Had she been some battle hungry Amazon, he wouldn't have known how to talk to her. Conversations always went more smoothly when they were relatable. War was a topic he did not find relatable.
But what she'd spelled out did catch him off guard. His curiosity got the better of him, the question blurted out before he realized what he was saying. "But doesn't the Cadre require fighting?" The moment he realized what he'd bluntly said, he blushed, gaze dropping to his paws in embarrassment.

branwen;
Branwen tilted her head as Dritan brought up her earlier thoughts of her joining fight, or rather the Cadre and fighting in general. As said before, she detested it. But it was required to enter the Cadre, so she had toughened up and pulled a Dri. Which was explode a huge ball of light in front of her opponents face on accident and hope she had gotten by. Which she had, barely.
She cleared her throat and looked at him. All yellow and purple, and awkward. And tried to imagine him in a fight. She couldn't. She glanced down, at the straggly grass of the Prairie. "It does." She blushed. "I barely got in. I exploded light in front of the other wolves face." She winced. "I could have blinded them."

This brought a frown to the male's maw. Dritan hadn't meant to make her uncomfortable. Usually he was the one staring down at his paws, too chicken to look at his conversation partners as he tripped and stumbled over his words. It was one of the worst feelings in the world, he knew, and to think that he'd caused it for someone else made him feel guilty.
Gently he leaned his head forward, touching his nose to Branwen's. A slight pout jutted out his lower lip as he tried to comfort her without overstepping any boundaries. His voice was surprisingly reassuring as he spoke. "It always wears off after a few minutes. Just gives you enough time to, er, get a head start, eh heh." If there was one aspect of his powers that he was an expert in, it was the flash bomb, even if he still always released it unintentionally.

branwen;
As he touched her nose, even as a way of comfort, Branwen couldn't help but have the earlier emotion's rush back to her. She looked up and returned the touch on impulse, blushing madly as she did so. Before quickly pulling away and staggering back a few feet. "Eh heh. I um...forgot. I was supposed to be...doing something."
She glanced from him to the Prairie grasses, unsure of what to do. Than, still rather panicked from all the confusing emotions. She decided the best thing to do was just leave. Turning tail, she set off running toward the Cadre lands.

She left him there, yammering off some pathetic excuse before darting off into the distance. Dritan stared at her retreating form, thoroughly confused by what had just happened. Had he done something wrong? He didn't think he had, but... Women could be so dang confusing.
For a long while he just sat where he was, staring off into space as his mind was plagued with possibly explanations of what had just transpired. He didn't understand it at all. All he knew was that now he felt rather sad and a little empty inside. His friend had just dumped him. And worst of all he had convinced himself that it was all his fault. Hanging his head, he finally rose to his paws and headed back towards the Taiga. Maybe one of his pack makes could explain to him what had happened.
