She had never liked firefly's. Just the way they could naturally create light, and do it so well, they had been her childhood jealousy. Tonight, the way they illuminated the swamp of Laika... It was tantalizingly horrible. Wen had to turn away and focus on a protruding root to get her mind off them. But along the edge of her vision, she could still see them, blinking. On and off, on and off, illumination, lights, magic... She let out a mangled growl. God, where they annoying. Turning yet again, Wen stalked away from the sight of the flickering annoyances and to a dark area of the swamp.
As she settled down to sitting on a not quite damp part of the ground, she smiled. Finally, some time to her own. None of them, no others to interrupt her. She sat back and closed her eyes. Staying still and listening the the sounds of the swamp. The best medicine.

Once again Dritan had wandered away from the cold of the Knight's territory. Honestly, he still wasn't sure why he'd picked such a chilly land for his home base. His coat had never been extraordinarily thick. If he was so easily bothered by the temperatures now... The male shook his head, not wanting to think about the coming winter.
Instead he focused on where he was headed, eyes glued to the ground as he picked his way through water and roots. He'd been much more careful in where he roamed, not wanting to encounter another even like that one in the lands of the Children. Trespassing was not a habit he wanted to develop. Thus, Dritan found himself roaming through the swamp, the path he chose lit only by the playful glow of fireflies.
He paid the bugs little mind, instead focusing on the peace of the place. It would have been much nicer if his paws didn't manage to squelch so frequently. He could put up with the annoying sound though. It was a fair trade for the lovely evening. The evening would have continued to be pleasant, too, if he'd bothered to pay attention to where he was heading.
Dritan's entire body froze, muscles tensed as he turned and caught sight of a familiar female. His ears pulled back in dismay, the shame he'd felt during their previous encounter already bubbling up to the surface. His mouth parted slightly as if to say something but no sound dared to sneak out. He was caught, much like a deer in headlights, and at a loss for what to do next. Given the distance between them, he wasn't sure if she saw him or not. Either way, his body refused to move while his brain refused to function. Already he was at her mercy and yet he hadn't even said hello.

Branwen was finally settled down, away from the fireflies, and sitting in a not too soggy spot of land, she felt much more at peace than she had been the past few weeks. Over time, tension had slowly built up in her and now once she had some time and had gotten most of it out over her little fit over the 'bugs.... well, she just felt better somehow. So, when she heard the sloshing of someone walking through the soggier parts of the swamp, and sniffed the air only to find out that it was him. The wolf that she had...accidently? No, it wasn't on accident. But she had gotten frustrated with him any how, and she felt bad for doing so.
She slumped against the tree root that happened to be being her. Looking down, she focused a bit on spelling out two words.
"I'm sorry."

Dritan's eyes widened slightly before he shook his head back and forth. She had nothing to apologize for. If anything... "I'm the one who should apologize." His voice was soft as he dared to step closer, his eyes trained on the ground.
When finally he stood only a few feet before her, the light lupus dared to peek up at her. A nervous smile was on his face as he forced himself to concentrate. He wanted to show her that he'd taken her advice to heart and was really trying to learn how to use his powers. He may not have been perfect with them, but he'd lately been spending a lot of time practicing.
Before him, four crooked, wavy lines appeared in the air. To the female they were backwards and it wasn't exactly perfect, but it was a genuine attempt for him to spell the word, "Hi."

The words lit up the dark Laika night around them. Branwen looked at them a moment, her mind taking awhile to adjust to reading them. Most of the time, it was her that did the spelling, not the reading. But he had taken up on her words, he had practiced, and was better.Better in all but the positioning part, back words words? She would have laughed if she could.
Branwen worked on spelling out a reply. I don't think you ever told me your name. They appeared in front of her, facing the right way, flickering. She wasn't that great at the big sentences unless she had emotion to back them up. Focusing on keeping them up there, she glanced at Dritan and waited.

The darkness between them settled for only a brief minute before the female's own words lit up the night. His name... He hadn't told her his name? A hot blush lit up the skin beneath his fur. Had he really not introduced himself to her? How could he have so completely forgotten his manners?
Hanging his head, the yellow male stared timidly down at his feet. He couldn't bring himself to meet her gaze, embarrassment burning him to the core. "I'm, um uh... d-Dritan. I'm Dritan," he mumbled out, hoping she could hear his quiet tone. He couldn't believe he'd gone this long without introducing himself! For several long moments he continued to stare down at his paws. Then, finally, he timidly peeked to catch her words as he asked a small question of his own. "You?" He hadn't been the only one to fail at introductions.
