So much seemed to have happened since she ad returned to the pack after her pilgrimage. She had a new view on life, as well as more confidence than when she was counted as a 'nothing' in they eyes of the pack. The soft spoken hybrid had a lot of growth in her short life. Her soft brown eyes gazed up at the blue sky. She had sprawled herself out on one of the bone-white rocks of the area. Her leathery wings were open and away from her back so she could lay back without crushing her precious wing joints. Not that a broken wing would be bad for her. Her left one was already crippled and deformed, she would never know the joys of flying, for she was born with that grotesque attachment. Had she had a full set of wings, they would have been magnificent to behold. Her soft gray coloration was accented with browns and pinks. She even had a few scales that glimmered in the sunlight. Yes, she was hybrid, she looked more like a dragon than a wolf, yet no reptilian blood ran in her veins. She was a mix of a keiyou and a cael. Both parents had either forgotten her, or decided that they wanted nothing more to do with her. Truth be told, she had known most of her life without them anyway. She hardly even remembered what her cael mother looked like... What on odd thought. Her brow wrinkled a little, as if she was troubled by the fact that she could not recall her mother's face. Her father's was well emblazoned in her mind. She had seen him not long ago, and for the first time, she had stood up against him and voiced her opinion about him to his face. She shook her head and tried to regain her relaxation. She had been stuffed up in her cave....the cave, too long lately. She needed a break from her studies and what better way to do that than to bask in the sunlight. She rolled over onto her belly, careful of her wing and a half. She opened them once more, enjoying the creeping warmth on her pale pelt. Her thick, almost reptilian tail curled and twitched back and forth like a lazy cat's. She wondered where her favorite pupil was. It was odd to call him favorite though, he really was the only one who had expressed interest in learning. A small smile slipped onto her pretty may at the thought of him. He was a pawful, that much was certain. Today was a day of reflection it seemed. She thought of her own mentor, and the smile faded. Where had he gone? It had been weeks since she had seen him last. She decided not to dwell on it and turned her cheek to feel the coolness of the powdery rock beneath her. She figured she was safe to sunbathe here today, she had not heard any talk of a meeting , but if there was one she was already here. Again her thought wandered, this time to the High Chief and his family. How was it that the old keiyou had changed so much since he was pup-sitting her in the whelping den? Three years was a long time, she concluded, long enough for her to grow, mature and come out of her shell. If she could change, why not him? With that thought she pushed the pack members out of her mind and continued her semi-nap in the sun. She needed rest to rejuvenate herself and prepare her mind for another evening of attempting to write. She had a tentative grasp on the language of the pack. She was one of three wolves that could read it. One of which was no longer present in the packlands. The task was daunting and required rigorous practice. For now she was taking a break, before she returned to her den she would have to eat something as well. Her list seemed to ever be growing, yet she was steadfast in her decision to nap in the sun.
