"Speaking" The sun was beating down upon the naked rocks as summer exacted it's vengeance on the floods that had ravished the lands so many months before. High in the blue sky a few vultures circled, casting thier ominous shadows to the semi-wasteland below. The slender sennyo moved carefully over the baking rocks, mindful of bramble patches and loose stones. It had seemed like ages since she set foot on the top of the canyon. She had met a few challengers on this mesa, initiating them into the pack despite her small size. The thought of the pack left a bitter taste in her mouth. The pack was nothing now, it amounted to just as much as the bleached bones that she had seen coming in. She had been touring the remnants of her pack's territory, trying to assess if it was habitable again.
The flood waters had receded, leaving dessicated corpses in it's wake. Luckily the sun had dried most of them out, or the scavengers had rendered them to the blinding bones she had grown accustomed to. The age old female knew that there were pleasant spots in the territory. Getting there was the challenge, but it kept unwanted intruders at bay for the most part. Her black pelt shone in the sun. Her petite paws were covered once again with the red dirt of the territory. Her cold blue eyes scanned the territory once more from her vantage point. To be fair she was not really a pack wolf at heart. She only stuck with the Cadre for Rhia's sake. There were times that she imagined leaving the pack and becoming a rogue once again. Thoughts of a certain rogue male had often visited her thoughts, to tease him more she would have to be out from the burdens of responsibility.
Ahote had taken their pack in with ease enough. Gypsy was not a fan of how he ran things, and she and the big yagi did not always meet eye to eye in other respects. She would be happy to be out from his shadow. Her blue baubles of her antennae bounced above her forehead, taking in the barometric readings as best they could. As far as she could tell the canyon was back to it's arid glory. Her pack could return to the canyon if they wanted. However she wondered if it would be worth returning. Rhia seemed plenty cozy in the Taiga. If her alphess joined the Enclave, then her duties as beta would be done. She could be free to wander once more to her heart's content.
Obligation caused her to turn back away from the ledges of the canyon. She needed to tell Rhia that the territory was safe once more to live in. The waters were back to normal, the prey count seemed plentiful enough. No predators had moved in more than usual. She had seen a griffin soaring not to far off a little while ago, but that was a common sight.
There were also no signs of roving cur that would threaten their claim. At least not that she had seen yet. Her feather-light tail caught a warm breeze, the white tip twitched in the air for a bit as she continued moving her willowy limbs back toward the North. Her blue butterfly wings fluttered gently as she moved, adding even more grace and beauty to her demeanor. Her ears were primed and alter, prepared for any unwanted attentions that might find her in this barren and lonely place.
