A salted tear fell to the ground. Was being abandoned your choice? Was it your doing? Could you live with yourself? That's what happened to the poor little rat myou pup. Then she was dragged here, to the place that she wasn't used to. She'd learn to adapt, but much too slow to her liking.
Finally she had managed to get a few minutes privacy away from the porcupine myou that was now to be called, 'father.' She knew now that her mother, purposely, gave her to this male as an offering. But that didn't matter to Shaina. The fact is, she done it. Shaina would probably never forgive her, yet she will have to see her again when her mother meets with Archer once again, only to give another pup. Her sibling. Given to this male at the very beginning of life.
Shaina sighed as another tear fell from her gray muzzle. She walked away, now in non-visibility range of the older quailed male. She sniffed in depression and walked to the cold comfort of a nearby tree. She looked up at the blinding night sky and let out a soft whimper. Wouldn't someone help her understand?

Raleigh felt that he didn’t keep his end of the deal. He wasn’t being a good mate. He cheated on her. And he didn’t love her the way lovers ought to. She bored him. He was certain that she bored him. And Raleigh chose to blame her for his inability to be a decent mate to her. It was easier.
The deer myou sauntered through the meadows. He had crossed this comfortable land so often that he felt native to it. It was more a home to him than his own pack’s territory. Then again, what was his rank again? Shaman. He wondered what his duties were. It didn’t matter. He was still shirking them. The lure of the meadows to him was that this was the most common place to find Gypsy. This was the heart of the land, really. A luscious, beautiful, but wonderfully plain part of the land. It was stereotypical paradise. There were no predators here really. Only other wolves. If he led a pack, it would be based here. Right here.
But a familiar scent touched into his sharp deer senses. The prey drive put his senses to work in overload and he snorted out the fragrance of the other wolves. He quickly recognized the smell of his daughter. It mingled with the small scent of rat. “Shaina,” he said, as if to confirm it. A paternal instinct surged through him and he longed to be with Shaina, to tell her that it was his mistake. But then, an alarming realization came over him. She was nowhere near the home-den.
The father gave a short howl for his daughter. He shut his peripherally placed eyes and put back his deer-like ears. So that a crystal note of lupine song erupted from his throat. She was lost. Lost. Lost. Like he seemed to be.
“Shaina.” And that was the only word in his lonely verse. He resumed his search, but with only one sense in working, it would take awhile. If only, she made a noise. Then he could pinpoint her quickly.

She got further into the land. Finally, she wasn't forced to smell the scent of Archer any longer. It felt good to smell the fresh air. She breathed in deeply, hoping to calm her nerves. She succeeded, but the only thing that was stopped was her constant tears. She looked around her, confirming that she was free, away from the wretched 'father' of her now. Her eyes rolled slightly before a familiar scent caught her small black nose.
The scent wasn't too recognized, however. It was faint, she had only met her biological father at birth. Other than that she didn't even recognize him. But she could never forget him, they've always said that a child always knows the difference. For Shaina, this was true.
As soon as the scent came, so did a short howl. It was loud enough to hear, but not enough that Archer could. At least it didn't seem as so. With that ripping at her soft, gray ears she scrambled off running. She stepped constantly on branches and vegetation as she ran. They broke under her little weight, making cracking sounds. She didn't care. She was just in hopes of finding her real father. "Daddy!" she exclaimed.

Archer had left Shaina alone for just a little while. Now he was stalking a jackalope. Granted, it was a young one, and small, but all the better. This was to be Shaina's, and being so small, this would probably fill her up. Plus, it would easy to eat, and juicy. A reward. He thought smugly. Oh yes, a reward. For the great things she'd done.
He didn't usually hunt, but little bunnies like this were easy. Suddenly, he pounced, and killed it with a swift bite to the neck. Standing up, with his prize held in his mouth, he began to trot back to Shaina... or at least the place where he'd left her. When Archer got back, she was gone. He smelt her scent in another direction. Bother, running away.
Setting off in a trot in the direction he went, he began smelling another male. Better not be going after my girl! He thought. Soon, he heard her. She was crying out "Daddy." So, the other male nearby was her father, yes? Well, he wasn't going to take her back!
"Shaina!" He called around the baby bunny. "I brought you some dinner! It will be soft and tender, just for you!" Archer said sweetly, coming up behind her, he stood in front of her and dropped the rabbit between them. "Eat." He coaxed, ignoring the other male nearby wholly.

He didn’t know why this male was interrupting the sweet reunion between father and daughter. He had not been a great father, but here he was, trying to amend it. Besides, his daughter seemed glad to see him. The deer Myou looked at the porcupine Myou, but the fact that the other was a Myou put him at ease, just a bit. Wolves of like species normally eased up to each other more quickly because their pains and pleasures, usually, matched up into some sort of understanding.
Raleigh wondered why this Porcupine Myou was ignoring him and he daintily stepped closer, encroaching upon the dark exchange between Shaina and her rapist. He leaned his head in, his wide crown of antlers trespassing on all counts. Dangerous, but innocently awkward. “This is my daughter, I’m to bring her home.” He nodded to Shaina after he lifted his head. His tail was raised like a cervid flag and he nervously chewed the inside of his cheek. Questions about this situation kept popping up. He wondered what Shaina was doing out here with a Myou. Where was Linnea?

"Shaina!"
Archer's voice made her stop abruptly. A cold shiver went down her spine as she heard paw steps coming up beside her. She gulped. Her body lowered instinctively. She didn't want to be punished again.
"I brought you some dinner! It will be soft and tender, just for you!"
A sigh of relief escaped her petite body. For a moment there she wondering what for, but then it hit her. Her ears fell back as it registered. She looked at the ground and then at Rawls. A short whimper came silently from her maw as she glanced back at the porcupine myou.
"Eat."
Shaina looked at the corpse in front of her. She slowly dipped her head, smelling the dead bunny. She was hungry, she hadn't eaten in a while. Soon she started picking at it, ripping the fur with her sharp puppy teeth. Finally it was edible. She started really eating. Fast. That way she could talk with her father. Her real father. Shaina quickly raised her head when she heard more paws stepping closer.
“This is my daughter, I’m to bring her home.”
She smiled slightly as he nodded to her. She was happy to see her father and was in hopes that he'd bring her home. She glanced between the two, raising her front paw, attempting to walk to the other side. To where her daddy was. She couldn't help but want to be around him. The male she was with now was brutal. Her ears fell back once more. "I can't go with you, Daddy." She paused as she sniffed sadly. "This is all Mommy's fault! She done it. It's her decision." A final sigh came before the small rat myou turned her back and lied down.

Archer smiled as Shaina began eating. It was a kind smile. Sure, Archer was a pedophile, but he was nice when he wasn't in the mood to carry out that title's namesake. He turned to the other as he spoke. The Myou had his horns lowered at him, threateningly, and was speaking of taking Shaina.
The cape porcupine Myou sighed. "Well, if you want to keep that up, I could probably give you a few quills to the face." With that he raised said quills and began rattling his tail-ones threateningly. Oh yes, he could very well slap some sense into the over-pushy ungulate before he managed to stab him with his oh so pretty antlers. An appealing image of the male writhing on the ground, screaming, with quills sticking out of his face and the wounds from them bleeding, came to mind. He listened intently as Shaina vaguely explained things to her "Daddy."
Archer took a step forward, still keeping his whap-happy tail at the ready. "She's right, ya see. Her mother, I think Linnea was her name, traded her to me for some... fun." He smiled darkly at the other. "She wanted pups, and I was there. She seemed quite eager for the quickie, and it looked to me like she enjoyed it." Giving a winning smile, he licked his lips. "So ya see, this little Shaina is now, by all rights, mine, and probably wouldn't wish to see her mother again. And, judging by the fact that you're "daddy" I suspect she was your mate?"

He instantly felt a fireball of hatred for Archer. It was as if all his paternal instinct had been dead and then revived just for this moment. And in fury he accusingly glared at the Porcupine Myou, but then, he went dumbly silent when his daughter explained her plight.
Mommy’s fault. Raleigh’s ears flickered backward as he tilted his head in sad confusion. He was silent as if a deafening emptiness filled the space between these three. It was only for a moment because Archer built on Shaina’s vague accusation.
However, the looming threat was there. The way he bristled his tail and set down the boundaries before he dared to breathe a word against the drifting-apart family of Myou and Hybrid. Linnea. Linnea had traded Raleigh’s only daughter for some sort of adulterous sin. And in his seething silence, Raleigh could only see red. However, he managed to keep a grasp on himself. He could not let the instinct of the buck overtake his reason despite how furiously it beckoned for him to act upon the rage in his heart.
The eyes broke their stare with the enemy and Raleigh resigned quietly. “I… I suppose I need to talk with my mate.” The father wolf knew how he failed his daughter. “I promise to come back for you, Shaina.” He flicked his flag-tail up to show that white underside and bounded off, saving his fury for his mate and leaving nothing but a promise for his daughter.
