His pack was dead now. The leaders had abandoned their duties and left all of the pack members in the dust. They had to fend for themselves. He gave a sigh. Perhaps this was a sad hint that he needed to fix things with Gypsy. The scar on his cheek was noticeable and a constant reminder to how he had betrayed her.
He had been following her scent for several days by now. She had crisscrossed these mountains, he was sure. Raleigh lowered his nose to the ground and sifted through the scents. Perhaps she knew his pack had died. Perhaps she knew that she would be harder to trace when her scent was mingled with the scent of other wolves. But Raleigh had remembered her scent. He remembered everything about her, even her anger.
He felt foolish, but the years had made him wiser. He wanted her to see that. “Gypsy?” he called. “Gypsy!” he cried out louder. Brown eyes were watery as the Spring winds blew hard. His antlers were prouder now, larger. His neck had thickened and he looked much stronger than he used to. Oh, what a year had done. “Please. I just… want to talk.”
His brown coat was thick, shedding. The seasons were changing. Raleigh only wanted to do right by her. And… perhaps she could feel the same way for him. I’m a fool. Why do I love her? Why must I have her?
His lust was what brought him to this low. He had abandoned his family, pups and all. He wanted more than that. Raleigh wanted something better. His hooves split the soil and sent pebbles falling down the mountain side as he started his trek down. “Gypsy!”
He stiffened his legs as he slid down the mountain side. And then, he found a flat place. It smelled strongly of her. Raleigh bowed his head. “She was here…” He continued his search, calling for her all the while.

It was one of those dark places you would avoid, especially during the spring when snakes were active. Even snakes would shy away from the current inhabitant of the hidey-hole. Cold blue eyes pierced through the darkness as a name floated on the wind. Him again.....how quaint.
Long spindly limbs reached out of the dark hole, displacing the remains of one of the snakes that had lived there before Gypsy came upon it. The thin sennyo folded out of the den, stretching and shaking off the dust and spiderwebs her shelter had deposited on her. She opened her wings, trying to iron out the few wrinkles the tight space had created. The brilliant blue flashed in the sunlight. She peered around the corner of her small shelf and glared in the direction of her caller.
Her anger was still there, but now she was slowly becoming more amused by his....lust. Her bitterness just further hardened her callous heart.

He knew how stupid he was to leave a wolf who loved him in search of one who loathed him. A flash of blue in Raleigh’s peripheral caused him to stop and investigate. Gypsy, even though they had been apart for so long, he had memorized everything about her. The curves of her body, her frail form that had somehow lasted decades more than his meager form, and of course, that icy wit of hers were what made her irresistible to him.
He neared his precious Gypsy, a treasure that he could never hold. “There you are…” Awkward. He knew it was going to be. Painful, it had to be. The last time they met, she was pushing puppies out of her womb. And those were the puppies that she only carried because he had raped her. There, he admitted it. But why couldn’t she forgive him? If there was one thing he could have before he died, it would be her forgiveness.
“Gypsy.”
The deer’s soul looked at the spindly legged female as if she herself was a doe. There were two sets of eyes burning for her. But Raleigh kept the second spirit’s instincts in check, not wanting a repeat of the time before or a relapse in whatever progress their relationship had made. If any.
“Give me another chance, please.”

What was once alluring...well tantalizing, had almost vanished. She was mused by his lust yes, but it took her months to get to that point. She had regained her figure, it looked as if nothing had happened, aside the more supple form of her hips. That, she had come to realize, actually complimented her body more than she expected. er vanity, as always, trumped everything.
Had he come looking for another beating? Another spat of words and unrequited emotions? Yes. It seemed he would always come crawling back....it gave her a sense of power over him, even more than she already knew she had. Her eyes were emotionless, aside a spark of contempt.
"What is it, deer-boy?" Her words were icy, she didn't want to give him the satisfaction of hearing his name uttered by her. Her antennae unfurled from her neck, arching over her head as if she were raising her tail in dominace.
"Another chance to what? Show me your love by violating me again?" She took a step toward him, her feathered-boa like tail twitching on the breeze. "Or do you want me to just turn around and lift my tail for you, so you don't have to exert yourself by over powering me."
Perhaps there was still a bit of anger in her heart. He just had a way of filling her with bile. Yet he still wanted her. She could smell it, see if, sense it. She liked being wanted, but she also wanted him to suffer for it. Perhaps it would turn into a cruel game, baiting him with the hope that he might have her, just to rip it from him....

Destry was making the Myou’s blood run hot. Furious, he was almost losing control. But he didn’t want to ruin things, not when he got so far. The only reason he was able to get close to her the last time was because she was, well, heavily pregnant and then, she was giving birth. He didn’t want control over her and he didn’t want her to control him. Her mental games were his opium. He wanted her because he loved to struggle in her stupid games. Like a fly in the spider’s trap. God, she was a beautiful spider.
“What is it?! What is it?!”
He wanted to be angry with her. But that venomous way her eyes gleamed and that smart way she spoke. She was attractive. And now, her hips were wider, more motherly. It softened her features just enough to make her irresistible.
“I don’t want sex,” he puffed out his chest. That scar she gave him made him look distinguished, tough. He was proud looking, and he looked like he had had enough life for two wolves. “I’ve had it with you already. I just want another chance.”
Raleigh narrowed his brown eyes. “Do you really think I’m so simple? I just want another chance to explain myself.” Oh, if only she knew how it was to live with two souls, two sets of instincts: conflicting, confusing, and so damn difficult.

He had done something to her that no other wolf had done. No matter how she fought it or pretended to not care, he had gotten the better of her and had pups by her. The same shadowy figure flashed through her mind....tall and lithe. Why did this ...myou remind her so much of him? She hated it. Though her inner turmoil was masked by her callous expression. Raleigh just wanted to talk.
In an attempt to push the distant past from her mind, she gave in, "Fine. Talk." There was a clip in her tone, the only presence that something else might be going on behind that icy cage of a gaze. She sat down, facing him head on, her chin help with slight indigence and her wings open to absorb the soft sunlight.
The tension in the air was almost eddible. A thick cloud that acted as a buffer between them. Maybe all they should have done from the start was to talk. It could have saved so much grief. Each was attracted to the other by means no mortal could explain...

He wanted to explain himself precisely, without interruption. “It wasn’t me that raped you, Gyp. It was Destry. Do you know what it’s like to have two minds, two souls? Do you know what it’s like to have two hearts beating for one wolf?” He wanted her so badly because she was so wise, so beautiful, so exotic.
Raleigh sighed and knew that there was no way in hell for Gypsy to forgive him. He expected her to spit on his explanation, on the fact that he was trying to explain what it was to be a Myou with such a strong second-soul. “You know me, Gyp; you know I’m not like that.” He fitted himself with a sad expression, a desperate one. He thought that he wanted her forgiveness. He seriously believed that that was the reason he was chasing her so doggedly.
“Remember Gypsy, when I was that young fool? What do you think of me now? Do you really consider me an enemy?” He didn’t step closer to her, but he also didn’t step away. He stood there, afraid that any motion would be considered a threat and that, like a butterfly, she’d be gone.

She didn't make a response though, she just listened, just like he wanted. Two souls or not, the one body shared is what did the damage, no matter who was controlling it at the time.
She did have a sliver of sympathy for a brief moment that flashed in her eyes, maybe she did know what it was like. Years ago she was a different wolf....softer, sweeter more open to expressing emotions and giving oneself fully to another. That all changed with one wolf. She had forever shut that side of her away, so maybe she had a slight similarity. If only that.
A young fool. That's what he was, what she had once been. How DID she view him at this point, she actually took a moment to mull it over in her mind. " A wise fool..." She almost whispered it, he had grown much since she had met him...but he was foolish for trying to ask her forgiveness...even though she just might be willing to give it to him. But her pride and her vanity stood in the way. Maybe he was a fool for making it about himself rather than the female he was seeking. Never once had he asked about her side of the matter....she was always an object to be coveted by him.
Truth be told, she did not consider him an enemy, as twisted as it was, he was the closest thing she had to a friend....but could she bring herself to tell him that?

All that he has done. All that she has done. Everything that was between them, Gypsy had summed up her point of view. Raleigh turned his head away. “Gypsy, you do know that the word sophomore is thought to have come from those two words? Sophos, wise; moros, foolish.” Raleigh looked at Gypsy. “Perhaps all the love I’ve had for you has been sophomoric. In that case...” He took a deep breath and exhaled it in a gentle sigh.
Despite his calm breath and stance, there was no denying the extreme sorrow and disappointment in his eyes. “...I don’t want you anymore.” The words lay cold in the air. His tail was raised, but not even he knew if it was a deer’s flag of danger or a wolf’s dominance. He had wanted at least forgiveness, but she couldn’t give it to him. He realized how stupid she was now. To be a slave to her own conceit. He was almost disgusted that he loved her once enough to chase her down, to want her. But he knew the lies laced in his thoughts. Despite his epiphany, he still wanted her as a friend, maybe even a mate.
In an effort to re-align his thoughts against her, he said, “You obviously do not want me.” That was it. His eyes were pained still. His heart beat in his chest like a bird against its cage. He didn’t dare say any more because he feared that emotion would overtake his voice and that he would start crying for her to come back to him.
I want you, You cold-hearted bitch.
He quietly wondered if she ever loved him. And he quietly hoped that she did.

He never loved her, he would have picked up on subtle things like her guard dropping. However he was oblivious to all but himself. How selfish he was. They were looking at mirrors when they gazed at each other.
She stood, perhaps to walk away. Though something stopped her, her ears twitched. " I'm sorry, but know this, maybe it will help you understand. For one hundred and ten years I have avoided getting pregnant. The idea of having to rely on another again terrifies me. I don't want to repeat that mistake." There she said it, she showed to him that she was mortal, actually did have true emotions like fear and insecurity.
"Think of me how you will....but I have my reasons for my actions, for my emotions. For what I am." Had she known him long ago, things would have been different. She could have loved him, rather than just wanted him. The terms were different now, she really didn't know how she felt.

You can be a bitch because you have your excuses. But I can’t make one mistake without losing your trust forever. That is why I let you go, Gypsy. I don’t hate you, but neither do I claim to love you… not anymore.”
His ears were pinned back, as if in shame. He was ashamed. Really. Everything he had done while he had known Gypsy had been in shame. He had shamelessly bred with a female he cared nothing about. The only reason she and he had been mates was because he couldn’t just leave her. Despite how he acted, he was a wolf of honor. At least, he liked to think of himself as such.
He had to leave now before things got ugly. He barely had Destry’s desires in check. Raleigh turned around abruptly. “I suppose that was all we have to say to each other then.”
It didn’t matter how one measured it. Raleigh had grown since he first met Gypsy. He still couldn’t decide if it was for the better or for the worse.

She said nothing, allowing him to lash out if he wanted. He really was self centered. He didn't even bat an eye at her side of the story. Whatever. She was not sure how she was holding double standards, she just told him how things were. She was a bitch, yes, she would admit to that. He turned away from her, her eyes narrowed, wings flaring out slightly. Like he would get off that easily. " Forgivness....like trust...has to be earned, Raleigh." She then also turned to go back to her cubby hole. It was her way of giving him another chance, saying what she said. She wondered if he would listen, since he hadn't thus far. She reared up, placing her forepaws on the lip of her little home. She paused there, thinking to her self.[/blockquote]
