Why Couldn't it be Follow the Butterfly? [Holly]

He lifted a small white paw, letting it dangle in the air for a moment before flicking it. Droplets of mud sprayed everywhere, hitting him in the chest, despite his obvious attempts to get them off of himself. Jutting his lower jaw out, his face fell into an adorable pout, and he turned around, looking up with dazzling rainbow eyes. The form he looked up to was a small unicorn foal. His black coat was shiny, and the sun glinted off it rather brilliantly. He merely stared at the small pup, shaking his head in disappointment. What was he do to? Lick the mud off? Arcoiris snorted slightly at the thought, lowering his head to nudge the little pup. "Go on now silly, it'll wipe off while we walk," he said, his voice soft and reassuring. The pup, Zarcielix, nodded and began to prance ahead of the unicorn foal. Despite his scrawny appearance, he still was quite fluffy, adding an adorable air of cuteness to his prancing. His eyes caught the form of a small butterfly, and for a few moments his attention was focused completely on it. Through a series of pounces he made his way around the meadow, following the butterfly with careful steps. The insect was too fast for him though, and Ciel pounced, over judging the distance, and tumbled over his head, landing on his back in a pile of mud. Squealing in dismay, he wriggled about, his paws distended in the air. Arcoiris, who had been watching his wolf stalk the butterfly, merely snorted, shaking his head again and trotting towards the upside down pup. "So that's how you catch a butterfly?" he said softly, leaning down and nudging the pup off his back. Ciel rolled, finally getting up and then, in an effort to clean himself, began to shake. The mud flew from the pup and landed on the foal, covering his black coat with brown splotches. The normally white pup was now a dirty brown colour as well, and he stared up at his daemon with a goofy grin, his tongue lolling out of his mouth. "Yer all dirty! Silly Arcy," he giggled, prancing around the foal in circles, finally stopping at his front and nuzzling his body up againt the foal's legs. Arcoiris sighed, shaking his head one final time, before looking down at the small fluffy canine. "Great spirit..."

"One day it will be different." A reedy voice declared to the grass."One day, as I walk by, all heads will bow, all voices raised in praise to the magnificent, Lareina!" As if to demonstrate this the owner of the voice tossed her head. The wolf, Lareina, seemed to be in high spirits, as she trotted through the bright meadow. If there had been eyes present, they would have all been drawn to Lareina. She was a myriad of colors, and her brightness paled the field that surrounded her. So many colors dashed across her pelt, it was almost hard to tell where she began and where she ended. Long wings branched from each side of her, and occasionally she would leap into the air, and catch the breeze for a few feet, before alighting on the springy ground again.

Suddenly something caught Lareina's eye. This in itself was odd. Usually the plain wolves in their forest tones did not stand out to Lareina's biased eye, but this one, well, this one was different. It was almost as bright as her, and next to it, stood a dark unicorn. Lareina blinked, as if to make sure her eyes were not deceiving her. The wolf was only a little pup, and the unicorn was only a tiny foal. Suddenly, Lareina's heart swelled with the urge to be a mother once more. With a beaming smile on her face, Lareina glided forwards, landing right behind the small animals.

"My little friends!" She called, her voice shooting through several octaves. "Lovely little animals, pray tell a weary traveler your name?"

His nose was flared, searching for little insects he could find and munch. Insects and berries had been his diet for the past month, and he was growing increasingly weaker from the lack of sufficient nutrients. Finally he paused, his nose wiggling. His ears pulled back and he crouched down, his body close to the ground as he stalked a small beetle before him. Finally he leapt on it, catching the beetle and a bunch of dirt in his mouth. "BLEH" he said, swallowing the dirt and beetle and then spitting out the rest of the dirt that now lined his mouth. Arc, seeing the pup stalk the bug had trotted over, and now stood behind him. Chuckling lightly, he lowered his head and nipped at his neck. "You're supposed to eat the beetle, not the dirt too Ciel," he said, his voice light and airy. Despite the annoyance the pup was to him sometimes, his endeavors always brought a smile to his face. Ciel sat there, his face in a wide pout and his tongue hanging out. It was in this moment that a large shadow came over them. Ciel, didn't bother to look up, still quite concerned about his mouth, but Arc spun, his head turned up to the sky. A dazzling rainbow coloured adult wolf landed behind the two, and Arc quickly turned to face her. When she spoke, Ciel blinked, turning to her and peeking out from behind Arc. Seeing her rainbow pelt his eyes widened and he pranced forward towards her. Arc snorted, side stepping and blocking the pup from reaching the female. "Who are you?" the foal asked, feeling the pup collide with his leg. He wobbled for a moment, but caught his balance, staring down at the little pup. Ciel scowled, peeking out again and then dodging around Arc's legs and leaping towards the female. "I'm Ciel! Well. My name is actually Zarcielix but everyone just calls me Ciel because Ciel is easier to say and much shorter and I like it! Aaaaaand this is Arc! But but but his WHOLE name is Arcoiris, which is very long so I like to call him Arc!" Ciel's tail waggled at warp speed and he stared up at her with bright rainbow eyes. Arc stood there, wary and nervous about the female, twitching lightly as Ciel spoke. "Look! I have pretty colours too!" Ciel said, turning around in circles until he finally stood facing her again. "How did you get your pretty colours? I was born with them, and my mommy didn't like them. I don't know why though. I like them! They're pretty!" he said with a giggle, prancing over to her and trying to stand up on two legs by placing his paws on her chest. "I like you!" Arc snorted again, his ears pulled back and groaning.

She told the young Unicorn, her voice warm...but distant, matching his manor. As her attention was focused whole heartedly on the Unicorn she did not notice the pup bouncing to try and get to her. Her attention only swerved to the pup when it addressed her. Lareina chuckled at the pup, or Ciel as we must now call him. He was exuberant as he explained all about himself. "Why my dear, you do have lovely colors! As for my colors, I like you my little friend was born with them, a blessing I like to think." A purr rested in her voice, clashing oddly with the natural trilling noise. If you could see under her brilliant fur, Lareina was blushing furiously at his next comment. She knew he was just a pup, but she could not help but be gratified with her easy acceptance. "Now," She began, hiding her smile, and speaking in a more serious tone. " What brings a sweet pup like you to be all alone. Where is your mother? Who is taking care of you?"

Something about her made him quiver, and he kept his ears back, nostrils flared. He didn't want to rush Ciel off, and if they tried to run, they'd stand no chance - she was bigger, AND could fly. Ciel though was bouncing around happily. Arc regarded her introduction with a cold nod, noting the distant tone behind it. He sighed, watching her as she shifted her attention towards his wolf. "Lareina! Such a pretty pretty name, like you!" he said, his entire body wiggling with the vivacity of his wagging tail. He positively beamed as she complimented him. "Thank you! I'm glad you like my colours! I like them too, they make me special. And you can always find me because I never get lost! But sometimes Arcy makes me roll around in the mud. He says it makes me better at hide and seek," he said with a nod, leaping off her, running about her in a circle and then stopping again in front of her. "That's so cool, I thought I was the only one! I think they're a blessing too. Because I'm special and like a unique little butterfly! Or a snow flake. Did you know that ALL snowflakes are different! Arc told me. I've never seen snow though. Have you seen snow? Arcy says it's supposed to be cold." His mouth was moving at a million miles an hour, and Arc merely stood there, staring blankly at Ciel. 'We're merely wand-' Arc was cut off as he answered Lareina's question by the pup. "My mummy made me leave! She was mean. I don't know why she was so upset. I loved her very much, yes I did!" he said, pouting a little bit. His jaw jutted out before him as he stared up at her. "Arcy takes care of me! And I hunt for us!" 'I don't know if you can call that hunting...' Arc retorted, continuing to stare suspiciously at the rainbow keiyou. "How come you're all alone? Where are your puppies? Are they pretty colours like you?!"
