It was a sunny day, one that had avoided the rains that spring brought. The weather was clearing up, and the murmurings of forest creatures were abuzz in the air. He had even been told his mother was expecting another litter of puppies. Blaisen Evrain hoped that his newest siblings would be far less annoying than his only sister, Loca, but even still, he felt a new sense of pride filling him as he trotted back to the depths of his home.
His maw was filled with a plump rabbit, which he had caught just moments before turning back to the dens. Reynard had taught him how to hunt, and it was clearly paying off. He was learning to be silent as he moved through the forest, his catch rate much higher than when he first started. He was still awkward at times, but he preferred to stay on the ground anyways. Loca and his mother were the fliers, and there was no way he'd let Loca show her superiority over him in the air constantly. So, learning to use the ground much better than his sister was something he enjoyed and could hold over her.
Dainty white paws barely left imprints in the soft soil as he moved closer to his destination. Being a keiyo, he was light and dainty, even if he had wished it naught. He had the slender legs of his father, and found himself almost dancing over the ground quite often. He felt almost like a sennyo at times, with their tiny paws and small hovering wings. With his own wings folded neatly across his black back, he almost thought he could have passed as a lupus. Of course the coarse fur around his neck, and his thin tail immediately gave away his lineage. Either way, he was proud of his family.
Soon he was near the dens, and he dropped the rabbit at the opening of where he knew his mother lay when she rested. The rabbit was not for him, but for her. He wanted her to be as strong as possible when she brought his new siblings into the world. And hopefully, Blaisen thought, he would be close at hand to help show them the world. He doubted Loca would have the patience for them, so he was looking forward to spending time with his new siblings.
"Father, mother," he called out softly, his voice demure and soft as he spoke. He didn't want to accidentally alarm anyone. He couldn't smell anyone in the immediate area, but they could just be downwind.

The air was a buzz with new life, even more so than usual. Reynard was trotting with joy, the old man was going to be a daddy again and the world was his oyster. In his jaws he carried a ring-necked pheasant, a nice plump male with a tail that had been his undoing. His baby was going to eat as well as the half-blind male could get her too. Even if it meant ten unsuccessful hunts and one really happy accident that had him stumble upon the game bird in his jaws. In his younger days he was able to catch food more easily, these days he just coached his kids on how to hunt. One good example was Blaise. Reynard was proud of all his children, they each had their own unique talents.
He turned the corner around a large sentential tree and headed toward his earthen den that he and his mate shared. His lanky form paused as a smile crept over his dark maw. The grey peppering was becoming more pronounced as the months ticked by. He saw his handsome son standing outside the den with a prize at his feet as well. His chest welled with pride as he saw the nice plump rabbit at his feet. He trotted up and tossed his kill down as well, "Well I see that my tutelage has proved fruitful." He opened a great black wing and encircled his son in a half embrace and pulled them shoulder to shoulder at he nipped his sons neck in greeting.
"How have you been boy? It seems like you kids grow up too fast for me to keep track of every day. " He loved his kids, but being alpha and being on bed rest for almost a season had made it hard for him to be completely involved in their lives, and now, in the blink of an eye, they were all grown up. His reddish fur rippled in a slight breeze. He looked at the kill once more happy that his son was helping his mother out, "I'm glad that you are helping your mother and I. I'm not as spry as I once was and it is good to know I have reliable sons running around to keep the pack together."
He lifted his wing to release his reserved son from the loving embrace. He stepped forward and called into the den, his oily voice echoing with his age old charm, "Tinka? We have food if you want it." He had learned early on not to bother Satinka or any pregnant wolf when they were close to labor. Their tempers were alarming and their teeth sharp. To be truthful, he was scared of his mate when she was at this stage. So he opted to keep out of the den unless invited in.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,230,true] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=background,http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt87/Tye-Lily/Comissions/tinka3.jpg] [scrolly:h(171),w(420),sy] Tinka was lounging as comfortable as she could under the circumstances in her mate’s den. Well, actually during times of her pregnancy it became hers without much questioning. She did not quite see what Reynard was so afraid of, however her first pregnancy while it had gone well for the pups, their relationship was almost never the same and had barely hung on. Here as she lay toward the back of the den, swollen to the point of truly popping she realized how far they had truly come. Reynard had gone through quite an evolution himself, and she believed he finally realized that his worth not only came from running the pack but also being a father to the many pups who depended on him. At this point in her thoughts she rolled on to her side, and grunted, being this far in her pregnancy no position was comfortable, between watching the pressure on her stomach, and then the added pressure of not hurting her wings she simply felt as though she could not win for anything. She huffed and moved onto her stomach with everything flat around her, even her wings drooped and hung along the ground.
“There just is no comfortable place to be!..” She whined and whimpered and indulged herself for a moment before she pushed herself into a standing position and paced around the den, snarling and growling at anything in her path. Out of all of her pups she didn’t think any of them were taking the news too well. Loca had virtually lost her mind, becoming angry, and yelling and throwing a fit before she stomped off. That was the last she had seen of her in the last few weeks, and it wasn’t as if the pups weren’t old enough to do things on their own, even find dens of their own, but Loca was her only daughter as it stood, she thought with a small smile on her maw, maybe she would have more with this litter. She desperately wanted her daughter to be here, to show an interest in healing, but Loca always seemed to just be interested in whatever caught her attention at the moment. Her stomach was gurgling and rumbling, and she had a few aches here and there but she contributed it to her walking around and just being cooper up and uncomfortable. Truth be told she wanted her family to partake in the joy of their coming siblings, and it hurt her tremendously that Halcyon and Loca seemed to have taken off for parts unknown during this critical time.
Before she knew it, her ears perked at the sound outside her den, and her lips pulled back over her teeth in a threatening display, she could not help but be a little on edge with her time so very close. But giving an extra moment before she leapt she scented the air, and found very quickly that it was the sound of her son, the youngest Blaisen, and her heart soared, her aggression forgotten for a moment. Not only did she smell him, but also the prey somewhere close to him, and her stomach turned for a moment. She had trouble trying to distinguish if it was hunger or something else but decided to approach and see him anyway. Then as though this weren’t enough she also heard the voice of her mate, her love Reynard. Happier than before she made her way out of the den being cautious not to let anything touch her or have her stumble over it, a fall at such a tenuous point in the pregnancy could be have dreadful consequences, and Tinka was terrified of something happening to her unborn pups. She was healthy and in the prime of her life, and she wanted nothing more than another litter of perfect youngsters to watch out for and care for again.
When the light hit her pelt it shone with her efforts of eating herbs and meals to keep her healthy and her eyes shimmered with happiness, and a weariness that one could see she had not been getting as much sleep as she should have. But without any comfortable place to sleep, and constantly feeling bloated and as though she needed to leave the den to relieve herself, sleep came in smaller and smaller increments…”What handsome fellows have called upon me!” Her smile first reached her son, so proud of him, he looked very much like his father, not so much as Halcyon but she loved that there seemed to be a blending of herself and Reynard in Blaise, unlike with Loca and Halcyon. Here he had thought of her enough to bring her a rabbit, turning toward her mate her smile widened and her eyes softened. She always feared Reynard would find her less attractive when she was pregnant but here he had also brought her something to eat and she leaned in to nuzzle Blaise and then turned to lean slightly against her mate. “You two take such good care of me, I can only imagine I am not bigger with all the meals you have provided for me..such a wonderful mate and talented pups I have!”
She leaned down for a moment to begin to take a bite of the rabbit, before something cracked within her body and the familiar pain of labor took over and she froze for a long moment. She knew that she could give birth any day now really, I mean she was larger than before, but she believed she was still smaller then when she had her first litter. She began to shake slightly, her muscles giving out with the intensity of the pain that followed that sound within, and she began to whine and whimper. She had tried to catch herself but all she could do was try to gracefully fall to her knees and then drop down to the ground. “Rey…Reynard…time…time now…” Her words were choked out from between gritted teeth as she dug her claws into the ground, attempting to retrace her steps into the den where her softer furs lay, her herbs she would need for after, the prison that she had so wanted out of just moments before now beckoned to her as if her life depended on it. “Blaisen, help your father try to help me into the den, it’s time for your siblings to see the world..” Weakly she tried to push herself to her feet in between the contractions as she stared up at the two males, lacking much else to say beyond wanting to howl and snarl out the pain…but she would have to wait, she was trying not to scare them both while she needed them…and somewhere she was still being rational even though pain was clawing at the back of her brain and spine.
[[Yeah decided to make it a birthing thread..xD]][/scrolly]

Apparently Reynard had been hunting. Pheasants were stupid birds, he knew, but they were fast and hard to catch. He would have to make a note to commend his father on a fine catch. With one pretty much blind eye, Blaisen knew such catches were hard to find, which was why he worked so hard to hone his own hunting skills. Providing for his family was important, and soon both parents would be older and need more help. Blaisen saw his father trot into the clearing towards him, a smile on his lips. His paw looked like someone had sprinkled snow on it, but he moved forward towards him, his own maw broken into a wide smile. Soon though he heard rustling near him, seeing his mother emerge from her den. So she had been in there. The scent was so strong from both of them, it was hard to tell, and he dared not invade. He hadn't been in that den himself since he was a small pup.
But her exit of the den was slow, allowing Blaisen to speak to his father briefly. He tossed his pheasant down onto the ground beside his rabbit and spoke, the words making his smile grow a bit. "Can't leave mum with an empty belly. Looks like she'll have quite a feast on her hands today. You'll have to show me how to catch a pheasant, I've never gotten one. Bloody birds are so swift," he replied, nuzzling his nose into Rey's neck and curling up in the embrace. Even though they were of like size now, he still felt comfort being pulled into a hug from his father. He doubted such feelings would ever diminish. "I have been well, hunting here and there. I've gotten much better, if I do say so myself," he grinned, turning to see Tinka finally emerging from the den. Her belly was heavily swollen and Blaisen moved to her side, careful not to get too close, but close enough that he could be there in case a trip caught her off balance. "You're spry enough to catch a pheasant, father. But you know I'll always be here to make sure you and mum are well fed and protected."
Reynard called out to her, and soon she was glimmering in the light. Satinka had always been beautiful, and Blaisen had admired how beautiful she was when he was younger. It was a constant pleasure to muddle around with the other pups and brag about how pretty his mother was. She spoke to them, Blaisen's tail wagging slightly behind him, his chest puffing out with the compliment. Though he looked drastically different from both his littermates, it was very obvious he was still their child. He liked being unique as well. He returned her nuzzle, watching her move to Reynard's side. He kept alert though in case she needed his help. "All I've learned, I've learned from father," he replied with a grin, watching her begin to eat. But suddenly she paused, and Blaisen's eyes widened a bit. Did she get something caught in her throat? She was shaking and Blaise couldn't help but feel his own legs begin to tremble, his wide blue eyes staring at Reynard. What was happening, he wasn't entirely sure, but she was soon falling. He bolted to her side, trying to help lessen the fall so she wouldn't hurt herself or the pups.
Her words confirmed and solidified the situaiton. Blaise knew how pups worked, and how they were birthed, and Tinka was going to be giving them front seat viewing if they didn't move fast enough. He gently licked his mother's ear, nodding at her words. "Father, I can help guide and support her to the entrance if you keep the other side. I'm strong enough," he lowered himself to help support Tinka up, letting her lean on him however much she needed to right herself. If she could walk back into the den it would be much easier than trying to drag her to it. "Once we get her into the den I can find a healer. Who do we have, Aurora only? I will find her..."

Halcyon careened along the breeze, his muscular black wings working diligently at keeping his body aloft. The change of season gave the young brute a rush of energy, breaking him of his lazy winter routine of leisurely slumber. The longer, progressively warmer days inspired the winged canid to get out and fly more often. Under the strain of daily practice, his muscles rapidly firmed and tightened. Now his proficiency almost rivaled his sister's. Of course, his flying would never possess her particular brand of precision or finesse. Still, he could lounge and glide through the clouds with the ease of a gull.
Halcyon circled low over his parents' densite, the familiar scents causing a warm grin to slide across his maw. The smell of a fresh kill also traveled up to his nostrils, reminding Hal of how little hunting he did. Normally the adolescent simply picked off a small bird or rodent when he was feeling peckish, hardly ever bothering to go after larger sources of prey. He hadn't really discovered his place in the pack, a fact which sat uneasily in the male's mind. Loca was an athlete, Blaisen was a hunter, and Halcyon..Well, was just Halcyon. He sighed in dissatisfaction as he landed somewhat clumsily near the small family gathering.
Halcyon jogged toward his brother, father, and mother. Pink tongue rolled out from the corner of his mouth and his dark blue eyes shone with contented bliss. Shadow-rimmed ears pricked forward as the scene abruptly changed. The air became tense and then his mother dropped to the ground..
Moving swiftly, the small wolf was at his father's side in an instant. Perceptive as always, his sharp mind quickly put together the pieces in front of him. Satinka was heavily pregnant and his father and brother had been thoughtful enough to bring her something to eat. Halcyon begrudgingly realized that he hadn't done anything nearly as nice for her, but now wasn't the time for such thoughts. She was in labor, she had to be, right? The cogs in Halcyon's mind clicked together and an idea formed behind his eyes. This could be his niche. His mother was a talented healer, and he could be one too! He would be thrown right into the thick of things, but maybe that was the best way to learn. With a determined nod Halcyon set his plan into motion.
"Mother, you're a healer. Please tell me what I can do while we wait for Aurora to arrive." His cold nose found her chin and he tenderly nuzzled the short fur there. "Train me. Walk me through this." Admittedly, Hal knew very little about child birth, but he needed to be of some help, in some way.

He watched his mate waddle out of the den and flashed her one of his most winning smiles as she commented on her boys. His thin tail twitched back and forth happily.
His ear twitched at Blaise's comment, " Pheasant stays still when threatened...until flushed...I actually tripped over him and recovered quicker than he did." He gave a wide grin at his own dumb luck. He suspected that his son could probably take on a pheasant before long. He was happy that he was honing his skills. He gave a good hearted chuckle about the promise to be a provider, "I'm glad to hear it."
He turned back to his mate as she reached them. He moved to nuzzle her, licking her cheek lightly in greeting. He froze when he heard a strange popping sound from within his mate. The tension went through both of them suddenly. He had seen labor many time now, and he knew whelping outside a den was dangerous no matter where you were. Simultaneously it seemed that she began to fell, he bent with her attempting to catch her, the same time Blaisen leaped into the situation and grabbed the other side. Between the three of them, they eased Tinka to the ground and helped her back up to head back toward the den.
This was always a nerve wracking experience. He silently helped his mate stabilize as Blaise took the other side to support. Once he was in place Reynard ducked back and under one of her wings, "Easy does it, baby. One step at a time." He blinked as they entered the cool darkness of the den. His ear twitched as he heard another landing in the clearing. He craned his neck, looking over his mate's primaries. He was relieved to see Halcyon there, willing to help.
He turned back to finish getting Satinka in the den. Once they were near the resting area, he carefully knelt to help her lay down. He ducked under her wing again and stood over her. "Are you comfortable? What can I do to help?" Of course, asking questions was probably not helping. Halcyon and Blasien where both asking a sundry of questions. The mention of Aurora was probably not the best thing that could have happened. However she was the only healer, it had been a while since he had spoken to her. He glanced to the corner of the den, there were herbs and such there, his darling was prepared, " Hal...there are herbs here, I'm not sure which ones we need, but I think they are for the worst case scenario." He looked over at Satinka, wondering if he was right or not.
He looked back at Blaisen, "I'm not sure that we need Aurora right now.....move the meat into the den, let's see how this goes. It might be alright with out healing...." He was always leery that they over used the healing arts. He did not want to abuse it in case something ever happened that left them without. He looked back at his mate, "Breathe baby....It's your call if you want a healer or not." He began pacing slightly in the opposite corner of the cave, not wanting to be in the way, but also wanting to help.

Then there was her mate who despite his disabilities and problems went above and beyond to provide for her and to take care of her during this delicate time. Her heart swelled and began to beat loudly within her own chest echoing up through her ears to provide a cadence that followed down to her steps to meet them. “How lucky am I to have such a doting young boy to help not only me, but my adoring, handsome and charming mate?” Her smile was large and genuine as she looked at Blaisen with a nod of her head to show her appreciation for coming to her side to help her. Her eyes turned to her mate for a long moment before she stated, “He is such a good teacher, many a pup can thank him for learning to fly and hunt..” This she knew to be true, from Nocht and Altan to Angel, and even his own ever enlarging brood they could be thankful they had a father who cared enough and was talented enough to teach them skills that would follow them for the rest of their lives and make it so they could not only provide for their family but future mates and their own pups.
As she came into contact with the ground she whimpered slightly..she did not want to fall, or do anything to endanger the pups or herself and she had been just stupid enough to do so. She was ever so glad for Blaisen to have reacted so quickly and came to her aide along with that of her mate. They eased her motions so that she didn’t completely collide with the hard ground in a way that might truly endanger her. Then as she tried to stand, she leaned heavily on both Reynard and her son as they slowly made their way into the den, her breathing was heavy and she panted without shame. The pain was shooting up her spine and every few steps she would have to stop, growling and snarling with the force of it, as though the sounds would somehow lessen the pain that came with pup bearing. She had forgotten that with the coming of pups came such immeasurable pain and for a small moment she cursed her mate. A part of her brain has registered that she of course had wanted more pups and so it wasn’t entirely his fault but still, pain was pain. “Trying…hard…to..move..” Her voice was a strangled whimper, even as they entered the cooler area of the den.
She immediately wanted to get to the furs she had collected, a softer place where she could fall to her side and just lay down, and try to deal with the contractions. This being her second birth, she knew very much to expect and now more than ever she thought of herself as stupid, the pains that she had been having earlier in the day must have been labor. She had simply written it off as cramped muscles from being in the den, now since she had been in labor all day the contractions were coming much faster than she had anticipated. When Blaisen mentioned Aurora her eyes clouded over with pain, while she terribly missed her mother-like mentor, she was not sure she needed or wanted her here. Having her mate and two sons was quite enough, and the den was becoming crowded and she knew very soon they would all be leaving, for she couldn’t handle it. With the arrival of Halcyon, essentially his father’s heir, and her first born her eyes reflected such happiness. He looked like a small version of Reynard and she panted and huffed when he came closer to try to help in any way possible. Her tail swished to the side, as her wings tried to re-position themselves out of the way, she wanted to be on her side desperately, but her wings wouldn’t cooperate.
“Halcyon…..” She wanted so very much to make him her healer, to make him not only the eldest natural heir to her mate but to make him able to heal and take care of his pack, but she couldn’t force the great spirit to hand him a gift….but she could have him learn about herbs!! Through her pain clouded mind she nodded as he came close and nuzzled her, she breathed out and whined loudly as another contraction hit her. “Halcyon, there are three bundles of herbs over there, one purple, one reddish, and one green, I need those three bundles, they are set aside for the birth specifically.” She didn’t have time for names or a complete lesson, not while she was in labor, but seeing as how he wanted to help she would let him, try to teach him. “Blaisen I don’t need a healer yet….but if I do it will be your job to get her, for now can you go and bring the food in and place it in the corner?” When Halcyon returned she said softly, “I need you to chew the purple and green one up a little but don’t swallow the juices, I’ll need them in the poultice.. It is a combination which will ease the contractions and birth a little bit..” Her herbal knowledge along with the natural ability of her body to heal should get her through the birthing process much easier this time.
“Reynard…I do have some other herbs over there…they are indeed if something goes asunder…please grab the blue and whitish-pink bundles away from the others and set them closer in case I need them…” She didn’t even want to think anything would go wrong, and the thought nearly stopped her heart…”Her whimpers and whines took over her speech and soon enough she growled out, “Everyone needs to go wait outside..” She couldn’t deal with everyone being in the den with her, Reynard was already nervous and pacing, Halcyon wanted desperately to help and so she utilized him as best she could, and had given Blaisen tasks as well, but she couldn’t be a task master right now and give birth. The pain was over taking her faculties and she did not want to put her newborns at risk, “NOW!” Her voice had taken on a nasty growling, graveling sound, instead of it’s usual light, and tinkling sound. When she was finally alone she knew with how fast the contractions were coming that it was time to push, having swallowed the poultice mixture Halcyon had made she knew it would ease the pain of pushing, and so the long process began. Loud growls and snarls would make their way out to her audience of three as she tried desperately to expel the pups within herself. “Oh why did I want more pups!?” She was gasping and crying out, panting as she lay on her side, tail switching between twitching and being pushed straight out. “AHHH!” She was shrieking as she felt the first pup finally clear through the birthing channel to enter the world.
There was such pain with this first pup that she felt blackness hinge on the edges of her eyesight. “I can’t black out now..I said I could do this..” She had taken the herbs too late and it was just now that she could feel their effects the pain becoming effectively dulled but not so much that she could not feel when she needed to push. She quickly sat up as best she could and picked up the little bundle, cleaning her and smoothing her fur out as best she could. Her eyes lovingly locked onto her, a female, another daughter, beautiful and almost nothing but white and gray except for the black mask which was notoriously her father’s. Nudging her to a teat she felt the hiccup of another pup coming and began to push, the dampness of her own pelt showing just how exhausted and how much the labor had taken out of her. Her muscles finally protested no more, and gave up just as the other little body was expelled from her own. With a whimper she lay there for a moment, trying to regain her breath before picking up the bundle and cleaning it’s air ways and pelt, nudging and looking at the pup. Another little girl…Satinka was overjoyed and her tail beat against the ground heavily as much as she could, this little girl would be a copy of Reynard, almost like Halcyon, and everything Tinka had wished for, she would have all the reminders of Reynard she could have between the two of them and her eyes over flooded with tears and she gasped and hiccupped falling back on her side, her one wing falling over the pups as she tried to pull her legs in to circle them, the other wing out straight as she called gently…”Reynard….please….come…” before she fell into the dark pit that was unconsciousness, it wouldn’t last long, considering her own powers were working to heal her body but at that moment, knowing she had given birth to such beautiful pups once more, her mind and body needed the time to recover.
[[Loca is mysteriously absent because she is throwing a temper tantrum about more pups will shall be posted soon, so good boys and good Daddy!]][/scrolly]

Even though his beloved barked out the same orders he did, he said nothing to oppose her. His world revolved around her at the moment, and if she were unhappy the world would end. He hesitated only a few moments at the mouth of the den. She wanted...nay, needed to be alone for this process. At least she had asked instead of turning his tail with her sharp teeth. Even though he felt he was dominate in the relationship, she was heavier than he was and could do damage if she set her mind to it. His single good eye wandered to the collection of herbs in the corner. He hoped that she would not need to use them all for this. "Sons. Leave her to this." Was all he said before setting his lanky legs to work to remove him from the situation.
Once outside he resumed his pacing, as was his way when waiting for babies. He loved being a father, he loved his mate, but he was horrible with patience. It seemed an eternity whenever his young were being brought forth into the world. He was ashamed that he had multiple litters with several females, but it all boiled down to him loving kids. He took a moment to reflect, pausing his insentient pacing to recall how he was when he first found this pack that he currently ruled. He was a cowardly and repulsive youth, yet here he was a responsible and concerned elder of his followers. How amazing was four years of time passing?
He looked over at his sons, there were no words to express how proud he was of them. He also had several lovely daughters...who's lack of presences were noted in this trying time. Even his adoptive sons had shown great promise for ruling packs of their own. He turned to stare into the den, unable to see past the shadowy threshold. Was she alright? Did she need assistance? His dark ears were strained to the panting and yowling within. Several times he had to stop himself from running in to rescue her. There was nothing he could do for childbirth, even if he was loathe to admit it.
For what seemed like hours, he waited....and waited. Finally....he heard her plaintive voice from within. All he needed to hear was his name, and he was in there like a hare out of a bolt hole. He rushed in, shoving his sons aside if they happened to bar his passage. Soon he was forcing himself to slow once he reached the whelping area. He could smell the blood and afterbirth. "Tinka?" He came in warily, hoping he had not misheard her call. She did not return his call. He came upon her form, is hear pounding in his oversized ears. She wasn't responding, what happened? Was she ok? Where the kids ok?
He gave a soft whine as he approached. The labor had taken it's toll. she was unconscious. He sniffed over her fluffy form, making sure that she was at least alive. She smelled healthy, just tired...sapped for lack of a better term. He stood over her, lowering his head long enough to lick off her face, letting her subconscious know that he was there to help. His eye soon found the two wriggling and mewling forms. He gave a smile when he realized she had kept herself conscious enough to clean the newest members of the pack.
He nudged them both in turn, making sure they were well fastened on a teat before turning his attention to his mate. Even though she had cleaned the pups, she had passed out before she could clean anything else. He laid near the brood and began lapping up the afterbirth. He knew there was fresh meat near by for her to replenish her stores once she was awake. For now he did not want to risk unwanted company snooping about the whelping den. Once he finished cleaning the mess, he began to carefully groom his sleeping mate. He did not care how long it took, he was determined to stand sentry until she came too, only then would he move from her side.

His older brother was now there, speaking to Satinka purposefully, and helping out. The more the merrier, and thank god it wasn't Loca. Though, in hindsight, Blaisen knew that any help would have been good, and that he hoped Loca would be mature enough to put their differences behind them in order to help ease their mother.
Once Satinka was in the den, he turned to look at his father, who seemed a bit overloaded with questions. Closing his maw he said nothing, just let out a soft whine, sympathizing with Tinka as she spoke to Halcyon about the herbs. Blaisen had no desire to know anything about herbs, but soon he was being spoken to. A very quick nod was given in reply. "I will fly as fast as my wings can take me, and faster still if needs be," he replied, grasping the pheasant and rabbit and placing it gently into the corner of the den. It was very cramped, and Blaisen found himself quickly backing up, especially as the growls took over his mother's voice. He was already out of the den as his mother ordered the rest out, his ears flattening back onto his skull as she growled out the end of her order.
Blaisen sat close by the den, his eyes and ears alert. Reynard was pacing, and soon Blaisen found himself not able to watch his father pace. It was making him even more anxious. Instead his eyes focused out into the trees. At the slightest movements he bristled, consistently aware of everything changing around him. No one would come near the den without getting through him first. A particularly loud noise, like the snap of a twig, brought him to his feet, staring out into the foliage.
The noise brought nothing though, so Blaisen let his gaze scan across the landscape until the low noise of Tinka's voice was heard. Both ears prickling up, he turned to face the den, Reynard already pushing his way inside. She had called him first anyways, but Blaisen was hot on his heels, consciously aware to let them have their time first. He waited anxiously outside the den, waiting to be allowed entrance. He could hear the sounds of his father, his tongue brushing over what he assumed was fur, either of the pups or of his mother. No voices were heard, and a frown came across Blaisen's face. He could hear her breathing, her heart beat... but neither spoke. He wanted to shout out to them, ask them if everything was okay. Instead he laid down near the entrance, peering in with huge blue eyes.
He could see his mother faintly in the darkness, and his father grooming her. With her head down she appeared to be sleeping. The scent of blood was overwhelming, and Blaisen was terrified something had gone wrong. But if it had, Reynard would have done something. He wouldn't just be lying there, waiting. He could see two wriggling bundles by her belly, inching himself forward on his stomach, his paws beginning to enter the den.
"Everything is good?"

In the beginning there had been chaos, between her two sons and mate, helpful as they were trying to be, nature would finally take over and she would shoo them away. Satinka deep within her heart knew that she did not mean to hurt their feelings or make them feel unwanted, but a primal need within her soul made sure she was alone when the pups actually entered the world. There was no threat, she did not believe for a second her mate or sons would harm them but a misplaced set, or a nervous nip and the lives of the two small females at her teats would be over. Her parental need to keep them safe knew no bounds, but she wondered absently…where was her first daughter? Where was Loca? Why had she not come around..her mothering nature was worried about her, worried that something had happened to her. She knew the black faced female had not been happy when she had been informed of the new pups but she had no idea she would not come and speak with her ever again…the same thoughts went to her adopted daughter, Angel. Neither cloud colored females had come anywhere near her since word got out and about of her second litter. Tears pricked at her eyes and ran down her muzzle, she had always thought that having daughters would be easier. Had she been given the choice she would have stayed with her own mother, learning from her, raising their own litters side by side but it would seem her own daughters hated her, yet her sons doted on her as though she truly were their Queen instead of just their mother. When she was affectionate with Halcyon or Blaisen they did not rebuff her motherly attempts to be close to them, but Loca had rebuffed her from the earliest of ages, and Angel she thought only tolerated her presence. Tinka’s muzzle quivered as she made a few soft sounds of sadness, her stomach twitching with emotions even as her newborn daughters ate their way to contentment. She had heard something and raised her head slightly, there right beside her was her mate…who she briefly remembered calling for just before she had passed out. She had spots and blurriness in her vision and her body ached..with a small whimper she said..”Reynard…please go get me those pink flowers off to the left…” She needed the blossoming flower to try to ease some of her pain without poisoning her milk for the pups. She watched her mate with such love in her heart, even though her own was breaking at the thought that her own daughters might hate her, her mate loved her. She relived coming to this pack, and meeting him, thinking him at once handsome, even when they spoke of dragons and other threats. Her tail thumped a few times as she tried to offer him a smile, “I love you Reynard….we have…two..beautiful daughters…Another one who looks very much so like you..” She did not mention the one who looked more like her, it would seem out of all their litters there was at least one of each of them, which made her proud and insanely happy, their memories would not die for naught. She realized she smelled like him, he had sat next to her and cleaned her, as well as the after birth and she lay back with a long sigh trying to control herself and the rollercoaster of emotions she was riding on right now. “Reynard….I think…I think our daughter hates me. Angel has not come to see me, and I know her presence has been absent, but Loca downright screamed at me when I told her about the pups…what if these girls hate me too? It is more than my heart can bear…” Once more the tears slid down her face as she tried to contain her sniffles, hearing Blaisen inching into the den. It would seem Halcyon had disappeared, and she figured that it would be heard for her eldest son to stay about and patiently wait, perhaps he had gone out to hunt more food for Reynard, and possibly himself and Blaisen. He was always an ambitious little so and so. Even as a pup, when Reynard was hurt he was determined to stick it together, and even take on his own little mission and finding other healers. But here, here was her youngest son, her baby inching his way closer to make sure she was okay. Her heart that she felt was breaking swelled with motherly pride, Blaisen had always shown himself to be caring and compassionate, only letting a temper rear it’s head when it came to his sister, and only when she tended to rile him up about something, Loca was relentless in her torture of those around her, even when she did not mean to. Her sky colored eyes found the entrance to the cave and she knew the light sparkled off her eyes as she tried to smile and hide the tear tracks that had worked their way down her muzzle. “Blaisen, come see your new sisters…” She had the small satisfaction of knowing that in a few weeks they would be tugging his tail to take them out adventuring and her sense of pride swelled once more. Looking from her mate to her son she could not have been happier, yes she would have liked Halcyon and Angel there as well, and even Loca but she understood they were all getting older now….but in the back of her mind and heart she just…had this nagging suspicion that those females closest to her harbored much more resentment then she could ever apologize for. In those moments while Blaisen was looking at the pups she sent her worried, and pain filled eyes to her mate, hoping that in some way he could reassure her, and help make it right. But as a mother usually does, she worried that maybe she had done something during this pregnancy, the fall or done something terrible enough that these pups would not want their mother around either…the thought was a hard one to swallow. Until she regained consciousness, there was little more he could do. He gazed down at her, taking in every fluffy detail of his lovely Queen. His eyes found the pups wriggling at her teats, a smile crossed his dark lips. He hoped they would grow up strong and well, though he suspected he might not live to see them paired off. The thought of his dwindling time left among the living seemed to crop up more and more. He was nine....he had known some keiyou to last till thirteen, however his track record with danger as of late may have shaved some of those years off.
Shaking his head he forced the dark thought out of his head, this was a happy time, he needed to enjoy every moment he could with his family. So he rested his head upon his mate with a contented sigh. He wanted to protect her, keep her and the little ones safe. It was good that his sons were so near and so willing to help. Though he also thought of his daughters, all four of them. Aurora had basically forbidden him from seeing Alla and Naomi. Even though he was her alpha, he would not demand that she let him see them. He respected her wish and did not actively seek them out, however he was happy when the hybrid girls would find him. Loca and Angel were different though....Loca loved Reynard, he knew, however she was quite hard headed in certain areas. He was disappointed in her reaction to the new pups. Angel seemed to have left the pack lands for a while, though he did catch traces of her now and then.
Lost in his thoughts, it took him a moment to notice that Tinka was stirring. He lifted his head, ears primed toward her, waiting for instructions. He was surprised to see tears running down her face. When she spoke, he assumed she was crying from pain and quickly got up to help, "Pink ones? Alright, I'll get them." He licked her face as he stepped by her. He nosed around the dried plants and found the flowers with relative ease. He turned his head as she spoke to him, "I love you too baby...we make pretty awesome kids, don't we?" Smiling, he picked up the flowers and turned to head back toward her.
His heart fell as she spoke and began crying, He moved to sit near her head, dropping the flowers where she could reach them, "Hey now...don't cry....she doesn't hate you. You know how she is...she is just willful and stubborn...she wasn't happy about us having more pups, but she will have to accept it." He bent his head to nuzzle her neck, "And Angel is a grown wolf...she has some things to sort out for herself. She's been busy with her Guardian duties as well..." He really wasn't sure how Angel felt about him taking a new mate. He had never really had the heart to tell Angel the truth behind her conception, that it was a business arrangement with nothing to do with love.
He continued to attempt to comfort his mate as their son came in. He gave a smile, "Everything is fine Blaise, your mom it just recovering." He trusted his son knew that females could be emotional right after birth, and if not he was learning as things went. He lowered himself back to the earthen floor, keeping his head near hers to continue coddling and comforting the new mother. "You think you can be a protective big brother to the baby girls? Make sure no rabble try to steal their hearts away." He gave a smirk, he himself had been the very rabble he knew females were warned against by their mothers. So naturally he didn't want that to happen to his girls.

Blaisen's eyes had adjusted to the strange light change between the sun and the dark den. His head rested gently on his paws, waiting and watching. He could hear his parents murmuring, but he knew better than to try and overhear what they said. He was more of a gentleman than that, so he focused his eyes on the two, hardly visible balls of fur, letting his mind reel as to what they would be like. Would he have sisters or brothers? Or both? He almost hoped for brothers; he and Halcyon got along much better than he and Loca, but he knew all females weren't like her. Perhaps he would have a new sister who would look up to him and love him. His heart thumped in his chest, waiting for his parents to let him in. He was not going to be one to intrude.
Instead his mind was reeling with thoughts and he almost missed Reynard speaking to him. He blinked, his blue eyes shifting from the puppies to his father's own."Oh good dad, mum, I'm glad everything went fine," and with his mother's urging he squished himself down the hole, excited to see his new sisters. All his doubts about another sister were gone from his mind, as the gentle thump thump of his tail sounded as he wiggled down to where both his parents were.
Finally he could see the two little ones clearly; one looked so much like his father, the other just like his mother. His face broke into a smile, looking first at his mum. "Mum, they're beautiful. They will grow up to be just as beautiful as you!" He turned towards his dad, his ears perked up. He nodded swiftly, puffing out his chest. No one would hurt his baby sisters, even Loca. He imagined she would have feelings about not being the only female, besides their mum, in the family now. He might even have to protect the two little ones from her.
"Of course Dad, I'll be on guard all the time, scaring all the boys away!" he replied with a grin, looking towards his mum and lowering his nose down to give the two girls a very gentle lick. "Do they have names?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,230,true] | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=background,http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt87/Tye-Lily/Comissions/tinka3.jpg] [scrolly:h(171),w(420),sy] In these moments, in the quiet solitude with her mate, she knew they were both caught up in their own mind. She was caught up in the emotional whirlwind that often followed females when they gave birth. She didn't quite remember it with her first litter but between the pain, and anger and other emotions, it might as well have been the same. She worried over her first litter constantly, and although the worries changed from whether they were going to get cuts on their paws and tear each other's ears off, now they were whether or not they would find the best mates and have litters of their own. In between the constant worrying was the dreadful notion that any day now her mate would leave her to be with the great spirit. She knew not how she would ever deal without him and though he had heirs a plenty, that was not the point to the Queen who now lay with him gently atop her. She felt warm, and protected and loved, and she could not imagine a better way to bring two beautiful girls into the world. Her eyes drifted over to her stomach where the pups were nestled in making soft grunting noises and yips as they battled for the same teat and finally moved on to different ones. Her heart was pounding with worry for them, yet overwhelmed with love and she turned to nuzzle her mate's nose as she took a long breath inward, and wrapped her tail around the young ones.
When he brought her the pink flowers, she gently licked at them before putting them into her mouth and chewing them slowly, ingesting them down before she lay back down and tried to control herself. She did hate to be so emotional, as if Reynard was not acutely aware of everything as it was. She did not mean to worry him but her heart desperately searched for some sign that the older females in her own litter adopted or not did not hate her. In that moment while poking at the flowers Tinka wondered what had happened to her. When she was younger she had been sort of like Loca, but closer to her mother...perhaps only because it had been the way of the pack but still. She was athletic and pretty, and she could be loud and competitive. But deep down Tinka knew, she had lost her first mate, and had had to deal with several losses in her life, one more traumatic than the next, and so by the time she had found Reynard and his pack she was quickly subdued and cowed. She had not even expected to be able to show anger or other emotions, but during her time here she had found them waiting, waiting in the bottom of her belly like a cool fire which just needed the right nourishment. Coming back to the present she smiled indulgently at Reynard, "We make very beautiful babies. Not just these girls, but Blaise, and Hal, and Loca, they are all some of the most handsome pups I have seen.."
Of course every mother would say that about their young, and most mothers were indulgent when speaking to others, knowing that just after birth it was impossible to find any flaw with your own puppies. For it was then when your heart was the fullest, nearly bursting with pride and love. As hers was now as she looked at the two little bundles two, near replicas of their parents, which couldn't have been more perfect. In truth she would have liked a bigger litter, but she knew as her mate aged, and as she aged, being a little beyond seven now, the chances for larger litters without complications was rare. So if she only had two daughters who were healthy, well she could live with that. As her mate tried to comfort her she sniffed indignantly and nodded. He was right of course, it could have been a little bit of empty nest even with the coming of her newest litter. Soon she would have to understand that Angel, and Nocht and even Altan were grown, they were going to find their own way in the world...and though Hal and Blaise were obviously happy at home, Loca obviously wasn't, and she had to make her own way she supposed. She sniffed again and nodded, leave it to her mate to help her see things in a different light even in the haze of her hysterics.
When she saw her son Blaisen, standing there, gently making his way in, she leaned her head down next to her mate's and smiled gently. She had things to be grateful for, she had a son who was there and determined to take care of his siblings and parents. She had another son who was interested in learning herbs and healing, and Reynard had his heirs, and now they had a small bundle of females who would continue to bless the pack with more lineage down the the line. "Oh yes Blaisen, I wouldn't want any smooth talking rogue to come and steal them away.." She gave a loving nudge to Reynard, "Someone who says they'll save them from dragons, or at least distract them...a handsome, lanky male.." Her voice lowered to a near purr as she stared at her mate lovingly before turning her attention to Blaise, "I am more than sure they will be attached to you, following and bugging you to teach them to fly.." She chuckled with a mirthful smile as she looked at the mixture of the two older keiyous with much joy.
She loved the look of pride on the face of her son and she knew he would be an honest protector, born and true. He would never let anything happen to his sisters and she was rather sure that the little females would probably have the same effect on any male they met in their life. With their beauty and personalities, she just knew they would be the heart breakers, and with a tinge of pride she let her own chest puff out. "I have named one, her name will be Kyita, and I am still thinking for the other one...she is special though..her name came almost instantly." She smiled at Blaisen for a long moment before turning her eyes to Reynard, her son's compliment and his assurance to keep the boys away eased her tension away. Her eyes drifted lazily, and though her stomach rumbled slightly and she eyed the food...."I think now would be a great time for a family meal and a nap...." ][/scrolly]
