branwen;
Everyplace she turned to, always turned out being the wrong place. She had came to the Prairie looking to find relief from the heat of summer, yet she only found more. It was a few degrees less than the Canyon in heat, but it was still hot. Bran sighed, wishing that summer would hurry up and be over with already. But alas, you couldn't rush the seasons, so it would stay summer till they changed.
She rolled over, squishing down clumps of grass and flowers as she did so. At least in the Prairie it rained, so water was in no short supply. Unlike the Canyon, where it was all hot rocks and dust. And here you could actually see the words she wrote out. She waved a paw in the air, watching as a trail of light sparks appeared in thin air. So you could also see bending creations along with her words. Perhaps this place wasn't so bad after all.

He had a shorter coat for a lupus, and it had only gotten thinner as the weather grew warmer. Now his purple and yellow body was craving warmth. As much as he had grown used to the colder temperatures of the north, there was nothing like spending a day in the warm glow of the hot summer sun.
His wanderings had taken him to the Prairie. The wildflowers were certainly a delightful sight. The landscape in general was just so different from the one he called him. Trotting through the dryer grasses, the older male was having himself a grad old time. His body felt warm to his very core, and all in all he was in a good mood. Spying an old acquaintance in the distance only made his tail wag more, and he called out the name of his fellow light lupus as he changed course and headed towards her. "Branwen! Hullo."

Bran was enjoying the nice day and the change of atmosphere. Laying on her back and making a assortment of light creations appear in the air ahead of her. She was in the midst of making one shaped as a butterfly when she heard a familiar voice. Coking her ears forward, she sat up and adjusted herself to a more lady like position.
"Dritan!" She smiled, spelling out the words with ease. "How have you been? Working on your light skills I hope."

Dritan came to a stop several feet in front of her, a happy smile on his face. He had been spending most of his free time practicing, which was a considerable amount of time surprisingly. The improvement he'd experienced was astounding, at least in his own opinion.
"I've learned some new tricks since I last saw you." His speech was coming surprisingly easy. Then again, he was in a situation where he felt little to no nervousness or fear. He'd met Branwen several times in the past and with the day so beautiful his mind was refusing to conjure up false monsters.
"Watch," he then added, excited to impress his friend. Closing his eyes, his face scrunched in concentration as he tried to manifest his powers. After several long minutes he opened his eyes to find a grapefruit sized ball of light hovering in front of his face. He was grinning now, pleased it had worked, and he even managed to keep it lit as he added another comment. "Makes a pretty good nightlight, haha."

She nodded along to his words, though she was more interested in what he could do more. Last time she had seen him, a light ball had exploded in his face, and Bran had gone off on him. Later apologizing for her actions and encouraging him to practice. She had gained patience and he had hopefully gained skill from the last time they had met. So there was a slim chance of her going off on him. Plus, it was much to nice of a day to be yelling.
She was surprised though, when he managed to make a ball of light and hold it. Smiling, she spelt out a reply. "That it does. Want to see what iv'e been working on?" She didn't wait for a reply. "Yes? Ok." Focusing, she closed her eyes and drew up a thin wall of light. Growing and expanding it to fit around her like a shield. It flickered once or twice, but other than that it was stable. Opening her eyes, she looked at Dri and waited for his reaction.

The moment he tried to make sense of the female's floating text his own light blinked out. But that was alright. It was Branwen's turn to show off now. Eagerly he nodded his head and waited to see what she could do.
The wall of light that materialized around her elicited a soft gasp from the male. He stared at it in awe, watching it flicker for a moment before holding steady. Impressed was quite possibly an understatement, considering he had no idea that such a feat was possible with their element. Tentatively, he took a few steps forward, poking his head through the wall in order to gaze at his friend. The look on his faze was pure amazement, thoughts incoherent as he tried to find a way to express his opinion. "Wow. That's... T-that's so, wow!"

Bran couldn't help but starting in surprise as Dritan put his head through her little light trick. The bulb flickered on and off for a few moments due to this, and she struggled to keep it steady. She gave up trying after awhile. Though she didn't mind it going out. She needed to talk, or spell, anyways. And she couldn't do that while also holding a light bulb steady. "Isn't it cool!?!" She grinned, excited that he liked it. "I was doing patrol in the Canyon and there was a teeny rock slide. My powers just took control and that showed up! Thank goodness the rocks fell ahead of me though. They would have gone right through!"occ; bran: !!!!

A few annoying spots danced in front of his eyes, a side effect of shoving his head through a wall of pure light, but they were easy enough to ignore. Vaguely he wondered if he could manifest such a high degree of power. But his control was still infantile, a result of late development and little refinery. Sure he was practicing every day, but he had no formal instruction and thus no guidance when it came to true power and less parlor tricks. If he was to try something like Branwen's demonstration right now, he had no doubt that it would result in one of his signature flash bombs - a large, highly unstable manifestation of uncontrollable power.
His eyes focused back on his friend as she began spelling again. It was a bit harder to make out than before, the residual light spots hindering his vision. She was writing out an awful large amount of text as well. While he could read, Dritan wasn't really what one would call proficient at it. He was a slow reader, and the more words his brain had to digest the longer it took him to formulate a response.
Luckily he got the gist of it. Chuckling softly, it was easy to read the impressed expression written all over his face. Branwen's home sounded a lot more dangerous than the Taiga was; the male was pretty sure the worst he had to worry about was whatever trouble managed to result from the antics of Avalon and Pyke. Snow was the only thing that ever fell in the vast yet flattened terrain.
"I'm uh, glad you're alright." Dritan was a bit bashful as he mumbled this, but he was still smiling. He himself had no stories of valor and great discovery to tell. Thinking back on it, that left him almost feeling disappointed. He was a Knight, after all. Weren't knights supposed to do tons of heroic deeds? All he ever did was spook at the sight of his own shadow... "That's kind of uh... nifty trade off though. You're lucky."

She couldn't help but blush as Dri talked. He...care about her? She looked down, instantly self-conscious. She had never had anyone say that to her, or care about her. All she ever was....was a worthless mute with a certain knack for controlling her power. Always pushed to the side or not listened too. But Dri....he listened, or read at least.
She looked away, pushing the confusing emotion's away. Dri was her friend. He would stay her friend...at least for now. Plus, she could never handle mating, or having pups. She wasn't afraid of the commitment, but of how the pups would turn out to be. Mute, like her? Or normal? It was a chance she didn't want to take. That and she was worried that a male could never accept her for what she was. She looked back up. "Yeah....so, how're you?"

His gaze had dropped down to his paws, not quite willing to look at her. Branwen was just so... perfect. Well, the opinion he'd formed of her was. She was smart and brave and a master with her powers. She was Dritan's opposite. He was nothing but a pushover and coward, lacking control beyond the level of most two year olds. She was everything he wanted to be; she was his idol.
Thankfully he did have decent peripheral vision. The sudden glow of text pulled his vision back up. The abrupt topic change caught him off guard, and it took him longer to reply than it probably should have. But he wasn't really sure how to answer the simple question. At the moment his life was rather stagnant and dull. He was doing well enough but things were... boring. And talking about himself made him a bit self-conscious. "I'm um good, I guess. The Knights are peaceful."

She let out a sigh, pushing the confusing emotions to the back of her mind. She would sort them out later, when she was alone back in her Canyon. But for now, she would stay here and try to talk about normal, ordinary, non-confusing emotion things.
"Thats...good." She cleared her throat, glancing about. "Iv'e heard rumors of the Knights and the Cadre being allies." She shuffled her feet, it would be good for that packs if allies happened. Plus she would be able to see her friends in the Knights. There was a downside though. "I just hope, with them being allies and all, that things don't turn to a war."

Dritan cocked his head to one side, pondering over the words he'd just read. This was the first he'd heard the rumor. Then again, he wasn't exactly buddy-buddy with the higher ups. He'd only ever seen the Tsarina during pack meetings and when he was with friends they rarely discussed pack politics. And he didn't really have any aspirations of rank (considering he was still trying to justify his current placement as a Knight rather than something less... valiant) so justification of such knowledge was slim anyways.
None the less, he tried his best to alleviate his friend's worries. In a way, he was trying to squash his own fears as well. The male was yellow in more than his coloring; he was a coward and not comfortable with the idea of battle. "Allies are friends though, aren't they? I mean... Well... Why would friends go to war?" His expression was one of contemplation as he mulled it over. Unfortunately, strategy was not his strong suite. Dritan relied more on impulse than anything else, and he was having difficulty coming up with a good reason for friends to fight (let alone have an all out war). The idea was just preposterous, especially to one who, when he managed to make friends, did his best to not intentionally offend them.

Branwen glanced at the male, didn't he know how wars and alliances worked? There was of course a chance of war though, against whom she still didn't know. She hoped it didn't come to a war though, Branwen wasn't exactly the fighting type. She rather cower in a corner somewhere, or work on the sidelines.
"Well....there's a chance I guess. But otherwise alliances are just friends." She frowned. "And if there is a war, they fight together." occ; n/a

War was not something he thought on often. It was an unpleasant topic, one he did not enjoy. The idea of being forced into a battle he did not want to fight simply because he relied on the safety and shelter of pack life was terrifying. More than anything he hoped that Branwen's speculation was just that, conjecture that would not come true.
"I h-hope we don't have to go to war..." His voice was timid as he spoke, betraying his underlying worries. Aside from his general reserves about fighting, he wasn't much of an offense man in general. His powers put up more of a defense than anything else. "I mean, I don't think the Knights are on bad terms with anyone. But I, um, stay out of pack politics... He frowned.

branwen;
Branwen finally realized that politics weren't exactly Dritan's niche. No wonder why he barely knew anything about wars and war strategies. Her mind searched for something else to turn the conversation to. The weather? Back to powers? She sighed. This was exactly why she avoided conversations with most wolves.
"I hope a war doesn't happen as well." She turned her eyes to the sky. "I'm not one for fighting. Not at all." She shivered at the thought. She had barely even gotten past her joining fight. To fight in a war...eugh. "Anyways."
