Nagami trotted down the edge of the beach. Waves lapped at her paws, constantly pushing salty water over her fur. Nagami looked down at the sand, constantly being moved and arranged by the forever moving surf. She stopped suddenly to pick off a piece of kelp that had arranged itself around her paws.
An unusually large wave crashed into the rock she was standing next to, spraying her with even more ocean debris. She shook herself in disgust and ran toward the nearest tide-pool. Grumbling, she soaked herself in the slightly cleaner water, rubbing herself against a rock to work off stubborn sand granules.
After she was moderately clean, Nagami trotted over to a flat rock, laying down to dry herself in the sun. As she lay, she couldn't help but notice how warm the rock was, and how far away the tide was. A little nap won't hurt, she thought. As she drifted toward sleep, she sighed and thought how life was, good and bad.
Nagami started dreaming. She dreamed of warm fields of brilliant blue grass, and trees with leaves as red as blood. But soon the skies grew dark, and thunder rumbled out ahead. She felt rain spatter against her coat, and lightning crashed overhead. Nagami woke up. She soon realized that the lighting and thunder was very real, and she was caught in the middle of a summer storm!
"Help!"She cried out, hanging onto the rock to keep from slipping into the boiling water. The wind howled like an angry beast, and threatened to topple her over. Water surrounded her on all sides. Nagami was stuck.

Sorry I had you wait for my reply. Didn't have the time to write yesterday. ^_^
The sun glittered across the waves as they rolled towards the shore crashing onto the beach before receding backward. A continual action that never ceased, the motions forever repeated even as the days and years passed them by. That was one reason why she enjoyed about the ocean, its constant repetition, systematic, only swelling when the world itself deserved a particularly good lashing. A consequence not on the land, but on those to inhabit it. Yet even that could be foreseen, the evidence usually in the clouds and the change in temperature. Even the quieting of the gulls and life that usually came in an abundance here was a warning, when it disappeared, then the ocean and sky were angry and it was time to flee. At least it gave you a warning before it destroyed your life, one had to admit, that was at least fair.
It was not a serene display of any given day on this particular beach that she faced now, but the angry sky and the fury of harshly crashing waters. It wasn't exactly calming, even if the gulls were quiet, flying just off the rocky ledges, perched here and there, or flying off to safety. She watched them, pale icy blue eyes watching from the line of rocks that fed into the beach, becoming sparse as the sand took over till it reached the waters edge.
Her head tilted back as she felt the breeze increase, finding its way down through the layers of her soft silken coat. She moved gracefully, fluidly, as if within her body she possessed muscles in places others simply didn't possess. Her long tail flicked behind her as she walked out onto the beach, feeling the sand among her toes, which felt somehow welcoming. Her paws moving one in front of the other along the line where the waves stopped and pulled back into the ocean, walking the line between dry and damp. The cold water felt good, the heat seeming to sooth her from the sun above, which caused the white of her fur the glitter softly.
Charis had wandered quite a way down the length of the beach, and the fact that it alone seemed fairly deserted had allowed her to drop her usual caution and begin to relax. She moved at a slow pace, her eyes and head tilted down to watch the sand under her paws. The very weight of her pressing down, the sand erupting slightly around the curves of her toes seemed to entertain her, and amuse her in a way no one really could. She had begun to pause periodically stopping to examine something sharp poking out of the sand. Carefully she would brush the grains away revealing a stone or brightly colored shell. She found beauty there, in the delicate shells and though she wished to create a collection of the pale things she merely smoothed the sand back over them and kept on her way down the beach.
She felt her body shift, anxious to flee back into the rocks, to slip again out of sight before she could be noticed. Yet something else had her mind disagreeing, telling her quietly to wait. She had gone so long without company, without interacting with others, long enough to have her realize the loneliness inside herself and her promise to make a change. With a soft sigh she turned stepping off the invisible path she had been following, moving to make a wide arch around a few rocks. She turned then, up over the sandy rise and back into the rocks. It wasn't doubt that had her pausing, but the sudden call for help.
She stopped walking, her ears rotating back just before she turned her head towards the sound. The words themselves had an uncomfortable little chill running through her. Her head tilted then, wolven brow lifting in confused curiosity before she turned and glanced towards the rocks. She wondered quietly if there was really anyone there. Slowly she lifted her blue eyes back towards the ocean. Then she saw it, of a navy blue and black coat, a female wolf hanging on for dear life as the angry waves splashed around. Her legs moved before she commanded carrying them to the edge of the water where she could now clearly see the wolf. For a moment she didn't know what to say. She could have jumped of the swum over to land... Can't she swim? Charis thought. Clearing her throat she shouted, "What are you doing? Just jump of the swim back to land! There's nothing in the water there." She knew she might have sounded rude, but she didn't know why the wolf was just staying there. Her blue eyes transfixed on the female, waiting for her reply.

Can you use your table? Oh, yeah, the part about time slowing down, it didn't really slow down. It just seemed like it in Nagami's mind.[atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,false][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://fotos.fotoflexer.com/10c6453f9f5c6a669d8f079e1af83297.jpg]
Nagami saw a glittering white wolf call out to her. "What are you doing?Just jump off the rock and swim toward land! There's nothing in the water there!" In the swirling wind, her words sounded jumbled. Nagami gulped and looked at the swirling water. "I can't!"She said. Another gust of wind sent water pelting against her, and she felt herself sliding off the rock. A wave crashed over her, and she was in the water.
It was surprisingly calm under the roar of the surface. Nagami forced her eyes open and for a moment felt almost peaceful. But she soon was pushed back above the surface, back into the chaos. She only had seconds to gulp air before she was sent back under. She saw the shore, so close, but the pounding waves forced her back toward the rock.
She coughed and choked on the water and desperately tried to swim away from the rock, which the waves were threatening to push her into. A huge swell pushed Nagami back under. She didn't have enough time to take a breath of precious air. Her lungs felt like they were going to burst.
She felt herself getting closer to despair, when she saw the fish. Just like her, it was fighting the current, trying with all it's might to get to a safer area, a tide-pool which was close to the shore. She looked at the way it's tail was moving, each wave sending it further along the way to safety.
Nagami looked at it's fins, acting as rudders to steer it away from jagged rocks that could kill it. Then it seemed like time slowed down. Something clicked in the back of Nagami's mind. She started to work her paws in circles, trying to paddle back to the surface. She started kicking with her hind legs, thrusting herself forward. Nagami gasped and gulped as she lifted her head back into the air. She struggled towards shore, making each kick count. She flopped down onto the sand, so tired she could barely move. She moved her head so that she could get a good look at the white wolf. She was surprisingly beautiful in a way that could distract you for years and never get used to it.
The wolf almost looked like a feline, because of her grace and almost delicate frame. Leopard print ran down her flanks and faded away on her legs. Her eyes were framed in a blue ring, and her eyes herself were a icy blue.
"Hello. My name's Nagami. What's yours?"

Nagami smiled weakly. She really had to stop meeting people like this. [/blockquote]

"I can't!", was all that rang in Charis' ear before the gust of wind tore the other wolf into the depth of the sea. Shuddering in the storm as the water splashed around her once clean body, her heart skipped a beat as the sudden thought that this female might be head struck her. She wanted to move, run into the waters to see if the wolf was still alive, but Charis found that she was unable to move, not from just shock, but from fear. Fear of seeing what happened right in front of her eyes. It was like time slowed down for a moment around her, everything when quiet has she held her breath, not blinking to see what the future held.
It was the fierce wave in her face that made the time ease up and speed at it's normal pace. Dripping from head to toe from the salty liquid, she coughed and blinked rapidly to clear her sight. As it cleared she noticed that the female had indeed surfaced, was she dead or not Charis didn't know until she saw that the body started to swim. Still unable to move, she watched as, with great effort, the wolf swam to shore and flopped down in exhaustion.
Stepping away from the sea, where hardly any water sprayed on her, she shook out her white coat for a better look. Slowly she lifted her blue eyes back towards the female, taking in the blue-black coat along her body, and the grey bands around her legs. Definitely a Lupus. Charis thought. She didn't dare move closer, unsure of how this female would react to her. But, that was all before she spoke first. "Hello. My name's Nagami. What's yours?"
She felt awkward at that moment, expected different words to be spoken, but the whole situation now brought a small, but friendly smile over her maw. "If you are not careful, you might not be in the same shape again." she said quietly, her head tilted eyes slightly narrowed in contemplation.
Slowly she dipped her head. It was a silently greeting, and a sign of her innocence, and lack of threat to her very being. Nagami, as she had said didn't seem as a threat and as Charis usually did, she trusted her instincts this time too. Yet even still as kept the space between them wide and her at a safe distance from possible retaliation because of her words. She kept her eyes glued to her, caution still radiating from her as she kept one ear trained on her and one back behind her, listening for any sign of others that might go unnoticed as her attention was otherwise fixed on her.
"I'm Charis, by the way." Her voice louder this time, although still quiet over the wind. Her small smile didn't fade as she spoke. "You where really lucky, you know." A twinkle was caught in her powder blue eyes as she waited for her answer. Even the nature seemed to have noticed that no struggle was going on anymore and the waters retreated and the wind calmed slightly.

Inth was curious. This world, with its open sky and bleached, bare sands was all new to him. He had sat and watched it for a long time - almost an hour he thought - and had seen its mood change. Now it was angry, and the chaos of the clouds with its echoes in the spray and thundering waves enthralled and terrified him in equal measure. It was like meeting a new wolf, he thought with that quicksilver analysis that flowed continuously through his mind. Dangerous, volatile, but somehow impossible to abstract himself from now that he was involved, even as an observer. Speaking of new wolves...
The spray and howling wind dispersed all scents long before they could form sensible trails of patterns, but now Inth's eyes picked out what he had previously missed. A shining white figure standing on the beach - a wolf? Eyes widening in wonder, Inth froze into his position on his lofty sand dune, every grass blade in his mane set a-quiver by his shock. This wolf was like none he had ever seen. She - he assumed it was a female - was slender and pale, where all his pack had been stocky and dull-coloured. She had no plant growth anywhere on her, but was pure and white in the stormy light. From this distance he could not make out any markings, but he thought he detected some blue in her fur even so. Why was she standing there, in this gale?
Inth's curiosity had carried him halfway towards the female before his body had really noticed what it was doing, flowing down the sand dune with his long silver-grey fur whirling in the buffeting wind, making his descent seem wild and tumbling as the waves themselves. Not pausing as he reached the level, compacted sand of the beach proper, Inth ran on like a silver streamer flapping behind a falling cannonball, albeit one that was falling horizontally along the blue-beige sand.
Mind taking the world in at heightened speed to keep up with his momentum, Inth noticed the dark smudge at the edge of the crashing water. Another wolf? Faltering, almost skidding in the wet sand, he slowed to a hesitant trot. Two wolves? Two new wolves to speak to? Excitement and fierce desire to find out more fought with the sudden hollow void of uncertainty inside him. Drawing to a halt a few yards from the pair, Inth realised he had no clue how to address new wolves, or even whether he should be this close at all. Backing up a step, he settled for fixing his gaze a little to the right of the white wolf, brilliant green eyes occasionally flicking to her, then her companion, then away again. He wanted to stare, to drink in the information flowing at him from the new figures in his world, but he knew enough to be aware that staring was not only rude, but could ellicit a violent response. he remembered one of his mothers telling him that. As with everything he was told, he had taken it in, thought about it hard, and memorised it for future use. Well, it seemed that future was now. Staring at the rocks beyond the two wolves, Inth hoped that inanimate objects could not take offence too. Although it would be highly interesting to study their reactions if they should...

Charis watched as Nagami's body rested in sloping wet sand, water still grazed her white paws sending chills down her back. She let the female rest while her eyes scanned the horizon for any signs of danger. A shrill call of a gall echoed as it flew above them. Charis glancing up twice, only to see it circle then land back onto a high rock. No sign of utter disturbance. She tilting back her head letting the wind whip through her brilliant white coat. The wind always had been her friend, never betrayed her. It was a protection of some sort, carrying news as it made it's way around the living creatures of Earth. Had it failed this time, Charis would've remained staring at the blue-black lump of a wolf resting merrily few feet away, but as the bitter sea still - although less wildly - splashed around the wind brought news. The very scent of a wolf. She was in a moment of confusion, what would a wolf be doing here, in a storm? But, it struck her like lightning, that this wolf must be either new or without doubt liked storms. Soon after the scent of moss' and grass filled her nostrils. A Kukkien? Charis had only seen very few Kukkien's in her life as they weren't a very popular specie, but enough to be able to entertain the smell of unmistakable nature. With a last vibrant glance at Nagami the white phantom turned, pale eyes rested on a figure about a couple of yards behind them. A male. Her eyes focusing on him for a while before turning to face him fully, her head held high as she straightened out, resembling independence and strength while her blue patterned tail flicked lazily behind. Scanning over his body, taking in the stocky build wrapped in grey-green tinted river like coat. His face was pale, illuminating his eyes jade green eyes. Naturally as a Kukkien, grass' and other plants seemed to grow out from his fur eventually ending a silver-speckled tail.
She waited, breathing deeply of salty watered air, but Charis wasn't made for waiting until someone spoke. Sensing no danger, as the male would have attacked by now, she raised her voice high enough to be carried over the wind. "What is a Kukkien doing in a storm?" She wasn't aiming to be nice or rude, only to make she sure they where safe in the presence of another wolf. Inside of her body she was preparing herself, as she knew anything could happen now that she's spoken ...

OCC; Sorry, Wasn't on yesterday. [atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,false][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://fotos.fotoflexer.com/10c6453f9f5c6a669d8f079e1af83297.jpg]
Nagami gathered the strength to raise her head and stare at the newcomer. A Kukkien? "I'm still alive, Charis. And who is this fellow?" Nagami didn't wait for a reply. She struggled to her feet and shook out her pelt, sending droplets of water everywhere. She flicked her ear in annoyance as a spider crawled down her leg. Nagami wasn't one for formalities. This was strange indeed. Nagami usually didn't find other wolves here, besides the occasional loner or outcast. It was startling to find two equally young wolves at the cove. Nagami herself was young, but she felt like she had been in the cove for ages. Nagami winced as she felt a sharp pain in her side. She turned around to find a small thorn-like rock imbedded in her fur. She shook herself more, dislodging the thin shard.
"I'm terribly tired, but I do believe that I should try to find shelter before the next flash flood. So should you two."
|
Nagami jerked her head towards the still dark clouds. If there was one thing that she learned from the island, it was that you should never let your guard down. Nagami knew that she should be exhausted from the struggle in the ocean, but she expected that her gravity power somehow helped her keep afloat. Nagami turned her attention over to the Kukkien. It was a male, and he apparently resembled a mossy rock. Nagami knew that in better conditions, he would probably look a little more like a emerald that had bits of grey, but right now he was drenched, and looked like he had seen better days. Nagami set her mind on finding somewhere to weather out the rest of the flash thunderstorms. She found a small den that looked like it used to be underwater, but she ignored it. It would probably flood in another storm. Nagami looked back at the other two wolves, and wondered if she should somehow help the younger of the two. He looked slightly dazed, as if he had never seen a storm. He walked toward the moonlight wolf, the one called Charis. There was something eager about the way he strode, and Nagami couldn't help but chuckle. He reminded her so much of herself when she met Reynard. She was too forward, and she remembered Reynard's confusion as she went right up to him and started talking excitedly. Nagami stopped. She turned around and walked back towards Charis. She sat next to her. Nagami could see how he was almost mystified by Charis. Nagami could understand. Nagami herself was surprised to see a wolf as white as she was. Her mother had been a dark color. Her grandfather was white, but he was more of a yellow because of his age. "He wants to talk to you." Nagami said to Charis. She knew that the younger wolf would probably be too busy looking at Charis to even notice the bedraggled wolf next to her. Nagami shook her head. Why should she care? So she turned back toward her previous task. Getting dry and finding shelter. Nagami looked at her paws. They were a silky black color, a color Nagami previously thought was beautiful. She realized that she couldn't compare to the beautiful Charis. Still, I can blend into the shadows better. Poor girl. She probably has to hunt in the snow to get a good catch. Nagami felt no jealousy, for she was meant to be the way she was. She looked into a tidepool and saw herself reflected in the waters. A momentary ray of sun hit her fur, revealing the blue in her fur. A cloud moved back over the light, causing her to be dark once again. Nagami suddenly looked up and sniffed the air. She had less time than she thought. She smelled something else, too. Moths and mud. The sign of something important. Nagami belived that every wolf had a different sense of smell, and hers was making alarms. The dusty smell of moths was never good. A slight scent of ash and lavender was lucky, and peaches was normal. Nagami hurried on with searching the cove. [/blockquote]

Sorry I had you wait. I was out of ideas as you can see in this post ... it came out a bit ... well lame, no?
He seemed to be frozen to his spot. In the those few rays of sunlight she could make out a path behind him. The Kukkien had run towards them. Why? Was it that he hadn't noticed them before? Or was it that he had been scared off by the fact that he was outnumbered? She could list more and more ideas.
Charis tilted her head to the side, eyeing the male with curiosity glistening in her pale eyes. He was deep in his own thoughts for a little while, at least it seemed to Charis as his green eyes fixed on her. They traveled across her body, settling on her tail as it continued to move over Nagami as well. Why? Why, wouldn't he say anything; Why didn't he move? Why ...? It was always that irritating question she needed to answer very time, always.
"I'm still alive, Charis. And who is this fellow?" Her eyes flicked back to Nagami who now was attempting to stand up. "Good to hear and I don't know." She replied, her voice lowered as she pulled the last word out, her thoughts never ending. The she-wolf turned back to watch the Kukkien. "I'm terribly tired, but I do believe that I should try to find shelter before the next flash flood. So should you two." This time only her ears shifted and turned back towards the other females voice. Charis nodded. "Indeed." She spoke without turning, her eyes still fixed on the mysterious male.
How odd, the possibilities of finding two wolves in the stormy parts of this beach where low, still she wondered how she's gotten herself into this. Normally, Charis would avoid meeting wolves, but maybe there was a time for change, to learn. Besides, joining a pack was still up in her list, why not try interacting with others first. It was like a little voice floated above her head. Course there was nothing there ... just her thoughts, cutting there way through a path that she'd follow.
"He wants to talk to you." A small smile edged its way up her maw at this. Slowly, she turned her head to look at Nagami. Maybe ... That was all she said, before she turned and started her way towards the male. She could hear the other female walking away too, but not towards the male like her. White paws carrying her through the wet sand. Its bits stuck to her paws like there was a magnetic pull between them. Time seemed to have sped up as it seemed like a flash that Charis was right up in-front of the Kukkien. Shaking out her coat, she blinking and looked at the younger wolf. And who may you be? She asked.

Inth blinked, the stream of information rushing from the wolves in front of him, the storm, the new sensation in every particle - it was glorious and dazzling and quite, quite remarkable. Eyes glittering with intense fascination, he watched the dark wolf move away, wondering at the slant of her posture, the emotions conveyed by her very movement. What was she feeling? He tried to impose emotions upon her form, watching each muscle movement until she grew too distant to be clearly defined, sucking each scent from her in and analysing its emotional portent. Perhaps worry at the storm, the need for shelter? There was something weary there and - disappointment? Or was that his imagination.
Curiosity feeling like it was about to tug his belly out of his chest to give it a better view, Inth realised that the white wolf was now suddenly close. Blinking again, he replayed the data stream of the last few minutes, remembering words that he had not consciously heard before. "Ah - I was watching the water and the clouds - their patterns are so mercurial, they never cease to amaze - and the light on the water - silver and yellow and purple all at once! With blue shadows and - anyway, I saw you two and thought you might be interesting to talk to, and I'm so glad I did - you are the first white wolf I've ever seen, and you," here Inth turned to call to the blue-black wolf, unheeding of the distance between them, "are by far the darkest I have known! I am called Inth, and I would indeed like to talk with you," again his eager, dancing gaze returned to Charis, "it will be fascinating I am sure." He paused, gulping the breaths that his rush of enthusiasm for speech had denied him. "Um... why did she have to tell you she was alive?"

Nagami looked over at Charis. She stood stock-still, almost frozen. Let them figure it out,She thought. She moved her eyes back towards her destination. She started walking away, when she heard something.
Nagami stopped. The green wolf was speaking. She wanted to hear his voice. Just once. He was talking to Charis. "I was watching the water and the clouds - their patterns are so mercurial, they never cease to amaze - and the light on the water - silver and yellow and purple all at once! With blue shadows and - anyway, I saw you two and thought you might be interesting to talk to, and I'm so glad I did - you are the first white wolf I've ever seen, and you," There he turned toward Nagami, surprising her. "are by far the darkest I have known! I am called Inth, and I would indeed like to talk to you." He then directed his attention back towards Charis. "it will be fascinating I am sure." There he stopped, panting. Nagami wondered if he had ever even taken a breath. "Um... why did she have to tell you she was alive?"
Here Nagami decided to step in. Just a little. She turned around. The darkest he had ever seen? She had never been complemented before, and didn't know what to say. She decided to answer his question instead. "Hello. My name is Nagami. I was caught in the storm." Nagami hated how blunt she sounded. The young wolf was clearly looking for details, but it was impossible for her to explain exactly what happened. For the first time in her life, Nagami was at a loss for words.
She just sat there, looking like a fool. She looked up and saw that her eyes met his. She quickly looked away, embarrassed.

Slow and steady breaths escaped her lips as her leopard patterned tail swished as the rhythmic flow of a river. No air, no weight, no sense came to her, but only the still silence of brilliant oblivion that rushed her through. It carried her like a current through the brilliant shards of light; it dragged her soul from whence it came and, with a beauty unlike she had ever seen it would ferry her once more into the world of the living. The colors began to close in on one another. Her soul began tighter, smaller, compact as it neared the blinding white that ceased the prisms luminous glow and swallowed all vision into a blinding void. From white to black oblivion faded, and where only silence once held there was a foreign sound roaring into her ears.
The waves were rocked against the lightening shore that harbored her. The tide was low but the lapping of endless waves was always roaring, always rushing to the shore in a sound that could calm any who's ears were blessed to listen.
"Ah - I was watching the water and the clouds - their patterns are so mercurial, they never cease to amaze - and the light on the water - silver and yellow and purple all at once! With blue shadows and - anyway, I saw you two and thought you might be interesting to talk to, and I'm so glad I did - you are the first white wolf I've ever seen," Charis was rather surprised at this, but continued listening as she watched the male look over to Nagami as he spoke. "And you, are by far the darkest I have known!" He turned back to face them both. "I am called Inth, and I would indeed like to talk with you, it will be fascinating I am sure. Um... why did she have to tell you she was alive?"
She was still as she listened to the speech of the fellow Kukkien, whom - as he had said - was called Inth. Breathing out softly, Chairs cleared her throat and began.
