Nagami hesitated. She knew that she should go back to yvit cove to train herself further, but she felt a certain pull towards this peculiar pack. She slowly made her way downhill, searching for any signs of wolf activity. A stick cracked, causing her to jump. She was downwind, but still took every step with care. Maby she could find a mentor.
Nagami paused, feeling th esoft ground under her feet, and the wind ruffling her fur. Her ears moved like twin radars, listening for threats. How should she introduce herself? Should she...howl? Or maby... find the pack leader? She decided to wait until a wolf came by. She smelled wolves very near. Nagami decided to get closer, and in her exitement, forgot to stay hidden. Too late she realised her mistake, for she was now out in the open, and everyone could seee her.
She scrambled backwards hastily, and crashed into a pile of sticks. She turned tail and ran, greatly embarrased. She soon had to slow down, for her bum leg was burning like it was on fire. Nagami limped over to a fallen tree and lay under it, hoping she would not be found. She didn't know what kind of wolf the leader was, and she feared that he would not tolerate wolves like herself.
Nagami would have to wait and see what unfolds.

A small herd of deer were passing through, unmolested for the moment. However a pair of blue eyes watched them from a distance. The tall, lanky keiyou held his wings tightly to his side as his gaze moved over the herd. He needed more hunters to take down kills like that. His sons did their part when they were able, but the elder, adopted, two seemed more interested in wandering lately, and the youngest were busy helping their mother with the new litter. The old male gave a heavy sigh, this was prime time to be stocking up their food stores, while game was ample. His lion-tail twitched as he watched the herd move on. As a half-blind keiyou he had no hope of taking down a deer on his own. He needed his pack to do it.
He shook out his red-orange pelt and continued his patrol. Since he had been rendered grounded by his eye injury, he had not been able to fly his patrols like he was once able. So his long, black legs carried him over the tall grasses near the edge of the valley. He could fly short distances at low altitudes, but that was the extent of it. The scar across the right side of his face made him look more rugged, especially with the clouded over eye that was in the gouges. However the rest of his face, though graying, remained friendly enough.
A sudden movement spooked the deer, he turned as they ran off. Was someone attempting to hunt? His good see searched for the movement, he could see some dark form rushing away. He sniffed the air...damn, he was upwind. He did not catch the scent. Since he did not recognize them from afar he decided to pursue. Yes, this was right on the border of his pack lands, but with new puppies in the den, he did not want to risk intruders slinking past the borders undetected. Since his Guardians were not around at the moment, it was up to him to chase off or greet a new wolf.
His long legs carried him easily enough, though more awkward on the ground, he was still able to keep relatively good time. Occasionally he would jump and open his large black wings to glide a few feet. Soon he came upon the spot where he had seen the movement begin. He put his black nose to the ground to pick up the scent left behind. No, he did not know this scent, nor did it carry pack with it. He followed the scent, it was fresh, a female. He folded his wings to his lean sides as he came into a thicket of sorts.
Once the scent was strongest, he paused and looked around. His nose was telling him that his quarry was near. He stopped, making sure he was in a relatively open space to avoid an ambush. Clearing his throat, he announced his presence, "Hello. I know you are hiding here, come out so I can see you." His voice was oily and charming, his age adding a distinguished tone to it. He opened his wings partly, to appear bigger in case the stranger wanted to attack him. He waited silently, his large black ears flickering at each noise he heard.

Nagami heard the reasurring voice tell her to reveal herself. She thoutgh about it, and decided to come out. She crawled out of the brush and shook out her pelt. Standi ng beforeher was a flaming orange keyiou with oily black wings. She looked at his blue eyes and felt and air of importance around him. Nagami guessed that he was the pack leader, because of his posture.
"I.. I'm sorry about tresspassing. I was just trying to see what the pack was like. I was thinking about asking you if I could join."Nagami realised that she could be of use. "Actually, I wanted to help. I don't mind being of low rank. I coul be a hunter. You see, I'm good at hunting, but I have no where to put them to use."
Nagami felt a little braver. She wagged her tail. "I could benifet the clan. When I go hunting, I do it alone, so I adapt pretty easily to most conditions."
Nagami looked hopefully at the wolf. She knew she shouldn't join a clan yet; she needed training. But she couldn't help but seek out someone to talk to. This could be her chance. She looked into the wolf's eyes, hoping for a positive answer.

His good eye gleamed with kindness, though he had reservations, as he always did with stranger in his realm. He looked down at her, sure he had five inches of height on her, but she out weighed him by close to one hundred pounds. The elderly keiyou studied the younger wolf before him. She couldn't be much older than his sons. He needed strong, young wolves in his pack. He did not have to say anything for her to start spewing information out at him. He waited for her to finish speaking. Usually he had to ask wolves what they could do for him, she was coming right out and giving him her status.
"You were not quite trespassing, but thank you for apologizing. It just so happens that I have a need of hunters." He looked her up and down, wondering how well she worked in a group. She seemed to be coming out of her shell quicker than he anticipated. Adaptability was well and good, as long as it didn't lead to overreaching later. "Hunting alone is fine, but I would want you to hunt with the pack as well. We need to be taking down larger game. The pack is large, full of hungry mouths that cannot always get out and hunt. I need wolves to hunt for all of the pack, not just themselves." Seeing no threat in her at this point, he quietly folded his wings to his lean flanks.
"I'm Reynard, by the by, I am the High Chief of the Children of Hvítur Ári." He felt he did not have to explain that he was the leader, he had gotten really good at holding himself properly. That and his scent was all over the place. "You seem like you would fit in pretty well in my pack. We have an assortment of wolves, big and small, all friendly enough. If you would give your loyalty to me and mine, I will allow you to fall into my ranks. " His thin tail twitched, the white tuft catching the light faintly.
He sat back on his narrow hips, adopting a more conversational demeanor. He wanted her to be comfortable. "Since you plan on joining, do you have any questions that I could answer?" He wanted her to be as informed as she could be, though he also wanted to make sure she could ask the right questions.

"No. All that I need to know is if you have any mentors for me. You see, I need someone to teach me my full capability in gravity." Nagami said. She was thrilled that the wolf had let her into the pack, but also slightly confused. She didn't know what to say.
"Thank you for letting me into your pack. I'll try to be the best I can." Nagami said. "What should I do now?" Nagami was unsure if she should start hunting, or go to the pack and get to know the wolves. Nagami didn't want to mess up and end up right back where she started. And then there's the matter of having a mentor. It seemed like everything would change after being in a pack, including herself. There was so many things that still need to be accomplished.
"Could I still go to Yvit cove? I sometimes need to be alone." Nagami had always loved the cove, because there she could be alone, like in the past. Sometimes she would lay down and dream of her lessons with her grandfather. She still had so much to explore and find. If she couldn't go to the cove, she might not be herself ever again. Being alone was one of the things she needed to stay herself.
Nagami sat down and thought of all the things to come, good, and bad.

Maybe she was one of those wolves that learned by doing rather than being told how things went. He would still try to give her as much information as he could though, just so he felt he was not being neglectful to her. He shifted his weight slightly to get more comfortable.
"Mentors we have. Though specifically in gravity I am afraid I cannot say much. We have one lupus, Oscar, who controls gravity. However I have not seen him since before winter. Next time I hold a meeting, if I see him there, I will point him out to you. We have other fine lupus that can help you hone your power in a more broad spectrum. Coneiron is my First Guardian, he may look young but he is about as old as I am and gifted in his element."
He paused, realizing that he had either forgotten, or had not heard her name. "Forgive an old wolf, but what was your name again?" He really hoped he was not going senile. He was lacking in some sleep with the new pups romping about. "And as for what you can do now, just make yourself at home. Meet other wolves, get comfortable with the borders." His large ears twitched a little as a fly buzzed past. He wasn't sure what else to say, aside 'hunt' but that seemed a little blunt on a first meeting.
He tilted his head curiously at her final question, he didn't see any harm in it, aside that dangers that lurked out there. "Well, you are not forbidden from traveling around if you so desire. Just be careful of predators and polite at other pack's borders." The topic of other packs made him pause, he should inform her of the alliances, "Our pack is on friendly terms with the wolves of the lake, the Centena Accord. We are allies with the Cadre and the Enclave. At the moment the Cadre is seeking refuse in the Taiga, the Enclave's territory. " He paused, making sure to emphasis his next point, "I strongly advise that you steer clear of the Jungle. The Hellion Mafia are not a friendly bunch, I do not want to lose my pack to those scum. They will kill you if you cross their borders." His tone took on a fatherly air for that part.
"The Cove also has it's dangers, so be wary, especially at the water's edge. Blind serpents will snatch you up and eat you, if they detect you. You are not the only one of my pack members that ventures there for solitude, so you can at least have traveling companions in getting there." He licked his lips once he was finished speaking, taking a break from speaking and waiting for more questions.

"Oh. My name is Naga, short for Nagami." Nagami said. She listened to what else the keiyou said. She was surprised to hear of the Mafia. She'd definitely keep to the children's territory. She didn't know of blind serpents in the cove, and that gave her all the more reason to stay away from the water.
"I do have another question. Does your pack have a kind of code, or some specific rule?" Nagami was a little anxious to know, because she had been raised in an area away from most packs. She didn't know what went on in packs that were organized and official. She also was curious about any rituals or holidays. She shuffled her feet.
"And where do I put the prey I catch?" Nagami realized that she had no idea how a pack works. She had an idea, but that was all. Her tail waved slightly, catching the breeze that was picking up. She looked at the keiyou. He looked friendly and patient, but Nagami was beginning to wish that she had a way to catch up on the last few years of the packs that wouldn't take hours to tell. If only she had been born in a pack. That would have been so much easier.
She thought that she probably should start hunting after this. "Who do I hunt with, and where?" Nagami didn't know who was a hunter, and who wasn't.

His ears twitched to catch her name, Nagami. Naga had a nice ring to it, he would most likely take to calling her that. He was fond of shortening names after all. He was glad, at least that she was willing to listen.
Her next question gave him pause, he even tilted his head a little to show his confusion, "A code?" He shook his head, "Well, no, we are kind of laid back. I just ask that you work as a team, respect fellow pack members and listen to the higher ranks when the need arises. Don't cause trouble, I guess. Feel free to come to anyone if you feel threatened or what not. We try to look out for one another here." The scar down the side of his face was evidence of that. Clearly he had received it from a predator that would have killed him if he were alone at the time. His pack fought to defend him, and to take down the calagris that dared to attack.
"Now and then we do have gatherings to celebrate random thing, it has been a while though. Maybe when the summer gets in full swing we will have a festival. " He just hoped that he would avoid the fermented berries this time. He had a few too many that night and had several litters of pups to prove it. He loved his children dearly, however his relationships with two females had been near the death of him. But that was so long ago.
The breeze ruffled his vibrant fur as she carried on with questions, "It's nice to bring the prey to the forest, that's where the dens are. However if you and the hunters bring down something larger that is too big to transport, just give a howl to announce it and the hungry will come. When winter starts beginning, we make caches around the den site in case we find ourselves lacking in the grips of winter. " He was beginning to wonder what kind of life she had had in the past to make her so uncertain of pack life. He felt it best not to pry and just continued listening to her questions.
"Hunt where ever you catch scent of prey, just make sure it is in the borders or in the neutral areas. We do not want to be poaching from other packs. Friend or foe. As for who, well, three of my hunters I have not seen in some time. The other three are my sons, Nocht, Altan and Blasien. But the guardians will help out if you cannot find those three. I ask all ranks to help where ever they can, even if it it not in there niche. I ask the same of you now as well." Hunters were good at running errands and tracking things that needed finding, at least the ones he had seemed to be.

OCC: Um, Can Rey answer Nagami's questions and then we can end this thread? I kinda already started a new one.
"Okay. Thanks!"Nagami said. She looked out into the distance and felt a shiver of excitement. There was so much to do, so much to explore! "Well, I guess I should go and meet the pack, right?" Nagami asked. Many scenes ran across her mind, showing possible encounters and conversations. "Where should I start?"
Nagami looked around at the beautiful scenery. She breathed in deeply, scenting the air. It smelled of warmth and grasses. Already it felt like home. "Before I go, can you tell me of any wolves I should avoid, or wolves that have gone missing?" Nagami knew that she shouldn't just go up to any wolf before knowing if he/she is supposed to contact anyone. Nagami needed to know if any wolves are missing or ran away. If she ran in to someone who should be taken back to the pack, but she didn't know it, she could get in trouble.
Nagami knew that a prisoner or a runaway was possible to be in this pack, but who? Nagami shook herself, sending bits of pollen that had been previously stuck to her pelt. She sneezed and shook her head in annoyance. Her black fur sometimes acted as a pollen magnet. Nagami wondered what would happen after she was done talking with Reynard. Anything, she thought.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/ReynardSoarTableMid.png] The old male watched as the eagerness in the young wolfess seemed to finally come out. It brought a slight smirk to his dark face. "Yes, you can start mingling to your heart's content. Start where ever your nose takes you." He stood and stretched out a raven-black wing, pointing the primaries toward the distant forest. "You can find the den sites there. Since it is getting warmer you can try to river. There are countless places to explore here. Just be mindful that not everyone will warm up to you right away."
With an effort he stretched out his wings and legs, attempting to ease the cramps from sitting. "I myself do need to get going, have borders to mark and watch." He turned to leave, though her final question about the unsavory in the area made him turn back to look at her. "Avoid the hybrid, Ebony. She is a rouge that has been seen trespassing. She is wanted for harming one of my best guardians. If you see her, do not engage her, merely alert the guardians. She has an odd power I hear....she...changes her form. But she is a large, dark colored wolf." He had not seen Ebony, or her power, but he trusted his son and Moonrose to tell it true.
He licked his black lips, "I would also avoid the keiyou, Draugur. He used to rule this pack...and has not quite accepted his demotion. He may smell of the pack...but he is not one of us any longer. He is albino; white with red eyes. " He searched his brain, trying to think of any other names to warn her off. He came up short and just flashed a charming smile, "Just be cautious around non pack wolves that may venture too close to the border. "
He pondered over if any wolves were missing, "Yes, wolves are missing....but some come and go as they please. If they choose to leave on their own volition I cannot stop them, as long as they do not harm my pack. I will not hunt deserters down like some packs in the area..." His gaze wandered south, toward the jungle. He shook his head and turned back to her once again, "I hope you settle in nicely. If you need anything do not hesitate to ask."
With that, he turned and began to walk away, continuing his patrol of the territory.
