The sun was high in the sky, telling that it was mid-day. Wind was a constant issue, blowing the high weeds and tall grass all around her. The blades of the grass only irritated her pelt, to the point her slow gamble became a full fledged run. Running across the field panting excitedly, her tongue lolled from the side of her jowls as her gait slowed to a prance and then to swift padding, as she fought her way out of the blades. Stopping for a few seconds, she shook out her smooth onyx fur to rid of the irritation.
Fire like eyes looked around the area surveying it as she came to a clearing with low grass, and now she was sticking out like a sore thumb in the wind; but did she care? Not at all. She was covered with many scars already from her adventures of lonership. Pantera was full of life and beating with energy, right from the core of her soul. She couldn't help it, she was feeling quite high strung at the moment pumped of adrenaline; and was always on the go. She was the type of wolf that never stopped. She was the wolf that got others moving, pumped up or pissed with her because of her high drive, and yet few only returned to keep up with her boundless source of energy. It would catch up with her sooner or later, and Pantera ceased to believe that she would be a victim of harsh arthritis a few years down the road; breathing issues, and a bad heart when she gets old and feeble. That was then though, this was now; and she was enjoying the now, living life to its fullest.
Time seemed to stand at a still as she stopped in her tracks looking around. Where in the heck was she? She had been traveling for days, and yet it seemed longer than that, as she hadn't really stopped but to only quench her thirst with running rivers and feasting on small mammals to keep her going. One thing she learned real young was to never rest until you found legitimate shelter, such as a vacant den. However Pantera was good at holding her own, and was smart enough to round off to safety when need be.
The sky was bright blue, and light clouds placed themselves like smoke. Her eyes looked downward and forward as she flipped her right ear on content, then offered a twitch of her tail before moving on. Her digits firmly kissing the ground as she padded slowly looking around as if to enjoy the scenic route for once. Jaws closed and she licked one side of her jaws to the next wetting her nose. Her body was of neutral stance, keeping a low tail, but an alert upper body as her slow padding came back to a speedy pace. Just as she sped herself up, she heard a rustling in the bushes nearby; it was a hare feeding on the grass and bounding away from Pantera's presence.
Crania tilted as the wolf caught sight of what was moving. Perfect lunch time!
She bounded after the rabbit without thinking twice as if it was second nature of her to go without thinking about it. The hare was swift, but not swift enough for Pantera, as she gained quickly on him. Her jaws snapped a single snap missing the hare by a mere inch or two, before she attempted a second snap of her jaws and finally catching it by the rump. She shook the hell out of it, snapping its vertebrata, despite its feeble efforts of fighting in her jaws. The hare was motionless and dying fast.
The femme fatale slowed her gait prancing a proud prance shaking it aggressively with loud snarls, and tossing it up and down the air as if to now be playing with her food. She'd toss it, let it land on the ground watch it rapidly breath laying helplessly on the ground before picking it back up in her jaws and tossing it up in the air and finally catching it into her jaws and shaking the hell out of it, now shaking her entire being along with it as if she was in a frenzy, and finally stopped. The rabbit was now dead and she dropped it to the ground and placed a paw on its rump to hold it in place before plucking its fur off it and then eating it.
It wasn't much of a meal, but it did keep the femme going. However; she was beginning to feel the exhaustion in her feet from roaming. She needed to find a place to rest, and soon...
