It was cold, colder than Angel would have liked it to be. It didn't help being out in the open air and flurries of snow dusting the ground. But at least the could numbed her shoulder, which was still healing from the Calagris attack. Which was the reason she was out at the edge of the valley in the cold where there were no trees to shield her. The attack had really wounded her father and that scared her more than she was willing to admit. For what felt like forever she thought she was going to loose him.
Of course there were healers and the Queen to look after him, and all of their guardians but Angel needed to feel like she could help some how. But being a little one meant she had few options. She was still training to become a guardian. Not considered full fledged. It sucked, that was the only way to describe it. It sucked that she was so young, so inexperienced. It sucked that she felt there was nothing she could do to help him. So she had come out to patrol, make sure no other awful creatures would make it into their territory.
Angel wasn't stupidly brave or anything, she knew that if anything showed up, to fly away and retrieve help. The young white Keiyou was just trying to be proactive.
The snow had begun to add up, making the ground slippery. The paw she had injured in the Calagris fight was still tender and sore. She reckoned she had twisted it and briefly had it looked over. Immediately after the battle she had thought the small thing was broken. That had worried her because she didn't want it to set wrong while the healers had attend to her father. It was that paw that slipped now, sending Angel toppling down the hill. She scrabbled as she slid, trying to right her self and utterly failing, her wings flailing about.
Reaching a stop she stood, embarrassed and glad that no one had seen her. She had been quite the clumsy pup but had improved greatly from then. She had been subjected to many falls, not everyone going unseen. Angel shook herself, ridding her person of snow and dirt. Only the snow was instantly replaced by new flakes. Her dark wings looking speckled. She shivered and tucked her wings in close. It was really colder than Angel would have liked.

His pale nose wrinkled as he smelt the musky scent of the pack, especially of Reynard's but his scent was rather old. Why? He had assumed that Reynard would be quite defensive now that he knew his rival was back but his scent told him otherwise. Now that he thought about it, he hadn't scented him anywhere either. There was a light frown on his pale face; it was odd. Very odd indeed. After a few moments of pondering, he shook himself. He shouldn't care about that lanky keiyou too much. He had banished him from this valley and deemed him dangerous. He scoffed at the thought even though it made him a little more happier. Dangerous? A weak, old keiyou? Sure. He smiled at this.
He pushed his paws through the dense layer of snow and shivered. It was the coldest day he had endured since... whenever. It was fine for many others as they have each other to cuddle up but for him... He had no home, no company, and no warmth. Great. Karma did really bit him in the arse. He continued to push himself further in a desperate attempt to search for a shelter. That was when a small explosion of snow distracted him. Then he saw a white keiyou shaking herself and looked around her self-consciously. Draugur smirked; he had seen her clumsy appearance when she thought no one hadn't. Well, in her defence, he blended well in the snowy background and white sky with his albino coat. He saw her dark wings and it sparked a memory in his mind. She was... was... He shook his head in a pathetic attempt to bring the fading memory out.
Still with his brain searching for her in his mind, Draugur sauntered up to the black winged keiyou while he was smirking: "Did you have a nice trip on the way here?" His pink eyes washed all over her small body and, as soon as his eyes were on the wings again his eyes widened with a realisation. Those were the wings of Reynard! She must be Angel! He last saw her when she was littler than this. How much she had grown! Angel must be just over two right now and a mature adult now. That made him felt old. "Angel?" He raised his wings and they opened slightly just above him, "How is your father?" There was a mischievous grin on his face. If this pup... no... wolf was as naive as she was before she could be an useful source of information.

Startled, Angel jumped, pale yellow eyes wide. Her face heated up with embarrassment and her ears folded back as the white Keiyou approached her. There was something distinctly familiar about him but the youth couldn't quite put her paw on it. "I-," she choked. He had seen her fall and was teasing her! Angel had never been teased before. Indignant she was about to tell him off (what she would have said, even she didn't know) when he seemed to recognize her.
"How do you-," she took a good look at him. What was it? Did she know him? "Father is.... alright. He'll be alright,"she said. She hadn't exactly realized what she had said, her mind trying to comfort her. Her worry had seeped into all of her thoughts it seemed.
"Who- Do I know you?" she backed up some, getting a bad feeling. Something about his eyes and that smile didn't quite bode well in Angel's mind. She tried to dig deeper into her memory but the cold kept breaking her concentration.
It had been easier to stay warm when she was moving but now she was stagnate and the snow was falling harder. She sneezed daintily, eyes squeezing shut for just a moment. White, there weren't very many white wolves. Yueh, Angel, Loca, who else. There was another right? He was important but Angel had never really payed attention to the political struggles of the pack. What could she say, ignorance was bliss. It was then she remembered her duty to her pack. Her embarrassment worsened as she tried to regain her dignity, not that there was much there to begin with. "Who are you and what is your business with the Children of Hvítur Ári," She tried to sound cool and distant, like the guardian she wanted to be, instead it came out nervous and a bit forced. Worriedly she wondered if she had done that right.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,466,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h448/soarly/Wonderwhy/Tables/draugback.png]Draugur smirked as he saw that he had caught Angel off guard. The last thing anyone would want, after doing something silly, was to have someone watching and laughing at them. Right now, unfortunately for Angel, Draugur was watching and laughing. But at the same time he was amazed with how she grown even though she evidently still was as clumsy as a pup. He could still remember her, small, fragile and very white. But anything other than that he could not remember. He had been very preoccupied with... pack business. That and she had been a quiet child. He was still smirking when he saw her anger being subsided into curiosity. He twitched his ears, his smile was being slowly replaced with interest. She didn't know who he was. What the hell?! She was there when he was the High Chief! He felt like leaping at her and shake her until she remembered. When was his name being erased from the history?! Hell, he founded the pack so it did not make sense that the pack had forgotten him.
He inhaled and exhaled slowly but his breathing stopped for a moment suddenly when he heard her comment about Reynard. He would be alright? What? Why? What had happened to him? He had asked that question with a mischievous intent but he had never imagined that that question would bring something unexpected. Reynard's life had always been quite dull so knowing he had been up to something had intrigued him. "What? What's wrong with him?" There was something akin to genuine concern in his voice and this pissed him off. No matter how much he denied or laughed it off he actually liked Reynard. That was the reason he got really furious when he saw him on his throne; he had really hurt him. Reynard had stabbed him in the back.
He growled briefly when Angel asked if she knew him. His hackles rose with the annoyance of being a nobody. He could not stand not being known. With his voice losing its previous scorn, Draugur answered, "You should." His voice had lost all of their previous cheerfulness and, as result, his voice was a little cold. He suddenly saw that the snow was still falling, making the world more whiter. But he didn't care about this. All he cared was to see if she remembered him. She had to. He sat down and felt the icy coldness against his haunches but he ignored it. His tail flicked the snow everywhere behind him with several irritated twitches. When she made it clear that she did not know him, which was obvious after her demand to know his name and his business, he let out a shout of annoyance and walked abruptly for a few metres away from Angel.
He whipped around and moved towards the other white keiyou, not stopping until his nose was in front of her own. That was when he snarled: "Does the name 'Draugur' ring any bells in up there what you call your brain?!" He snapped his jaws shut, his teeth gnashing together before spitting: "Draugur the first and true High Chief not the bastard of your father!" He narrowed his eyes in a mixture of both satisfaction and irritation. "Now you know!" He turned away from her quite roughly that Angel's face was in a risk of being whipped by his tufted tail. "I know your name. And you were a small, silly and furry lump of life. I created the Children yet you do not know my name!" He faced her to scream those words before finally breathing heavily. He certainly could not stand being a nobody.

Angel felt her face heat up once again with embarrassment as the elder Keiyou raged. It all clicked now, where she remembered him from. Really, how could she be so stupid. Then again, Angel had never cared for all the hoo ha of the pack when she was little. No she had been too busy on her little adventures, going on expeditions just to get her fathers attention. She hadn't really cared about anyone else. And really, Draugur had been gone so long that he had slipped her mind.
If she really thought about it she remembered him at the pack meeting. That had been a fiasco. He had been hostile then too. She took a few steps back, not wanting to be so close. He had abandoned the pack right? Angel wasn't sure, though if she wanted to be a guardian than she would have to get more involved in the goings on of the back.
The only thing that stopped her from full out sprinting off to find someone to help was the faint concern in his voice for Reynard. She was suspicious, but if he cared that meant he couldn't be all bad. Maybe her notion of him was just a misconception. She swallowed. Not according to the cave paintings. Could someone like that really change?
"W-Well excuse me, I was little and silly. I'm better now," she puffed out her chest, trying to be like the guardian she so desperately wanted to be, "And I remember you now. I also remember your little disturbance at the pack meeting." She turned to the side, circling him some. It was hard to look not scared but she hoped he didn't notice, "Why should I tell you what happened to my father? Would you just use whatever you learned against him?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,466,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h448/soarly/Wonderwhy/Tables/draugback.png]Draugur let out a sigh which formed into a misty breath in front of his nose. Well, what was he expecting? This Angel must be pretty soft minded, forgetting him and his... trouble in that meeting not too long ago. He sat down heavily on the snow, again feeling the coldness spreading around his backside again. He twitched his ears, first Lupa and now Angel, this feeling of being forgotten bothered him. It was as if everything he had worked so hard for was nothing significant. He glanced up at her when she moved backwards. With a sneer: "I'm not going to hurt you." He shook his head, so pathetic. A keiyou that was bigger than him was scared of him?! She, despite her slenderness, could best him easily since Draugur didn't have any fighting knowledge. It was obvious that she was nervous but what wasn't obvious was why didn't she run? Any sensible wolf would dash off to ask for the help and/or warn the pack. So she must be too coward to do so... Or too brainless. Either way, he was suspicious of her.
He raised a brow when Angel did another pathetic attempt to make herself appear courageous. What she said had confirmed his initial thoughts of her. Better? He rolled his eyes. She was a perfect example of what he saw females as; weak, gullible and pathetic. She then went on about the pack meeting. "Ah. That. I wouldn't call it a disturbance. More like a... claiming something that is mine." He raised his head slowly and watched the circling keiyou. "Hm, perhaps because I'm seeking for his weakness... Or maybe I do actually care." He shook his head; "I already know that there's something wrong with him. Now I know that it would be easy to attack the pack while he's down." He raised his brows and a sly smile on his face; "You told me enough." The words sounded accusing but he meant none of it. Draugur was just pleased that Angel had told him something, even if it was from her displaying concern for her father.
He narrowed his eyes. "Honestly, I would be up there," He pointed at the Heimili Forest, "ruling over the Children again already if I wanted to." He raised his head and tail swept behind him, brushing snow aside. He hoped he appeared sincere because everything he had just said was a lie. He had struggled with ideas to take Reynard and his loyal supporters down ever since that meeting. If he was being honest he loved the idea of bringing Reynard down than being a High Chief again. He looked up at Angel and met her pale eyes when the idea hit him. She was the daughter of Reynard so perhaps he could use him to strike her father a heavy blow. He didn't want to kill her; she appeared so innocent (no matter annoying it could be) and she was so big. After all, though a death would affect him badly, but not as bad as her liking him. He smiled, liking the idea. It would hurt Reynard to know that his daughter preferred his enemy over him. He allowed this idea to linger in his mind; this should be easy with her naive mind. "Now do you trust me not to run off to finish your father off?" There was a proud smirk on his face.

Angel sniffed when he said wasn't going to hurt her. The young kieyou didn't know why he intimidated her. Maybe it was because he was older, and he had known her as a pup. Or maybe because she knew he had once commanded her pack. There was no way she could be certain she could trust him, but it wasn't like he could do anything to harm her father. Not with the whole pack standing behind him. Something Draugur no longer had. The faith of his pack.
She couldn't bring herself to hate him though. The same way she couldn't hate her new siblings that had been suddenly thrust upon her. She even slightly felt pity for the older wolf. He was so convinced that the Children was still his. Pale eyes softened.
"The Children is no longer yours. Father has the pack behind him and you don't. They would side with him before you. They know him better," she said solemnly. Though he would probably find it insulting Angel was only stating the truth. Maybe she could get him to move on and stop hating her father for stepping up to the role the albino had left behind.
"And that is the reason no harm will come of me saying this. There was a calagris attack," she informed him," father was injured quite badly, but he's on the mend. The four of us took the beast down." She gingerly licked the healing wound on her shoulder, the fur had began to grow back making it less noticeable. Talking about it made it twinge in slight pain, the cold didn't help either, and all this standing around was making her shiver.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | | He was alarmed when he saw Angel's gaze got softer. She must be pitying him! He shook his head incredulously, this was getting silly. He had a lot more experiences than this young wolf, and he did not need any pity. His hackles rose and his wings unfurled to make himself appear bigger to show her that he wasn't a helpless elder. But then her words hit him like a ton of stones. She was speaking of nothing else except for whole truth. Draugur calmed down; his wings closed against his sides neatly. He was staring at Angel but there was nothing aggressive or defensive in his gaze. There was only realisation in his pale eyes. It all made sense really. That was the very reason wolves would leap at Reynard's defence when Draugur interrupted that pack meeting. He did not recognise most of the faces in the meeting, it was because they joined the pack after he left. So the wolves never knew him. But that didn't explain why Reynard never taught them the history of their pack.
The Children of Hvítur Ári was founded as a learning pack and now it seemed as if the orange keiyou restructured the Children as a family orientated pack. He wrinkled his muzzle, the pack was encouraging wolves to breed like rabbits and was happy to have multiple puppies running around. That was just... wrong, really. But since Reynard had deemed Draugur an outcast and changed the pack the albino keiyou could do nothing for now. At least Reynard was too hurt to make any more changes now. "There was a calagris attack." "What?" He leapt to his paws, an alpha's sense of protecting the pack overwhelmed him. "When?" The only thing that stopped him from running was the fact that the beast was dead. Calagris was an unpleasant beast that often runs in a pack. He was surprised to hear it took only four of the wolves to kill this one. But then this animal must be quite young and inexperienced.
He frowned as he saw how cold Angel appeared and that was when he saw the scars. Those looked quite big and bothersome. But he scoffed at this; a good Guardian, like the one this female wanted to be, must not show her weakness, especially in front of someone your pack had banished. "You shouldn't show how much pain you're in." The annoying smirk was back on his mouth, "I can see how this cold is bothering you so you should go back to your dear pack to curl up in your dear warm den." His words were heavy with sarcasm. She could do this but he couldn't. For her, her den must be a few minutes of flying time but for him it would take a few hours to reach the canyon. Perhaps more as he was starting to feel the cold seeping into his wing bones, almost immobilising them.

Watching the range of emotions that danced across the the elder kieyou's face drew Angel's curious side to the surface. There was so much more to this wolf than what she originally thought. He still cared for the Children even though they either no longer wanted him or knew not who he was. It was and admirable trait. Would she still care for a back that no longer wanted her? She couldn't tell, she had never been in that situation and hopefully never would be.
"Not to long ago," she informed him, finding it odd to be having a somewhat civil conversation with him. She almost enjoyed it. But then he had to go and ruin the moment. Angel was embarrassed that she hadn't hidden her discomfort more. More so by the condescension and sarcastic tone in his voice.
She sniffed and fluffed herself up. He was right, it was cold, and this conversation could only lead to nothing good. She should go home. The young female was boarding in treasonous with this short conversation with her unexpected guest. Made worse by the fact that she hadn't chased him off. Though she wasn't ashamed that she hadn't. In fact, Angel had though she learned quite a number of things about the former High Chief.
"Your right, I should go," she said her tone clipped to let him know that he had offended her. Angel turned to walk away but glanced coyly of over her shoulder to the smaller male, " If you ever want an update on how the pack is holding up without you, well you know where to find me."
With that said she took off, pumping her charcoal wings and kicking up flurries of snow. Maybe she would see Draugur again, maybe she wouldn't. Angel secretly hoped that she would.
((I figured it would be a good idea to end the thread here because I took so bloody long to reply and the seasons have changed. I'm sorry!!!))
