Fritz whimpered as his father left the den. The darkness was replaced with brightness and his eyes refocused in the light after a few minutes. It left him in a sort of daze, but he snapped out of it. Full of curiosity, he wondered about the rest of the world. He wondered about what his father was doing. The deer-wolf was gone now and Fritz crawled to the edge of the den amid the heavy snores. He squinted as he neared the light at the end of the den. It was like a portal of brightness to another world. And after a few moments of wonder, he trudged ahead.
His legs wobbled in his sad attempts to learn to walk. His muscles were still weak and he hadn’t crawled around long enough to build them up for a journey out and a journey back. His legs collapsed after he came a ways. His father was long gone to the little pup—probably on a hunt again. When he returned, he smelled of death and blood and meat. Fritz gave a cry, hoping that his mother would hear him. Anybody was good enough. He wasn’t hungry or cold. He was tired and alone. Such an awful predicament.
Raleigh wasn’t too far off yet. He moved slowly, but was far away for a little pup. He twitched his tail as he turned in the glowing tunnel. The moss was rich today, rich and bright. When he turned, he disappeared. Perhaps Raleigh heard the pup, but didn’t care.
“Maaaaa.” The pup cried before going quiet and waiting with silent fear.

THE ideas that had been growing in the mind of the she-wolf for a while were now laid bare and open, for all to see. And for that, Eru was happy. She had a home and a family now, others to share her wisdom with. To lay side by side on a cold night and reminisce of times long gone. The life of a lone wolf was often filled with adventure and action, but for a silver-coated oldie like herself, it wasn't what she wanted. She wanted safety and company. She wanted to be able to share a kill and watch the future generation grow and flourish. She wanted to teach the world her views.
LOST in her musings, thinking about life, the she-wolf spoke softly to the open air, as though she was talking to herself. "Ezzawrath, why are you so bitter, life has been good to us." If anyone knew the thinning white creature, however, they would know that, as a Myou, she was speaking to her second soul. The opiniated swan recovering from a long sleep of many a year. 'Hmph, I can see that. You can barely even feed yourself and besides, I missed most of it. You shut me out due to your moronic tendencies.' The she-wolf sighed, shaking her downy head. She'd tried reasoning with the swan, but she could make it see no sense. It blamed her for it's long hibernation, but she couldn't remember how it had come about. It was a long time ago, afterall.
JERKING to a stop, the she-wolf tilted her ears, a faint sound catching her attention. It sounded like a fearful cry and she remembered that Linnea had made her den around here somewhere. Motherly instinct kicking in, she gave a soft whine of reassurance, carefully scenting the air for a sign of the little one. She stepped closer to the entrance of the tunnel, peering inside and searching for a sign of life. And there he lay, an odd little pup with contrasting colouring. Her old heart went out to the frightened little thing and she approached it, murmering softly and crouching down to appear less intimidating.
"HEY there little one, where are your mother and father? Do not be afraid, I am a friend of your parents." Her pink tongue flickered out and she caressed the pup in an effort to reassure and relax him. Her ears constantly twitched as she sought sound or presence of any other wolves, hoping to find Raleigh or Linnea and hoping not to find a trespasser or enemy. Mustard gaze focused intently on the little white and black animal, she wandered why she'd never thought to experience such a joy. There had been males in her life, but she'd never got to the end stage. Something had always come up and now she was a childless elder. At least for now, she would attempt to help the parents as best she can and enjoy puphood that way.

Friedrich’s ears perked and his eyes wandered around before he focused on Erulassé. Her white face was shimmering in the soft glow of the tunnels and he stared intently on the old wolf’s face, as if she could keep everything safe for him. He knew her scent because she smelled like the pack, but she was not his mother and he was still a bit afraid. He knew the words mother and father, but was too young yet to understand all of what the old winged wolf said.
But, he was brave and wobbled toward her in a weak crawl. He was tired now and only wanted rest. “Mommy…” he begged. His eyes squinted a bit and in his fear, something odd happened.
His forepaws went funny and turned into wings. He turned smaller and smaller and his head streamlined into a beak and a glossy head. He tweeted and cried. “Mommy! Daddy!” And then, he went silent, as if in awe of what had happened to him. His body changed itself and the world turned topsy-turvy. Truly, this was an adventure.
He hopped on his new feet—newly two legged. Though he was tired, he found his new lightweight body was definitely easier to move. He wanted to know why this had happened to him, but giddy with the idea of exploration, he hopped away—still not savvy in flight quite yet. He bounded past Erulassé. He didn’t want to go back to the den. He wanted to find out where his dad went when he left the den.

ULYXES . VENATOR . TOISECH The sky was perfect that day, and as Ulyxes soared through the air, he was keenly aware of the changing landscape below him. At one point he was over a forest, but now the landscape was slowly changing, shifting at a fast pace below him. It was an amazing transformation, really, and his sharp, sapphire eyes kept flicking between the land below him, and the sky before him. He didn't want to run into any unsavory beasts during his flight - he had narrowly escaped the clutches of a dragon the previous day. His wings flapped in a rhythmic beat as he flew, their cream feathers reflecting the sunlight ever so slightly. He was looking for a group of wolves - keiyou maybe, or something. He had been alone for so long now.
Suddenly the land changed once more, and mountains began to rise up before him. He pulled his eyes off the ground, concentrating on his flight now. Even though it was summer, the air here was cold, and the wind was strong. He growled lightly, swooping downwards, and pulling his wings towards his body. He picked up speed as he dove towards the ground. Just before he hit it, he twisted his body, extending his wings. This brought his body up, and he made a graceful landing a few metres away from the opening of a cave. The scent of wolves was strong here, and Ulyxes nodded slowly to himself. Ruffling his wings for a moment, he let them fold onto his back, wandering along towards the cave. He turned into it, finally seeing the shape of what seemed to be a white keiyou. He let out a soft, rumbling bark to alert the female of his presence, and was about to walk a few paces closer, when a black bird began to hop its way towards him.
The bird was small, and Ulyxes' eyes widened slightly. The bird though smelt like wolf, and a young wolf at that. Some sort of hybrid? It had to be mixed with a myou, if it had transformed into a bird. His brows narrowed slightly, but he made no move towards it. The pup was coming right at him and Ulyxes finally gathered his thoughts, moving slightly to block the path of the little bird. "Hello there little one, are you sure your mother is pleased with your little adventure?" he said, his voice low, but pleasant. His tail remained in a neutral stance, hanging limply behind his body, and he looked up, seeing if the other keiyou was watching the pup. He assumed the she-wolf was the pups mother.
Ulyxes was attempting to block the movements of the little pup, almost in an attempt to corral him back to his 'mother'. His maw was lowered so he was on eye contact level with the pup, watching its antics. He kept half a mind on the female, speaking again, "I have no intention of hurting your pup, please don't worry. I'm here on friendly terms. My name is Ulyxes Venator Toisech... I'm in seek of a pack and a home. I had to land because of the mountains and I scented your group."

Shaina slept quietly in the warm and comfortable den. She was dreaming peacefully about valleys, meadows, and different animals. ----- Her dreaming was interrupted suddenly by the cry of her sibling, Friedrich. She opened her eyes fluttering like. Still heavy from her recent nap, her eyes struggled to stay open. She shook her light gray head. Her blinked a few times in an attempt to wake herself up more. It worked. She lifted her head and looked curiously around the den. All was normal--Except, where was their father? Had he snuck out? Shaina focused on Fritz again. She watched as he wobbled to the edge of the den, and soon walked out. She waited a few minutes before getting up herself and wobbly walking toward the exit/entrance of the den. She turned her head back in hesitation, but then continued out.
Her legs soon made her tired. She was smaller then the others, therefore making her more weak. She wasn't sure if she would be able to make it back in time for their mother to find her. She began to hear a faint cry again from her brother. She tried to run for him--but unfortunately fell from under her own paws. She whimpered softly, and stood again. This time walking, but at a brisk pace.
Fritz came into view slowly. Yet still, from the pups size he was already much faster then her. Shaina cried loudly to get his attention, maybe he would wait for her to catch up.
As she followed him, she begun to see yet another wolf. This female was a blinding white. She walked on. She didn't fear--yet. She came to rest next to her sibling and the female. She let out a loud 'Ugh,' of exhaustion. Her body soon collapsed on the ground. Her body shivered, and her stomach growled. She whimpered and lifted her head weakly up at the female. "M-Mommy," She begged. She wanted her mother. She was cold and hungry. Shaina's eyes grew wide as she witnessed her brother's transformation. She whimpered in a strange fearful voice as another wolf approached them. She stood and walked fastly behind the white female wishing protection. Shaina smelled the nice scent of the pack from the female's fur. She breathed in heavily and peeked at the male that recently came. The male didn't smell anything like the pack. This made the myou a little more fearful and she whimpered and then looked up at the female for reassurance.

LOWERING her pale body to the ground, Erulassé smiled softly at the puppy, shaking her feathered head. "I am not your mother little one, but I am sure she is near somewhere." Hearing a sharp cry, she flicked her mustard gaze to where another shape crawled closer, a smaller, lighter puppy. How many puppies were in there? Giving a soft whine, she tried to reassure this new female, nuzzling her fur gently. It was hard to believe these two were siblings, one was coloured black and white, like a magpie, while the other was small and grey, like a little mouse or rat. But then, the old wolf reasoned, they were Myou. She was as different from her dead siblings as these two were from each other.
WATCHING the puppies, Eru's eyes widened as an amazing transformation came over the little male. His little canine form shifted, muzzle hardening, hind legs thinning and feathers growing all over his form. Eventually, before her stood a perfect little magpie, a bird, not a wolf. Blinking, she stared at the little animal, but she had little time to think over this strange miracle before her ears caught a noise in the entrance behind her. She whipped around, protective instinct causing her lips to curl warily over teeth yellowed by age. "Stop right there!" She took a few paw steps forward, trying to put herself between the pups and the strange male.
AS he finished speaking, she relaxed, though her eyes lingered carefully on the male. She didn't believe he would harm the pups, but Ezzuwrath wasn't so eager to think the same. "Well, Ulyxes Venator Toisech, you are welcome. Perhaps in your flight you have seen a young female wolf, or a deerish male? Heheh, I am old enough to be the grandmother of these two." She smiled at the stranger, wandering if he was Keiyou or Myou. She'd learnt to tell the difference, but you couldn't always be sure. Keiyou tended to have lion like tails and warmer colours, whereas a Myou wouldn't really have the lion-tail and would more often be other colours.
"I am Erulassé Valadhriel, the Elder Alpha of a small pack. You are welcome to join us, we are in need of expanding. We are a very open pack, afterall, there is good in everyone." Placing a paw near the little male pup, in an effort to make sure he didn't think about flying away, she dipped her head in a little bow of welcome. "Linnea and Raleigh are the other members and these two are part of their new litter. Adorable, are they not? I am sure you will be welcomed by them all."

Fritz bumped into the paw of the wolf. His eyes were dark beads that fevered with frustration and he hopped again before turning around and letting the wolf corral him back to safety. No more adventure it seemed. And he hopped awkwardly back, his heart beat slowing until it was normal and he felt a painful stretch in his body and slowly, went back. His wings turned larger and less feathered; his face, softer. And his wings became paws and his hindlegs resumed their lupine shape. Over all, he was a pup again and his thirst for adventure was severely dampened because he realized he was going no where.
The black and white pup shivered a bit before settling next to his Rat-like sister. His muzzle lowered when he realized, in awe of himself, that he had done something that his brothers and sister could not do. In smug happiness, he smiled and forgot his mission to find his father. Now, he wanted to show his mother his new trick. It was definitely something for which she could pride in, was it not?
He gave a snort and said, “I’m wanna go to my mommy. Get my mommy.” He tried to summon the change again, but could not will the transformation. Saddened, he dropped his ears and peered up to Erulassé and the stranger wolf with full disappointment.
It wasn’t fair! But then again, hardly anything was fair. The wolf gave a small sigh and battered a bit, nudged his sister, wanting attention from somebody. He knew he was stronger than her. He wanted worshiped and because he couldn’t transform at will, he wanted his sister’s attention.

ULYXES . VENATOR . TOISECH As Ulyxes was waiting to see what was going to occur, another small form joined them from the tunnel that the magpie pup had come from. This little female was completely different from her brother - she was rat like in appearance and she quickly scooted towards the white female, looking around to stare at him. He offered her a small smile,
The reaction of what took place was exactly what Ulyxes expected. In fact, he would probably have been disappointed if the female had not acted as such around her pups. He made no attempts to move. It was her next move, and he remained silent, his eyes on her chest as he waited for her to speak. Her voice softened as she spoke to him and he turned his gaze up a little and smiled back, giving his head a gentle shake. "Unfortunately I haven't seen either, though if you'd like, I can go out and look," he replied, just as the black and white bird bumped into his paw. He looked down, lowering his muzzle again, intending to gently nudge the little bird back towards the white female, who he learned in a few moments was named Erulassé.
"I would be most delighted to join your pack," he said, watching her put a paw before the male in attempts to keep him in his place. Ulyxes decided having a shapeshifting pup that could turn into a bird wasn't exactly the safest idea, and though they could do little about it, they'd definitely have to keep their eye on him. He'd be like a young keiyou, so eager to fly, but without the means to really do so. But he could be taught how to fly, as he grew. Erulassé caught his attention again, and he turned away from the pup to see her bow her head in welcome. He returned the gesture, his head dipping much lower than hers, with a slight tilt to the side to expose his neck towards her.
"They are sweet little things," he said, his maw still creased with a smile. "They look like a handful though. I'm guessing their parents are the ones you asked me if I had seen?" He watched the little magpie pup speak to the female, and he chuckled lightly, offering him a sympathetic smile. "They are lucky to have such a wonderful guardian as yourself though, Lady Erulassé," he finally said, lowering his rear to the ground and reclining onto his haunches.

Shaina watched carefully as the strange wolf spoke to Erulassé. Her body quickly changed from being fearful, to being playful. She jerked her head up and towards her brother. He'd nudged her. In his attempt, his being much stronger than her, Shaina nearly fell. She regained her own strength and looked up at Friedrich. She glared and blinked, until she decided she knew what he wanted--attention. She smiled. "Bubby, how did you turn to cool bird thingy?," her voice was soft and sweet. Then she drew her attention back to the wolves.
'I would be most delighted to join your pack,'
This caught her attention and she walked unsteadily towards the wolf. She started pawing at his paw quietly. She bent her body strangely to the ground and barked once, as if wanting to play. Then she looked at Erulassé for reassurance, but kept pawing and barking.
She looked at her brother as if to join her. She wanted to play. She would play with her brother, but he is able to get rather rough and beat her to a pulp. So could the adult, but the adult would try to be gentle. Until she decided it was rather awkward. Then she ran to her brother and started growling and barking playfully. "Play?" She barked again and nudged him.

Fritz zoned out for a second. All the adults sounded the same to him at this moment. They spoke lower than he did and he kept quiet, knowing that shrieking in their ears would probably bring a quick punishment. Luckily for him, his attention-begging to his Rat-Myou sister proved to work. However, the question left him at a confusing place.
How did I turn into a bird?
He pondered this as his sister turned away to attend to the words of the adults. He, too, out of boredom tuned to the adults. He learned that the newcomer was set to join the pack. Another member in the little pack. Another male. He wondered why he felt so happy.
It seemed that he didn’t need to re-visit the ponderous question of how he did transform into a magpie because his sister ran to him and tried to elicit play with wide and awkward gestures. She played about him with barks and nudges.
He gave her a look like he was going to do her this favor for once, but in actuality he was happy that he would get to play. Fritz jumped upon his sister in vigorous play and sank his needle teeth into her fur, careful to inhibit his bite just before he touched his skin so that he could play with ferocity without ending the game.
