It was fall, and it was cold, and snowy, and very, very slippery. Obviously someone very small and dumb shouldn't have been outside on a day like that, but Falim was covered in thick wool, which made him look much bigger than he really was, and he wasn't dumb, he just took his time.
C-c'mon, Fal! It was a voice but not really a voice that the Sheep Myou heard, one he was used to telling him what to do, L-let's go back in. What if a bird tries to eat us, or we fall or something? It was Purpolis, his second spirit. Falim had a brief image of a lamb standing, wide brown eyes fearful, Fal? Fal, c'mon, let's go in!
But Falim wasn't listening. He'd been thinking, slowly, but thinking. It wasn't very deep, just a sort of idea. An adventure. He wanted an adventure. He told this to Purpolis in his slow, rumbling voice, surprisingly deep for one his age.
An adventure? he could feel the disapproval, a dark feeling in the pit of his heart, where he supposed Purpolis must be, B-but.... griffins eat adventurers!
Falim had grown used to Purpolis's way of thinking. He supposed it was because he was a sheep in a pack of wolves, and that never ended well. But Falim was part wolf, and therefore probably wouldn't have been eaten anyways.
"But... I want... at least, I think I want... an adventure..." He said quietly as he sat on the edge of a snowy cliff. The parts of him that weren't covered in wool were getting rather cold, but he didn't care. He could see a lot from up there, when the snow wasn't blocking his view. He could see fields and forests when the weather was really good, and he always wondered if anyone lived there.
C'mon, Fal, let's go in, there's plenty of adventure there! Purpolis urged.
Falim shook his head slowly and continued staring into the snowy world.
"I really... at least, I think I really... want an adventure..."

"Can we play, can we play?!" the little pup's joyous shout rang out and echoed through the mountains. The skipping pup and his mother trotting behind him had wandered for no reason, and the mother's smile was small well she chuckled a bit. "Not yet, Popo, first we must find our clearing." the little brown bat myou rushed forward, feeling like he was at the speed of light.
Then the tree suddenly appeared and the wind disappeared from his body as the wince of pain spread quickly across his face. His mother hurried forward and looked where Popo had collided with the tree. "How come I couldn't see that?" The tenseness from her sons injury tightened her chest more when he asked THE QUESTION. The dreaded question. "Erm.... Popo..."
The she-wolf paused as she spotted her son in the snow-covered clearing. "Falim!" She called, and dragging Popo, rushed over to her son, who seemed to be having a conversation with himself. "Falim, what ARE you doing in this weather?" Linnea used her stern motherly tone to scold him.

Falim looked up at his mother as she rushed into the clearing dragging his brother.
"Falim!" he heard her cry, "Falim, what are you doing in this weather?"
He looked up at her with his soft brown sheep eyes and thought about what he was doing. Slowly, quietly, he muttered "Adventure..."
If Purpolis had been a physical being, he would have glared at the young Myou.
You're not I repeat NOT Going on an adventure! he said, People get eaten on adventures!
Falim ignored the little almost voice and turned to his mother, moving stiffly due to the cold in his un-wooled limbs.
"I'm going on an adventure," he told her firmly, "Purpolis doesn't think it's a good idea, but I'm going on an adventure!" It was the most decisive thing he'd ever said. Granted, he was only a few months old, so he hadn't had much to be decisive about yet, but this was something he was sure of.
Oh, Great Spirit, we're both dead now, aren't we? Purpolis muttered, PLEASE let this insane child see the light...

The brown wolf looked down at one of her darling children and scoffed at the notion of him going on an adventure. "Falim! You're only a pup! You can NOT go on an adventure!" Linnea glared at her son before realizing that Popo was also here and had started crying from her yelling. "Popo, it's okay, it's okay..." But Popo shoved her away and headed towards where he thought Falim was.
He scooped a mouthful of snow to slake his thirst and soothe his parched throat. "I'm going on an adventure, too, mommy." Linnea was shocked. "How dare either of you! YOu will NOT leave!" Linnea charged at them, and Popo ducked as his mom turned into a fox sparrrow and dive-bombed at them.

Falim looked at his mother with his soft brown sheep eyes. His brother had said he, too, wanted to go on an adventure. They could travel together, he supposed.
However, his mother, like Purpolis, disagreed with his idea. And she, unfortunately, could do much more about it than Purpolis. Much to his dismay, she became a fox sparrow and dive bombed him and his brother.
"But, I-" he began slowly, far to slowly, for Purpolis, frightened, had given him a sudden jolt of adrenaline. His every sheep's instinct said that this bird could harm him, and he jumped in fear, bounding away with the speed and grace of a lamb frolicking in a field.
Fear! Fear! Confusion and fear! Falim knew Purpolis wasn't thinking straight, for this bird smelled like a wolf and his mother, but look nothing like either, not to mention it had seemingly attacked them. Uncertain of how to calm Purpolis down, and not thinking quite straight himself, Falim ran, little paws sinking into the snow.
And then... nothing!
In his mad dash, Falim had slipped over the edge of one ledge and dropped a few feet onto the next one. Dazed, heart still pumping with fear, he lay in the snow. Was this the beginning of his adventure? If so, he dearly hoped it wouldn't all be like this!
We gotta go, Falim! Purpolis's voice was calmer now that they were in no immediate danger, we gotta go hide, before that bird thing comes again! Falim, however, tired from his run through the snow, decided he'd rather lay down and catch his breath. Perhaps Popo would catch up, and they could continue on...
OOC: Sorry if it's hard to reply to. I couldn't find a good way to end the reply... ^_^;;

Linnea watched as Falim fell off the cliff and gasped. "Falim!" she cried, changing back into her wolf form. Popo rushed past her, and in a hurry, fell off the cliff. Not realizing he had wings, he fell straight into the snow, landing right next to Falim. For the first tiime, Popo's bat soul, Neruki, spoke to him. Popo, go! Get Fal and run! "Falim! It's me, Popo!" the harsh whisper escaped the pups mouth. "Come on! Before our mother finds us!" Linnea heard the whisper and flew down to greet the boys.
"Just where do you two think your going?"

Falim stood up, shaking snow from his coat, then leaped in surprise as Popo fell beside him. He looked around the ledge they'd fallen on. A thin little path type thing stretched off to one side, and he ambled off towards it.
"I think... at least, I think I think... this would be the best way to go..." he said softly.
All of a sudden, his mother's voice sounded from above.
"Just where do you two think you're going?"
Run! cried Purpolis, and Falim ran again, hoping Popo was following. Along the thin edge he bounded, little legs working hard to escape his mother's wrath. An adventure! He was having an adventure!!! With chases and high cliffs and murderous mothers!!!
Hey, watch where you're going! he half heard Purpolis wail as he almost collided with a boulder. The little myou pup swerved around it and found a small cave to duck into. He sat there, trying not to pant to loudly, and waited for his brother to pass him so they could both hide. Logic (and possibly Purpolis) said to him that the boulder would hide the Popo's entrance and the cave from his mother, and the snow, now coming down pretty hard, would mask their paw prints.
And so he waited.

Popokatamaru dashed after Falim, hearing the snow crunching ahead of him. He ran, and ran. His adventure was starting! Finally! It didn't matter that his world was a pitch-black, that he could never experience color, and he never would, He could do anything! He could, he cou-WHAM! He faceplanted straight into the boulder. He got up and shook the chilly snow off his head. Luckily, he heard the panting of Falim with his superb hearing, and followed his location.
Linnea dashed after the pups, but the tracks were disappearing too fast. "Popo! Falim! You can go on your adventure. Just promise me you'll come back every 6 months!" Linnea sighed. Her lil' babies were leaving the nest, and it saddened her. "I will, mommy, I will!" Popo called from the cave.

Falim moved over to allow his brother room, then heard his mother asking them to return every 6 months. Popo said he would, but Falim...
He wouldn't keep promises he couldn't keep. That wasn't his way. He would never promise something to his mother if it would make her cry when that promise wasn't kept. He didn't want to be responsible for her sadness.
Go on, Falim, tell her you'll come back! urged Purpolis, Then we can go!
But Falim shook his head, crawling from the cave to confront his mother.
"I won't," he said it plainly. He wouldn't lie to her, "I won't come back. I know I won't, not every six months..." he looked down at his cold paws. Somewhere inside, perhaps around the same place Purpolis was, he felt regret. He figured now his mother would cry there, but better to know he wouldn't return than to be anticipating him coming... and never have him appear.
"I'm sorry," he said quietly, "I'm really sorry Mama..." he then turned and bounded off.
You're a horrible person, Purpolis said. Falim grinned to himself, peering over his shoulder as he ran to look for Popo. He had stopped caring, possibly a few minutes before he told his mother he wouldn't return he had stopped caring. Now his heart was full of adventure, of unseen possibilities!
"Wahoooooo!!!!" He howled, leaping over a short gap. Popo would catch up soon enough, and together they'd journey out into the world. No more mother, no more pack, no more being afraid of the others in his family mistaking him for a little lamb and eating him! He was free!!!!
OOC: Should the thread just end here?
