Had she not been a penguin myou, the little wolf pup surely would have drowned in the swirling depths of the water. Due to her second soul though, the wolf pup was able to hold her breath for quite some time, and fight her way to the surface for desperate gulps of air. Each breath was harder than the last, and soon it was nigh impossible for the little female myou to reach the surface. Pawing vainly at the water, she felt her consciousness ebbing away, the world screeching to a sudden black halt. The pup, on the verge of death, was swept downstream by the current, finally deposited gently on the side of a river bank. After spluttering for a bit, Isealdyr lost consciousness again, barely aware of her state. She knew she was out of the water, but besides that, she knew little of her surroundings. Her mind and dreams were a swirling dark mess. She could see her mother on the edge of the river screaming at her to swim harder, to come back. Her father was on the edge, holding her mother back from diving in right after her. Her brother, Meso, drenched, but able to escape the clutches of the canyon river. The tears streaming down her mother's face made her heart lurch and she wanted to scream out and tell her she was okay. The memory ended ubruptly with another coughing fit, and she rolled over, opening her eyes, and hurling a huge amount of water out from her stomach. She groaned, laying her head down and closing her eyes. Black dots splattered the insides of her eyelids, causing her head to spin. At least she was out of the water and safe for now. Keeping her eyes closed, she tentatively sniffed the air. It smelt so entirely different than where she was from - far more humid and she could smell plants and trees. Groaning again, she probed her mind, trying to find her second soul. Aowyn would grok how she felt, having gone through the ordeal with her. The connection seemed strange though, and the voice of her second soul was small and insignificant compared to what it usually was. 'You're in a new place, Isy. We need to find home.' Isealdyr scoffed slightly; she knew that well enough. She sighed, opening her eyes once more to the world. The sunlight was harsher than she remembered it, and she was forced to squint until her eyes adjusted. Soon enough they did though, and she glanced around her, searching for some sort of landmark. She saw little, and turned to look at the river. On the river shore was a small grey and black bird. Isy blinked, staring at it in curiosity, and then realising that the bird looked exactly like she did. Dumbfounded by this fact, she fell back onto her haunches, her mouth gaping open a bit. It was only at that moment did Isealdyr notice something was different - her paws were white. "... what..." she began, but her mouth couldn't form the thoughts that ran through her brain after this. She spun around quickly - a motion which caused her head to spin - realising her entire body was now a pure white colour. "I don't..." she growled a little bit, sounding more cute than menacing. The little penguin seemed to churr at her bewilderment, flapping her flippers a bit. "Stop that, Isy, you look ridiculous," the little bird seemed to say. Isy squealed a bit, staring at it and growled once more. "Shut up bird what did you do to me!?" her little voice squeaked as she glared 'menacingly' at the penguin. It merely chortled again and this time Isy heard the words in her mind. 'It's me, Aowyn.' Isy's jaw dropped and she stared at the bird before groaning once more and falling to the ground unconscious. xxx

The ever traveling Keiyou had been to coves, mountain, forests, and even grasslands, but she had never been to the Connewa Meadow. She didn't know what to expect during her time here, but from the sky she could clearly see that the land being consumed by a swelling river. That could be a good thing, since it would mean access to fish and other small prey that could feed the beast she called a "stomach".
From her vantage point in the sky, the tan-colored Keiyou saw a small ball of white fluff laying on the river bank, and another ball of fluff near it. Coming in for a careful landing nearby, as to not startle either of them if they were alert, she observed them with cyan-colored orbs. One looked like some sort of bird, black and white, while the other looked like... 'Is that a pup?' She wondered to herself, carefully approaching the two, wings folding on her back and lion-like tail swaying to keep her balanced on the ground after a long flight.
"Hello?" She called. She didn't know if the pup was unconscious or not, but the bird-like creature looked awake. Rei didn't know what a Myou was, but she would soon discover such. Either way, some inner instinct was stirred upon seeing the soaked ball of fluff that lay on the bank, and she came closer, whether she was answered or not. By this time, the three-year-old wolf was only a few feet away.

There nothing hurt, everything made sense, and she was happy. She was in said state when the other wolf approached her and her companion. She heard nothing when the other wolf called out to her, but Aowyn sure did. The little penguin chirped loudly, staring up at the wolf with wings and began to nudge the wolf pup anxiously. Aowyn did not want to become a snack for the wolf who was approaching, and there was no way she thought she could converse with it. It took a few moments for the penguin to rouse the pup but finally Isealdyr opened her eyes and yawned a bit. She looked down at her white paws and realised that reality was back and she growled, lifting her head and noticing the approaching wolf. "Uhoh," she murmured under her breath, shakily rising from where she lay. Her body was still soaking from the water, and she wobbled as she stood, coughing and splattering a bit more. Isy knew there was no way she could defend herself against the wolf, so her power lay in intimidation and cuteness. Or well, the first and then the latter if the first failed. She puffed up her fur and raised up her tail, yapping loud puppy barks and growling as menacingly as she could. Aowyn chirped again, hiding behind the body of her wolf pup. xxx

She wasn't sure why the bird hurriedly awoke the pup, as again, she didn't know about the Myou species. When the pup awoke, and looked at her in somewhat of surprise, and then yapped at her, as if trying to intimidate the older wolf.
She did not back down though, but did not move forward, either.
"I'm not going to harm you," she said. "I'm not a threat to you, or your..." She trailed off, glancing at the bird. "Feathery friend." She looked back at the pup, whom was clearly soaked to the bone.
"You're soaked. Did you fall into the river?"

This made Aowyn chirp louder, curling up against the pup. Isy was not yet full grown, but she was big enough to dwarf the penguin in size. She continued to growl, trying to stop her legs from shaking as she did so. There was no way she'd win this fight. The keiyou spoke though, and Isy blinked, taking a big breath and calming down a bit. Perhaps she was being too guillable but right now she needed the reassurance that everything was okay. Her bottom lip quivered slightly before she fell back onto her rump and began to wail loudly, drowing out the words of the keiyou before her. Aowyn, startled by the noise, chirped loudly, ducking under the pup's paws to sit just under her body. Isy continued in this fashion for several moments, taking in huge, gasping breaths and wailing more before she finally calmed herself down enough to speak, brokenly. "I was -sniff- playing -sniff- by the river, and and and and" she stopped to let out a huge wail, breaking into fits of tears once more. "And then I fell!" again, she returned to hysterics. Aowyn nuzzled her head against the fur of the albino pup, chirping gently. "I want my mommyyyyyyyyyy" she whined, taking in a huge staggered breath and staring at the keiyou with teary eyes. xxx

Magispar was bored. The pack was going slowly and she hadn't seen many other wolves for a while, and even when she did, they generally didn't want to fight, become friends, or anything else vaguely interesting. Her life had lacked drama for quite a while. Suddenly, she caught two scents upon the wind; one of a Keiyou and one mingled penguin and wolf scent. She frowned; intruders! Then she shook her head at herself, amused. Not quite yet, Magi. Wait until you're all finished. Then you can start scaring everybody who comes within a mile of you. Flicking her tail, she bounced into a quick run, heading for the scents. Soon enough the wolves came in sight; one golden-coloured Keiyou and one small, cub-sized white wolf and.... what on earth was that? A small birdlike thing, black and white, with large claws. She didn't recognise the species. Hmmm. Unusual. Shrugging, the young wolf trotted up to the two. The cub- a Myou, she supposed, as she clearly weren't any other species- was wailing and crying. She barely caught the very tail end of the sentence; 'myyyyyyyyyyyy'. "Hey," she said, trying to look non-threatening. "What's happened?" She peered at the cub as the bird snuggled up beside the white cub. "Are you okay? You look drenched. Where are your parents?"

Rei had never had any experience with pups before this, but her maternal instincts kicked in almost immediately. She wanted to ease the pup's worries, to help her; Comfort her in any way she possibly could.
When the pup began to cry for her mother, she stepped closer.
"Don't worry little one," she spoke. "I'll help you find your mother. I'll make sure nothing happens to you during that time."
No sooner had she spoke when another wolf had appeared. A lupus by the looks of it. When the newcomer approached and asked what was wrong and where the pup's parents were, Rei moved closer to the pup, almost taking on a defensive stance and placing herself almost completely between the pup and the lupus. She may not have ever dealt with children before, but Rei's inner instincts urged her to protect this pup from even the most remote of danger.
"She fail into the river as was swept away, she told me," she answered the lupus. "Her parents are more than likely somewhere downstream." | |

Isy began her 'terrifying' display of growls and yips again, as the female came into view. She didn't seem too scary though and Isealdyr soon found herself overcome by another bout of tears, the tough act falling away quickly. Aowyn chirped, snuggling close into Isy's fur. The new female seemed to ask Isy a question, but it was barely audible over her tears. They streamed down her cheeks, making her already wet fur even wetter. Rei seemed to answer the question for her, and when she said the word parents it started another stream of crying. "MY MUMMY AND DADDY AREN'T HERE," she wailed, flinging herself into Rei's fur and bawling louder. Aowyn, taken aback by all the crying and erratic behaviour of her wolf, merely stared up at Rei, blinking and then shrugging a bit. "I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO GET BACK TO THE CANYON. WHAT IF MY MUMMY IS DEAD AND DADDY IS DEAD AND EVERYONE IS DEAD AND IT'S ALL MY FAULT AND THEY CAN'T SWIM AND AND AND AND" she lost her train of thought as she headed into another onslaught of tears. xxx

Magispar nodded sympathetically, sitting down stretched out like a sphinx to get to the cub's eye level. "My mummy and daddy are gone too," she said very quietly, "so I know how you feel." She blinked slowly. "I'm sure they're fine. You're from the Canyon? The Styrrstdar Cadre?" she asked, and paused to herself. Magispar did not like the Styrrstdar Cadre. Nothing could be further from the equality and freedom she prized and loved than a hierarchical system based on unquestioning obedience. Also, they had the best territory in the lands and Magi wasn't above petty jealousy. Maybe the cub would be helpful, if they ever came to war against the Cadre... She shook her head furiously as though to shake the tangible thoughts from her head. Magispar! she berated herself. You never judge a cub by their pack, or even think about using cubs like that. You complete idiot! Stop thinking. Engage brain. Restart thinking. "Your mummy and daddy are probably in the Cadre," she reassured the cub. "I'm sure they're used to walking around the Canyon. They won't fall in the river. And if you want, I can teach you to swim..." she trailed off. Of course, that was assuming the cub would stay and join her pack. And that was a silly assumption. Was it?
