[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy][[ set before Altan leaves, but also before Moonrose comes, meaning Nocht is healthy and not undergoing withdrawl from his elder sprouts. ]]
Nocht had been patrolling the territory, taking on the job that the other adults should have been doing. With new pups around, he tried to work as hard as he possibly could, catching sleep here and there. It was more important to keep his father, and his father's family safe, than anything else. He had a hard time associating himself with Reynard's other children, perhaps because of his awkward disposition towards... well, everything, but he tried his hardest. Nocht would put himself in the way of any danger for his half sibings. So he was out on the edge of the border, with very little sleep over the past 48 hours, trudging along in the night.
The summer air was warm and humid, despite the darkness that the night provided. With a waning moon overhead, the lyxxus easily navigated through the plants that covered the ground. His small paws were easy to move through the forest, but also quick to get stuck in small crevices. So with glowing blue eyes he carefully trod around, stopping every few metres and strengthening the boundaries with his own scent. It was close enough to the pack's that it would hopefully alert any visitors to the pack's existence and warn them off. He doubted he would meet anyone on his night time patrol, but Nocht also knew that night time was the perfect time for sneaking around. Because of this he was extra vigilent. With both his ears perked, he listened to the sounds of the forest, hearing the chirping of crickets and the swaying of trees.
He kept an ear out for any snaps of twigs, or anything else that would alert him to another presence. He kept close to the shrubs and underbrush, trying to conceal himself as he stepped as quietly as possible.

Saying goodbye to Reynard had been tough, though perhaps that had something to do with the fact that he had to explain everything to him. He still wasn't sure whether to tell his brother or not, keeping a secret from him didn't really seem right but the problem was it wasn't his secret, it was Loca's and he'd already broken his promise by telling Reynard. Whatever he planned on doing though, he still had to go and say goodbye to Nocht, that much he was certain of and so, once he'd finished his time with Reynard, Kyita and Malaika he set off to find his brother.
One goodbye down, one to go. He had hated it last time, leaving his family but this time it was worse. This time he didn't really want to leave, just felt he had to. It was his fault, his stupid adventures that had planted that idea firmly in Loca's mind and now he was responsible for making sure she was ok. That only made these goodbyes harder, with Reynard telling him the truth and now with Nocht, well Altan still had no idea what he was going to say.
Maybe he had promised to meet a friend, he'd made when traveling. Really he was going to lie to his brother, he cringed at that thought. That would likely bring up more questions though and the only two wolves that sprung to mind were Cedrus and Leo. He had yet to meet the yagi again and Leo too and neither were that close to him, he could live without seeing them again.
Nocht's scent was stronger now and Altan carefully continued towards it. Knowing that his brother was probably patrolling he chose to call out rather than lead him to thinking someone was trespassing. "Nocht" The brighter coloured male called out, now trying to catch sight of the darker red male.

[/blockquote] Surprises come in small packages [scrolly:h(280),w(285),sy]So far the night seemed quiet enough, and it pleased Nocht to know that all was quiet in the territory. That was, until the scent of the familiar male reached his nostrils. The dark lyxxus stopped, pausing, and lifting his head towards the air. Altan called out to him just as he did so, alerting him quickly to his presence. Soon the blue eyes of the lyxxus were turned, facing his brother. His face was in a slight frown, but he back tracked, turning towards the lighter male and walking towards him slowly. He only stopped a few feet away, glancing at him with a more inquisitive look.
What was Altan doing out here at night? He hadn't seen him much since he was home, but he smelled heavily of Reynard's children. Which, Nocht found odd, but said nothing. What was there to say anyways? Altan and Nocht had never been the picture perfect sibling pair, but he did love and care for his brother. His triple tails swished behind him for a moment before coming to a rest behind him. A single brow raised as he stared at his brother, as if to ask "what?". Of course he didn't just ask outright, expecting Altan would understand what he wanted. He was the one who sought him out and called to him anyways.

Once he had called out for his brother, it didn't take long at all for Altan to catch sight of Nocht suddenly appearing from his hiding place and quietly moving closer. In some ways it was odd how different the two brother's were. Altan had proven he was capable of being alone, but even so when he found company he could happily talk throughout the length of a conversation whereas his brother would barely speak, giving far shorter answers than he. Perhaps this was why they didn't spend too much time together, though equally the reason that they got along with no trouble, they complemented each other, Altan was happy to talk and Nocht to listen.
Sure enough, Altan needed no verbal prompting to get started, though this was certainly a difficult task for him. He still hadn't fully made up his mind what to say to his brother, though he was simply going to talk and see where his mouth led him. Not the wisest of decisions but then his mind simply couldn't decide. Sharp choices, no thinking, it was the only way he was going to say anything.
"I'm leaving again." Blunt, very to the point really but what else was there to say on the matter. His tone wasn't quite the bold one it had been on the last occasion though, the young Lyxxus ready for adventure, Nocht would likely be able to detect the sadder tone, that something wasn't quite right, but Altan didn't wait to find out or for his brother to try get more information from him. "I wish I could tell you why Nocht, I really do but I made a promise that I wouldn't tell."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
[atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/Nocht3Mid.png]Everything was so quiet tonight, but it was soothing in its own way. Nocht wondered if that was unsettling to his brother, who preferred the sound of his own voice [or so it seemed to the young lyxxus] to any other noise. He just stared at him inquisitively, wondering why Altan had sought him out. It wasn't often the two brothers wandered into each other, but it happened every now and again. Nocht realised he should probably make more of an effort to spend time with Altan, and felt a slight twinge of guilt at the thought.
But any hopes of that were dashed when Altan spoke. No emotion was conveyed on Nocht's face, but he merely stared at his brother. Leaving, again? He let it sink in for a moment and then frowned a bit, nodding for a moment after he had thought. Altan didn't seem to want to this time; it wasn't a big adventure like the last time. But he wasn't able to tell him why he was leaving? That brought a further frown across the lyxxus' face. At the pace he was going, he'd have wrinkles before four.
It was rare for the young lyxxus to speak, but this prompted such a thing. "If you are in trouble the pack is more than strong enough to fend whatever it is off," he said slowly, his voice somewhat monotonous as he spoke. "Please don't make me follow you around to make sure you're okay. Reynard would be devastated to lose you too." That was all he said before closing his mouth, and waiting for his brother to reply.

The two brothers were close in a strange way, whilst they may not have spent much time together since leaving their den as pups, they still knew each other rather well. Altan certainly wasn't as quiet as his brother and always longed for attention, he was often more vocal and yes, things generally weren't too quiet if Altan found himself in the company of someone else. He could certainly cope with quiet too though, and in the more recent times, feeling a little left out had even sought quiet as an escape, perhaps that only added to the reasons that the two brothers hadn't seen much of each other. So the quiet certainly wasn't what was bugging him.
After speaking his news, he too sat quietly for a moment, watching his brother's face and awaiting to see what Nocht thought or perhaps even said on the matter. Whilst not exactly a vocal wolf, surely even Nocht would have something to say about this? Nothing and then, as anticipated, the darker red male opened his mouth and spoke. Anyone who had attempted a conversation with Nocht may have been shocked at the amount he said now, though Altan had often found he heard more of his brother's voice than many of the other pack members did, even if they didn't see each other daily. With an important matter at hand, it wasn't really surprising to get a full sentence out of him.
"I'm not in trouble Nocht." He quickly confirmed for his brother, wanting to diminish such worries. "I'm ok, everything will be ok but I just have to go do something. Nothing bad." Hopefully Nocht wouldn't worry too much. As for the second comment though, a part of him wouldn't mind having that, his brother following them around too. At least then there would be someone else from the pack. Loca would probably assume that Altan had shared her secret then, which of course he had but certainly wouldn't reveal to her. Nocht unfortunately shouldn't come.
"You don't have to follow me. I promise, it's nothing bad and I'll be ok. No one is losing me, I'll be back." He had joked with Reynard he'd have to think of a plan to get he and Loca back for him to keep all his children in the pack until they too were growing old, but it was partially serious. He had to come back to the children, to his father and other siblings, and somehow he had to make sure Loca would come back with him.
