ATRiS WAS USUALLY SATiSFiED
[/b] to go about his business tucked away in the shadows. No alignment, no ties to anyone, and nothing to suggest that he would ever step out of line, even for the sake of a stranger. Any insecurities he managed to keep beneath the most dominant part of himself. That was always how he hid them. This fae, though.. she had something about her. A passion for life. A smile as contagious as her laughter; that air about her that made you wonder every time what exactly she was so happy about. She beckoned him to move with gleaming sapphire blues and liquid movements, but he wasn't sure if now was a time to roll belly-up in play. The breeze toyed with the Yagi's ginger coat, dancing it this way and that as the he stayed poised, tilting his head ever-so slightly. He exhaled what was presumed to be a cough, almost somewhat of a snort of laughter before whirling around to watch her land the brief flight over his head. Offering a lazy grin, he revealed his pearly daggers and emitted some form of a playful growl in her direction. "I'm afraid 'fun' isn't a word I'm familiar with," he mused, tail waving furiously behind him. "But my boredom prevails. Lucky you."With that he bounded forward, and in less than a few footfalls had reached the femme's locality. He tackled her then, throwing them into a disjointed roll, applying as little weight and power to the impact as possible while craning his head to the side to avoid stabbing her with his pathetic set of horns. The tumble lasted no more than five seconds before he proceeded smoothly out from under her, careening back onto his feet. A laugh felt foreign in his throat, but it came in soft, raspy portions. “Ah come now. Did you not have fun when you were a pup?” She stopped and questioned him, “Fun is a part of life, even if other ways dominate it. You need to have fun once and a while.” As she spoke, her wings folded upon her back once again. She stayed poised, her body still in the playful stance it had been to begin with.
As he came charging at her, she tried to run but it had been to late. Before she could react fast enough, he had landed on top of her, her belly up. She laughed, swatting at his face with her paw though softly. She didn’t like to play rough, at least not all of the time. She did not fear being stabbed by his horns, figuring he would not let something like that happen to someone who only meant to play and laugh. She climbed out from under him as he got off her, lowering her upper half once again. She tackled him in return, biting at his ear before running off in the opposite direction.
She weaved through the tall grasses of the prairie towards the pond. She stood at it’s edge, waiting for him to come at her again before she would step sideways so he would land in the water, or at least that is what she hoped. It had been her plan. She loved to play in water even if it was only a puddle but only when she was comfortable with her surroundings. You never knew what lurked around every bush and tree.

THE YAGi GRADUALLY iNHALED,
[/b] feeling the air vibrate in every vessel of his lungs as he watched her sprint away. Recovering from the tackle, he gave chase, joints flexing smoothly with each long stride. The simple euphoria, the high, of being able to run somewhere - toward something - kept him moving. Dusk was beginning to draw near, bleeding the sky a multitude of grays in its essence, but he still caught sight of and targeted in on Blaze's petite conformation up ahead. Thankfully it was still warm, the oncoming of night, but that didn't necessarily mean the water was. Atris' leaping, fast-paced flight transitioned awkwardly into a choppy lope, and into the body of aqua he plunged. It was pleasantly cool, contrasting to the temperature of day. He stayed under, absorbing the water into himself - maybe trying on some primal level to shed light into his dark, lonely heart, even if there still wasn’t much of it left to illuminate. It just felt so revitalizing as it caressed his ears and cradled him, fondled him; he kept it up until his lungs begged to breathe, feeling at moments they'd burst if he didn't. Tossing his head as he emerged, Atris took in a welcome breath of oxygen, drifting effortlessly while froth lapped at his frame. Slowly, his vision solidified itself and the blur of colors became figments that made sense. His rugged reflection was kindled in the water before him; still straight-faced, staring back with a lucid gaze. He was approximately to the point in which his pelt was soaked, paper-thin, rather curly stands clinging to his skin. A drowned rat. Wonderful. Ears swiveling back to mesh with his neck, he kicked his feet against the idle waters, heading toward BlazingTear with a look of playful vengeance in his eyes. "Honest to goodness - you're a real peach, tricking me like that."[/color] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

She side stepped as Atris got close enough. The water that rushed from it’s bed from Atris’ leap had gotten her wet as well, which wasn’t planned but she didn’t mind it. The water was cool but not shivering cold. The sun above had kept it at a nice temperature that it didn’t bother her. Her façade may have mimicked the sun and fire, but water always cooled her off. It was as if she was extinguishing the flame of the day within fire’s enemy.
She watched him, amused, as he stayed within the pond’s depths. She laughed at herself, watching his dark form down below her. She hadn’t expected him to come up so quickly, causing her to jump back slightly in surprise. All she could do was laugh. His fur was soaked, and she could easily make out the muscles beneath his coat. She hadn’t taken kindly to most males in the past but Atris was different. There was something about him that had changed her. Normally she was shy and timid and would often run, especially when one of such strength and power as he approached but things were different. She seen past his dark heart and bitterness that seemed to haunt him. How feelings could change..she thought.
She stood, stepping back so to give him room to emerge from the water. She stifled a laugh, though it came out more as a strange cough. He looked ridiculous! As he came forth, she retreated backwards slowly. Her eyes held happiness and a smile caressed her maw.
“You didn’t see that before?” She questioned laughing, “Water won’t kill ya you know!”

OF COURSE HE KNEW.
[/b] Water only consumed its helpless victims - the ones who allowed themselves to be dominated by its forceful language. He didn't fancy thinking he was helpless.. only in certain ways. Surely not this one, though. It quite actually worked to his advantage, turning the hours he would have spent cleaning his noticeably dirty coat into three minutes. Water was so much more helpful than he remembered. Dismissing the thought from his mind, Atris rose from the water and touched land. Allowing a devilish smirk to settle briefly on his lips, he shook off right there, in Blaze's fiery facade. "No, I don't lie around familiarizing myself with the area like you do. Thanks for the forewarning, Ace," he retorted, feeling degraded when his fur poofed out. With a laugh also cropped short, he then proceeded to nudge - more accurately push - the femme toward the shallows, hoping to get her in. [/color] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

She enjoyed the water’s assistance with bathing once and a while but as he shook, all she could do was shut her eyes so water would not get into them. Drops hit her in the face and chest, though did not soak her as he had been. Like a immature pup, she stuck her tongue out at him, laughing as she did so. It was nice to remember how it felt to be a pup again even though she was far from the age of such.
“Well, I guess next time you’ll have to watch more carefully!” She blinked happily. She turned, sitting with her back towards the water, not expecting what he had planned for her. She didn’t even notice that he was nudging her towards the water till it was to late. Not paying much attention, she managed to turn and land in the shallows of the pond, the water pushing the longer hair on her head down into her face, covering her eyes. She dove under once, allowing the water to rush over her body. Cool, refreshing. It was all there.
The need to reach oxygen came quickly. She came to the surface, taking one deep breath before turning towards the brute. Her brow raised as she sat there at the surface, the rest of her body still submerged.
“Well, I see how you are..” Sarcasm ringing out in her voice.

THE YAGi COAXED HiS HEAD
[/b] in agreement, flicking his tail from behind him. "Yep. No one can resist my limitless charm for long," he cooed, haughtily lifting his muzzle a fraction of an inch higher than all else. He, too, was being quite sarcastic. Inwardly he was collapsing, though, still a lonesome wreckage, his coat continuing to go every which way it desired without his consent or thought on the matter. Still flustered to the point of absurdity that he was enjoying himself with this stranger. He often wondered, what were friends? Was the word just a title we give those we care dearly for, spend a great deal of time with, or does it even have that meaning to such a fickle term? They did nothing for you; took you nowhere significant. That was what Atris always thought - his own life was even getting him nowhere, it was pointless. And yet to this day, he kept on living. Truth be told, he loved life. Breathing. Life itself was a real bitch. But then this wolfess had come and intruded his moment of peace and recollection and sparked up inner emotions he had forgotten that he even possessed, but for this he was grateful. How the Yagi even had the willpower to escape every day feeling satisfied was now beyond him. It was a miracle. For years he had unknowingly made his way past various terrains, his mind not bothering to seed through their inhabitants. Nothing really mattered. It was common that he would literally just end up somewhere, sit down, and stay there until further sustenance was needed, bumping into your average passerby every so often. Seriously; if someone were to track the male they'd find that, although the guy showed great ambition in chewing others out, he lacked quite a bit of common sense and natural talent at just about anything. He frankly hadn't an idea how he lived the way he did. Of course, Atris fancied retaining an image. He was capable of being cocky and arrogant. Jokingly flippant and extravagant and convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that he'd never fall to anyone else, the mere rise of his head that instant reflected those qualities in him. It was a perfect picture of who he was, who he'd become, before that picture dissipated and he fell flat into the water, having dislodged a slippery rock underfoot. The instant slosh of pond water and mud to his face was enough to corrode his pride. He surfaced and sputtered (away from her), his auburn coat appearing metallic in the sheen that his drenched state produced, highlighting every feature. He then met her with a level – but not disrespectful - emerald gaze, again flashing teeth in a grin that would put a piranha to shame. Grinning in spite of himself. "I'm not that careful either."[/color] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

She didn’t immediately get out of the water, finding it refreshing after laying in the sun all day. It cooled her baked skin that lay beneath her fur and cooled off her insides that seemingly felt like they were on fire. She smiled back at him, pushing off from the bank and going deeper. It wasn’t extremely deep but deep enough that it allowed you to submerge fully and swim if you felt the need. She figured the pond would be gone by the following night, as it had gotten smaller through out the day from sitting directly beneath the sun’s wrath.
In the past, she hadn’t had many friends. She didn’t even have someone to honestly and truly care about. Her father was often off with mates he found, creating her new brothers and sisters that she never got to meet. Her mother and siblings were killed one night when a rival male came into the area. Her father was able to only save her and no one else. Her mother and siblings had been slaughtered. She was to young to know what had actually happened and her father hid it from her up until she was old enough to understand.
When she left him, she had traveled. Everywhere she went she was shunned away or attacked, hence the strange scar below her right eye. Many were afraid of her colors and what powers she may have possessed. They were terrified that she would bring fire to their home and in turn would have to find a new territory to call home. She got into fights, a lot, though her physic did not show it. Beneath her coat she held other scars that were almost invisible. Her own heart held scars that only those she would trust would truly know.
Her thoughts wondered, almost forgetting she needed to come up for air. As she did, she managed to watch him fall flat into the water again. She laughed, tossing herself back lightly though it ended up causing water to spill into her mouth. She coughed, sputtered before laughing once more. Her eyes met his, though all they showed were amusement. His though, were different.
“Well neither one of us is to careful then. I’ve been known to be a bit clumsy when I’m not paying attention.” She said in response. The fur around her face was soaked and wasn’t drying to quickly even if her visage met the sun’s rays. The water dripped down over her eyes, making strange streaks beneath them as if to make her seem as if she was crying though she was far from it. She was happy where she was, calm and collected and things were looking up.

ATRiS SHUDDERED,
[/b] a cold chill running the length of his wiry spine as he made slow, idle circles around the fae, the temperature of the pond beginning to reach through to him. He had been soaked to the bone just that morning and hadn't completely dried before jumping right in again, but that didn't concern him all too much. The Yagi was too preoccupied marveling at the fact that he was making someone happy, or perhaps it was his own happiness that had him baffled. Both would've been great. "Are you paying attention now..?" he asked absently, flicking a tide of water at her with his tail. [ Shunned for shortness. x__x ] [/color] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

“Yes, I believe my attention is fully occupied right now.” She said slyly, diving under the wave before it could hit her. She swam beneath him, her wings outstretched to glide through the water slightly, almost as if they were fins. She came up beneath him, taking his tail in her mouth and pulling him down with her. The water wasn’t extremely deep though it had a bit of depth, enough that a large male could easily submerge fully if need be.
She tried to pull him a long with her, her sapphire orbs glowing as the sun’s rays hit them beneath the water’s ripples. If anyone crept across the pond, they would have never known they were there besides the strange shapes that danced down below. She felt almost fish like, strangely enough. She loved the water though she was more in love with the sun.
{I know the feeling!}

THE WATER SWALLOWED HIM,
[/b] but all Atris thought to do was smile. He felt Blaze's jaws clamped loosely around his tail, reeling him under the surface of the pond. Gliding along, he felt weightless and allowed himself to be pulled around, enjoying the fact that the motion didn't require an effort; moving without really moving at all. When he felt the need to call the shots, he squirmed a bit to get free of her grasp and proceeded to swim beneath her. With a string of bubbles his feet propelled off the bottom and he rose quickly, his back contacting her soft underbelly as he hoped to bring her up with him. It was a jaunty impact, one that could possibly send her a few extra inches into the air when they'd re-surface. He wanted to see her fly. At least someone could. She pulled him gently beneath the water, hardly any effort taken. Though he was much heavier than she, it took very little effort to move him. The water seemed to help that part. The water made you feel weightless, light. She had to struggle to keep herself submerged since she was fighting the floating urge. She released him as he struggled, though she quickly tried to get away.
It was a lost cause. Before she knew it, he was beneath her body and was forcing both of them up from under the water. Her wings readied, just in case. The light was coming closer as they rose higher, her sapphire orbs watching as they went up. Just before they hit the surface, her wings outstretched and she tried her hardest to jump into the air. It was not as graceful as she had hoped since the water weighed her down. She did take into the air though, her wings fully outstretched to take in the last rays of the sun as night approached. She rose high, turning back around quickly to head back towards the pond.
Her land was soft as she came to the water’s edge, shaking off the last of what water remained. She gleamed, it had been a long time since she had had this much fun in her life. She laughed, rolling over into the grass on her back, her belly exposed to him and the sun’s small light.
“Now you can’t say that wasn’t fun!” She said, her tongue lolling from her mouth sideways. She felt like a pup again.

HE WATCHED HER FLY.
[/b] It was a brief moment, but a beautiful one. It made him wonder what it'd be like if he weren't weighed down by a thick stature and heavy bones; if he were as light as the feathers that bridged the backs of birds and Keiyou alike. Ultimate freedom, it must have been fantastic. When she took the air, leaving the water's surface of wild ripples, Atris felt anchored to the ground. He couldn't leave it, escape into the horizon when he saw fit. Even as she landed on the dried grasses of the prairie and the Yagi joined her there, a chain seemed to hog-tie his heart, causing an uncomfortable heaviness in his chest as it lurched, filling with air. Until he died, he'd never leave earth. Shaking his coat, Atris toppled over onto his side beside Blaze, an uncharacteristically soft smile setting onto his face. He watched her like a lenient father would observe the behavior of his pup, tail a-twitch and occasionally flicking her way. "Fun."He tasted the foreign word, never averting his eyes from her fiery facade from which a pink tongue happily protruded. [/color] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

She would show him more as time went on, for now, all she wanted to do was dry and relax in the remaining rays of light. Her family had been gifted with flight, though they had bore a different pair of wings than she. None of her family had originally looked anything like her. Her fiery appearance was hers a lone.
She rolled over to her side, her head rising with her eyes meeting his gently. She had never had this much fun with a male before, especially with a brute such as he. He was definitely different but he made her heart thump hard in her chest. There was something about him, unknown fully to her that made her whole world disappear around them. She had forgotten the time of the sunset, one of her favorite times of day and she forgot every worry she ever had in her past life. She laughed softly at his expression as he sounded out the word of fun. She didn’t quite understand why it was so foreign.
She felt protected beneath his gaze, though she knew she was no pup anymore. She hadn’t been a pup for many years. Because of her father’s strange ways, she had to grow up quicker than how it should be.
“Have you not had fun before?” She questioned him, “Not even when you were a pup?”
