Night time was just as noisy as day time; there were night creatures just as there were day creatures. Night birds called from above looking for the vermin that were scratching for food. The wind shook the grass letting the world explode in a sound of rustling. Sounds were like colours. The rustling of the grass was like a big blotch of something similar to yellow, and so went all the wounds he heard. Whether the blue in his mind correlated with the blue in the sky he would never know.
He stood still; in the middle of what he thought was a field of sorts. The grass was long but not taller than him which meant it was not extremely long but foreboding all the same. He wasn’t in a good position. His body physically ached from not only the loss of his mother but also from the lack of food and sleep. His mother’s death had a profound impact on his life. He had understood his father had loved her but he had also thought he had loved him. A tear slid down his cheek, he was even too tired to cry properly. All he could do was stand there and let the pain of her death rocket through him.
He sat down; he hadn’t slept much since her death. He had been to scared, the noises that echoed around him were confusing and led him to believe things that were not actually true. He had run from mice and almost jumped into a surging river. He had fallen and starved. He was thirsty most of all, the hunger was something he was dealing with but the thirst was just too much. It took over his body and the last time he had tried to listen for water or even smell it he ended up somewhere completely different.
“You are the one who killed mother” He Echoed his fathers words, letting a few more tears run down his cheek as he gave himself the luxury of lying down. He could not help but close his eyes as he slipped into a world of dream, a world just like the world he lived in. Devoid of images but filled with words and their colours. He dreamt of the only thing he had known his whole life, his sick mother.
“You are the one who killed her!” His voice rumbled through the world, the ground below him shook it was so fierce. His father’s smell even smell fierce. It smelt of danger and threat. It smelt of pain and despair, it had been all the male Sennyo had felt since his mate had given birth. “Dont” His mother whispered, her voice was like a cool slave on the harshness of his father, “He did nothing wrong love. Come here baby” He walked towards the voice, seeing nothing but darkness ahead of him and soon enough he found the soft fur. He imagined her fur to be a nice colour, nothing extreme or vibrant, something calming. It was of course what she was to him. She was safety. His father grumbled as he disappeared into the darkness.
A shriek echoed throughout his dream and his mother disappeared. He woke with a gasp and then a cry. The shriek repeated and he realised it was just another of the night birds. Tears slid down his face as he sobbed, he didn’t know what to do. He didn’t know where to go. He didn’t even know how to talk properly and many other things. He just knew how to cry and lay there. He wanted his mother’s soft fur that smelt like walnuts. He wanted food like the scraps his father had given him or even what he had had before. He remembered the sugary taste that his mother had provided for him.
The sobs subsided and he lay there, his eyes wide open but seeing nothing. The sounds of the night exploding around him and the wind drying his wet cheeks. Maybe he would die like her, and then his life would be much better. He would be able to be with her and her walnut smelling fur.

Phoenix was just out for a midnight walk through the meadow, the moon high above her and the stars twinkling in the dark blue sky. Crickets chirped in the long grass and birds fluttered up ahead. It was a calm and peaceful night with only a slight summers breeze to ruffle her fur. Her black-tipped tail was high over her back the black tip lit with a flame looking like a lantern, lighting the way. She thought maybe she should hunt and bring home some food for her pups, she gave a nod agreeing with her self and extinguished the light on her tail and dropped it, lowering her body to the ground searching for signs of prey. She heard a rustle up ahead and locked her position but only few seconds after the scent of wolf drifted to her, with the faintest scent of milk, and the more stronger scents of dirt and other territories.
She stood up her head tilted and lit the light on her tail again and approached the scent. She parted the grass with her paws and saw a pup sitting there. He appeared to be sobbing and he was covering in dirt and grime. Two blue butterfly wings fluttered upon his back and she recognised it as the species in one of her pack, Sennyo the other young female Charis had called herself and that was what this little pup was. She looked around and lifted her nose, ears pricked for signs of the mother but could catch none, not even around the pup.
She walked over to him and sat down curling her no longer flaming tail around her black paws. "Hello little one, are you okay? Where is youre mother and why are you out here all by yourself?" she asked the questions slowly and softly not wanting to startle him. She ducked her head low so that she was not towering over the small sennyo. She looked into his eyes and noticed a slight white film covering his eye. Blind. What was a blind pup doing out here all by himself? This pup obviously must have been abandoned because of his disability, she snorted, that was such a cruel thing to do to such a healthy pup. She walked over and curled around him laying down, wrapping him in her warmth and licking his forehead hopefully to calm him down enough so that he could speak.

His smell and hearing were better than most his age but they were only better if he used them. He didn’t exactly even know how to use them properly, but they still served the purpose he needed.
Only when the wolf spoke did he notice her arrival, with her first word he got a shot of adrenaline. He leapt up, his head turning from side to side as he tried to determine where she was. When he found her he focused on her words. Relaxing colours of blue and green floated through his mind as he listened to her. Her words seemed careful, it almost seemed like she cared but he didn’t know.
He had never met another wolf besides his parents and how did he even know this creature that had confronted him was wolf? Her scent was similar to his parents but it was a faint similarity, the similarity of the same basic species, but he didn’t know that. For all he knew they could have just lived in the same area. He sat down, his head spinning from trying too hard to identify the smells.
When she curled around him he squirmed a bit, she was big.... well in comparison to him at least. His breathing sped up and he closed his eyes tightly, wrinkling his forehead. Her tongue sent a wave of peace through him, his mother used to do this. She used to curl around him just like this and like his head like she was doing. For a second he was confused, was this his mother? She did what his mother did, she was warm. Her fur was not as soft as he remembered but it was comforting... He lay there confused.
“Gone” He said softly, he didn’t know what else to say. He didn’t know many words, how could he explain to her the disease that he had brought upon his mother? The disease of pregnancy, how could he explain that she died because of him? But then again.... she was a lot like his mother. Was he gone like his mother? “Ma gone, Pa Gone” He whispered. Each time he said gone it struck a chord somewhere deep down.

Gone. That was the first word he had said, then he held a look of confusion on his face. His lack of sight must have done that, he must have though for a few brief seconds that she was his mother. Yes he must have been abandoned, she thought. Then it dawned on her, this pup has no one to care for him or love him, feed him or play with him. He was all by himself and he needed a mother. She could adopt this pup and treat it like she did her own and her own pups will learn to accept him as their brother. She smiled and opened her mouth to speak softly to him. "Hush now young one, I am Phoenix, I will take care of you, now what is youre name?
She searched the night sky she didnt know what for she thanked the world for giving her this pup and that he was alright and had lived through the past few day without being injured and she was amazed at this, a blind pup that had survived on its own for more than a day was more than remarkable. She started to clean him off heating her tongue a tiny bit to keep him warm.

Was this a new mother? She was just as gentle, just as loving, and just as kind as his first. Her fur was not as soft and as he snuggled against it, it smelt different. So she was not his old mother but rather his new mother... he thought.
“Eck ohhhhhh” He said, careful with the pronunciation, he didn’t want to be called something he was not. His voice was high pitched as he said it so he sounded almost as if he was singing an out of tune song. He had never had to say his name before, he had always been told it, it had been something he was addressed by and nothing more. “Ech-ohhhhhh” He said, almost getting it right the seconded time.
He sat up and put his paws against the new mother “Pheen”, He grinned, happy that he got the names right and sat down. Well at least he thought he got them right. He was still thirsty; he could hear water a far way off and could not help but look in the direction. His face contorting with his thoughts, as young as he was he was already weaned. His father had made sure of that long before his mother died. He looked back at Phoenix, waiting to see what he was supposed to do and what she wanted of him.

Phoenix gave a bit of a laugh when Echo had tried to pronounce his name and taken awhile to get it the way he wanted then pronounced her own wrong aswell. She corrected him softly trieing to make it sound easy to pronounce. "Fee-nix, but its ok you dont have to call me by my name, just call me mother, mommy or whatever you wish, you are mine now." She smiled as he looked up to her his sightless eyes seemed like they could see right through her even though she knew they couldn't. She guessed he must be hungry and thirsty and should probably get those soon before he got to weak.
She got up and shook herself off and looked back to Echo then towards the river not far ahead. "Come on lets get you something to drink and eat after all you must be thirsty and hungry from how far you must have walked." She placed her tail on his shoulder and started to walk towards the river, making sure to keep her pace the same as his. She would call to her pups after he had eaten and drunk that way they could meet and she could introduce him as the newest member of the family and maybe help him with his blindness. They would have another littermate and a friend. She smiled and continued on speaking out to Echo when the ground was uneven or a slight hill or a root or rock was in the way and in no time he would know the feel of the territory off by heart.

His real mother was momentarily gone from his mind as she declared her claim on him. He had a mother again, somebody to look after him and care for him and keep him warm when he slept. Even he didn’t understand the full meaning of gaining a new mother, it meant he would survive till morning, it meant that he would be able to grow up and become something.
When she stood up he could not help but moan, despite it been summer the night was still a bit chilly and her fur was warm, he hushed when she spoke and didn’t moan when he heard the promise of food and water. As he walked behind her and her tail guided him he nipped at it playfully, careful not to bite to hard lest she snap at him the way his father did whenever he tried to play with him. The thought that she might abandon him did not cross his mind, he was young and the world was new to him. He didn’t see any reason to expect the worst and therefore it didn’t even cross his mind.
It felt like ages before he could smell water, he could not hear it yet though. But the smell was there and with every step it got stronger. He walked forward slightly so that he was next to his adopted mother, he was close enough that he could feel the warmth of her fur but not close enough that they were tripping over each other.
His father had always guided him to a shallow spring, that was what he expected this time and with a burst of speed he darted towards the river. He stopped at the bank, putting a paw forward cautiously, despite the spring having been calm and shallow in most places there was one spot where it was deep. He remembered with a shiver how he had fallen in, he did not want to repeat the experience. He dipped his paw in and pulled back with a yelp. The water was moving!
He leaned forward, his nose touching the water and pulled back sharply, it was most definitely moving. How could water be moving? It was impossible! Water didn’t move. Wind moved, living creatures moved, water did not move! He stood, shocked not knowing what to do. Was this really water? He was suddenly scared, was the new mother trying to make him drink something dangerous?

Calyx wandered trough the Alliance territory, the young pup finding himself more bored than ever. He wasn't sure what there was for him to do at the moment, as his sister had gone off again as well as his mother. For some reason, he couldn't seem to keep track of the two females. His paws padded easily against the cool ground as he passed beneath the darker shadow of a tree, cooler since it was night. He decided to sit himself upon one of the roots and gaze out at the meadow, only to see a familiar bright crimson pelt sticking out not too far away.
His rustic colored pelt shone as he stepped back into the moonlight, his reddish gold eyes focused on what in the world she was doing. She was making strange movements, as if guiding something, and it wasn't long before he spotted a young pup he didn't know beneath her feet. He felt his anger flare some, who was that pup and what was he doing with his mother? It wasn't often that Calyx became so defensive over something, but it was different when it came to his mother and his sister.
He approached the two quickly and felt very jealous. He stood there, watching, not saying a word, feeling hurt that his mother was spending time with another pup instead of him. He glared at the butterfly winged wolf and scolded him mentally when he yelped, jumping away from the river. Calyx decided to voice himself, but his angered bark came out as an awkward squeak. As embarrassing as it was, he certainly hoped it would gain their attention and pull Phoenix away from the stranger.

"Mummy!" Hoshi bounced up and down as she ran towards her mummy. She was in a Very Happy Mood and was Ever So Slightly Hyper, and she really did show it when she was in such a mood. She tumbled to the ground and lay on her back, panting and wagging her tail. Suddenly the other wolf, a cub like her, caught her eye. She rolled back over and looked at him, panting. Was he a new friend? She hoped so. "Mummy, I was in the desert!" she told Phoenix excitedly. Since her adventures outside Alliance territory she'd learnt the name of the place she'd been to and now regarded the whole thing as just that- and adventure. Not that she liked adventures. She was happy to boast about it, but adventures were far too scary for her- she wouldn't be trying again. She smelt her brother and grinned happily. Everything was right in her world. She gave a short bark of welcome.
(sorry short and rubbishy post, I g2g)
