to her or not if she told her, the Lyxxus cared for her well-being. Anyone that introduced themselves in her life immediately became a part of her circle, but only if they were not her enemy or threatening the thing she loved most: her pack, her family.
Moonrose shook her head slightly, then stood up from her spot. She padded the few feet that separated the two of them and positioned herself accordingly. She lowered herself to the ground and pressed her side against Kalylia's, sharing her heat, offering some comfort. "I'm afraid that I'd have to stop you if you tried to hurt him. Brightness means a lot to me. When I got these scars, he was the one who stopped the one who gave them to me ultimately from killing me. He saved my life and I owe him for it. I took him from his pack and offered him a better life, but I still owe him. He's important to me...as are you." There, she had said it, now she just had to wait for either the explosive, surprised, or indifferent response that she should expect. Being so close, she was wary.
Moonrose smiled again and chuckled a little. "Your situation is very plain to me. Kalylia..." She debated in continuing with her sentence, knowing something like what she was about to ask could provoke something. She had only ever met the female once, and she knew that she was a ticking time bomb. One little word could turn into an inferno and the tiny thing would explode. Sure, there was only so much that she could do to keep that simmered. Actually, she had a feeling that there was nothing she could do to keep her simmered, but everyone had their ways and their personalities. "Did you ever stop to think that maybe Bri loves you and is too scared to admit it?"

Kaly could not help but hold on to this chant as she sat in front of the older Guardian for more than some time now. She couldn’t believe the one wolf besides Nocht she decides to torture was sitting right in front of her and they were having a slightly decent conversation. Of course it didn’t help that they were in similar situations if not downright exactly the same. Kaly made several grunting and groaning noises in the snow, the whole snow thing was just another thing on top of many that was completely annoying her. It was cold, it was wet, and she just hated it. She swiped at it with her tails and claws, attempting to take out her rage on the substance to which was causing her so much irritation seeing as she couldn’t find Bri or anyone else who was actually annoying her in the physical sense, so she had to take it out on something. The little lyxxus must have looked like she was flailing in excess as she tried to pummel the snow beneath her, but it did what all snow and liquid did, give way and left her feeling unsatisfied and angier. “Stupid white, fluffy crap.”
Kaly refused to look up into Moonrose’s face after all, she was perfectly content to leave her face smushed into the cold substance as for right now it was cold enough not to melt completely, and offered her some kind f reprieve since she just spilled her figurative guts to the bright red female. While she was head first in the snow she attempting to get her two tails to cooperate with her, and the result could only be deemed amusing. The constant twitching and flickering of the two tails in opposite directions was only a growing agitation to her. Within a few moments of getting no cooperation she screeched, “OH I HATE THESE THINGS!” With that she flung herself upright and whirled around in a circle to catch the second offending tail, “I’LL JUST CHEW IT OFF!” With her famed battle cry she whirled and whirled until finally her paw stood on the other one and she ended up in a heap on her snow pile again sniffling slightly. “This is it. I have officially gone to hell.”
“Yes well your power has many cool things about it. Mine, I wouldn’t even call it a power. I’d call it induced insanity, or a curse, and I don’t think there is any amount of practice that will make it better in any aspect. I’ll still be crazy tomorrow, or the day after that or the day after that!” She was refused to even touch either one of her tails after the last episode and for a long moment she just sat there, petulantly. She wanted her mother, not that she would ever admit it to anyone, but she wanted the older female. She wanted her mother to cuddle her and to say she would be alright, and she wanted her father, who kept her so busy with hunting and fighting each day she had no time for feeling of caring for Bri and ranks, and all these stupid things she was faced with now. Had her parents still been alive all of this would have never happened! Her ears went back and the spitfire female in that moment looked as though she were completely alone in the world because, in reality she was.
She felt the slightly larger female get up from her position but Kaly was to worn out by her tantrums to stand up on the defensive and swipe at her with razor sharp claws. Kaly was just tired in general, between her vision, and the explaining everything, and this god awful tail experience she felt like she could sleep right here no matter how cold it was around her. If Moonrose ever wanted to exact revenge now would be the time because the smaller female just had no energy to continue the fight with, which scared her but not enough to push herself over the edge to defend herself against someone who really wasn’t a threat. They had come a long way these two females, Moonrose from threatening her, arguing with her, and running from her to sitting in front of her telling her, her woes, oh how she had fallen. Mentally she just groaned over the whole situation, this whole thing with Bri had caused her to just change completely, well maybe not completely but enough to where she was disgusted with it but could essentially do nothing about it.
She soon felt the side of Moon pressed in against her own, and instead of screeching and acting like she had some contagious disease she simply sat there glaring art the horizon in front of her. The heat from the other female was indeed nice, and Kaly was slightly cold, and although she was never a big one for physical contact, she didn’t so much as move away as she re-adjusted herself so the two were doing as little touching as possible but she could still feel the heat from the older female. “Oh so you’re the one that took him from the mafia?” She wondered exactly how that had gone down, she knew the basic story, but she hadn’t known Moon had played such a very large role in the story…and suddenly….Kaly felt herself overwhelmed with jealousy and her next words hissed from her mouth with the promise of violence..”So he is special to you…in the same way as Nocht?” Had the answer come out as a yes Moonrose would be better to see just how fast she could move because that would the end of Kaly’s niceness. “ Her claws were unsheathed already and gleamed in the snow as she curled them down in an effort to control herself.
As to the other wolf saying she was important, Kaly shrugged that off until she could get an answer about just how special Bri was to her, this was imperative to Kaly, she didn’t like that stupid Cael fish female, and her feelings for Moonrose, while tentatively were on the neutral to near liking, they would completely plummet should she admit to caring for Bri beyond a friend liking. Her ears went back and her dark midnight eyes slid to the side to watch the female’s response in case she needed to spring into action and slice her to ribbons. When Moonrose did finally drop the bomb of information about Bri loving her Kaly jumped into action and stomped around in front of her. “He can’t love me! He is not supposed to love me! Look at him and look at me!” In truth they both looked like two different rays of sunshine and were quite cute together but that was so beyond the lyxxus’ scope of thinking. “And even if he did, this stupid love thing, how could he love someone as crazy as me, with this stupid power, or curse!? I am small, tiny even, not that I am not a good hunter and fighter but still!”
Whipping around to face Moon nearly nose to nose since she was standing and Moon was sitting, “IF he did, then why did he leave me, and WHY is he avoiding me then Ms. SmartAboutEverything..?” Fear apparently was not an answer. She huffed slightly her breath covering Moon’s nose and muzzle. |

Moonrose simply chuckled. White, fluffy crap? She wouldn't call it that. For her species, it wasn't such a fantastic thing, since they were small and depended mostly on the animals to survive. Those animals fled and hibernated during the winter. However, everyone had their preferences. While she didn't mind the snow, loved it even sometimes, there would be some who didn't like it at all. She simply shrugged, then blinked a few times when she became frustrated with her tails, shouting of how she'd chew them off. "Such lovely tails, though. Beautiful colors. I don't see the reason for them to be gone. You will grow to ignore them soon." She had done that much. They were barely there to her anymore.
"Induced insanity, eh? All of us go through that in our lives at one point, Kaly, sometimes maybe even more than once. I'm pretty sure I have. As much as I would hate to go through it again, it is a building block in life, and I might go through it again." She feared the day that she would, because she didn't like to be in a bad place, ever. She hated being incompetent to her pack, unable to do things for them. She had gone through her insanity when her pack had been slaughtered and when she had gone through her attack from Ebony. Her power was a small episode, but not much. She despised those episodes with a fiery passion, but even she knew there was nothing she could do about it. It was a natural process.
She noticed the smaller female move slightly away from her as she sat beside her. Mental not taken, touch was a no. She didn't mind that, not everyone liked touch. However, she was glad the smaller Lyxxus was not screaming in her face, trying to claw her eyes out. She was glad they were no longer really on hating terms. It was nice, considering when they first met, they were pretty much ready to rip one anothers' throats out. She nodded a few times. "Yeah, it was no easy task, but I was the one who took Brightness from the Mafia. It was how I got the scars I have on my face now, but it was from a loner I was tracking, not the pack members." She shuddered slightly at the memory.
Her sapphire orbs widened slightly as she stared at the female. Loved Brightness as she did Nocht? For a moment, she was silent, then she laughed. "Heaven's no, Kaly. I love Nocht differently than I love Brightness. Bri is like a massive little brother to me." That was how she felt about the insecure hybrid. Nocht meant something more to her, someone she would spend her life with and love forever. Brightness was definitely more of a brother to her, just as little Parcifal was in her old pack. She wondered how he was, living with the Great Spirit right now. She shook the thoughts away as quickly as they came. They were all gone now and she was here, with new friends and family.
She was slightly surprised when the female leaped to her feet and stomped around in front of her, ranting about how could he love her. Moonrose remained silent as she yelled, knowing the female well enough to know that she needed to let it all out. She couldn't stop her from yelling, but knew she would have to let her. Bottling things up was not good for someone, she knew that all too well. She had done that often to herself and it did her no good. She sighed, "Don't be in denial, Kaly, it's not good for you." Her voice had a light tease to it, but she was also serious. Denying things was a terrible way to find the truth of something, especially if one was ignorant about it all.
Moonrose felt her huff run over her muzzle, the warmth of it tickling her skin. Silently, she stood up and looked the smaller Lyxxus right in the eye. "I know him, Kaly. Something like this would frighten him. He's afraid to admit it to you because he hasn't known such love before. Not even his own pack gave him any kind of love, not even his own mother. They almost killed him several times. He is scared. Wouldn't you be?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,502,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i369/mo_avalon/WonderWhy/kalybg.png]Snow, when would this end? It wasn’t as if she didn’t have ways to warm herself up, because she did, but it made already difficult hunting even more difficult. She did not have the body of a Yagi, or even a lupus, sturdy and built for taking down larger prey, Kaly whether she wanted to admit it or not was small, a rabbit was about as big as she was going to ever take down, at least without help. The realization made her hunch her shoulders down in tension as she was faced with the hard reality that size does matter. To Moon’s comment about her tails being lovely she simply snorted in disgust..Yeah she could just see how pretty she would be, walking with one tail drooping like a limp paw and the other sticking straight out..or some other horrible combination which would only further to make her look like an idiot. The idea that she might look like one at all just made her teeth clack together in a fit of mental temper. This whole growing thing was supposed to bring her more experiences and better things happening, so far it was only the addition of a broken heart, and an uncooperative tail.
“I’m not so sure this is the same thing Moonrose. I am sure after traumatic episodes in your life, as you said everyone goes through them. But this is different, its like I am hallucinating or something horrible. I see things, I see wolves I know, things happening to them. I see signs when I look at leaves, or trees, or the sky. When I am trying to sleep these visions plague and haunt me! I don’t think every other wolf goes through this process. Yes learning to control it, learning to get over bad things happening, yes that’s one thing but its just not the same…! I’m sitting here losing my mind, I don’t even have the capabilities of going to sleep without something bad happening to me! Its probably the reason why I am so cranky lately!” She could tell by looking at Moonrose that the female had probably had her fair share of torture or bad things happening to her, of that she had no doubt, but where she had ended up after all that? With a power that could essentially help her bring down the largest prey, fight beyond many other wolves, hell she could make herself fly if she wanted to….for Kaly it would be worth the scars.
Now Kaly didn’t talk much with other members of the pack but no wolf within the pack was without knowledge of Moon’s great deed to the pack. Now she had gotten the scars defending a now prisoner of the pack that was true, but the bright red female Guardian beside her had fought valiantly against a loner who had trespassed into the pack’s lands. As such even though she had come through with just a bit more than her life, Kaly still considered it worth it. “You are always going to be remembered though Moonrose, you have a legacy now, not only within the pack but with that loner as well. I am sure she will never forget how you fought!” For Kaly the call of glory was indeed something she wanted, and had it have been her she would have worn the scars proudly around other members showing off just what she walked away from the fight with. Her tails began to wag back and forth appreciatively of Moon trusting her enough to tell her these things. They had indeed come a long way.
She felt herself instantly relax and breathe out a sigh of relief when Moonrose said she loved Nocht in a different way then Brightness, and that more then anything else she considered Brightness as a brother, massive as he was. Kaly sighed outwardly, and she didn’t even care that Moonrose could know that she was relieved. Kaly did not want to share Brightness with any wolf, especially if they were female. The fact that they weren’t talking right now didn’t change how Kaly felt, and she could still be as possessive as she wanted to be, even if he wasn’t there with her….she hoped deep within herself that they wouldn’t be parted for forever, because she didn’t know what she would do with herself. Slowly but surely she was gaining friends but not enough to make her feel like she actually belonged to the pack in any substantial way. She stopped and looked at Moon for a long moment when she said to not be in denial and in that moment she stopped right in front of Moon and lay down her nose touching the edges of Moon’s paws as she looked up at her. Moon was larger because she was older but Kaly also had pressed herself as close to the ground as possible in exasperation.
Soon though Moon was standing, and Kaly was looking up at her as she explained that she knew Brightness and that he was scared. The comment stopped Kaly from further ranting as she listened to how his own family had tried to kill him and that he probably didn’t know what love really was. Her ears went back against her skull as she thought about it, and how he must feel. A part of her truly felt bad for ranting and feeling the way she did but instead in a small and petulant voice she said, “But I am scared too….I don’t want him to never want to see me again…” Her voice near cracked with the emotion she felt overwhelmed by. “I’m scared too..” It was an admission totally out of the blue but she looked up at Moonrose, suddenly looking very puppy-like, “What are you going to do to let Nocht know you love him? Are you going to have puppies? Are YOU going to live that happily ever after nonsense? |
