In the mist of the morning a small figure moved carefully along the edge of the pack border. Her father had advised her to stay in the pack lands, so she was using his scent markers as a guide to learn where the edge of the territory was. Her gray pelt was finally looking more like that of an adults. She was growing quickly, she was old enough to explore the pack lands without an escort. Though she herself was an escort to her blind sister most the time. She looked over her slender shoulder and wings, hoping that her sister wasn't struggling to find her. She had left early that morning. Before her parents and sister were awake. She knew her sister would be safe with her father and mother.
Kyita put her nose the the dew covered ground, trying to discern different plants like her mother did so easily. She wanted to learn herbs, not just medicinal but all of them. She wanted her parents to be proud of her, she wanted to make the pack better. Her father was nearing his tenth year of life, she was old enough now to realize that her father might not be around much longer. She had to show him she was capable to help the pack once he was gone. Sure she was not a male, but she was of Reynard's blood. Surely her success meant something to him as well. She lifted her head and began walking some more, stumbling now and then as she tripped over this or that. She bit her black lips every time. She had to get used to her wings sooner or later. Like most keiyou, her wings comprised of half her weight. She opened her pale wings and flapped them experimentally. She could start learning to fly now, she knew that much.
The adolescent turned slightly and began trotting and flapping her wings. Perhaps she could teach herself to fly? As much as she admired her older brothers, she felt like she would intrude on their lives if she asked them for help. With a few powerful strokes she leaped in the air. Her heart jumped into her throat at the sensation that followed. Almost weightless she glided a few feet. She grimaced a little as her dainty paws hit the ground and she was jarred to a stop. Her thin tail wavered in excitement. She flew! Sure it wasn't very far, but it was a start!
Her bright blue eyes scanned the horizon as the first few rays of sunlight began to peek over the lip of the valley. A soft smile crossed her face as she carefully sat down in the grass. One day she could rise into the sky like the sun, but for now she was content to enjoy it.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/Nocht3Mid.png]The young male sauntered around, feeling quite full of himself to an extent, but also feeling chipper. Moonrose was back, as far as he knew, permanently, and he had gotten through his week of suffering. After being nursed back to health by the firey lyxxus he was now feeling quite happy with himself. A weird thing for such a serious young boy, and the smile which begged to be let out, tugged at his maw, forcing him to look quite the sight. His paw steps were light as he almost bounced between the sticks and underbrush. The crimson lyxxus enjoyed the sunrise, a time when he blended in fairly well as the rest of the land was covered in a wash of pinks, reds and yellows. Sunset was clearly better for this, but he didn't mind it either. With the fall breezes gusting in, he enjoyed the weather much more. The cooler temperatures meant that his fur wasn't quite so sticky and he wasn't so quick to anger.
So he milled about, his nose up in the air, searching for just about anything he could make his breakfast. He woke before Moonrose, hoping to show her how much better he was and bring her a feast to show his thanks. He wouldn't have been able... no, he wouldn't have wanted to go through all that pain if it wasn't for her. A genuine smile flitted almost instantaneously across his muzzle. Just as fast as it appeared, it was gone though. But something caught his eye, a small figure with its wings outstretched near the borders. A quizzical look crossed his face. It was one of his half siblings... but why so close to the borders? And surely, not this early without someone accompanying the small child?
Nocht quickened his pace, coming up to where the cover ended. He made no effort to hide himself as he moved towards his younger sibling. His face showed little emotion, three tails swishing back and forth.
"Kyita," he said softly, knowing her name even if she didn't know his. He made it his job to know everyone in the territory, but of course he would know his own siblings. Though he was fairly sure they had never been properly acquainted. "I suppose it's not worth my time to tell you that you should always be with an adult, especially when you're so close to the borders of the pack?" More words than usual, his brow lifted a little bit as he looked over the small femal. She looked happy with herself, which for Nocht to pick up, was good, and he didn't want to marr it or make her feel uncomfortable. But she had to know what she was doing was dangerous. Any loner could come and swipe her, even if she did feel grown up already.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true][tr][atrb=background,http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/Eldarwen5/Wonder%20Why/Gifts/Kyita1Mid.png] The sun was beginning to cast strange shadows over the ground as it carefully colored in the valley. Her whip-like tail twitched happily as she watched the colors appear. Her small ears twitched as she heard her name from behind her. She jumped a little and stumbled to her feet, flailing her wings out slightly. A lyxxus had approached. Her eyes narrowed curiously, he seemed familiar to her, her adopted brother?"Altan?" To be fair she had only met the lyxxus in question once in her life that she remembered, and she had been only beginning to talk when that happened. Her knew he had three tails and reddish...or was it orange fur? She was half a year now, lanky and awkward, but her memory tried to piece things together. No. This wasn't Altan. She knew she had two lyxxus brothers at this point, so she ventured a guess, "Wait....Nocht?" That was the name right? She hoped it was, she didn't want to embarrass him, or herself.
He new her name, so the adolescent was fairly certain her guess was close at least. She had only recently started wandering the pack lands to meet other wolves. That thought brought her back to his subtle reprimand. "Daddy I said I could explore as long as I stayed in the packlands. I don't need an escort all the time..." Her voice was soft and sweet, though she was starting to doubt herself a little. Had she misinterpreted what Reynard had said? She deeply wanted to make him proud, so the thought of maybe doing something that could disappoint him was worrisome.
She looked toward where she last caught one of her father's scent markers, "Why would being near the border be dangerous? I'm still in Daddy's land...." Naivety was something she would always be plagued with. She knew she had to stay in the territory, but her blind faith in her parents caused her not to question the reasons behind that. Her soft black lips pouted slightly, wanting explanations now. She knew Loca had left the packlands, and she knew that made their parents sad. She was just trying to learn to fly and watch the sunrise. Was that bad?

Though they were definitely siblings and looked alike, there were just too many differences between the two. The thought went to show though that he needed to be more present in these little pups' lives. Perhaps this could pave a path for such a thing. He smiled a bit, awkwardly at that, when she said his name and nodded a bit. "Yes, I'm Nocht," he had been there when the two were born, or rather, soon after, but not around quite as much afterwards. It was only natural for her to confuse the two.
He was glad that he had found her before she wandered too far, but even still she seemed a bit upset that he has called her out on her actions. He frowned a little bit as she spoke though, his three tails twitching a bit. "No, you're old enough to look around by yourself of course. But out here, near the border... that's not safe. There are any kinds of wolves who could come here and snatch you up. They're allowed around here because they are loners. Has father taught you about them?" he moved towards her slowly, standing closer to her.
"I just don't want to see you get hurt. If you want to play, there are lots of places deep in our territory you can do so. Exploring the boundaries is something done best with an adult. Out here anything can happen." He glanced up towards the sky, his nostrils flared as he scented everything around them. So far, nothing was going to hurt them and the two were in the clear. It wasn't very often Nocht came out this far himself.

His words reminded her of her father, their father. They just wanted her to be safe. She turned her head as the sun crawled up out of the horizon. It was so pretty, it seemed silly that bad things could happen with something so lovely in the world. The question of loners had been put to her, though she had no real concept of what they meant as far as her safety, "Daddy said that loners are wolves that do not smell like him or the pack. " She recited his words proudly, but beyond that she did not see how they could be dangerous. Why would they want to snatch her up? "Why would they take me? That would make Daddy and Momma sad. Who would want to make them sad?" Well she knew of one wolf that did, her own sister, but beyond that she was oblivious.
"All the adults are busy, aren't they? I wouldn't want to trouble them." A thought occurred to her. Nocht was an adult, and here he was! "Maybe you can stay with me? Out here I can try to fly....I almost got it. Did you see me?" She stood up and shook out her pelt with excitement. She opened her gray wings and flapped them a few times, ready to demonstrate.
"I don't want to trouble anyone, so I thought I could teach myself." The threat of predators had also been mentioned from father and mother alike. Big animals she was supposed to stay away from until she could start learning to hunt. She was slowly learning what prey items were by watching from a distance and eating what was brought to her. The scents were enough to makes some things easy. Though for other predators, that was another task to be dealt with.
She trotted in a circle, hoping that he would say yes to her practice. Even if he did not have wings, maybe he could at least offer encouragement.
